DBDA characters + formal desi attire: Charles and Edwin (Pt. 1)
This is not fanart, because I cannot draw, but if any fanartists want to use this as inspo, go ahead. And, before we begin, my fashion sense is not the best, so if any fellow desi people see this and have anything to add, go ahead. These aren't very detailed either tbh, because I am much more well versed in women's desi fashion than men's. Ok, now, let's go.
Charles Rowland
You know I had to start with my favourite desi boy of all time. I'm putting my man in a sherwani because he deserves it. Red's his colour, and it's also the colour associated with weddings in south asian culture, so yes, these pictures are technically bridegroom inspo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I absolutely adore embroidered sherwanis, and I do think Charles would slay one of these beyond imagination. For full outfit references, see below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Golden and red go together amazingly in desi wear, although they do usually denote wedding wear. But sherwanis fit so wonderfully on the shoulders + Charles' dangly gold earring would go so so well with the outfit !!
Edwin Payne
Yes, I'm imagining the British Raj era white boy in desi attire. Sue me. We all know blue's his colour, so of course I went for the blue sherwanis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, blue and golden are an amazing colour combination and my original choice, because I wanted there to be a common colour between Charles and Edwin, but blue and silver/white was easier to find on Pinterest. You can see golden highlights on a few of these, though, and this next one.
Tumblr media
This one is a bit plain but to be quite honest, it has a simple elegance to it that reminded me of Edwin. Its golden highlights mean that it would work best with golden trousers, like Charles' outfits up top.
BUT I also saw this amazing formal shalwar kameez in blue that I do think Edwin would look so so good in, so I have to add it here as a bonus idea.
Tumblr media
+ Bonus Payneland
So, desi men's attire also has this thing where the sherwani itself is a muted colour and the man wears a cloth draped around himself in the highlighted colour (IDK what the cloth is called 😭). But I found these similar ones in blue/white and red/golden combo, and yes, it reminded me of Payneland.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LIKE. You can't tell me they wouldn't absolutely slay it. Like these are their wedding outfits to me, like for when they get married to each other.
Anyway, that's the limit for the pictures I can put on this post. Next one up is Crystal and Niko! I am so excited for Niko.
taglist because people seemed to want this and i don't want anyone to miss it. just say the word and i'll tag you for the next part: @queen-of-hobgobblers @mirabel-on-a-bicycle @shipspainfulships @read-write-thrive @justalunaticfangirl @guardianspirits13

Nacho Duato’s La Bayadere
Duato’s La Bayadere is the best reconstruction of the ballet I have seen since...well...ever.  There were a few things I didn’t like, for example in the grand pas de deux of Gamzatti and Solor he cut out the beginning part of music and went straight to the slow part.  This cut made the pdd seem rushed and without a clear start, but I still loved the choreography.  He also used LED lights and special effects for the fire and a weird and cliche heart drawn onstage by Solor which I thought was super tacky, but it didn’t distract from the rest of the ballet.  He also cut out the dizzy happy dance of Nikiya after getting the basket of flowers and that is one of my favorite parts, as well as the slave adagio (which a lot of productions cut and I don’t know why because it’s beautiful).
My favorite parts: the High Brahmin and the King were actually dancers, especially the High Brahmin.  He comes in and he’s in this imposing heavy purple and gold skirt with a strong head dress and he commands the stage with movement.  He interacts with the slaves, especially the main slave (I have absolutely no idea what that character is called) and in the scene when he confesses his love to Nikiya is doesn’t just physically assault her.  He shares his true love and while it’s powerful dancing it’s also vulnerable.  The fact that he’s young, they don’t take a male dancer and try to age him, also adds a new power to the role that is missing in almost every other production.  The King is also younger and he also dances.
The introduction to the palace scene involves male corps dancers actually dancing in a more Bollywood-esque (I don’t know what to call it) style in traditional costume and it’s SO GOOD.  The music, the choreography, the costumes, and the set are amazing.  The King comes in and joins and it’s all very masculine and strong.  The men are featured strongly in this ballet and I’m obsessed with that.
I LOOOOOOOOVE Nikiya’s death; all three men that caused her death are circling her and moving her and she is helpless against them.  I’ve never liked the blaming Gamzatti thing (Nikiya literally tried to stab her), so the fact that she isn’t blamed in this production makes me so happy.
Now for the design itself.  I am obsessed with the costumes and the scenes and the lighting and literally everything.  All of Duato’s ballets are visually gorgeous and his Bayadere is not an exception.  The men have powerful and masculine and traditional costumes, the men wear a lot of shalwar kameez but with wider coats for a twirling effect because dance.  Solor and his knights have great costumes.  The only thing I don’t like are the silky tights, they look like pajama bottoms that are too small.  The women have stunning costumes, light and airy and sparkly without being cheap and over the top.  I like that Gamzatti wears beautiful shades of blue both in her traditional costume (a gorgeous long and flowing skirt with embroidery and beading all of it) and her classical tutu.  Nikiya’s costumes are also perfect.  They aren’t the tacky crop top and sheer skirts and all of that traditional things.
KINGDOM OF THE SHADES TIME.  Instead of just a dark and black or blue back drop, it’s of the night sky and has dim yet visible stars (not in the shape of stars, but how stars actually appear in the night sky) and the clouds seem to be gently and slightly moving like they do.  It’s realistic and beautiful.  The tutus are a dusty blue as well, which looks fabulous against the sky.  It doesn’t compete and look stark in comparison, they look like ghosts that would be transparent and take on that color.  Nikiya’s headpiece is still beautiful jewelry, not the cheap pearls with the red jewel in the middle of her forehead.  I don’t like that she has on a big necklace, but that’s the only complaint.  He keeps the choreography the same, but adds a short reprise of the beginning of the adagio that serves as a beautiful ending to the show instead of just cutting it off and leaving it feeling incomplete like other versions without the temple scene.
I could write about this production even more, but I’ll sum it up here: it is a beautiful production that everyone should watch.  It’s the best reconstruction I’ve ever seen and other choreographers who do reconstructions should pay attention to how Duato does his work and take some hints.

Mikaizu, The South of Tenruon’ou - Culture
While the culture of Mikaizu is not far removed from the general culture of Tenruon’ou, there are unique features to the South that make it distinct.
Cuisine
The food of Mikaizu is heavily seafood-based thanks to the geography of the region. Soups, broths, rice and rice-based noodles are also staples. Flavors stem from broths and herbs used, with calculated additions of spices. Lemongrass, mint, turmeric, garlic, ginger and pepper are common flavor profiles. Those near the local Hidden Villages will also eat roti and curry. Chicken and pork is consumed though to a lesser extent then fish. Beef is rare and always imported from the North.
Desserts are also rice-based, some containing adzuki paste - a paste made of red beans boiled and mashed with sugar. It’s commonly used in mochi-based desserts. Tea desserts are also consumed. A specialty of the farthest southern region is coffee. It is made in small, limited amounts and given as gifts to guests and the Royal Family. Kuromitsu syrup, rose water, cane sugar, molasses and honey are common sweeteners.
Clothing
In addition to the basic tunic, sash, and pant or skirt, there are other unique clothing styles specific to the South.
Kimono
One unique clothing option in Mikaizu is kimono. Kimonos are long robes tied closed with decorative, wide, stiff sashes. They can be very informal, made of muslin and gauze or formal, being made of silk and decorated in lacquered threads. Depending on formality, rank and whether male or female, kimono are worn in various numbering of layers. Warriors have an additional option of wearing hakama, a type of wide pleated pant that is always paired with a kimono.
Ao Dai
Another option is ao dai. While ao dai are a gender-neutral option, it is primarily worn by women. It is a formal outfit consisting of long, loose pants or skirt with a tunic on top that has long front and back panels that reach the ankle. It is favored by more active noblewomen such as Sasami Jurai. The tunic can come in long, short or no sleeves.
Fishnet Clothing
Worn primarily by fishermen, in the thick of summer this is a common choice for men. The most common form is as a shirt but some also wear it as pants underneath loose pants to protect from rope or skid burns. Fingerless fishnet gloves are also preferred in the summer by fighters over the usual muslin arm wraps in order to allow breathing of the skin. Some prostitutes wear it strategically in the summer for decoration rather than function, usually under other clothing.
Shalwar Kameez
Worn during the cooling and cold seasons in the border area between Mikaizu and Jiteo-Sengu, shalwar kameez are very color, consisting of loose, baggy pants and a long tunic to about mid-thigh or above the knee. The tunic is usually with short or long sleeves. It can be considered a stylized version of the usual tunic and pants. Many of these are dip-dyed to create lovely ombre fades in place of embroidery.
Sarong
Worn in the summer by women, sarongs come in all lengths, colors and patterns. Usually used in conjunction with other pieces of clothing, a sarong can completely replace a tunic or skirt, depending on the length. In the spring sarongs are used as aprons or head coverings rather than clothing.
 Architecture
Houses and buildings are built of wood, the structure raised off the ground either slightly or – for those living near water – higher up off the ground. Some specialty homes are built high above deeper water with special, reinforced beams and latticework to hold it safely up. Roofs are covered in ceramic tiles painted white, pale grey or light blue to keep away the sun and make the building cooler in the summer. Sliding doors called fusuma are used in place of walls, through some buildings have non-movable walls in place, usually inns and public establishments. Buildings tend to be several stories with stacked roofing to show off the layers of the structure.
Decorations include gardens (plant, rock or even water), intricate wood carvings on the doors and beams, and inlays of mother-of-pearl for noble houses. Configuration of personal homes can change from season to season thanks to the movable fusuma. Wood tends to be stained in a neutral, light color to show off the natural beauty of the material.
The Arts
The largest artistic crafts exported are silks. Silk dying techniques are unique to each maker, with the Jurai having some of the oldest and most sought-after. The playing of musical instruments is highly encouraged in young men and dance in young women. Fan dances are seen only in the South, performed in furisode with heavy brocaded embroidery. Singing is also common, with sailors and fishermen having their own unique method of song.
Calligraphy is admired for its delicate touch while ink paintings for their bold simplicity. Jewelry made from silver, pearls, emeralds and coral can be bought for a very high price. Kanzashi are very popular gifts to give to women, either being made from simple material such as lacquered wood or from expensive material such as precious metals. Watercolor paintings are also popular both as gifts and decorations.

The Kalasha Valleys (Kalasha-mondr: Kaĺaśa Desh; Urdu: وادی کیلاش) are valleys in Chitral District in northern Pakistan. The language of the Kalash is the Kalasha and is a Dardic language (sub group of Indo-Aryan languages spoken in Northern Pakistan, eastern Afghanistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir). The language is spoken by a handful of people approximately 5000 and is considered to be critically endangered by UNESCO. The inhabitants of the valley are the Kalash people, who have a unique culture, language and follow a form of ancient Hinduism.Their culture is interlinked with their religion and includes several unique festivals and celebrations. The people generally do not intermarry or cohabit regions with local Muslims but neither are they hostile towards them instead are very friendly and welcoming towards tourists . The people are under legal and constitutional protection of the State of Pakistan as a scheduled tribe. An estimate of 9000 people live in the spectacular valley of kalash . This preserved tribe has a colourful and different culture than any found in pakistan . Kalash men have abandoned their traditional goat-hair tunics for shalwar-kameez, the pajama-like outfits worn throughout Pakistan and Afghanistan. But Kalash women still wear cheos, baggy black cotton dresses brilliantly embroidered at the collars, cuffs and hems.Glass beads drip from slender necklines. Long head-dresses are decorated with regimented waves of cowrie shell and elaborate embroidery, with blood reds, shocking pinks, Byzantine blues, canary yellows and emerald greens woven together in kaleidoscopic tapestries. The tall mountains and refreshing rivers of the kalash valley are popular tourist spots .

Voltron: Global Military Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Unit-Chapter 1: Voltron
01/23/2018
1139 Hours
Karachi, Pakistan
In the city of Karachi while on a beautiful morning, there is a Pakistani man with a shaggy beard wearing a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a pakol on his head walking through the crowded streets. He nervously looked around to make sure that he's not being followed. He then came up to a green car and gets into the passenger seat where there is a woman is sitting in the driver seat. She is wearing a Shalwar Kameez with hijab only revealing her face showing she has brown skin and green eyes. When the man entered the car, he was feeling afraid of the woman.
"ٹھیک ہے (Well?)" The woman asked in Urdu.
The man didn't answered as he was still feeling nervous with concerns of the woman.
"خالد؟ (Khalid?)" The woman called out the man to get him to talk.
"دیکھو ... مجھے اپنے خاندان کو دور کرنا پڑا. (Look...I had to move my family away.)" Said the man named Khalid. "چونکہ میں آپ کے بارے میں معلومات جمع کر رہا تھا، بہت سے لوگ میرے بارے میں بہت شبہ گزار رہے تھے. (A lot of people were getting very suspicious about me since I was gathering information for you.)"
"آپ اس کے بارے میں فکر کرنے کی ضرورت نہیں ہے. (You don't need to worry about that right now.)" Said the woman. "آپ سب کو یہ کرنے کی ضرورت ہے کہ مجھے بتاؤ جو لوگ اغوا کرتے ہیں اور ان لوگوں کو عمل کرتے ہیں جو میں جانتا ہوں. (All you need to do is tell me who are the ones kidnapping and executing people that I know.)"
"وہ مجھے مار الیں گے اور میرے خاندان کے بعد جائیں گے. (They will kill me and will go after my family.)"
"اگر آپ جو کچھ کرتے ہیں، اور ہم آپ اور آپ کے خاندان کی حفاظت کر سکتے ہیں. (And we can protect you and your family if you do what I say.)"
There was then a moment of silence as Khalid started to think about his current predicament. After a minute of conversation, Khalid gets out of the car and walks off. The woman then pulls out a phone and starts to text someone. Suddenly a middle eastern man, who is in his thirties, wearing also in an Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has short hair, green eyes and a scruffy beard witnessed khalid walking off. He then received a text from his phone and starts to walk to the car where the woman is. Suddenly a van speeds out from nowhere on to the sidewalk where the man was and four men rush out of the van carrying AK rifles and wearing chest rigs and ski mask to hide their faces and started chasing the man. The man was too slow to react as he was shot in the back of his leg falling like a limp rag doll. The shot echoed around the city's buildings and the onlookers stopped to look at the scene unfolding. The woman in the car was shocked that the man that she knows was shot. The armed men grabbed a hold of the man and started dragging him into the van. He tried to fight back but couldn't and the armed men manage to get him in the van and drove off with him. The woman just couldn't believe that this happened to the man and there was nothing that she couldn't do. Nothing but look at the man's blood left on the dirty city streets from his leg.
"Shit." The woman swore in english and even hit the wheel with her hand.
The woman hit the gas pedal and peeled out of the aria off before more masked men could come after her as well. A few moments passed and the bystanders went back to the daily activities as quickly it all happened as if nothing important happened.

1400 Hours
London, England
Classified Military Intelligence Headquarters
In a control room of the headquarters building, military intelligence operatives watch the horrific footage on a big screen T.V. monitor in real time. In the footage of armed Middle Eastern men held another middle eastern man who is all bloody and bruised up. The armed me are wearing ski masks to hide their face and are carrying AK rifles. One of the armed men pulls out a pistol and aims it at the hostage and says:
"الله سب سے بڑا ہے. (Allah is the greatest.)"
The man then executed the hostage with a bullet to the head splattering blood everywhere and the hostage dies instantly. The footage then ended but the operatives in the control room couldn't believe that this happened and disgusted.
"Savages" One of the support staff operatives blurted out.
In the room is Commanding Officer Major Allura Brooks, a thirty year old African British woman with dark green eyes, brown skin and long, curly black hair which is tucked into a neat bun and is wearing a military multicam uniform along with the rest of the operatives in the Military Intelligence Headquarters. Next to her is Lieutenant Coran Smythe, a Caucasian British half irish man with black eyes, short orange hair, and a bushy orange mustache and wearing a multicam uniform.
"This is the fifth MI6 operative killed in Pakistan and this time it's our contact." Said Allura. "Amir Tabbal was operating in Pakistan for two years and was even ex-special forces of the British SBS."
"This has to be ISI doing." Said Coran. "There's no bloody way in hell that they managed to find out who those operatives are...they even killed one of my friends' operatives from MI6. His operative was very deep inside Pakistan giving information about ISI and a few terrorist cells operating there."
"Possibly but-"
Suddenly the tv screen change and shows images information of a middle eastern woman with long black hair, green eyes and have brown skin and wearing a suit
"Sergeant Trigel Khan." Allura explained. "One of ours. Ex-Royal Marine Commando and has valuable information about who's really responsible for this and needs to be extracted out of the country before these hostiles get to her."
"We're going to need a covert extraction team to get her out...a team who can get in and get out without drawing attention to the Pakistani government and even ISI."
"I've recruited new lions who can do the job and I'll be leading them."
Coran then turns to Allura with a questionable look on his face curious about her decision.
"You sure about these Yanks?" Coran asked.
"I'm positive." Said Allura. "I'll be joining them at the airfield and brief them on the Hercules. They should already be there."
1630 Hours
Suffolk, England
Royal Air Force Mildenhall
In the airfield next to a C130 is a team in civilian attire checking their gear and waiting for someone to meet with them. They are most likely the new recruits for Allura's Military Intelligence Unit. All of them seem like their still in their twenties. One is Hunk Momoa, a young Samoan American man who is taller than the rest of the recruits and muscular, has medium brown skin, black medium haircut rather short, his bangs reaching just under his eyes, while the rest of his hair barely reaches his neck and has a beard and brown eyes and is wearing a orange long sleeve shirt with a green sleeveless jacket over it, green pants and sneakers. The other is Lance Santo, a young Cuban American man who is built as a athlete, has with light brown skin, short brown hair which has two strands of hair that sprout from the top of his head, thin eyebrows, and blue eyes and even has a scar on his right eyebrow and is wearing a blue button down shirt, white cargo pants and tactical shoes, next is Katie Holt, a young Italian American woman who is a moderate height in her twenties, slightly muscular build, has short light brown hair with two strands of hair that sprout from the top of her head, one slightly longer than the other, brown eyes but also wears glasses, and fair skin and is wearing a blue jean jacket over her green shirt and blue jeans pants and sneakers. The last recruit is Keith Yeun, a young Korean American man who is built as a martial artist athlete, with pale skin, black hair with uneven-cut bangs that tend to sweep to the left of his face, length averaging just under his eyes, but framing his face slightly longer and curled at his cheekbones and the rest of his hair reaches the base of his neck, fairly thick eyebrows, and blue-gray eyes and is wearing a red long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and sneakers.
"So...how is it that four Americans like us are working for the Brits?" Questioned Lance.
"It's a Global unit." Pidge replied. "Meaning it's not just British or Americans but everybody in the task force."
"Still feel strange about it."
"You'll get used to it."
"Well...can we introduce ourselves or are we going to be quiet all the time. I'll start first. I'm Lance Santos, former Marine Sniper."
Keith gives out a defeated sigh as he decided to go first.
"Keith Yeun...from the 75th Rangers."
"I'm Hunk Momoa...Rangers and EOD." Hunk introduced himself.
"Momoa? What kind of name is that?" Lance asked.
"It's Hawaiian. I'm half Samoan."
"What about you cutie? I'm guessing Air Force?" Lance asked Pidge who is busy checking her gear.
"Just call me Pidge and I'm Army...CST." Pidge answered.
"What that?"
"Cultural Support Team." Keith answered. "Most likely Rangers for women. Her job is to work with the female locals and children. Me and her served together since three years back."
"Huh...that's cool."
"Yeah but most of the women I was helping tried to kill me and my guys since they were working for Al-qaeda or Taliban." Said Pidge
"Yep woman strap explosives to their children, send then in to the crowded streets and press the detonator killing their children and everyone else."
"How can you reason with someone like that?" Hunk Momoa asked.
"With a 5.56 round to the head." Pidge answered.
Lance was then impressed of what military job that Pidge had and how she can take care of herself. Later a HMMWV drives up to the team and coming out from it is Allura where Keith, Pidge, Hunk and Lance give their full attention to her.
"Good...all of you here and most likely introduced yourselves. My name is Major Allura Brooks and I'm you're commanding officer of Voltron. Our mission today is to retrieve our own operative from Pakistan before she'll get killed by whoever hunting her and other undercover operatives stationed there. Five MI6 operatives were murdered in Pakistan and our operative have information who are responsible for these horrific attacks and we need to extract her."
"And we have to get out quickly before Pakistan government knows we're there." Keith guessed.
"Correct...even from ISI who might be behind these attacks. We get in, get Sergeant Khan and get out. This is a deniable op. Meaning no backup as no one will know that we're there rescuing our own. If the OP goes sideways, we will regroup at the United States Embassy and contact headquarters to figure out what to do."
Allura turns to the C-130 and walks into the plane with her gear.
"Welcome to Voltron, lions."
2258 hours
Karachi, Pakistan
It is now nightfall in the city in Pakistan and about to be midnight. In a apartment building, there is Sergeant Trigel Khan who is gathering her things. She even place some files into her suitcase. She then hears a knock on the which made her pull out her Glock and aims it at the door. Khan may think that it's the same people who kidnapped and executed the MI6 agent from the other day after she met her contact.
"أزرق. أزرق. (Blue. Blue)" Said a female voice on the other side of the door in arabic.
When Khan heard the codewords that's in Arabic, she holstered her pistol and opens the door. On the other side are Major Brooks and her team except for Hunk who is waiting in a car. Allura and her team are wearing robes with hoodies over their heads except for Allura and Pidge who are wearing hijabs over their heads and under their robes they're wearing casual civilian clothing but wearing tactical belts with pouches that holds ammo for their weapons and holsters for their pistols. Also underneath their shirts are their plate carriers. They are with modified AKMs fitted with eotech sights and suppressors and their sidearms are Glock pistols. Khan invited the team in. Allura removed her hijab as she wants to face Khan who was glad to see her.
"Glad to see you here, ma'am." Said Sergeant Khan.
"Glad to see that you're alive, Sergeant." Allura replied. "What can you tell us?"
"Ma'am...my contact told me that ISI are getting "
"Are these guys that good?" Keith asked.
"Yes but...someone has been giving information to ISI for them to snatch the agents and giving them to the people they hired them to kidnap."
Soon the sound of cars pulling up outside drew the attention of the Operators in the building. Even Hunk knew the the cars pulling up and had to ready his rifle.
"Is that more of you guys?" Khan asked as Keith went to the window quickly, looking outside to see who had pulled up outside.
"Shit… we're made we have to go now!" Keith said as he went to the door.
Opening the door, Keith saw two men running up the stairs with black shemagh over their heads and carrying AK rifles. Curse he raised up hid AK and open fired on the two men and killed them as a few bullets pierced into their bodies. After seeing two of their comrades dead, the rest of the attackers sprinted to the building. Keith, Lance and Pidge takes position as they were about to get into a gunfight.
"Time to go now!" Keith yelled to which Trigel nodded as she grabbed her gear.
"Alright. Let's get the fuck out of here." Trigel said drawing Keith's attention after grabbing her things.
As Keith turned his head to look at Trigel, an attacker threw a grenade up to their floor. As the grenade landed and rolled across the floor, the operators watched before some started rushing back into the room. Allura grabbed Khan and dragged her to the ground and into the wall, protecting her with her body, hoping her plate carrier would catch most of the fragmentation.
Outside, Hunk was taking fire as he was getting out from his SUV and had his head down to avoid the bullets flying above him. Coming outside are Lance and Pidge comes out of the building and helps Hunk get into the building providing covering fire.
"MOMOA MOVE!" Yelled Pidge.
"MOVING!" Yelled Hunk.
Hunk gets up and starts climbing up the stairs to get inside the room. Next was Pidge after pat Lance on the should and then rushes back to the apartment building while Lance provides covering fire. Lance was the last person outside taking on the armed men. Keith was next to the door and was providing covering fire to get his comrade in the building.
"SANTOS MOVE!" Yelled Keith.
"MOVING!" Lance yelled back.
Lance rushes back into the apartment building while Keith provides covering fire for him. Lance finally made it back into the building as he joins his teammates to hold off the armed men outside using his impressive marksmanship as he shot down and killed any combatant that is in his sights. More armed attackers keeps coming and soon the team are going to be surrounded and outnumbered.
"We need a way out of here!" Yelled Lance.
"No shit!" Pigde tells back as she ducks down and inserts a fresh magazine into her AK.
Hunk quickly thought of an idea as he quickly starts to dig into his backpack that he was able to pull out from his car and pulled out two Claymores and place them on the wall from the back of the room.
"Yo Hunk whatcha doing?!" Lance asked as he reloads his AK.
"Making an exit!" Hunk answered as he sets the explosives.
After arming the two claymores, Hunk stood back and pulled out a the two triggers that detonates the two explosives. When the team sees what Hunk about to do they starts to make room and cover their head so that they won't get caught in the blast as did the same to Major Brooks and Sergeant Khan.
"FIRE IN THE HOLE!" Hunk yelled.
Hunk triggered the charge and it exploded. After it explode, it created a giant hole in the wall which leads outside of the back of the apartment.
"That'll work!" Said Pidge.
"I got point!" Said Hunk.
Hunk got up and walks into the hole and the rest of the team follows.
"Lets go now!" Allura yelled to Trigel.
Allura helped Khan to their feet while the rest of the operators came out from the room through the hole in the wall, letting Allura and Trigel to trail behind a bit as Keith, Lance, Pidge and Hunk take point.
"Ma'am I can fight." Said Sergeant Khan.
"I know but we can't risk having you shot or killed." Said Major Brooks.
"Who the hell were those guys?" Lance asked.
"Possibility ISI." Keith answered. "Those guys can fight."
"Doesn't matter who these bastards are just fucking shoot them!" Hunk said as he checked the mag of his AK.
The team are now in the streets which people in the city starts to run for their lives when they saw the operators carrying their rifles. The team then knew that they have to get out of the city immediately before Pakistani police or military arrives.
"Hunk, Pidge." Allura said looking at the two. "Can you split off and find us a car and meet us here?"
"Will do, Major." Pidge excepted with a nod.
Pidge and Hunk starts to break off from the team as they look for a vehicle for the team to evac. As the rest of the team tries to hold off the ensuing onslaught of attackers.
"I swear there's more guys coming at us than the Chinese could throw at us." Said Lance.
"Are you seriously jinxing us right now?!" Keith questioned.
"Dude just shoot the bad guys and have some fun."
Suddenly more fighters who came round a corner and starts shooting at the operators and had to take cover as the four enters a market building. Keith and Lance returns fire on the attackers as they stand their ground until Pidge and Hunk arrives with cars.
"Hey Keith!" Lance called.
"What?!" Keith questioned while focusing on shooting at the attackers.
"Bet $50 I'll get more kills than you!"
"Seriously?!" Keith questioned and giving Lance a confused look on his face as he takes cover as he was getting shot at.
"Yeah seriously!"
"We're already in combat and you're fucking doing this now?! "Yeah starting now! You in?!"
Keith was completely confused that Lance wants to play bets with him while they're in a middle of a gunfight against unknown shooters. He thinks that there is something wrong with him. Before Keith could answered, Keith and Lance sees the attackers shooting at something else that's making their way to the market. It was Hunk and Pidge "commandeered" two cars and drove up to pick up the rest of the operators.
"LET'S GO!" Hunk yelled as he pulled up to the group.
The operators started piling into the cars as rounds flew all around them tearing up the surrounding walls. As the Operators got in Allura and Kahn had gotten separated from the group getting into Hunk's car. Cursing under their breath from the incoming fire the two got into Pidge's car and peeled out behind Hunk. As the two drove off from the area and watched as the attackers disappeared as they turned a corner. In the car the operators let out a small chuckle as they followed Hunk through the eerily quiet streets. Allura looked up to the rooftops of the passing buildings.
"RPG! Rooftop!" Allura yelled as the fighter with the RPG fired.
Pidge swerved off the main road and into an alley to escape the certain death if they continued following Hunk.
"Damn, we have to link up with everyone else." Sergeant Khan said looking out the rear window as the fireball from the RPG died down behind them.
"I'm working on it." Pidge said as she turned onto a street from the alley and started following it. "We'll follow this road and we should…"
As Pidge was explaining her plan to Allura and Khan a car rammed into their side as they drove through the intersection, sending them into the wall. Allura and Trigel slammed into each other in the back seat of the car, Allura laying on the floor groaning in pain, while Khan laid on the seat. Pidge however was slumped over the steering wheel unresponsive. Soon several more cars pulled up and several men with AKs got out, walking over to the car. As they were prying open the door Trigel looked up at them and her heart dropped as the door opened. As she went to grab her pistol, she was grabbed and yanked out of the car, landing on the hard pavement with a thud before one of the men gave her a swift kick to her head. As her vision blurred she watched as Allura was pulled from the car and the two were bound and her vision went dark as a black bag was put over her head. Listening to what was happening she could only assume that the group was put into a car and then drove off from the site of the crash.

How To Choose Right Custom Face Boxer
The Custom Face Boxer shorts are among the hottest and most searched after items on the internet today. These shalwar kameezes have now become a fashion trend among women across the globe. Their colors, designs and styles have changed completely with the passage of time. Initially these were designed and manufactured in bulk quantities, which explains their cost effectiveness. With the entry of online shopping and boutiques into the market the manufacturing has now spread widely and the prices have come down considerably.
FREE SHIPment over $ 49. Many customers who purchased this product also purchased several other similar items of the same brand, which has reduced the overall expenditure. Custom Face Boxer - Colorful, long legged comfort men's shorts.
Colors Available: The main factor that affects the price is the variety in which it is available. If you want to buy a single color then you will have to shell out more than if you want a multi-color collection. Black is by far the most popular color as far as men's clothing is concerned. However, this color is available in shades of blue, grey, white, pink, red etc. Apart from these colors, you can find them in different shades such as brown, peach, green, violet etc.
Designs: Men's clothing usually comes in solid colors. However, when it comes to designing their clothing they like to experiment with different patterns and shades. So, you will get a range of patterns in varying shades and colors. However, if you wish to buy a single item made of various materials then the cost will be very high.
Materials: Mostly, these clothes are available in cotton, linen, silk and wool. However, the ones that are made of 100% pure silk are the most expensive ones. If you can afford one then go for it.
The latest trends in men's clothing are tie and bow designs. This is also known as argyle. One can buy a bow tie made of silk or cotton too. Bow ties look really stylish and are liked by all. The same design is available as argyle but in textile fibers, so the price is slightly higher.
The face paint is also available these days. However, it is not advisable to choose one from the readymade designs. The paint on your face is easily removed and you might end up wearing an embarrassing mask. If you want to buy one in this style, then make sure that it is specifically designed to suit your face and has a smooth, glossy finish.
The colors that are available include blue, dark gray, black, light brown, and cream. One can also buy them in various shades such as tan, light honey, and metallic colors. No matter what the color is, it is advisable to buy from reputed stores.
One can choose from a wide range of designs. The one that you choose will certainly reflect your personality and taste. They are available in various materials too. One can opt for ones made of cotton, polyester and acrylic. Cotton is the most popular because it is soft and comfortable, while polyester provides strength and durability.
When it comes to styling the boxer, it is important to ensure that one selects the right one. Silk ones are the best. They are available in various shades, shapes and sizes. When the color has been altered at the bottom, then one has to buy new ones. If one wants to have the boxers look in the office then he can choose polo neck shirt made of cotton too.
The material should be chosen depending upon the climatic conditions. One should buy them from an accredited store. Cotton materials are very common because they are easily available. However, polyester is more preferable because it offers a better looking finish.
There are different brands available online. Therefore, one should buy them from a reliable brand so as to get a quality product at an affordable price. In addition to this, it should also be a good quality. For instance, if one wishes to buy custom face boxer in order to maintain a young-looking appearance then he should buy a pair that are made of natural fabric like cotton or silk.Read more...

The Innocent and the Beautiful by Iftekhar Sayeed https://ift.tt/2YcutQS In Bangladesh, CIA agent Maryam becomes a target for assassination and flees with her lover - but neither are sure where their loyalties lie; by Iftekhar Sayeed.
"The death of 1.7 million children through sanctions in Iraq has aroused no interest whatsoever in the drawing rooms of Bangladesh, as far as agent Maryam has been able to judge." Something seemed to trouble Maryam, as her fingers hovered above the keyboard; the hum of the air-conditioner rose above the tap-tap of her fingers; she smelled the starched pillows and breathed heavily; in the light from the quite redundant lamp, she deleted 'death' and typed 'murder'. She sighed relief, turned off the laptop, disengaged the wireless modem, switched off the lamp, and turned on her side to get some sleep.
I hated her. So I avoided the street - road 9A, Dhanmandi - where she worked and waited for a trishaw or an auto rickshaw every weekday at around 5:00. The situation was dire. After the Gulf and Af-Pak wars, the mujahideen had grouped themselves together, as elsewhere, in Bangladesh, as freedom fighters. No empire can exist without collaborators, and the local elite and government both sided with the American and European powers. A death-squad was formed with the aid of the imperial west, and an unknown number of jihadis died in so-called 'cross-fires', the euphemism for assassination. It was then that the jihadis changed strategy. Instead of bombs and bullets, which had to be bought abroad and smuggled in, they resorted to - knives. An expert 'Knifer', as they came to be called, could aim for a target's heart from a distance safe enough for a get-away. Less efficient ones would stab in a busy thoroughfare, or operate from shadows. The frequent power failures were a boon. The targets also were changed. Instead of attacking government buildings with bombs or agents of the state with bullets, they went for members of what is known politely as 'civil society'. The collaborators, they had figured out, were to be found among the academics and artists who gave legitimacy to collaboration. Two of their biggest kills were a lawyer and an economist, both PhDs from American universities. And where did feminine, friendly Maryam fit in all this? I first met her at the intellectual salon of a socialite: she wore a light green chiffon saree that went with her fair complexion, her dark eyes, dark brows; her arms were bare and I could imagine the rest of her. She asked pointed questions about politics and society, and then sat back, legs crossed, listening in earnest. It was flattering to be heard like that. Soon, we were lovers, meeting regularly in my flat. It was after one of our devouring love-makings that she came out with it. "I actually work for the CIA, Zafar." By then she knew my views, knew how I would feel, and that prompted her to be frank. "After all, we're all collaborators." She was right there: we were all collaborators. And what was the nature of her collaboration? "Nothing much: I just listen in on conversations and ask questions and report what people are thinking and saying. It's not much, Zafar. I just collaborate a bit more closely, that's all." That was the last time we met.
On this fateful day, I spotted her on road 9A, waiting for her usual trishaw. There was traffic on the road, but I stayed focused. She was in a red-and-black shalwar-kameez, her arms bare, revealing teasingly her white shoulders and armpits. Then our eyes met: fortunately I looked away, and watched with horror a man, pillion-riding on a motorcycle, raise a knife towards Maryam. "Maryam, get down!" I screamed, and ran towards the bike. The knife missed, as she ducked. The bike wove between the vehicles, and disappeared. "That was close, Maryam," I said, panting, as I reached her crouching figure. She was weeping. "They tried to kill me!" she repeated. It was as if she couldn't believe that they would try to kill her. And they would try again. Nowhere in Dhaka was safe for her anymore. I could feel eyes watching us, reporting, sharing... Bystanders began to gather around, so I grabbed her arm and asked her if she had any money. She nodded, wiping away her tears. I had some money, enough to buy a pair of tickets. I hailed a trishaw and we made our way towards Kolabagan. We were greeted at the counter of Shohag bus service by the usual smell of urine emanating from the toilet inside. The day was hot and humid, and we were both perspiring. Inside, we sat at the back of the stifling room, a few fans whirring overhead. Our bus wouldn't leave until 11:00. There were a few passengers waiting for the next bus. "You mustn't cry here, Maryam. Let's not draw attention to ourselves. We'll be safe in a few hours." I went out, bought a mild sedative, and a bottle of cola. I made a call to Sujon Chakma from my mobile. His bungalow would be ready for us. The cola was cool against the parching throat. "There's something I have to tell you, Zafar." Her voice sounded cracked. She poured the cola down her mouth. "Not now. We'll have a chance to talk later." After interminable minutes, the Chakma boys and girls began to appear. They were headed home: to the hills in the south-east, to Khagrachari and beyond. They spoke in their dialect which I could vaguely decipher. You could tell them, not only by the language, but the slanted, Tibetan eyes. They were mostly students, but now and then a couple with a child would plump down in the seats before us. I kept a watchful eye open for any of my race. The bus left promptly at 11:00. We would be at Khagrachari by dawn. Most of the journey would be over hills, after the left turn at Baroier Hat at Feni. We stopped at night at a road-side restaurant where I forced Maryam to eat some rice and - very spicy - chicken curry. I was ravenous, and thirsty. Fear had been relegated to remoter parts of the mind. Fatigue began to take over. We reached Baroier Hat just before sunrise. The buses - a Shohag, two S. Alams, and a BRTC bus - stopped to form a convoy, for the road was potentially dangerous. Armed bands, carryovers from a recent insurgency, roamed the hills. Outside, there were five policemen in steel-grey shirts, blue trousers, green felt boots and deep purple berets. Each had a rifle. They all got on our bus, which was a relief, and then we started. At Jaliapara, they got off. We went a little further ahead and two policemen got on - they sat on the raised leatherette bench next to the driver. The one nearest me was called Selim - his shoulder-tag said as much. He was dark with close-cropped hair. The other one was fairer. Selim cradled a rifle on his lap. He held a black walkie-talkie in his right hand, close to his mouth, though he wasn't speaking. The magazines were in a holder attached to his belt at the hip. The other policeman held a rifle between his thighs, nozzle upward. Neither men wore a beret - not very surprisingly, given the heat. They got off a after a few minutes. It was a switchback road. We watched the sun rise - a pale, orange disk - above the forested hills. The gibbous moon floated like a spectre in the west, trying to steal light. The sky was cloudlessly blue. We now turned east, then completely west, the sun now on our right, now on our left. We were bending every way. The sides of the road were sometimes sheer drops of several hundred feet - into seeming green jungle. Sometimes a green wall rose on our right and a sheer drop sloped to our left. Sometimes the road was a break between two hills. The colour was green - green bamboo groves, green banana leaves, green teak leaves, tall green grass. The sun became less benign. From orange, it turned gold. The relative cool of dawn evaporated. The golden rays beat down on our heads. Maryam was nodding in sleep. Various vehicles crossed us and we overtook various others. One pick-up was stacked with bamboo poles; another with jackfruit. We overtook trucks laden with goods under brown canvas. There were regular sentry posts roofed with bamboo and with bamboo sides on hill-tops. Sometimes a soldier with a walkie-talkie could be seen. Tribal women in bright thamis and blouses worked on hillsides. The road ascended towards Alutila and then descended, with many a spiral in either direction. At times, one espied a bend in the road up ahead or below, a graceful inflection. We drove through seemingly ghost towns and deserted bazaars. Only the fascias of the stores spoke to us: STAR cigarette, one announced in blue and white, was bright with its own light. The people were still asleep. Maryam had woken up, and the majesty of the scene held her in submission a while. But she finally spoke above the clatter of the bus and the moan of the engine. "I have to tell you something, Zafar." "The Knifers have put you on their hit list, Maryam." She shook her head vigorously. "They weren't the Knifers." I was surprised, but I didn't want to talk about it then. "Look!" I pointed to egrets flying in echelon. I had seen the knifer, taking aim, casting his missile. What was she talking about? The taste of fear, a dryness of the mouth, a quickening of the pulse, returned.
We got off before the bus reached Alutila. "But there's nothing here!" insisted the driver, his mouth red from chewing betel leaf. I nodded, and got off. The passenger next to him on the leatherette chair continued to sleep with his mouth open. It was good that nobody had noticed, except the driver and his sleepy helper. We disappeared among the teak trees. I soon found the faint footpath that led to Sujon's bungalow. Sujon was an affluent businessman, and he built a modest retreat in the forest for friends like me to spend a few pensive days in. I say 'modest' but it had all the creature comforts of home. The bungalow of whitewashed walls and green, sloping tin roof stood in a clearing in the forest. "Sahib, you have arrived!" The disembodied voice belonged to Robindro Tripura, caretaker of the place. He appeared from behind the trees, a short, dark, stocky character in a lungi. He looked from one of us to the other, for we were quite a sight. It wasn't so much the fatigue as the stress of running that had got the better of us. "I have made omelette and bread," he announced, and draped his coloured towel over his shoulder. The inside of a forest has a stifling humidity. Cicadas crooned without cease. Needless to say, we downed the breakfast in a trice. Next, we proceeded to drink a gallon of water. Robindro told us that the shower was ready and before leaving for the city, informed me that he would try to get clothing for the lady the next day. Considerate Robindro! I stood in the shower, washing off the heat, the fear, the sweat, and the stress. I just stood there, forgetting everything. When I entered the bedroom, I found a showered and refreshed Maryam sitting on the edge of the bed. She wore one of my striped shirts - and nothing else. After we made love like enemies, we got under the sheet and lay there, each with separate thoughts. She was the first to speak. "Do you hate yourself for making love to me?" I did, so I said nothing. "You don't have to. I have a lot to say, Zafar." Her voice came soft and contrite. "I'm listening," I said, opening my eyes, and gazing into hers. I thought again how mesmerizing were those dark circles. "After you left me, I found I was pregnant." I sat up. "What? You should have -" "What would have been the use? You hated me! You wouldn't have married me, and even if you had, what kind of marriage would it have been? Anyway, marriage was out of the question for me as well. I had the abortion soon after." I lay back, breathing a sigh. "But that's not all. Having nearly been a mother, I began to realize what those Iraqi mothers must have gone through. Thank God we didn't meet then, Zafar! My mind was so confused. I stopped seeing everyone. My work for the agency came to a stop." She paused, frightened, for a Tokay gecko had suddenly broken out into its mating call from the roof of the bungalow. "It's all right, it's just a lizard; it won't hurt." "Then I began to work for the agency again. But this time I passed on the messages to the Knifers as well. I started telling them about potential targets, about the biggest collaborators, about the worst of the lot... And the agency found out." "The Knifers would never have tried to kill you, then." "No. It was the agency, imitating the Knifers." "O Maryam, why didn't you tell me all this before? We could have worked it all out together!" "No, Zafar, there are some things you have to work out alone. But now we are together." We put our arms around each other. Then we fell into a deep, long sleep, lulled by the whizzing fan beating down its breeze.
I woke to the scent and rhythm of rain. The bedroom was dark. How long had we slept? The taste of fear had worn off, and hunger remained. While Maryam was still asleep, I warmed up some beef curry and rice in the microwave oven. Then we swooped hungrily. The power failed. We sought some coolth in the netted verandah. It had stopped raining, and in the evening, between the teak trees, we could see the stars. Crickets chirped and frogs croaked. There were no other sounds. "I am wondering about our next move, Maryam," I said. We sat beside each other in plastic chairs. A nightjar called. The air smelled fresh after the rain, and the leaves murmured. The taste of fear had given way to the taste of curry. But we could see nothing around us, only the stars through a chink. She snuggled close to me, in her shirt. "I'm not thinking at all, Zafar. I'm safe here with you." I smiled in the darkness. If only it were so simple. How long would it be before the agency knew where we were? After all, the entire state was at their disposal. "Look!" I said involuntarily. "What?" She raised her head from my shoulder. A solitary blinking appeared above the horizon in the east. It was too slow to be a plane, which would also have had several lights. "It's a satellite," I observed. "Do you think it can see us?" "Not in this power failure," she giggled, and we both laughed. The satellite went out of view between the leaves, and in its stead rose, in a few minutes, a red apparition. "Antares!" I breathed. "What?" "The opposite of Ares, the god of war," I explained. "How I love that name! An-ta-res!" The opposite of war, the affirmation of peace, how I love Antares! "Can we ever have peace, Zafar?" In the dark, I could sense her looking up at me. My breast heaved. I dared not reply, for fear of breaking down. "Can we ever be husband and wife and mother and father?" I swallowed. "Why not?" I asked without conviction. Then her mobile rang. She spoke a few words, and turned to me. "It's them, the mujahideen. They wish to speak to you." "Yes?" I spoke into the phone. "I see... Yes... I understand... Yes, I'll see you there." "What did they want?" I hung up. "They want me to meet them tomorrow at Labanga in Dhaka." Then the power came on, and she had tears. I never thought I would never see her again.
Labanga was a kebab restaurant on Mirpur Road on the first floor overlooking the drag. I walked past the glowing embers, emanating heat and the odour of burnt meat, past the counter, and up the steel stairs. I sat in the corner table next to the door, overlooking the street, and ordered four plates of kebab and nan as instructed. The room was air-conditioned, and outside, in the sunny heat, the traffic jammed on Mirpur Road. I waited. Finally they arrived. They wore pyjamas and punjabis, and turbans and beards. There were three of them, and they drew the chairs around me. "Zafar sahib," began the eldest of them. "Salaam walaikum." They salaamed me each in turn and I salammed them. There was a noisy family, with husband and wife and two children, in the other corner. Two men ate silently at the next table. The men and I began to eat without speech. "Zafar Sahib," resumed the eldest. "The less you know about us the better," I nodded. "Zafar sahib," spoke the eldest through his graying beard and moustache. His eyes were gentle. "You have written in our favour despite your unbelief." "I am an agnostic," I said, swallowing the kebab, "and this is my civilisation." "We know your views. Please tell us where Maryam Apa is, and we'll take her to safety." "You mean, outside the country." "Probably. But I cannot say for her sake." "I'll never see her again?" "No." "Why?" "Look across the street." I looked through the tinted window, and the tangle of wires. A man in black pants and white shirt paraded the other side of the pavement. "You have been followed," he said, calmly ingesting kebab and nan. "The moment you entered Dhaka, you were followed." "So what do we do now?" I asked. "He'll be taken care of." And he was. A stream of men and women flowed past the figure, but one stopped to ask for a cigarette flame; after which, the figure sprawled on the sidewalk, clutching a knife-blade in his belly. "Let us leave." I paid the bill, and hurriedly left with the three men.
Since then, every year, I have been to the cottage in Khagrachari, and have watched Antares rise.
