Posted @withregram • @evolvedteacher The thing is, treating people the way YOU WANT TO BE TREATED is similar to the concept of "Not seeing Color." It ignores other people's differences and desires. It is a way of assuming that everyone wants what you want and feels what you feel. This way of thinking ignores different love languages, cultures, experiences, and ways of seeing the world. Instead of teaching, "The Golden Rule," I teach my students, THE PLATINUM RULE IS more thoughtful and considerate than "The Golden Rule." The Platinum Rule is to "TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY THEY WANT TO BE TREATED" or to "Do unto others as they would want done unto them." The reality is that how I want to be treated and how you want to be treated could be completely different things...and it's actually beautiful. *** The concept of the Platinum Rule was originally coined by communications researcher, Milton Bennett, in 1979. Made these cute little rattle "drums" in my afterschool program today! I loved them! We used #recycled cardboard, string, and leftover beads. They decorated and viola, a fun filled activity. Very easy to do and the kiddos love them! #DidYouKnow almost every culture has some form of #rattle drum made from different materials (dating of course back to Africa)? Many credit the Chinese with having the 1st rattle drum but there are rattle drums still made traditionally in many #African countries. (Called African Music Rattle). He wrote books (several autobiographies.) He published several newspapers, the most popular being "The North Star." However, critics constantly doubted that his work was written by him. They felt that it was "too elegant to have been written by a Black man."
