Last week, it emerged that health insurance leaders pressured the DOJ to bring federal charges against Luigi Mangione. This week, I discovered the top 3 officials at DOJ all collected paychecks from healthcare companies before serving in government: shorturl.at/lgLIU

As the year is ending soon... this is your friendly reminder that you didn’t waste your year. any moments of happiness or comfort, any small accomplishments, they all matter. this has been a really hard year, and simply surviving is something to be proud of. 🤎

something that i think is really key to being a good ally to disabled people is just. being willing to be flexible. understanding that our needs won’t be the same every day forever, and being willing to accommodate that.
some days i need more help than others. some days i can walk and some days i can’t. some days i can’t sit upright, some days i can. some days i can’t cook or clean or do any sort of necessary task on my own, and all i ask is that you try to understand that abilities can fluctuate, and be willing to help me even if i didn’t need that help yesterday or if i’ll need even more help tomorrow.

Some people don’t want to hear this but sometimes accessibility is not sustainable or eco-friendly. Disabled people sometimes need straws, or pre-made meals in plastic containers, or single-use items. Just because you can work with your foods in their least processed and packaged form doesn’t mean everyone else can.

People only have so much patience for those of us with chronic illnesses, chronic pain, and or mental health difficulties.
At the beginning there is so much support (or at least more support) but when they realise you're not recovering as quickly as they'd like... you get avoided, isolated, told you're exaggerating, etc. They seldom think about how those of us with chronic issues feel. How overwhelming it is to deal with everything day in and day out. There is so much anxiety, depression, grief, etc when dealing with chronic issues regardless of what they are.
If you're even more isolated because people refuse to see how much you're struggling or you're not recovering "fast enough" for the people around you just know you're not alone! There are so many of us in the same boat too

Hey plz follow the natural progression of this thought.
Community CAN provide a substitute for legislation and public services.
Community shouldn’t HAVE to provide a substitute for legislation and public services.
That does NOT mean we should stop using our community as a substitute for legislation and public services, especially under the approaching Trump presidency.

actually i do hate and resent people who don't take food restrictions, not even seriously, but with any measure of grace. we're not asking much but even, apparently, not mocking us or treating us like a chore is apparently too much. like fuck you i hope you never eat again!!

Okay okay OKAY LISTEN
Anyone who has been told they're infertile due to gynecological conditions such as endometriosis: don't let that be your sole protection.
shocker, docs aren't ALWAYS right
i know plenty of people who've been told they're entirely infertile just to end up having children accidentally
it may be limited or harder to get pregnant, but sometimes it's safest to treat it like you can
I fell for this and had I not talked with a second gynecologist I would have held this belief for life
if you ovulate, and have periods and aren't on birth control and have someone ejaculate inside you, there is a chance you can get pregnant.
treat it like you can, use protection 💖

I really need cis people to stop body shaming trans people before we even transition.
"What if you get fat?" "What if you go bald?" "What if you have a bunch of acne?"
Ok and? And? And what?
Fat, bald, and blemished is not the worst thing a person can be. It's far worse to have ugly takes.
Did you consider that my existence does not revolve around being attractive to everyone? Did you consider that my self-acceptance does not have to be dependent on my appearance? Did you consider that billions of people are fat, bald, or have acne regardless of being cis or trans and that they don't deserve to be shamed?
Did you consider that you're being transphobic, fatphobic, and Really Fucking Shitty?
Anyway, congratulations to all fat, bald, and acne-prone trans people who are unironically hot as fuck.

For the purposes of this poll, do NOT count the following:
Your own birth (unless there were complications/urgent concerns)
Routine check-ups or scheduled-in-advance appointments that just happened to be at a hospital
Visiting or accompanying someone else to the hospital
Use your discretion as to whether to count visits to urgent care.

psa for cane, crutch, and wheelchair users getting top surgery:
you will not be able to exert much effort with your arms. self supporting with a cane or crutch or self propelling in your wheelchair is inadvisable.
make sure you have a support person to help you, or be prepared to be using your legs more if you are able.
