It's not as bad as what I thought when I read the leaks, or maybe I just skipped through the entire five stages of grief straight to the acceptance, whatever

Ishida still got a chance to have a W in the next cour from what is hinted in the trailer, an even bigger W because it's against someone with a Bankai who literally could make the three worlds tremble (compared to his previous opponents in the past). So I'm least worried about him, because I know he would win

At this point, I kinda wished Ishida had joined Wandenreich a bit longer or genuinely bond/side with them (at least the Schutzstaffel), because imagine going through a lot of that hell to save the Schutzstaffel and Haschwalth and then in cour 4, nope, no strings attached imma go back quick to my good old friends bye

Haschwalth on the other, it took me reading the logical explanations on other platforms of how he can be defeated to not scream out of frustration because THAT WAS TOO FAST TO BE KILLED, WHAT THE FUCK

There are some Jugishi side by side scenes, so that kinda ease my pain remembering it again after watching them getting trashed to no end

But in the anime, he's done just that. He used "Antithesis" to swap Yhwach with his thrown medallion to get him out of the Cage of Life. He fought against the members of Squad Zero when the Schutzstaffel were initially downed. Now, he seems set to be the one to defeat Senjumaru to seal Squad Zero's defeat.

This will doubtless put him in a precarious position.Spoiler

Once the arc ends, Squad Zero will be able to say that Uryu played an active role in their defeat, in helping Yhwach kill the Soul King. Even with him still aiding in killing Yhwach, he still played an active role in things getting to that point. We know he still returns to his life in the Living World, but there are bound to be other repercussions.

P.S. Yhwach's incantation for the Auswahlen gives us the following: "Raise them! Silver emblems, ashen meadows, circular path buried in light. Eye of agate, tongue of gold, skull cup, coffin of Adnyeus. The object we raise is your heart. Auswählen."

I don't know how many spells and incantations in Bleach have names contained within them, but that a name appears in the anime incantation for Auswahlen...I have to wonder if the anime just dropped the name of the Soul King.

Thus, we finally see a second Zerobantai Bankai, Shutara's, and it was insane. I really wish I could work out what her Bankai name and abilitites mean, I cannot really find anything regarding it, and I have no time to guess. But it seems her loom envelops enemies within cloth and she weaves a prison of cloth for each of her foes. It is almost as if she becomes the loom and cloth. Interestingly, before she ties off the cloth we can see that each of the elite guard and Uryu and Haschwalth are embroded into the cloth. Even still, it seems as if each cloth prison signifies something regarding the person she killed, perhaps. Uryu is facing a Quincy medallion with light coming from or going to it, perhaps signifying his objective to kill Yhwach who robbed him of his mother and Quincy family. This is just a post release quick interpretation, but nevertheless, it is interesting to think about.

Then it ends on Ichibe releasing his Bankai to reassign a name to YH, Black Ant - thus seemingly defeating the Quincy God.

There is so much more I could write about, but the one thing that comes to mind is this contrasts well with the new scene from the previous episode where Ichibe steals the Almighty from the Yhwach and says he will remain blind until his death. It creates an interesting parallel for what is ultimately to come.... Spoiler

the man who robbed YH of his omnipotence and omniscience is also the one to give it back to him.

Everything I have discussed I feel fulfils the magnitude of who the Zerobantai should have been in the Manga, and it gives me a feeling of vindication that Kubo was able to ultimately deliver a thrilling battle for the strongest Shinigami."

The TYBW really brought back some concerning thoughts about how dark the Gotei 13 was. Having matured and gone back to Bleach with a deeper understanding of the terrors of life, I can’t help but to wonder just how much did the captains and the rest of the soldiers contribute to the First War and the Quincy Genocide. Who would’ve contributed to the first blood war and who would’ve had a hand in the genocide?

How much did the captains and the rest of the Gotei contribute to the First Blood War (1000 years ago) and the Quincy Genocide (200 years ago)? I think it's not so much a question of contribution; it was their war and their genocide--they were at the very center. 

We just met the OG Gotei captains in TYBW, which I think answers the First Blood War part. As for Quincy Genocide, we've always assumed that anyone who was part of the Gotei at the time had a hand in the Quincy Genocide. It doesn't seem like an institution that is keen on conscientious objection, particularly given the way the Ryoka Invasion plays out (Ukitake and Kyouraku showing up with slightly-stolen sacred items to stare at Yamamoto with)--something tells me that doesn't usually happen. And you may not have even had to be in the Gotei to have been a part of that--there's probably plenty of room for mercenary for hire types like Yumichika and Ikkaku, re: whatever it is they were up to several hundred years ago. 

I think it's safer to assume that if a shinigami was alive and employed 200 years ago, they were more likely a factor than not. (Even Nice Guys like Ukitake? Yes, absolutely. Nice guys do war crimes. Ukitake was clearly unwilling to genuinely engage Lillynette in Fake Karakura, but I think he believes enough in the Great Plate of Balance to have taken part. Plus, Kyouraku and Ukitake love Yamamoto, and this seems to be generally unchallenged sentiment throughout the Gotei. If there'd been statistically significant contention within the Gotei about the Quincy Genocide, I'm not sure that loyalty would have survived in the same way. I'm not saying everyone was gung-ho about it--the fact that civil war within the Gotei would be mutually assured destruction likely complicates these feelings, among other things--but it's on everyone's resume. 

Two semi-related things we're very curious about:

1. What about the souls in Rukongai who were alive for the Quincy Genocide? What does this moment in history look like from the perspective of people caught in the crossfire? Does it impact Rukongai at all? Is it at their front door, or does it manifest as negative presence (e.g. 'man didn't there used to be more shinigami patrolling out here before? wonder what they're up to!') What does Junrinan Grandma think about all this??? 

2. Did anyone get anything out of the deal? In the sense that slaughtering magical humans was probably not a universally popular game plan, and that the number of different perspectives on and attitudes toward these marching orders was likely worth contending with. Sure, authoritarian regimes be authoritarian-izing, but I think in terms of the long-game and making sure the Gotei gets another 1000 years out of itself, minor concessions can go a long way. Can noble status be granted through joint agreement between Central 46 and the Noble Consortium? Can grant money be promised? More funds for the free press?

If you meet a death quota, can you successfully petition for a rare general discharge from the Gotei so you can start a dry goods store? Does the commercial business permit still take 200 years to go through approvals, during which time you've made Vice Captain and also made a series of strong investments and now have enough of a nestegg to instead start an upscale boutique specializing in glasses and other eyewear???

1: Song of the year? The Rumbling (Attack on Titan OST). AoT started 2022 off CORRECT, lemme tell you.

2: Album of the year? The Bleach Thousand Year Blood War OST. That Quincy Imperial March gets me going! I can’t wait for the official release.

3: Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year? Kaho Nakamura, from the Belle (2021) OST. Every song she sang was EXCELLENT, her voice is LITERALLY a bell.

4: Movie of the year? The only movies I’ve watched this year are anime, and Belle was my favorite, even though it came out in 2021.

5: TV show of the year? TV: AMC’s Interview with the Vampire. Anime: Bleach.

6: Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you? Bleach TYBW S01E01, the hype was real--Bleach is BACK, baby! \(^0^)/ This has been the year of astounding adaptations. We waited TEN YEARS for this, and it was PERFECTION.

7: Favorite actor of the year? Jacob Anderson. My mind was blown, seeing Grey Worm from Game of Thrones turn into THIIIIIIIIS sexy AF vampire, WTF?

8: Game of the year? God of War: Ragnarok. Only been waiting FOUR EFFING YEARS for the sequel.

9: Best month for you this year? June & July, when I was on Summer Break.

10: Something that made you cry this year? So much anime, too much homework.

11: Something you want to do again next year? Go to an anime convention.

12: Talk about a new friend you made this year. I met a nice girl in my Greek class who’s super sweet. We study together and spend most of the time fussing about how much we hate Greek. XD

13: How was your birthday this year? I don’t even remember. My Halloween was lovely though.

14: Favorite book you read this year? The only books I read lately are for school, and none of them are what I’d call favorites.

15: What’s a bad habit you picked up this year? Getting fat off of junk food. I’ve never been this big in my life. I’m depressed.

19: What’re you excited about for next year? My fave professor’s coming off sabbatical next year, so I’m stoked! I was dead bored this year.

20: What’s something you learned this year? A lot. How much of it will be relevant to my research though....? HA.

21: What’s something new about your place of residence (room, home, or general location) now vs the start of the year? The extra layer of dust over everything, cuz I ain’t in the mood to clean.

22: Favorite place you visited this year? My mom’s is the only place I ever travel to.

23: If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be? Get more sleep, idiot, and put the Pepsi down.

24: Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions? Not really U_U I didn’t get around to doing any Dragon Age or Cyberpunk stuff this year. And I only did a little bit of the Untamed gameplay. The most headway I made was with Bleach, but I didn’t even finish the Substitute Arc--I really wanted to get to the Soul Society stuff.

25: Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one: I REcreated plenty of sims from a bunch of new fandom INSP gameplays, including: Bleach, The Old Guard, Critical Role, and Interview with the Vampire. I think my favorite has been Caduceus from Critical Role.

I had a lot of fun making him and his CC with all the mushrooms, and the lot I built for him, full of plants and stuff. So rarely do I indulge in High Fantasy, because it’s HARD to do fanciful gameplay--especially for MEN, since everything’s female-oriented in The Sims 3 communitty--unless I make the CC myself--which I hate doing. But I really wanted Caduceus in my game, so, alas.

Thanks for the ask, @m34gs! I am excited to talk about my fics for 2022! I hope you enjoy my answers, friend!!!

1.What's something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out? Would you do it again?

Recently I've been writing snippets, experimenting with ideas that don't quite have a full story, but want to try writing anyways. In my first series of Warming Up (in Snippets) Chapter Ten, The Blue Bottle I experimented and wrote in present tense.

I think it turned out well. I liked the tone and narration Shouichi provided. Somehow, writing in present tense makes me feel more involved in the action as the narrator. I'd absolutely try writing in present tense again!

7. What fic meant the most to you to write?

There are two answers here and I hope no one minds me cheating a little.

The first fic that meant the most for me was my Serial Killer AU SDR2 fic Working Relationship. This fic was a soft redo of an older fic Steal Your Tongue. Any time I revisit ideas I feel a sense of nostalgia in my heart. I remember writing Steal Your Tongue. I remember where I was when I wrote it. To revisit the idea feels like I'm paying homage to an idea. It's a little silly, but in a way it allowed me to see how far I've come as a fanfiction writer.

The second fic that meant the most to me was my first Twisted Wonderland fic, The Small Things that Don't Align. It is always scary to write and post for a new fandom. What are the fans like? What sort of fics do people write about the fandom? Will my ideas stand out? Those thoughts always plague me despite years of writing fanfiction. Of course, I enjoy writing the fic, but my enjoyment is only a percentage of the reason why I write fanfiction. Posting it is a huge part too and I always want that to go over well!

8. What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?

Without a doubt the fic that made me the happiest was my second Twisted Wonderland fic, Comfortable Bed(s). I was so excited to write that fic I wrote majority of it one Saturday afternoon/evening. All the while I was internally Panicking because here I was in my second Twisted Wonderland fic and I was writing Every Main Dorm Member. Still, the sheer joy of writing all the scenarios and ordering which dorm went next was such a delight. I'm very happy with the fic!

25. What's something you want to write in 2023?

In 2023 I want to write:

-More Twisted Wonderland. Yeah, I'm deep into the fandom now and I really enjoy writing for it. In particular I hope to write a Vil/Rook fic, but I always enjoy writing Yuu ft. The dorms.

-A Bleach fic. I've been a fan of Bleach since the first episode dropped all those years ago. I actually attempted to write a Bleach fic in 2015-2016, but I never posted what I wrote. However, now with TYBW arc animated, I might find the right Bleach fic idea.

-A multi-chaptered FE Fates fic. Honestly, the last time was in 2021 with Searching (and Falling) Through Dimensions. I have to do something else. Not sure what yet, but I'd like to try another long term project.

-Speaking of FE Fates, I want to write more Anankos/Trio fics. I want to do this because I'm deep in this silly ship and I need to drag more people down with me.

-Another post SDR2 multi chaptered fic. Listen. The last time I took a deep dive into the cast's psyches over multiple chapters was in 2016. I have different ideas and interpretations. I have a better grasp of the characters. I think 2023 might be the year I write this multi-chaptered fic.

-Lastly, maybe, just maybe if I get permission I can write at least one (1) idea from the vast list of Bar AU ideas. Because we call the AU "our AU" but I've done nothing except bounce ideas and add to that secret USB drive.
