BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War ep 11 (short) review
There isn't really much to say (write) -at least for me about this episode. After such a big hype train of amazing fights, I felt like we didn't get a proper breather between everything even though the animators tried adding Zero Squad scenes here and there, and an introduction about Ichigo's true origins.
But somehow...this episode didn't really reach me. I suppose the fast pacing is finally coming back to the animators as I feel like Bleach has so far gone from one climax to another. Little building at the beginning and then bam! Something epic happens. While the structure of this episode followed a similar route, it still felt a bit weaker or it might just be because it came so soon after the Kenpachi showdown. In a way, it's a good thing they're keeping this fast pace because things are progressing quickly and nicely, but building up things can fall flat in certain episodes if things aren't hyped...if it wasn't that, I would say (write) this episode was very solid. Even despite that, it was very solid. I just hope the flashback arc will be concluded in the next episode or even half of it and we'll move to another scene. This makes me already curious since as far as I'm aware, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will be 13 episodes long. It means they've to somehow wrap nicely things for next season or part 2.
I still think the animation is top-notch and this episode proved it as animating rain is (as far as I know) hard. The fact they made the rainfall at different speeds and showed even separate rain bubbles. I couldn't help but be amazed about that.
Ah, I believe a lot of Gin and Kaname fans were excited to see their favorites in this episode. Just loved scheming Aizen and despite the fact, their experiment 'failed' he just saw it as a new opportunity like a true "villain".
I think young Masaki was very adorable. I really liked her brightness which reminded me of Orihime. Though, the fact she was more stern when needed to be and the stunt she pulled? Yes, made her a bit more different than Orihime which I'm glad about. (Though, I like both of them.) In fact, I think Masaki's stunt toward White was very brave and she was otherwise very brave. I bet that's what caught Isshin's eye with her.
Alright, Quincies were back in the past very posh, lol. Really gave me that upper-class, European feeling at Ishida residence. Young Ryuuken was adorable and I liked the fact he tried to appear very stern and 'I only think about Quincies' future!' Erm, yeah. Doubt that highly.
As a side note, I can see how animators/director(s) are cutting the fan service and some random scenes down such as taka-taka with Toshiro as in the manga when Isshin lifted Toshiro, he was all 'look at the baby!' Made the scene much smoother, yet they managed to still add that Toshiro was younger and a bit immature, thanks to the fact he had secretly eaten that manju yet tried to downplay it. xD Goes to show how much he has "grown" when compared to the present. Kinda made me feel sad for Rangiku that even in the present...she is still Tenth's lieutenant. Oh well. At least she has a trusty captain, so she can now slack in the present time when she wants to, lol.
That last scene in this episode, at the very end, was very interesting as it shed some light on what comes to Uryuu and what he will do...

Mayuri Kurotsuchi Anime Appearance Guide
Bleach
Tumblr media
There’re a lot of Bleach episodes, so I’m almost 99% positive that I’ve missed a couple appearances. These are the mains ones I’ve found, though. From both main and side eras. This does include Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, but all the way at the end.
This list is relating to the Hulu, US layout. It also includes Bleach spoilers since every episode I list has a description to it. If I've missed any, please comment below and I’ll add it/fix it.
Appearance Guide ML
。・°°・°°・。 。・°°・°°・。 。・°°・°°・。
S2E24: First appearance. Seen with the other 13 captains at the captain meeting. Feels insulted by what Gin says, and then has a stare off with captain Zaraki.
S2E25: Seen with the other captains at the captain meeting when a alarm goes off because of an intruder (Ichigo). Is dismissed by head captain Yamamoto.
S2E29: Gets upset when Ikkaku says he doesn’t remember who attacked him. Goes to hit him for his “failure,” but is stopped by captain Zaraki.
S3E43: Mayuri vs Uryü. First glimpse at his abilities.
S3E61: Bath scene!!!! (05:15)

S11E173: He gets mad when his experimented hollows were released.
S11E179: With the other 12 captains at a meeting. Gets frustrated when it sounds like the new captain, Shūsuke Amagai, is complaining… Later, he takes over a section of the soul society for the battle.
S13E196: Appears to help Rengi and Uruguayan. Fights with the arrancer Szayelaporro Granz.
S13E198: Fight with Szayelaporro continues.
S13E199: Fight with Szayelaporro continues.
S13E200: Fight with Szayelaporro continues. Talks about how he views perfection.
S14E208 - Mayuri in jail and Kisuke Urahara releases him to join his squad.

S16E230-231: Is brought with the other captains, lieutenants, and some other soul reapers to an area where Muramasa is. Kinda just stands there in amazement during the battle.
S16E233-234: Experiments on himself to see if his zanpakuto is not apart of him anymore. Needs more data, so experiments on Unohana too.
S16E240: Does a experiment on lieutenant Marechiyo’s zanpakuto. Tries to figure out the situation with zanpakutos leaving their masters swords.
S17E245: Comes to fight his zanpakuto, Ashisogi Jizō. Stops captain Kanpachi from fighting his zanpakuto. Tries to “help” Ichigo with an “antidote.” Has a stare off with captain Unohana (lol).
S17E254: Only his face is shown, but he fixed the zanpakuto problem.
S18E256: Explains he figured out the brainwashing, but not how to put zanpakutos spirits back into swords permanently… Later, he’s happy to get something new to experiment on.
S18E267: Explaining how some zanpakuto’s go wild if their master die. He calls them “sword beasts.” Flashback of him doing research for Rukia’s zanpakuto and explaining how he researched about others. Lieutenant Nanau tries to bride him with sweets to do more research.
S18E263: Freaks out when he sees his lab destroyed by Lieutenant Renji’s zanpakuto’s.
S23E317: Gives insights about peoples whereabouts. Mad when he’s wrong about the world time shift problem. Gives report (after research) about precipice world problem at captain meeting. Was put in charge of problem and paired with division 11. Wasn’t happy about the outing. Found reason for problem, then the place starts to collapse.
S23E319: Shows up with the rest of the captains during the fight (Ichigo vs Kagerōza Inaba)
S23E320: The reigai version of him undermines the reigai version of Koonpachi. Then, the real him, is in Ichigo’s room with the rest of the captains to discuss the situation.
S23E321: Flashback of him being mad at a captain meeting for reigai Ichigo ruining what he was doing in the precipice world. Flashback about him explaining reigai’s powers.
S23E328: Joins the fight with the captains against Kagerōza Inaba. Stabs Kagerōza in the back when everyone thinks he’s the reigai version of him.
S23E329: Reveals he’s not his reigai double. Explains when and how he swapped spots with his reigai. Fights Kagerōza by himself at first, and then the other captains join in again.
S24E339: Watches the real and reigai Zaraki fight. Goes to fight the reigai version of Unohana. Even expresses how he would love to “dissect” (experiment) on her. When he goes to fight her though, she hits him. He ends up being badly hit, and a part of his body is cut in half.
1000 Year Blood War

S1E4: In research lab. Is mad at the other captains for not waiting until his analysis to attack/use their bankai’s. Short parts.
S1E5: When he gets told Ichigo is coming, he doesn’t seem impressed. Short part.
S1E8: Ichigo goes to him to hear the status of his zanpakuto that he was supposed trying to fix for him. Explains that only Ichigo can “fix” his zanpakuto. Tells Ichigo he had to come with him to meet squad zero. Is seen in the group of captains, behind Ichigo, when squad zero comes. Call squad zero “disrespectful” when he sees Ichigo’s zanpakuto that was originally in his lab. He says they “broke in.”
S1E12: Comments about why Captain Shiba didn’t take down the “mystery hollow.”
S2E15: He appears out of a hidden door, glowing. He explains that he figured out their last invasion was relied on shadows, so he got rid of the shadows in his lab. He feels he’s the only captain that can win without in banki.
S2E16: he gets a phone in from Kisuke that he can restore everyone’s banki. He’s mad that he found this discovery, and hung up on him, but Kisuke then appeared behind him. He discusses with Kisuke how the quincies may not be able to take arrancar resurrection. They figure out together that arrancars holo abilities are poisonous for quincies to have.
S2E18: while analyzing who’s still a love after the battles, he doesn’t understand why everyone getting worked up after their superiors died.
S2E19: Wondering how to turn the tables and defeat the quincies.
S2E21: He explains the barrier ichigo broke through and how he did it. An opening out of the soul society has been opened.

6: Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you? Bleach TYBW S01E01, the hype was real--Bleach is BACK, baby! \(^0^)/ This has been the year of astounding adaptations. We waited TEN YEARS for this, and it was PERFECTION.
7: Favorite actor of the year? Jacob Anderson. My mind was blown, seeing Grey Worm from Game of Thrones turn into THIIIIIIIIS sexy AF vampire, WTF?
Tumblr media

10: Something that made you cry this year? So much anime, too much homework.
11: Something you want to do again next year? Go to an anime convention.
12: Talk about a new friend you made this year. I met a nice girl in my Greek class who’s super sweet. We study together and spend most of the time fussing about how much we hate Greek. XD
13: How was your birthday this year? I don’t even remember. My Halloween was lovely though.
14: Favorite book you read this year? The only books I read lately are for school, and none of them are what I’d call favorites.
15: What’s a bad habit you picked up this year? Getting fat off of junk food. I’ve never been this big in my life. I’m depressed.
16: Post a picture from the beginning of the year:
Tumblr media
I really didn’t sim much this year--the only pic I posted in January was from my New Years miniset. U_U
17: Post a picture from the end of the year:
Tumblr media
My newest hyperfixation--I make myself tired.
18: A memorable meal this year? I ate raw fish at a sushi place for the first time. Never again. At least I wasn’t the one paying. DEEP FRY my food, please, thanks.
19: What’re you excited about for next year? My fave professor’s coming off sabbatical next year, so I’m stoked! I was dead bored this year.
20: What’s something you learned this year? A lot. How much of it will be relevant to my research though....? HA.
21: What’s something new about your place of residence (room, home, or general location) now vs the start of the year? The extra layer of dust over everything, cuz I ain’t in the mood to clean.
22: Favorite place you visited this year? My mom’s is the only place I ever travel to.
23: If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be? Get more sleep, idiot, and put the Pepsi down.
24: Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions? Not really U_U I didn’t get around to doing any Dragon Age or Cyberpunk stuff this year. And I only did a little bit of the Untamed gameplay. The most headway I made was with Bleach, but I didn’t even finish the Substitute Arc--I really wanted to get to the Soul Society stuff.
25: Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one: I REcreated plenty of sims from a bunch of new fandom INSP gameplays, including: Bleach, The Old Guard, Critical Role, and Interview with the Vampire. I think my favorite has been Caduceus from Critical Role.
Tumblr media
I had a lot of fun making him and his CC with all the mushrooms, and the lot I built for him, full of plants and stuff. So rarely do I indulge in High Fantasy, because it’s HARD to do fanciful gameplay--especially for MEN, since everything’s female-oriented in The Sims 3 communitty--unless I make the CC myself--which I hate doing. But I really wanted Caduceus in my game, so, alas.

Happy Simming, and Happy New Year!

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 11 Reactions and Thoughts
Overall reaction:
Tumblr media
We're finally here! Everything but the Rain. This week we have the return of the fathers, the sons (and sun), and some ghosts from the past. Unlike last week's epic battle, this one goes for of an atmospheric approach, with beautifully animated rain and action, darker colours, and a first meeting that almost belongs in a shoujo series. I don't have too much to say for this one, but I still thought I'd give me two cents about it.
Highlights:
OG Tenth division - aka, the return of the son: I was looking forward to this one, and it certainly delivered. I couldn't stop grinning throughout, starting with Rangiku's appearance all the way to Isshin's exit to the World of the Living. I would've liked to see Isshin's more goofy face when lifting Toshiro, but honestly, that proud, happy smile he gives him is pretty wholesome. Seeing Toshiro act like such a brat had me cackling (out future Tenth Division captain ladies and gentlemen), and Rangiku being the one that's holding all of this division together somehow, she's a champ. If nothing else, it's now thanks to this scene Tumblr has been flooded with gif of younger Toshiro, so there's that!
Gin and Tosen: I didn't expect to react the way I did seeing these two again. They're ghosts from BLEACH past, and I've come to like them for different reasons since the series ended. When they appeared, I clapped and couldn't stop smiling. It was good to see them again for sure!
Isshin and Masaki vs White: I loved how the setting for the fight was animated, with darker colours lit by streetlights and the rain being central. It gave the fight an atmospheric feel, both somber and grounded, it's hard to describe. Isshin's powers looked awesome, and Masaki got to show off too:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there's their meeting afterwards. I remember not thinking too much of it in the manga, but here, there's just something charming and sweet about it, like something out of a shoujo anime. My only critique, and it's an absolute nitpick, is that because there was so much detail in this scene, the blood on Isshin looked flat and was a little distracting.
The ending: now that's a good way to end the episode. Again, I love that they've included more content for Uryu, and seeing that moment he stands out in the rain and looks up to see Jugram, I got shivers. Again, they went for atmosphere here, and the lack of dialogue really sold the foreboding feeling this moment gave off.
We've also got more cut content, this time with Isshin comment on Rangiku's, uh, assets. It's interesting what fan service they're choosing to exclude, and it makes me wonder how they'll approach other fan service scenes (if they even include them in the first place). I admit, part of the reason I thought they went for a later time slot was to not only allow for more graphic violence, but also to keep more fan service (just look at what they did with Sui Feng's uniform in the first preview trailer, they ditched the white cloth she used to wear beneath on her chest), so this is surprising to me.
Overall, another solid episode to add to a so far amazing adaption. Final [joint] episode next week! We'll be getting the conclusion of the mini arc and, if the poster is any indication, Ichigo confronting Zangetsu and getting his two blades. I'm not ready for this part of the adaption to end!!

Everything I Managed to Watch in 2022
I might as well give you my thoughts on...exactly what it says on the tin. I'll try to keep things short and simple since I'm kinda tired and I wanna finish celebrating the year's end, lmao.
First up, the movies!
Top 5 Favorite Movies:
5. The Bad Guys
4. Sonic the Hedgehog 2
3. Rise of the TMNT
2. Pinocchio (Netflix Movie)
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Honorable Mentions (still love them!!):
Turning Red
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers
Wendell and Wild
On the television side of things, Smiling Friends, Dead End, The Cuphead Show, and Super Robot Giant Brothers, were pretty good! The Cuphead Show got better after its rather mediocre first season and I grew to love it. Smiling Friends I was happy turned out good as I expected, and I'm excited for season 2. Dead End was a nice surprise, I grew to like the characters and I appreciated how it handled its LGBT and Autism representation. Super Giant Robot Brothers deserves more love, Reel FX did a good job with that one, had some dynamic action and fun character moments.
For decent stuff, the only one was Hamster and Gretel. Will get back to it, but I hope gets a better execution than Milo Murphy's Law, which I liked too but the second season wasn't so great, oof.
On the other hand, shows that didn't wowed me were Oddballs and sadly Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. The former had some decent jokes and maybe a character that amused me like Max, but the other attempts at jokes fell flat and characters like Echo really annoyed me.
The Dragon Knight was like the biggest disappointment for me. As a huge fan of KFP, I was hoping it would turn out to be a good show, maybe a better outing than the last KFP TV show. But I stopped at I think episode 5 and lost interest all around. The animation was a bit unfinished, and the writing choices were kind of questionable. I am glad they brought back Jack Black as Po, but alas...
There's like other shows that aired this year along with new seasons of other shows I love, but I'll watch them for next year.
For the anime stuff, Demon Slayer Season 2 was great, same with Spy X Family and Attack on Titan. Really happy I managed to give it another shot. Chainsaw Man also aired and of course was incredible. I'm already caught up with the manga and I'm eager to see how they'll handle the rest of the story soon. Urusei Yatsura 2022 I also want to shout out. I need to get back into binging the original series, but so far, the reboot is neat!
And also, I made a list of Anime Openings I watched this year and fell in love with. Keep in mind, I haven't seen any of these anime yet based on this list, aside from the ones I just mentioned above and also My Hero Academia, but I lost interest for that series because of story problems lately, yeah...
I'll get the chance to watch the others soon, don’t worry!
So here's the Honorable Mentions first:
Honorable Mentions:
BNHA OP 10: Way better than OP 9 and the visuals were unique, but the song didn't worked for me
Spy X Family OP 2: Visuals and song are neat, but the first op is more stronger to me
Dr. Stone Ryusei: Visuals are decent, but the new version of the first OP song was just incredible
My Top 11 Favorite Anime OPs:
11. Kaguya Sama OP 3 10. Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War OP 1 9. Call of the Night 8. One Piece OP 24 7. Ya Boy Kongming 6. Urusei Yatsura 2022 5. Spy X Family OP 1 4. Mob Psycho III OP 3. Attack on Titan OP 7 2. Chainsaw Man 1. Ranking of Kings OP 2
Boom! That's it! Here's hoping 2023 turns out to be an even greater experience for me, and for the animation community as well!

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Separation episode 11 (short) review
What an exciting episode! We finally got to see Zero Squad on action, plus, that little bit of past at the beginning of the episode? It was a very nice addition the animation team added as it didn't happen in the manga. It actually explained very well the stand of current affairs of Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and World of the Living and the reason why Yhwach started the whole war. However, because of the knowledge I've thanks to manga and somewhat light novels, might play a part in this all as some things that happened at the beginning are foreshadowed events...
However, I must admit I was a bit surprised by how openly Ichibe admitted he more and less ruled things. While yes, he seemed to act like a spoke person of Soul King, that whole scene made me wonder if that is true. Especially when Yhwach stated how his father is at the moment. So, who is the true ruler? The one who guards or the one who is guarded? Not to mention, the fact Yhwach wants to bring peace...I've always found that concept interesting as most in fictional works it means eternal peace. Is that truly a good thing? Not to mention, 'the world was before one before Soul King separated it and installed fear'. Such things always give me massive religious vibes, not to mention wanting to bring 'eternal peace'...
Anyway, moving on~. Senjumaru was so, so, so cool! (Yes, I'm her fangirl.) I really loved how sassy she was against Yhwach and his posse. That brief battle against Nianzol Weizol was quite a wicked one. Not to mention it was nice to see how Senjumaru all but dominated that battle.
However, when Yhwach brought his Schutzstaffel (Elite/Imperial guards) and Lille Barro attacked Senjumaru, that scene made me feel really bad for Senjumaru. Even though it turned out to be an illusion, for a moment it felt very bad. And the whole scene of Pernida Parnkgjas turning Senjumaru's remains into a ball? That made something in my stomach twist and not in a good way. Dx But it was very wicked when Senjumaru revealed her trick which was a combination of effort with Ichibe. Though, considering the future...it felt a bit odd, as while Kirio's Cage of Life seemed quite OP...well, like we saw, it wasn't fully seal-proof. After all, Yhwach got away from there rather easily.
But even so, it was nice almost every Zero Squad member got to show their skills when came to battling. First the two ladies and then Oetsu. I'm sure in the next episode Ichibe will get to show his skills against Yhwach, but I also hope we'll get to see the rest of the Zero Squad going against Jugram and Uryuu. After all, Oetsu brought down quite quickly Yhwach's elite guards...or did he? But yes. I can imagine the last two episodes will be super action-packed!
Not to mention, we'll probably see how Ichigo and company arrive at the scene and maybe go against Yhwach. If not anything, I hope this season won't end up with a too big cliffhanger, or if it does, it'll at least be a thrilling one!
