“Militant” by Langston Hughes Hughes was quite the socialist revolutionary but we didn’t talk about that in school-we talked of his calmer, prettier poems about rivers and mothers and dreams and those are important poems! But I feel cheated that I wasn’t also introduced to his more violent and angry poems. Both are important. It seems it is ok to express longing and sadness and disappointment but not of action and anger. In reality I am a physically nonviolent person but I do want to cause violence to white supremacy and capitalism and heteronormativity and sexism and ableism. It is good to feel and express and act on anger, anger tempered with love is righteous anger and it is how we change towards something better. Hughes was also gay and of course, that was left out too. Let us celebrate black lgbtq people this pride. My sexuality and my anger and my creative love is a part of my recovery. #langstonhughes #anger #poetryheals #writingheals #righteousanger #artheals #bethechange #blacklivesmatter #poorlivesmatter #disabledlivesmatter #queerlivesmatter #allmustchange #changeordie #poetrymovesmountains #loveheals #liberationtheology #alifeworthliving #hopeisreal #recovery #pressforward #expressyouranger #transformation #comealive #recovery #expressyourself #poetry #harlemrenaissance #pride #lgbtq #blackqueerpride #sexuality https://www.instagram.com/p/CB_MrbQl3Qf/?igshid=b8xsvzclx5mz
