It is nice to hear that I'm not the only one that feels that way because I don't want to come off as ungrateful, but Netflix really hampers a lot of its anime licenses.

It's unfortunate because it had the potential to be so good.

Thankfully the live action series exists, and while there were changes made, I think it is a lovely adaptation that expands upon the cast of characters present in the manga. I especially enjoy Lady Boss's expanded character and the housewives association having larger parts in the drama.

It is a shame it hasn't been licensed yet.

So the Way of the Househusband anime announcement is far and away the most popular thing I have ever posted and it was fun reading people's reactions and getting excited and then forgetting and remembering again especially that final week leading up to its release.

But now that it is out for the world to see, and I'm not trying to be a negative nancy, Netflix really botched the adaptation... And considering the talent the had on hand it really is a shame...

Chiaki Kon, aka the person who made Sailor Moon Crystal more palatable with her turn around of the series with Season 3 and directed the two Eternal films among other things, is the series director for Way of the Househusband.

And JC Staff, of Utena fame, is the company that adapted it.

According to staff members, they were instructed to animate it the way they did (which I have a feeling is due in part for Netflix not wanting to spend a lot of money on it).

But unfortunately, it is basically a motion comic that, at least for the first two episodes does not deviate from the source material at all... So if you have read it, there isn't much difference watching it outside of voice acting (which isn't a bad thing because it does allow people who are not able to read the manga access to enjoy it), but it is a shame that Netflix seemingly botched JC Staff's attempt at adapting it and therefore did not give it the time or effort it deserves.

I went to the & Gallery's opening for their Anime art show yesterday. They encouraged cosplay so I broke out my new Tatsu cosplay from the way of the house husband. I liked the Netflix show and adored the J-Drama (if you haven't seen it go watch it now blitz fansubs has translated it)

I had a ton of fun going out as the immortal dragon. You can catch me in this costume again next month at Saboten in Phoenix
