Honest Opinion: Rainbow Six Siege Blood Orchid New Characters

I have been a huge fan of Rainbow Six ever since it was first released in 2015. I played on my PS4 console, but I stopped playing a little bit after Operation Health dropped because I felt that it got dry due to the lack of new operators. Recently, I got back into Rainbow Six because I was curious about the new expansion Blood Orchid.

I was very excited to see that there were three new operators to choose from- Ying, Lesion, and Ela. There was also a new map called Theme Park which I think fails because it doesn't offer new or unique content from the previous releases. There was also a ton of new fixes to characters and game play, which is very noticeable and satisfying. For this review, I’ll be limiting myself to just the characters.

CHARACTERS

Ying is a female offensive operator with medium speed and armor. She has two primaries which include a brand new light machine gun called the T-95 LSW and a brand new shotgun named the SIX12. Yings big gadget is the Candela, which is a gadget that you can throw or shoot through walls and it will produce a cluster of flash bangs that stun players except you. I played with each gun and I am extremely pleased with the way they play. They each promote super aggressive play styles with the Candela ability and breach charges, that can crush the enemy team if played correctly. I think Ying is a thoroughly thought out character and is one of my favorite attackers.

Lesion is a male defensive character that has an ability called Gu and has two primaries which include the T-5 SMG and the SIX12 shotgun. He also has medium speed and armor. His Gu ability are mines that you throw on the floor and they go camouflage to the enemy team. When they get stepped on, they produce a toxin that consistently damages you until you die, unless you follow the in-game prompts to take them out. To me this operator seems to be a combination of Kapkam and Echo. I don’t think that this operator is really new or exciting in a way where he could change the game in a dramatic way.

The last operator is the solo Polish operator named Ela. She is a defense character with maxed out speed and super low armor. Her ability is called the Grzmot mine which can be anchored on surfaces and when triggered will detonate and release an electric affect that blinds and dizzies the enemy. The mines also act like a tracking device because whenever they get activated, they show where the mine was triggered and you can get a better idea of the enemies location. Her two primaries include a submachine gun called the Scorpion EVO 3 A1 and a shotgun named the F0-12. I tend to like playing Ela as a roaming character because of her speed, which allows her to get behind enemies quickly and kill them from behind. In my opinion this makes Ela one of the most fun and best defensive characters in the game.
