Just finished watching blue eye samurai and I find afew points revealed very interesting because the line "the people looking for you are looking for a girl so you have to be a boy, always a boy" after adding the context that wasn't her mother but her "maid" PAID to keep her safe it really makes it seem like "the bad men" weren't just after her for being a "half breed" because her features alone give that away boy or girl, they were after this "half breed" specifically.

Being paid to keep her safe is also such an interesting detail probably implying her actual mother or somebody else assumably had wealth or connection to it but what a TWIST it would be if it was her father who had those good intentions.

I also think it's a possibility they were after her specifically because of who her father was? Can't have her tarnishing a name ect.

Googled if the show was based off a real historical event or person before I made this post and it turns out the creators got the idea after their own child was born with blue eyes in my opinion that ups the tiny possibility of her father being written to be chill with her but doesn't solidify it

And how GUT WRETCHING would that be? Swearing to kill all four men who possibly sired you bc you've been convinced your conception was wrong and made you a demon and going on a war path for it, for revenge for the act of even making you, and not knowing which man specifically and all of them there assumably to smuggle dangerous shit into your country you decide to kill them all. Only to meet THE culprit THE man who did it and he tells you.. he doesn't think you're a demon at all. Id shit my pants if they went that route.

Or interestingly we continue getting flashbacks and it turns out that's what happened with the first white man she killed, where they both didn't know if she was his child or not and in his final moments he said something of that sort and Mizu just believed that opinion didn't matter, or he was just saying something of that sort to try and get out alive. Idk!!!! Patiently sits here for the 2-3 more years we have until season 2.

I seem to like when female characters act like a male and also look so. There should be more of them. I kind of wished that she would not have shown any interest to the male but it was needed I suppose. More series about someone trying to pass as other than their gender in historical times would be nice

SPOILERS 🌊Blue eyed samurai🌊

Blue eyed samurai is an absolute masterpiece. I was truly surprised that Netflix could bring such a story to their platform.

I love that it’s truly a story about revenge and (in the beginning at least) no one is telling Mizu off for wanting it. She’s not a hero and she puts herself first in most situations, which is very understandable since she is a woman in disguise. She can’t step in and help other people, risking her cover and quest for revenge.

Even though she makes selfish decisions and treat people poorly, we as a viewer understand why. Mizu is often on guard and keep people at a distance, but she truly cares. When Ringo wants to become her apprentice, she keeps reminding him it’s alright if he wants a normal and safe life, because she doesn’t want him to get hurt. She doesn’t want to be in a situation where she can’t save him.

She keep pushing people away throughout the whole series and in her mind she is protecting them from certain death. She knows her quest for revenge most likely will be a death sentence.

It’s only in the last few episodes she accepts the fact that she loves and is loved by the people around her. She realise she couldn’t have made it so far without them beside her.

Although she trust them in the final battle of the season, she still leaves everyone behind. Which I believe shows that she is still full of self hatred. She can’t let go of her revenge and she can’t bring herself to put the ones she loves in danger.

It obviously makes sense why she can’t let go. We’ve seen her live a life where she had forgotten about revenge. She lived a life of peace and love, but then that was ripped away from her through betrayal. How could she ever believe that she could truly be at peace when the people she loved the most left her to die.

I’m very excited to see her journey and hopefully see her grow into a woman who can at least accept herself and the love of others.

I’m also absolutely in love with all the powerful women in this show and how they show strength in different ways. Akemi’s journey was so frustrating but fascinating, she truly blew my expectations.
