It's Tisha b'Av, so I keep checking Google news to make sure my t-shirt still has the flag 🇮🇱 of a country on it.

YET ANOTHER UPDATE!
We are in the process of talking to some wealthier family members, and there’s a half decent chance that we’re going to be able to rent the guest house at their lake house just outside of town! It’s not guaranteed just yet but it IS on the table - which is huge.
It would put us in an area where Sasha can finally go back to vocational school, and where I could start a really incredible ironworking vocational program that I previously had to pass over because of the long commute. Sasha has a job interview in the area tomorrow morning, and the vocation program would provide a work placement for me after a period of time.
The family members in question think that Sasha hangs the moon, and have been very invested in my education and the prospect of me going into a trade. So there’s a good chance that they will be very receptive to us moving down there given the opportunities it’ll open up!
We haven’t discussed cost with them just yet, and it would most likely be a temporary option. If this goes well, keinehora, moving down there will still incur som costs. We are still actively crowdfunding to make this all happen - especially now while things are still very much up in the air and our options are still terrifyingly limited. I will keep updating as things continue and I appreciate everyone who has shared so far ♥️

My fiancé and I are working like crazy 7 days a week trying to scrounge up the funds to keep a roof over our heads, but we’re working against the clock and are still short on what we need to make this move happen. Organizations around town that are meant to handle crises like this have not been able to help us, and we have exhausted every resource possible up to this point.
We have enough saved up to move ourselves into an extended stay motel if push comes to shove. However, the only motel in our price range is several hundred dollars more each month than where we are staying now. We are already unable to pay for our current housing, so while any roof is better than no roof, it is a dangerously short term solution.
Our best option if we want to avoid ending up like this again in the next couple of months, is to move into affordable housing. This requires application fees, a deposit, and first months rent at the very least - and we currently do not have the funds to cover all of those costs, only part of them.
Our venmo & cashapp are listed in the graphic above. If you are unable to contribute, sharing this post or even just the graphic is still an incredibly huge help.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this - I hope you have a wonderful day ♥️♥️♥️♥️

any healthy ways to express anger? we’ve been abused for three years and counting, and we can’t really say that to the profs, bc it’s technically not thir fault, it’s the system...  any strategies that would really help to let it out? i’ve been seriously considering therapy, but the catch is, they don’t apparently work during the wekends or in the evening so i’d have to skip classes and nobody would allow that. ...yes, that’s about how shitty the system is. shooting practice is illegal here for anyone civilian (yeah, welcome to our cursed town), which is a shame cause it kinda requires you to stay calm swimming, i can easily turn it into overworking which is basically self harm and taking it out on your body, and anyway i look too androgynous for that? taking it out on characters isn’t art after all, it’s just. a boring and unhealthy coping skill. go write something about acceptance, community, empathy etc

So the good news is that wild polio is (hopefully!) almost eradicated. There were only apparent 22 cases in 2017. It’s tough to know because only about 1% of cases actually show symptoms, so you have to wait a few years before you can actually declare it eradicated, even once the number of apparent cases is 0.
Unfortunately... the bad news is that the vaccine we used to give, which contained a weakened form of the the virus, can be transmitted between people and when that happens it can uhhhhhhhhh mutate and turn into, well, polio. So there are actually now more cases of polio from the old vaccines than cases of wild polio. Unfortunately this is going to be an issue for a while.
The good news, again, though is that we know how to track down and deal with polio. We can use the same techniques on vaccine-derived polio as we used on regular polio. And the new vaccine can’t mutate into polio because it’s inactivated, not just weakened.
So, I can’t tell you how long it’ll take, but polio eradication is currently being intensely worked on and I think it’s very possible.
I have this really bad habit of sending two unrelated texts back to back but bridging them with an “also”
So it’ll be like “hey have you seen this funny tweet” quickly followed by “also the news said polio is back”
