I find it fascinating how solavellans were the only ones left without a romance epilogue but that only made them dwell in the fandom for longer? Looking around most of the active dragon age blogs are somehow solavellan centered, solasmancers were left without an answer for years and their waiting made them the strongest part of the entire fandom (and the one anticipating DA4 the most heh)

It's awesome, but the disonance makes me sad as I loved the other liar and there's hardly any Blackwall content around.

Q: Do you have any discarded scenes/storylines/projects?

Only everywhere. I wrote a whole scene for Heaven by Violence based on a Les Miserables song. Yeah, they sang. It was angstfest. But the thing wouldn’t get out of my head until I put it down, so. Maybe I’ll share it after I get past that point in the main (normal, non-musical) fic, ‘cause it has a plot element I plan to keep.

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

I read a lot of fanfic, and it all kinda blends together in my brain so I don’t think any one of them can rightly be called an influence over another, but. When I was first starting out I was a big fan of Jennifer Melzer (then under penname Erica North) who wrote an absolutely epic Skyrim fic, among others. I believe that it’s only available on the Wayback Machine, now, which is sad.

As for non-fanficcers, Jenna Moreci’s YT channel is always entertaining, even if I don’t end up following her advice exactly.

I’m currently playing a mage Lavellan (soon to be) Blackwallmance inquisition game, and recently reached the arrival at Skyhold part.

Should I take my inner chuckle at my Inquisitor walking up to Iron Bull, and thinking “hey Inquisitor is at the right height to be face to face at Bull’s pillowy man bosom”.....and then the instinctual thought of “mmmm Bull”, as a sign that I’ve abstained from my usual Bullmance games too long and my next one should ride the Bull?

My recent-ish crop of games have been Bull (finishing up the game I left WIP when Andromeda dropped), Cullen, Josephine, and Dorian romances. I’m doing Blackwall now, and was going to do Sera, Cassandra, and possibly another Josephine or Dorian to round up this set of four (the first four I found myself alternating between Qunari and Humans male and females, figured this set is elves and dwarves to keep it even. Sera’ll get a dwarfy lady, Cassandra will get one of the guys I haven’t decided which yet, and whichever didn’t romance her goes to J or D).

So....I was originally going to follow that pattern after this.....but I’m guessing my Bull loving self is like “nope, next up is yet another one of your lady mage Adaars loving up on Iron Bull! It’s been too long!!! We needs some Bull lovin!”

I've started (and am still in the early stages of) playing through both the Blackwall romance and Solas romance. The Solas one is objectively very nicely-written, but I think I'm having a harder time getting into it because of the whole "Dread Wolf" thing. I do not have a single complaint about it whatsoever, but knowing Crestwood will eventually happen just...makes me hurt for Lavellan. I've even debated going so far as kissing him and then having her leave things there.

I'm very protective of my characters. I know it's silly. I can't help it.

It will be worth it. I just wish there was a way her heart didn't have to be broken i the process.

Ironically, at least in these early stages, I feel more connected to Blackwall's. He feels a little like the rolled-out-of-a-log-cabin-in-the-mountains love interest who can fix anything around the house you can think of. I like that he feels a little older (and I'm so frustrated I can't get Frosty to work so I can give him those grey streaks he looks great with) and he's definitely very sure of himself (in a good way).

I have no intention of comparing the romances in this game because I love how different they all are. I love that there's someone for everybody if the player so chooses, yet I do very much enjoy thinking about the different feels to the romance.

I will say this: Blackwall's is highly underrated, and I'm not far into it. I can see it appealing to more players my age and older. I don't normally use tropes in a description, but it has the feel of a grounded second-chance romance.

I'd recommend giving it a try if you haven't yet!
