Hey look, another protagonist. Here's another little design rule I like to follow: all Flamesilks have orange somewhere on them. (Orange doesn't always mean flamesilk, but flamesilk always means orange.) Blue in particular doesn't have much orange on him, but he does have a nice little scarf. I wonder who he got it from...

Can we talk about the “one perspective per book” rule in WoF and how it does quiet characters dirty?

For example: Moonwatcher is criticized a lot for turning into a generic character after book 6, but she isn’t! All her decisions make sense for her character, because she likes Darkstalker, desperately wants to consider him a friend, but is constantly worried about him. Her book is the beginning of her arc, but since Moon is such a self contained dragon, we never get to see that development happen.

My other example is Blue, my favorite character. He is done so dirty by the other perspectives. Blue’s spends his entire book learning that he needs to stand up for himself, facing his fear of change head on, and learning to stop making excuses for those who treat him badly. He may not want to hurt anyone at the end of his book, and he’d try any alternative to avoid it, but with proper motivation he could be convinced to. But he is a quiet dragon. So, for the rest of the arc he is spoken for, mostly through Cricket. Personally, I would have loved to hear Blue’s thoughts during *The Poison Jungle*. He was being claimed, like he was at the Flamesilk Cavern, but we never get to hear his quiet defiance. His refusal to hurt anyone unless absolutely necessary. Only Cricket and Swordtail speak against it.
