Three main "stories" with I/P at this point, to borrow the framing I've seen in most Western outlets:

The humanitarian situation of the people of Gaza

Gaza lacks food, water, electricity, medical care, and shelter. The last desalination plant in Gaza has closed, and the remaining water is not safe to drink. This has not started killing people in droves yet, but it will in the near future.

Gaza has a lot of international aid coming its way, except that this aid is piling up at the Rafah crossing (Gaza's border with Egypt). Egypt wants to open the crossing but Israel is not on board and has airstriked various areas nearby on the Gaza side.

People also can't get through - there is at least one family of US citizens at Rafah that (last I read) cannot go through the crossing. Egypt is hesitant to accept refugees but fine with repatriating foreign nationals, and it's a mystery to me why this hasn't happened yet.

The threat of escalation

Hezbollah and Israel are exchanging fire at the Lebanon border, Iran is making noise about getting involved (though not particularly seriously, yet). The US has moved ships and people into position as a show of force. Biden is visiting Israel tomorrow and while he's talked about a number of things, the real reason he's there (imo) is to discourage Iran or others from getting involved.

To editorialize for a second: I don't think there's a scenario where escalation will help the people of Gaza.

Israel's "war" with Hamas

Israel continues to bomb Gaza with devastating effects, Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel with minimal effects. Israel has repeatedly postponed their ground invasion but claims that Biden's visit will not delay it further. It will probably happen by the end of the week.

His frustration pours from his fingertips as he flips the pages of yet another tome, silently pleading with the books to bring him something, anything, regarding their current predicament.

"You're not going to intimidate the information from the pages, dear." Tav quips, reaching across and pulling the book from his hands, gently tossing it aside. "Call it a night, would you?" She takes the opportunity found in his exasperation to take the books place in his lap, the privacy of his tent allowing them closeness without any prying eyes.

Her legs wrap around his waist, his own opening up to allow her to settle to the floor with little space between them. With a deep sigh he accepts that his frustration isn't getting them any closer to solving the whole tadpole, cult, end of the world thing.

"You do make a compelling argument, despite how much I despise having a book taken out of my hands." His attempt to be stern is ruined by the warmth in his eyes and up turn of his lips. He leans into her touch as she takes his face in her hands, fingers grazing his jaw, thumb swiping over his bottom lip. Her only reply comes in a soft kiss, his chin held firmly as her lips press to his.

His own hands begin to wander, one pressed firmly between her shoulder blades, the other wrapped with his arm firmly around her hips. He's using what strength he has to pull her flush to him, letting her feel his heart thump through his chest and the gentle roll of her hips tells him she also felt him harden against her.

She lets out the softest moan as she moves against him, causing his breath and hips to stutter. Her hand reaches between them, undoing the laces of his trousers, but not yet reaching inside, but instead using her knuckles to caress him through the soft cotton.

"Gale..." Her voice is on the edge of breaking. "I, you - this -" She struggles to get her words out, opting to kiss him deeply, his lips parting immediately for her. "I want to tell you something." Her lips ghost over his, her eyes closed as if she's ashamed of the emotions threatening to spill from her.

His hips move of their own accord, bucking against her hand while he places soft kisses to her lips, cheek, forehead, while he gives her time to find her words, not wanting to rush her.

"May I?" He asks after her silence drags on too long for his liking. She nods, finally slipping her hand inside his trousers, taking his length into a firm but soft grip. His throat betrays him, a groan escaping as she begins to stroke him, her thumb rubbing over the tip with each stroke.

"I love you, too." He nearly whimpers as she pumps him harder, both reward and punishment for his thievery of her confession.

"You just have to know everything, don't you?" She feigns offense as he threads his fingers through her hair, pulling her into a crushing kiss. "I love you." Her voice is but a whisper as she breaks the kiss, her hand working over him quickly, the shudder escaping him letting her know he's close.

"I love you." She repeats, her grip tightening with each stroke, her forehead pressed to his so she can watch him come undone. She feels him still as he finishes in her hand, making a mess of both of their clothes.

"Oh dear." He laughs as he takes in the scene before him. "This isn't quite how I'd planned on making a mess of you this evening." He reaches to pull her shirt over her head. "Good thing it's still early, love." His lips find her throat, a contented hum the only promise of what's yet to come.

(also prefacing these by saying i am not known for being very good with words and making sense of my thoughts lol)

What circumstances led to your Dark Urge becoming their Class/Subclass?

so, ronen is an oath of vengeance paladin, and it's kinda like. you'd think it'd be impossible for any paladin durge to keep their oath pre tadpole right? and the oathbreaker knight does mention in game that they saw each other a lot before. so what i think is, ronen chose to be a paladin partially as kind of a cover, a way to be able to exist outside of the temple without people questioning him too much, and a way to give him easy access to non culty things when he needed it. and i said partially before because i also think maybe a small, mostly subconscious part of him was trying to resist even then. despite all that i do think he and mr oathbreaker knight saw each other Very Often.

4. What would your Dark Urge consider to be their greatest flaw? Is this accurate?

hmmm. the thing about ronen is, his guilt levels are astronomical. so i think, to him, his biggest flaw and failure is what he believes to be his inability to handle the urges better. he thinks himself to be weak willed, because if he wasn't he could've resisted more, fought back more, and maybe if he had alfira would still be alive. and then the fact that her death at his hands affected him so much to the point that it kinda paralyzed him, he thinks he should've been able to handle that better too. he hates how much and how deeply things affect him.

and as for if that is accurate, i'd say not really. i think he did fine considering everything lol. and this would be far from his biggest flaw

11. What motivates your Dark Urge to either embrace or resist the Urge?

ronen resisted the urge the whole time. or as much as he could anyway. and this might be kind of a basic answer but he just. wanted to be good? he woke up with no memories, and with just a few things on him, including the book with the oath of vengeance tenets. so if he's a paladin then he must be good, right ? good and righteous. but then all evidence kept pointing to the contrary and that was really messing him up. it felt wrong. he felt sick at how much he enjoyed being violent, how much he enjoyed killing and how much he loved the taste of blood in his mouth. whatever he was before, he didn't want to be it anymore. (that said, he still enjoys violence and killing and probably always will)

and then it's also that he wanted some sense of control. he hated not being in full control of himself and not being able to predict his own movements and his own thoughts. whether good or bad, he doesn't want to be a puppet to any urge or father or god. he wants to be free and to belong to himself only.

I've beaten two temple bosses so far and they're a dichotomy of boss design: queen gibdo: presence is foreshadowed, there's a preliminary version of her fight to introduce her mechanics, fight gimmick involves strategies we've already been taught (except for the light thing, but that's whatever), companion ability is essential colgera: comes out of fucking nowhere, sudden enforced aerial combat, no indication of fight gimmick mechanics beforehand, companion ability is like a literal fart in the wind

like I don't have a real PROBLEM with either of them, I beat them eventually, but if I hadn't already been using a guide* I would NOT have known how to beat colgera
