PART 2

Bill didn’t sign up for this.

He glanced around at his fellow gang members as the kid let out another shrill cry.

The kid was couldn’t’ve been two. He was small, in a can and from it’s shivering Bill could guess very cold.

“Aw hell..”

Lifting up the tyke, Bill grimaced as he pealed off the what he could only assume was some sort of blanket and blindly handed behind himself.

“What the fuck is on that shit?”

“What the fuck would I know Maven? Do we look like a baby experts? Kind of smells like blood..”

“Blood ain’t green Ken..”

“Did I say it looked like bloo-“

“Will you two quit yapping? The kid doesn’t look too good someone hand me a jacket.”

Bill cut the off as he ran a hand over the kid’s back. After a quick round of rock paper scissors, Marv handed over his hoodie with a pout.

‘The kid is way too small’

Bill grimaced as he tried his best to wrap the kid tightly. He could probably his fingers around the kid’s waist and still be able to drop a penny between them.

“Was there anything else left with ‘im Bill? A name or-?”

“Not unless it’s on a candy wrapper.”

Bill sneered as he kicked the trash can over,

“There’s a lot of types of fucked up in Gotham but to leave a babe outside in January..”

Marv pluck the kid out of Bill’s hands and gently bounced him on his hip. Cooing gently as the boy’s blue eyes started to close before smiling and asking,

“So what’re we goin’ to name him? I vote Danny. He looks like a Danny.”

“Ayy no, we’re not naming him nothing. We are gang members, Hood’s gang but still. What we are going to do is clean and warm him up before we set him down at the Wayne foundation’s-“

Bill paused Marv let out a shriek. The kid had let out a sneeze. Usually wouldn’t’ve been that big of an issue but there was now a very big patch of ice on the building’s side that wasn’t there before.

The kid’s a meta.

Could a kid his age even become a meta?

“We can’t take him to the foundation Bill.”

Ken muttered,

“The Bat will be notified day one an’ send him packing. Tough enough in the system as is, the second he has that M on his papers his chances of a normal childhood is zero.”

“And what do you think we can do about it? In case you forgot, our boss works with the bats.”

“We can hide him!”

Marv chimed in,

“There’s a couple dozen of us around, I’m sure if we just ask-”

“Are you hearing yourself speak? Hide him from the bats. It won’t work.”

Bill pinched the bridge of his nose as leaned against the alley.

“So that’s it we’re just going let the kid be push around the country? He didn’t came from a happy home Bill! The system will eat him alive and then there will be a freeze jr. in 15 to 20 years! Shhh shhh sorry Dan-Dan sorry, Calm down baby.”

Bill watched as Marv continued to shush the baby. For being gang member Marv has always been a gentle soul, everyone knew his soft spot for kids.

“Fuck…”

Ken chuckled as he ruffled “Danny’s” hair.

“Done being a dick?”

“Yeah, yeah.. yuck it up you two. If this blows up in your faces than I want no part of it.”

“Come on Danny let’s go find you some food. There’s got to be a convenience open somewhere around here!”

Bill sighed as the two exited the alley with the gurgling baby. Hiding him from Red hood was going to be impossible but at this point he knew when to give up a fight.

Taking one last glance Bill let out a weary chuckle and looked to the sky.

“I should’ve never left the goonion..”

Do you have any nicknames? Not stereotypical ones like “honey, sweetie”, but ones that maybe a character won’t like at first but grows to love??

Character Nickname Ideas

Hmmm this is actually a tricky one to answer.

Each character will have their own set of cultural backgrounds, quirks, strengths, weaknesses and relationship dynamics, which can all contribute to a nickname.

Here are some common things writers do for nicknames:

Shorten their given name. Mireya becomes Rey. Christopher becomes Chris.

Alter their given name. If you add a “y” sound, it implies the person using the nickname thinks of the character as young or childlike. So Alexa becomes Lexie. William becomes Billy.

Base their nickname on a physical trait. This can be straightforward or ironic. The large man is Tiny. The pretty girl named Honor is Bell/Beauty.

Pick a personality trait. School kids might call your main character Sassy Cassy. The con man might be called Prince Charming because of his smooth-talking skills.

Base their nickname on their profession or an accomplishment. So many characters are called Doc, Prof, or Chairman.

Base it on Monsters: ie. Balrog, Loch, Golen, Orthros, Baal, etc.

Base it on Mythology. Lots of authors have used names from Greek/Roman mythology, and readers have loved it!

Here are two personal examples:

Use initials. My name is Junhui Lee, and those who aren't familar with Asian names struggle to pronoun it correctly. So I just go by "JH"

In Korean culture, (1) people's names are usually three chracters: ie. Jun+hui+Lee and (2) We put surnames in front, not at the back of our names: ie. Lee Junhui, not Junhui Lee. Close friends would address each other as "surname + first character of the given name". So my friends would call me Lee Jun.

A character not liking their nickname

Doesn't necessary mean it has to be a funny nickname. They can dislike it because they somehow feel like only their parents/siblings call them that, or they feel childish, or the tone in which the other person says it is too teasing.

Depends on the origin and meaning behind the nickname. Was it made up by bullies in primary school and its just happened to stick? Was it given to them by their late grandparents? The anme

Hey, do you remember this irritating little turd?

Yeah, that one. From Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends. Remember how it was frequently annoying how he was constantly antagonistic towards his friends, made his own best friend be constantly annoyed by him, and was just sometimes the worst character in the show? Turns out that there's a reason for that.

Apparently, Craig McCracken WANTED Bloo to experience this neat little writing trick called "Character Development." But Cartoon Network, wanting more of an episodic sitcom, gave a big fat no to that idea. Because they wanted this series to have no continuity, they had to make sure that the characters couldn't develop. And that is...nonsense for a number of reasons.

These shows came out the same time as Foster's:

The continuity wasn't MAJOR with these shows, you can still watch any episode at random from either of them and still have a good time. BUT they still had this sense of subtle progression where characters, villains, and little touches in the story. Granted, they're both more along the lines of action adventure stories instead of sitcoms, but KND is a lot more or less the same as Foster's in terms of characters going on goofy adventures and being a comedy for kids. It just so happened that the comedy could be taken a little seriously at times. Besides...

Sitcoms CAN have character development and continuity. You can watch any episode of either of these shows too, BUT there's a noticeable sense of character progression and continuity from all of them. Sometimes it's something simple as a character dating someone else at a certain point or a change in location or even when a character is working a certain job or not. Character development and continuity can still exist and work in making an episode enjoyable without previous context, but seeing these characters grow, even in subtle ways, is great. Mainly because...

Character development is NOT a bad thing. Far from it, in fact. If anything, it makes watching a show more interesting as you can look back at how a character USED to act with a fond nostalgia of "Man, remember when they used to act like THAT?" And then look at how they CURRENTLY act with the sense of, "Wow, this character's really grown up in the last few seasons." And while it feels SLOW in some cases, it gives the sense that the character can learn, grow, and BE BETTER despite how they might have started off. Even Foster's understood this, because...

The Show HAS character development AND continuity. Like how Cheese just didn't exist in the show until a certain point and became a main stay for the entire series. Or how Goo was introduced as another main stay character. Not only that, but after her introduction as this overly imaginative little girl, she learned her lesson to cool down her over imagination so she wouldn't cause the exact same problems in the future but still faced a NEW problem with her imagination that she and the others could learn from. Like it or not, that IS character development AND continuity. It's just that other characters can experience it instead of Bloo. But fine. They wanted to make Bloo a stagnant character who never changes? Sure. I can accept that...Except for one last thing.

DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE HIM SO IRREDEEMABLE?! In fairness, the bus episode IS entertaining, but that still shows how Bloo, as a character, went through regression instead of development. He's not the same as he started in the first season. Heck, he's not the same as he was in the FIRST THREE EPISODES. There, he was written as brash and a bit immature, but still apologetic and polite in certain spaces. He was even about to object to Wilt giving him the bed, but Wilt was too polite to let Bloo refuse his offer. If this was the Bloo in future seasons, he would have guilt tripped Wilt into giving him the bed and would have been the first to suggest Wilt would sleep on the floor.

If the show wasn't allowed to make Bloo develop, I can understand that. Networks and studios can kiss all the asses. But when it got to the point where I couldn't understand why Mac was friends with Bloo anymore, it leaves me wondering why they had to highlight his worst qualities instead of his best ones? To quote MY favorite character in this show, "I'm sorry, but that is NOT okay." The writers have my sympathy, it's not easy trying to appease your network overlords while still making the show good. But if Bloo's an example of anything, it's that studios should trust showrunners more and that character development is NEVER a sin.

So we headcanon that Mac eventually moves into Foster's once he comes of age, and not only does he get his own room, Bloo does too. And Bloo decorates his room with the following:

1: Christmas lights all year round

2: A Scarface (1983) poster (and you just know Bloo is totally one of those white suburban kids obsessed with "gangsta" stuff who thinks Tony Montana and Breaking Bad's Walter White are the coolest guys ever)

3: A Bob Marley poster (Bloo's totally one of those white suburban kids who stans Bob Marley less for his music and more because he smoked weed)

4: The poster of John Belushi in Animal House wearing the "COLLEGE" sweater

5: A Family Guy wall calendar

6: A poster of Heath Ledger's Joker from The Dark Knight (another character he thinks is the coolest guy ever)

Warner Bros has now announced a lot of new revivals and reboots now.

First are two more Adventure Time series. "“Side Quests” takes the franchise back to a kid’s show, marking a return to early days with kid Finn and best buddy Jake fighting monsters on epic quests in an episodic series, eschewing the long story arcs of later “Adventure Times.” “Side Quests” looks set in the same world as the early original repeating characters such as villain The Ice King. Nate Cash, a creative (2012-13) and then supervising director (Season 5) on “Adventure Time,” figures as the series creator."

And Heyo BMO which is "The first-ever “Adventure Time” pre-school series. “In the fantastical Land of Ooo, the little robot BMO is on a new adventure. Now settled in a new neighborhood with new friends, BMO approaches each challenge he faces with his unique brand of enthusiasm and curiosity in a quest to learn and fill his database,” the description runs. Adam Muto, “Adventure Time” showrunner from mid-Season 5, returns as the main creative talent alongside Ashlyn Anstee, a storyboard artist on “Distant Lands.”"

Next is an Adventure Time movie (after several years of rumors) with Rebecca Sugar and Patrick McHale helming it.

Regular Show will have a new series with JG Quintel returning to run it and featuring new characters with some characters from the original series, though it's unknown if Mordecai and Rigby will be involved this time.

The Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends revival is called Foster’s Funtime for Imaginary Friends. Aimed at preschoolers, "a now-young group of preschool imaginary friends learns from an immature elder friend, Bloo, who, as in the original, still unintentionally gets things wrong. McCracken has promised the same fast pace but a fun, simpler structure and less cynical humor. Only Bloo and Madame Foster return."

And a new Scooby Doo series called Go Go Mystery Machine. "“While visiting Japan on the ultimate foodie adventure, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo unwittingly unleash hundreds of mischievous mythical monsters that are now causing trouble all over the country,” the description runs.  Scooby turns to his uncle, Daisuke-Doo, and magical friend Etsuko and gadget wiz Toshiro to help solve the mystery and catch the monsters. "

Okay next time just link the article, but yeah there's a LOT in this to unpack and i'm thankful to know all this happened. Starting with the Adventure Time Pile, while these were likely already in the works on some level I wouldn't be suprised if they were waiting to see if Fionna and Cake was a success before announcing them. And honestly.. i'm all for them.

Side Quests sounds like a fun idea, a way to introduce new viewers to Finn and Jake and get them invested in the old series, while giving fans a nostaligia hit, as well as giving kids who may not be ready for Fionna and Cake yet a show. I do hope this means younger than where we started with adventure time as it'd be intresting to see some of the cast in a diffrent place in their lives, but I suspect it'll be likely set during season 1 or 2. Either way not a bad idea, could be nothing, could be a lot of fun. A way to have more finn and jake without undermining what they've built.

BMO's show sounds like a lot of fun and i'm glad to see after all the other preschool cancelations Warner's stillt rying in that regard. Probably not something i'll watch but a good idea regardless.

Finally the movie. HOLY SHIT i'm so pumped for this. The other two projects have my intrest, this one has my attention. Bringing back Rebecca for a full movie that may likely answer what the fuck happened to jake (I doubt it but I can dream can't I?), and finally follows up on the heroes themselves directly, I can't wait.

Fosters Funtime: While I do hope Frankie and Herriman show up eventually, I do love this concept and the teaser animation. It looks really creative and loose and the idea of having Bloo be the deliberate bad exmaple in a pre school show is genius. This one I may check out.

Regular Show 2: Regular Harder: THis one... was a bit of a relief as I figured something like this was in the works as JG Quintel was WAY too fucking calm after what Warner did to Close Enough. So my guess was he had something in the works with warner and thus couldn't speak out like the many other creators who got screwed over. I wouldn't of put it past warner to try and revive regular show without him.

This won't fill the hole in my heart that close enough left.. but it'll help and I like that it sounds like a soft reboot: Mordecai and Rigby are probably gone outside of eithe ra supporting role for Rigbone or a guest spot down the way, but it'll likely take place at the park and follow the next generation of park workers, along with Benson and Skips. It'd be intresting to see what the gen z version of park slackers would be like, and ther'es plenty of room to have other characters intersect. I also hope they give CJ actual closure. That last part's a pipe dream but I can hope can't I?

Go-Go Mystery Machine!: This one i'm fucking HYPED for. It's the first children's scooby doo show in a while since the pre school show got scraped and given I've struggled to get through any of velma and the netflix show is probably a ways away, this sounds like a fun format break: an anime take on 13 ghost that still feels unqiue and fresh and gets into japanese mythology, somewhere Scooby Doo really hasn't gone. Pumped for this

Lovey Dovey: Not a reboot.. but still sounds like a LOT of fun: a lovesick wedding dove trying to find his true love ends up with a crowd of pidgeons who want to fuck a big bird stand in. It's goofy, looks nicely looney tunes, and seems like a great concept.

All in all not a bad crop. I'm not a fan of Warner's reliance on IP.. but it's good projects all around.

Five minutes.I leave them for five minutes and they are gone.I would go look for them…but by the time i have realised they were gone it was to late.So the only thing i could do was wait.And wait i did the whole day in fact.

I was leaning against the wall next to the entrance to the Last Drop.Why? Well its the only place they will come to after coming back.They live here after all.What ever they did it must have been a big deal since they havent goten back yet.Most of the time they are here in 2 hours.But not this time.

y/n:There you are.

I mumbled to myself as i saw four small figures walking to the front door.

y/n:Mind telling me where you all have been?

Vi:Y/n.

She sounded suprised but i knew it was all a mask.

Mylo:Heyyyyy

y/n:Cut it Mylo.

Mylo:Yes ma'am.

y/n:I let you kids of for five minutes and you come back 7 hours later covered in bloo-.

I stoped for a second as i realised they were all bleeding a little exept for Powder.

y/n:What happened?

Vi:Nothing.

y/n:Dont give me that shit.

Claggor:We went to Piltover.

Vi:Do you have to tell her everything?

y/n:So the four children at the penthouse thats you.

I asked even tho it did not sound like a question.

I could see her face fall as i said the word /disappointed/.

I said as i opened the door to their room before closing it.I just stood there untill i heard someone walking to me.

Vander:It was them hm?

His voice was calm.

y/n:I left them alone for five minutes. I didnt think they would-

Vander:Its not your fould.They did it on their own and we cant turn the time back.

I sight as i looked up at him.I was not a child but my height was of a teenager.And if someone else saw us it would look like Vander was talking to a kid.

y/n:Dont be hard on them.

Vander:Im never hard on them.

He said as he walked into the room closing the door behind him.

I stood there for what felt like hours before Mylo Claggor and Powder walked out of the room.

y/n:They about to have the talk hm?

I asked softly.

Mylo:Yeah.

He said as i leaned against the door trying to listen.

y/n:So what really happened out there?

Claggor:We went to Piltover took some things, made an explosion,had a fight with some guys and got here.

Mylo:Dont forget the part where Powder lost all the things we got.

Powder:I told you i didnt mean t-

y/n:A fight? With our guys?

Mylo:Yeah a group of idiots.

I sight as i looked at Powder.

y/n:Im just happy your all okay.

Powder smiled at me as she hugged my leg.

y/n:How did Mouser do?

I asked smiling.

Powder:He didnt work.I think i need some other parts.

y/n:Why dont you go get some and ill help you build Mouser again?

She smiled as she quickly made her was up the stairs.

It was then that Mylo quickly moved away from the door as Vander walked out.

Vander:Get up Claggor.We are going out.

Claggor:Now?

Vander:Yes now.

He said as he took something from Mylos hand.

Mylo:Hey thats mine.

Vander:You wanna be treated like adults right? Then you should know better then come back empty handed.Im ganna have a little word with your informent.

He said as he and Claggor walked up the stairs.I sight and i walked into the room and took a seat next to Vi as Mylo did the same.

Mylo:She is a problem.

Vi:Mylo im really not-

Mylo:Do you remember what was in the bag?The biggest payout we have ever seen and she lost it.

Vi:She is young.

Mylo:You dont have to tell me twice.

y/n:Mylo thats enough.

I said as he looked me without saying a word.I was not Vander.I could not save them from anything.But they still listened to me like i was some kind of queen.Or maybe a mother.

y/n:Leave her alone. I can name a few times you messed up.

Mylo looked away from me as he still didnt say anything.

Vi:You know what Mylo. Your right.There is a lot of things Powder does wrong.Like complain about everything.And brag-

Mylo:Okay i see where your going with this.

Vi:Powder is my problem okay? Your problem is knowing when to shut up.But ill halp you with that.When ever you see this face it means its time for you to shut up.

Vi pointed at her face as Mylo just sight as looked away.I  chuckled as i got up and petted Vis shoulder.

y/n:You should go talk to Powder.

Vi looked at me with a small smile as she walked out of the room leaving me and Mylo alone.

I said smiling as i walked to him as Powder just finished fixing the game.

y/n:Good luck then.Youll need it.

I said teasingly as Mylo started to shoot .

Vi:You guys know i would not take you on a job you could not handle right?

Mylo:You kidding?That was the best job we have ever done.Maybe just dont take Powder next time.

I sight as i looked at Powder.

He said looking at me in a sarcastic tone.

Was it a good thing to talk about some knife i wanted for a long time? No.But it sure as hell is better to talk about then other things.

Powder:Hey guys.You should see th-

Before she could finish someone was thrown at the window.I looked at the man in horror as my eyes moved to where he came from. Enforcers.A lot of them.

:Search them.

I could hear one of them say as i took a step back Powder quickly stepping behind me.

y/n:Be calm everyone.

Mylo:Go ahead idiots. We have nothing.

Said Mylo as one of the enforcers walked to me and Powder and stopped right infront of me.

y/n:Sir i can assure you w-

Before i could finish the room went dark.So it ment we have to run.I took Powders hand as we all started to run.Was it a good idea?Hell no.But there is nothing to do about it.

We ran  out of the room and into an allyway.But to no suprise there were enforcers there as well.

Just then a leader came down next to us.

:Over here.

I heard a voice say as i looked up and saw Little man.

We all quickly got up and pushed the leader down fort he enforcers to not be able to get up.

We were in Last drop.I was scholding the kids in the corned before Savika started to speak.

Yelled on of the man.

Vander:You sure thats what you want?We have crossed that bridge onec before and we all know how it ended.

:Your just protecting your kids.

Vander:Im protecting our people.I would do the same for any one of you.We look out for each other.Its how it has always been.This will blow over.We just need to stand together.

Savika:The Vander i knew the one who built the underground would not be afraid to fight.

I said as i walked into the crowd.One of the man puted their hand on my shoulder to stop me from moving closer to her.

Vander:Do i looked scared?

He asked as he walked to her.

Savika:No.You look weak.

She said as she turned around and walked out with some of her guys behind her.

I said as i walked past the man holding me and walked out of the Last drop.

y/n:Its the best thing to do.If we fight again ….do you know how many people would die.

Said the man as Vander gived him a drink.

Vander got up as some of the guys in the bar did the same.I look at him as he nooded in agreement.

:You werent always the peacekeeper.

Vander:Yeah well you cant escape the past.Be a shame if i had to put them on again.

Just then the one of the man came back with nothing.Thank god he didnt find them.

He yelled as he walked out of the bar.

I groaned as i quickly got up and made my way to their room with Vander right behind me.

I asked as i walked into the room.

Vi:No we are not okay. They almost saw Powder.What if they took her?

I glared at Vi as for the first time my glare was not ganna make her stop talking.

Vander:I have heard this talk before.

He said as  he walked out of the room with Vi right behind him.As she walked past me our eyes meet.My eyes were full of dissapointment as hers were full of anger.I love her but its hard to see  her grow up so fast.

I didnt say a word as i walking to my bed and took a seat on it.Powder and i shared a bed.She said it felt safer if she felt i was next to her and i must say i felt the same.

I.F. 2024 Review

So I saw I.F. today...it's had a bit of a divided response so far, with most detractors saying it's a live action adaption of Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends. Having been an avid fan of Fosters when I was younger, I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

I LOVE this film. It is emotional, it had me crying in the first twenty minutes and throughout, because it just spoke to me. I think I.F. has a certain audience and even though it's marketed at family's I think it's for everyone. More specifically adults/older teens who has imaginary friends growing up, who are creative who through np fault of their own have had to grow up and adapt to a world that frankly is not made for them.

Fosters had a young child who could see imaginary friends as well and tried to help them find new placements. The difference is that Mac had Blue. Bea does not have a imaginary friend, she's grown out of them. She is to grown up for them. But she is 12, a 12 year old who has had a hard life and is forced to grow up to soon. Just like Mac was forced to give Bloo up to Fosters, Bea has pushed away her creativity for 'adulting' because she's had to, and the film is about her connecting with her innocence again.

SPOILERS:

Both works have a theme of reconnecting. In Fosters Ed reconnected with his all grown up kid, as did Wilt and Mrs Foster never gave up Mr Herriman.

In I.F. Blue reconnects with his kid, Blossom reconnects with hers. In Blossom's case her 'kids' dreams are expanded upon briefly and it's shown she regrets not being able to do what she loved. Like how with Fosters Ed helped his kid stand up for herself and Wilt helped his with basketball, Blossom represented her kids desire to dance. Did it work? No. Does that mean the kid had an unhappy life? No, I don't think so.

Lewis - who runs the home - seems to have been waiting for Bea to come along and help change. He wants Cal and Bea to reconnect. Obviously he knows Bea is Cal's kid and wants Cal to realise she still needs him. He's a lovely kind character - a literal giant teddy bear for crying out loud! - and although he wasn't really given a lot of limelight [hard when you've got so many characters] he seems to really want well for his residents. Like Mr Herriman from Fosters - although a lot less uptight and without his own 'kid.' From what I remember Mr Herriman might get annoyed with the residents sometimes, but he'd never truly change them or Fosters and Lewis seems to be similar. Cal clearly trusts him implicitly, just like how in a pinch the residents of Fosters will go to Herriman.

Character wise, the main difference is that there isn't a Frankie in I.F. Cal's sort of set up to be one, but he's not the cleaner or admin or general dogsbody like Frankie was. And of course he turns out to be an imaginary friend. [I know some people theorise Frankie is a I.F. herself, I disagree with that theory, in Fosters when they had an episode centred around if a human-looking I.F. was just a normal human or not the I.F. turned out to have an elephant nose. As Frankie was never shown to have anything strange about her I think she's not a I.F..]

Anyway, I strongly suggest seeing the film. It was heartwarming, tearjerking [A few laughs, but not humour-focused] and above all gorgeous with the C.G.I. The characters look amazing!

Obra - The Gith Druid

In Photo - My Tav "Obra" who is a Githyanki Druid (Sage) & Jaheira Some facts about Obra:

Performed all her Gith training (even killed a classmate because she was asked by her teacher to do so)

Did things out of "duty" to her race

Suffers from "Good Girl Syndrome" in a twisted way, she has the skills to make people think that she is doing what they want her to do

She is naturally good and would prefer not to kill anyone if given the chance

She is a quiet person, not shy, but she tends to keep to herself

Growing up, she would keep plants of all kinds around her bed and would read a lot

She is actually a good fighter but can be clumsy

She is not flirty and have little interest in sex

When she left her Creche, no one really expected her to make history and she liked it that way

She yearns for the slow life, away from all the bloodshed and having to kill each other as "training"

Too "humble" for a Gith, also has her head in the clouds a lot (lol) and sometimes dissociates

Her full druid magic came to her later in life but when she was young, there were already small signs like being able to "smell when plants are about to sprout from the ground"

Was abducted by the Absolute while she was practicing her new wild shape magic (haha)

Her relationship with each companion:

ASTARION - No sexual attraction whatsoever. She lets him drink her blood (started because he was curious with how Gith blood tastes like). Astarion likes that Obra does not talk too much. She looks at him all judgey when he proposes something unhinged but will still participate with his shenanigans, often without saying anything to him and just immediately moving to help him. Obra's eyes widen when Astarion trauma dumps every once in a while, not knowing how to react to the horrors he experienced. All the while having flashbacks of her own horrors.

GALE - Obra is a Sage so she loves learning and they would converse over books or certain information. Gale does most of the talking though. Sometimes, he talks too much for Obra's liking and she dissociates. A bit of unspoken affections here as Gale "may" have a crush on her. Obra knows that Gale is a bit physically weak so she always heal him when they fight even if he does not ask (does not help with Gale's "growing interest"). They cook together at camp sometimes, but Obra brings some weird ingredients she found from nature. Gale tries to incorporate them, resulting to some weird flavors.

SHADOWHEART - Obra and Shadowheart both understand what it's like to do things just because you are "programmed" to do it. They don't talk so much but they have a deep understanding of each other. Has each other's back and they usually agree on things by default. During a battle, these two would usually exchange a look and start healing their teammates. When drunk, they have uncharacteristically deep philosophical conversations.

LAE'ZEL - Lae'Zel thinks Obra is weak and often wonders how she made it to adulthood. Every once in a while, Obra does something badass in the battlefield which surprises Lae'Zel. Their general relationship is that of 2 kids who grew up on the same block - they are fundamentally different people, but share the secrets of the neighborhood. Lae'Zel is usually dominant during conversations and tend to impose her will. Obra just "listens" to her but does whatever she wants after the conversation.

KARLACH - Obra smiles the most with Karlach. She is also the most talkative with Karlach. They have conversations where their responses miss the context and they confuse each other. They bond over activating the "Speak with Animals" ability, with Karlach speaking with every animal she finds around the camp and Obra trailing along. In the battlefield, they turn into beasts - Obra is usually an owlbear and Karlach is the berserker that she is. A combo enemies don't see coming.

WYLL - They are both good natured by default and sees eye to eye on certain idealistic beliefs. Obra is more used to the bloodshed though. Without realizing it, Obra started treating Wyll like a little brother. She encourages him during battle, often giving him an opening to attack, but makes sure he does not get hurt too much. Wyll trusts Obra and would often tell her stories of his life. She just sits quietly, nodding along and smiling from time to time.

JAHEIRA - Obra admires the druid that Jaheira is. This admiration goes both ways as Jaheira likes that this young druid acts more than she talks. Jaheira is worried that Obra says "yes" too easily.

HALSIN - Obra is reliable and Halsin has fallen romantically for her. He confessed, she said yes and they started a relationship. However, Obra might have said yes because she was touched by how Halsin chose to stay by her side, instead of leaving after the shadow curse has lifted... She is not sure how to reciprocate Halsin's kind nature... MINSC & BOO - Minsc talks and Obra answers in 1 word responses like "Okay!" She does not think too much with Minsc and is sometimes scared of Boo. Obra caught Boo looking at her eyes aggressively once and is now quite wary of the hamster gouging her eyes.

TURN-99: Judai VS the Terror of the Laser Satellite

Judai learns of the secret behind his key--that it's a control key for a laser satellite--from Lind, secretary to Prince Ojin. Under Saiou's orders, Prince Ojin challenges Judai to a duel in order to take back his key. The Prince summons and attacks with three Satellite Cannons, while Judai opposes him with his Flame Wingman in the pinch that he's in...

TURN-100: The Ultimate Arcana, The World

In order to confirm his father's words about the Pulse of Light now possessing Saiou, Ed makes his way towards Saiou. Then, upon arriving to the Society of Light's very own dueling arena, Ed grills him about it. But with the Pulse of Light within Saiou changing who he is, he tries to coerce Ed into return his key to the laser satellite. But Ed gains his resolve and the two duel, Saiou unleashing his Arcana cards on him as if he's foreseen all there is to their fates.

TURN-101: The Finishing Blow, Ed! Bloo-D

Ed's duel with Saiou continues. Saiou's 21st Arcana Force, The World, has burst forth, and while Ed has taken considerable damage, he battles on with faith that the "real Saiou" is still inside the Saiou taken by the Pulse of Light. Though Ed gets cornered by Saiou's merciless attacks, just as he accepts his fate, something unusual happens and he shifts into a counterattack. As he does, the gentle-hearted Saiou seems to be overlapped with him...

*runs in carrying local coffee* Episodes 99-101 are now finalized! Just a bit later than I'd hoped (for reasons I'll mention below), but finalized, haha.

Inching closer to Season 2's finale, here we have Judai realizing just how important the key he got from the good Saiou is, dueling Ojin once Saiou sends him after Judai and breaking Saiou's spell on him (well, for now, if I remember 102 correctly...). Ojin's and Lind's backstory is nice enough if a bit rushed, makes sense to be a kid in the shoes of a prince being expected to be tough but not quite liking it in private, and Judai's bit of humility as he tells Lind he doesn't know if he can save the world from the brainwashing laser satellite but will get Ojin back to his nicer self was cute. After that, it's the cherry on top of Ed's character arc, coming to a head after his duel with DD, as he confronts Saiou about the Light of Destruction being inside him and not really being the friend who approached him at his father's funeral; 100 and 101 give us insight into their relationship and why they were able to connect with each other, even if Saiou initially didn't approach Ed to do so. 100 is also a prettily animated (despite the slight issues I'll note below) and well-paced episode, and 101 is made iconic because of Light!Saiou fully snapping at the end as he summons The Light Ruler, with Koyasu just hamming it up in his voice acting for him haha. (Also, Camula's Theme is featured in 101 for him, agonizingly reminding us it's been unreleased for so long.)

(Also, while I did hope to get these done a bit earlier this month [some social stuff had also come up], I'd luckily previously revised my scripts for 100 and 101 for GX_ST's release of their remastered versions back during the Fan-Favorite Duel airings in Japan, so I was able to make up a bit of time as a result, hehe. Also worth mentioning that Saiou's Material/Spiritual/Heavens Road cards, per Yugipedia, are valid as "Road" or "Lord" [as Konami went for the TCG/dub]; as "Road," they're a reference to "the three "roads" of the Tarot: "The Magician" through "The Chariot" (each numbered I through VII, all Level 4 or lower Monsters), "The Strength" through "Temperance" (each numbered VIII through XIV, all Level 5 or 6 Monsters), and "The Devil" through "The World" (each numbered XV through XXI, all Level 7 or higher Monsters). and as "Lord" they apparently reference the "phases of apocalypse" in a Lovecraft work, though Googling I couldn't quite corroborate that... Given Saiou's cards and his character, I went with "Road" working with the former.)

Animation error-wise, bit of an interesting mix here. 99 only saw three fixes, two card-related, and 101 saw about 8-9 with some card-related ones mixed in--but 100 has the lion's share of animation error fixes here, particularly because for some reason a decent amount of the footage sort of jumps in the video frame, causing a black bar to appear along the bottom for parts of the scenes involved; fixing the bulk of those, while relatively easy, probably took up the most time, lol. Notably, 4Kids fixed most of these for 100's dub, but the master used for the CR upload still has these (I thought it might've been an issue with how Astral_Union had encoded their DVDRip, as it does tend to happen in scenes involving video ghosting). More in my separate post here with my usual fix/edit breakdown for the interested, due to Tumblr’s dumb link limit in posts yeeting them out of the tags used and limiting their reach (and making me split it in two 🙃 [Part 2 with 101's is linked there]), to give you a more visual element to it, but altogether that comes out to 36 fixes across all three episodes! my love for this show is like an Ojama

Quick housekeeping: made an additional revision to 98 to update some of the lines during the Ed-talks-to-his-dad scene to incorporate some of my previous revisions to 100's script for the same scene, as I did prefer some of my wordings there, lol. I've also made another slight revision to 95's hardsub to update one of the Photography credits to match its spelling as of episode 87 that I missed. The link in their respective release posts now link to the re-uploaded version; I've updated their links in the Masterpost and will be posting the re-finalized hardsubs and 98's updated script on NAC soon.

Anywho, enjoy! With these out of the way, the stage is set for Season 2's three-part finale in 102-104, which I'll be starting work on soon; have been looking forward to revisiting these one last time, as these were the first episodes I tried to fansub back in 2007 iirc using Windows Movie Maker (how times fly/etc) and Judai vs Saiou is one of my faves. After those are done, I'll likely take a light breather before starting Season 3 and get a bit done on some side projects I've had in the works (and hopefully get to post about one special one in particular I've wanted to force into a tag here), but more once 102-104 are done, lol.

Chapter 5: The Episode That Shares A Face Part 1

Something’s watching you. Your internal warning system fires off, whispering of something unnatural. You shift, gazing back out the window, then freeze. In between the trees stands a man, young, early twenties, perhaps even a late teenager. He stares dead ahead at you through the glass, as if there were no barrier at all. Leaves fall on his clothes, sticking to his hair. He doesn’t blink. You stare back. His eyes are dull, almost dead in quality. That’s not human, whatever it is.

Word Count: ~9,900 Warnings: Mentions of death and night terrors.

A/N: I had to do a few heavy rewrites on this one, and I'm not entirely happy with it all but it's as good as it's gonna get at this point. Once again, I'm cutting up this 'episode' to make it more digestible, both for me as a writer and for you the reader! There are some self pretty fun scenes here with the boys that I had a lot of fun writing as well.

You and your animatronic friend are on break from cryptid hunting and happen to meet some children, then you have an interesting sighting yourself, with some disagreements about relaxation time, kids are rule breakers, and Moon makes a mistake. It looks like that break isn't going to last very long.

My #1 post of 2022

Thinking about an AU where Y/N is a cryptid hunter and finds what they believe is just an animatronic helper (abandon, creepy jester meant for kids, but hey, they're into weird stuff so this is awesome!) but little do they know is that a very supernatural and ambiguous, demonic creature is inhabiting the endoskeleton with two forms for the day and night, and well, the day creature is very taken with the cryptid hunter but the night demon is less than thrilled about following around a weak human. Cryptid hunter is unaware of the situation and believes the animatronic to be highly advanced, and not at all capable of scaring away ghouls and goblins with a look alone as he always stays behind their back, protective, and much more terrifying than anything they've ever hunted.

Character ask game: 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 12, 24, 25 for Mac from Foster's :)

Why do you like or dislike this character? He's such a fantastic character who is so much deeper (and more hilarious) than he first seems.

Favorite canon thing about this character? I love how he's such a sweet kid, despite his home life clearly... not being great.

What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them? "Could Have Been Me" by The Struts, mainly for headcanon-y reasons involving him finally standing up to his horrid excuse of a mother.

What's something you have in common with this character? I used to look an awful lot like him when I was a kid. We both also love Star Wars, are somewhere on the spectrum and can be rather prone to anger :D

What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise? I haaaaate the fanfiction/headcanon cliche that he eventually "grows up" and moves on from Bloo. That goes against... everything established in canon. And to a lesser extent... his last name is NOT Kazoo, people. Come on now.

What's a headcanon you have for this character? My absolute favorite is that when Mac comes of age, he FINALLY tells off his horrible family, leaves them for good, and moves into Foster's Home. And is officially adopted by Frankie and an OC of mine (who is effectively Frankie's wife, Mac's other mom, AND his partner in crime when it comes to all things Star Wars). And after having such a painful life, he's finally happy and at peace.

What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them? He's always reminded me of Pipsqueak the pony from MLP: FIM.

What was your first impression of this character? How about now? First impression "Aw this little kid's really cute and amusing" Now "MY SON"
