"So wait, you think that because Sabrina grew a backbone, you can talk to me like that, or pit myself against Ivy, Stella, Amber or Sabrina? What kind of fucking crack are you smoking?" Ella looked at the person who came up to her and began to belittle her for her relationship with Dean. "It's 2024 and if you're really pitting women against each other or belitting them because of who they date, then not only are you pathetic, but you've just proven to not only me, but to all of the world that you're streaming to, that you're not smater than the Neanderthas that came before us. Not please leave before I make sure that you're blacklisted from so many places your family will have to relocate to Sibera." She flipped some hair over her shoulder and waved a dismissive hand to them.
Once the person was gone, Ella turned her attention back to her friend that she was walking with. "I am so sorry about, what were you saying about that super Indie band that I need to listen to or something like that?" @ggstarterblog

Donald Ogden Stewart: Katharine Hepburn’s Secret Weapon by Kimberly Lindbergs
You may not recognize Donald Ogden Stewart’s name but if you are a classic film fan you’re probably familiar with his work. Stewart’s ability to write snappy dialogue and adapt popular plays for the screen made him one of the highest paid screenwriters in Hollywood during the 1930s and 1940s. And throughout his career, Stewart regularly worked with actress Katharine Hepburn. The pair made five films together including HOLIDAY (’38), THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (’40), KEEPER OF THE FLAME (‘43), WITHOUT LOVE (‘45) and SUMMERTIME (‘55). The last three titles are currently available to stream on FilmStruck and provide a fascinating look at the collaborative relationship between the successful screenwriter and accomplished actress who became lifelong friends during one of the most inspired and turbulent periods in Hollywood history.
Hooray for Hollywood!
Donald Ogden Stewart was born in Columbus, Ohio into a wealthy and well-connected family. After graduating from Yale University, he moved himself and his recently widowed mother to New York’s Greenwich Village. In this urban bohemia Stewart’s writing really began to flourish with encouragement from his friend and fellow Yale scholar, author F. Scott Fitzgerald. Stewart found regular employment with Vanity Fair and in 1920 he released his first book, a clever satire titled A Parody Outline of History. Stewart’s book was so well received that it earned him a place at the Algonquin Round Table where his natural wit and charm impressed other literary giants including Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley. He also became friendly with Ernest Hemingway who used Stewart as the model for the fictional character of Bill Gorton in his debut novel, The Sun Also Rises.
In 1924, Stewart married an attractive socialite named Beatrice Ames and the couple eventually settled in Hollywood where Stewart found regular employment with MGM. One of Stewart’s earliest screen writing successes was DINNER AT EIGHT (’33), based on a play by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber, which poked fun at high society. His insider’s perspective would become an asset at MGM where he was regularly asked to help script films that satirized high society.

Working with Katharine Hepburn
Stewart and Hepburn first met during the original stage production of HOLIDAY in 1928. A decade later, Stewart and Hepburn were reunited on the MGM set for George Cukor’s film version of HOLIDAY (’38) but this time Stewart was working as a screen writer and Hepburn was an up and coming actress. Although the film version didn’t find an appreciative audience at the time, it’s grown in stature since its release. Stewart has been credited for his sharp dialogue, which enriched the original text, and Hepburn’s interpretation of the jaded debutante Linda Seton is arguably one of her most enduring screen characters.
Despite the mixed critical reaction to HOLIDAY, Cukor and MGM brought Stewart and Hepburn together again to make THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (’40). The film was a smashing success that earned Stewart an Academy Award for his screenplay and cemented Hepburn’s reputation as one of Hollywood’s brightest stars.
Political Activism
During his time in Hollywood, Stewart became deeply involved in various political causes. Although it’s evident from his early screenplays that he had always had a social conscience, the rise of fascism in Europe was a catalyst for his left leaning radicalism. Stewart was a proud supporter of Roosevelt’s New Deal and embraced socialist causes after reading the work of British Labour politician John Strachey. Having endured the Great Depression, Stewart was keenly aware of the destruction that unchecked capitalism had wrought and as someone who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he was compelled to reexamine his own privilege.
Stewart’s political awakening spurred him to become chairman of the Hollywood Anti-Nazi League alongside longtime friend Dorothy Parker. He also became President of the League of American Writers, which was a branch of the CPUSA (Communist Party USA) that included Stewart’s friend, Ernest Hemingway, among its members. His political activities put a strain on his marriage and he divorced his first wife in 1938 but eventually married fellow writer and activist, Ella Winter.
Stewart’s activities brought him to the attention of the House Un-American Activities Committee, which accused him of aiding the Communist movement. Stewart fought back and was forced to defend himself as early as 1938 in newspaper articles where he argued that the HUAC was “in themselves a threat to democracy” and mocked the organizations support of “anti-labor, anti-Roosevelt causes.”

Radical Filmmaking
In 1943, Stewart got the opportunity to express his anti-fascist sentiments while working on the screenplay for KEEPER OF THE FLAME based on I.A.R. Wylie’s novel of the same name. The MGM production reunited Stewart with Hepburn as well as director Cukor. KEEPER OF THE FLAME is a provocative slow-burn thriller also starring Spencer Tracy who plays a reporter trying to piece together the mysterious death of a celebrated American hero named Robert Forrest. Hepburn plays Forrest’s wife in the film who reveals that her wealthy patriotic husband, with help from other powerful men, was secretly undermining American democracy by subverting the free press and stirring up division. Her character explains that, “They didn't call it fascism. They painted it red, white and blue and called it Americanism.”
When KEEPER OF THE FLAME was screened for the Office of War Information's Bureau of Motion Pictures, the Bureau Chief (Lowell Mellett) openly expressed his disapproval of the film’s anti-capitalist message and during its premiere producer Louis B. Mayer walked out of the theatre frustrated by the script’s suggestion that fascism was linked to American wealth and power. Republican members of Congress at the time were so outraged by the film that they demanded that the President of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (William H. Hays) establish new guidelines against political propaganda.
Tumblr media
End of a Career
Thanks to the fallout from KEEPER OF THE FLAME, Stewart’s reputation began to suffer but he continued working sporadically, and in 1945 he reunited with Hepburn and Tracy to make WITHOUT LOVE. Stewart did a bang-up job of adapting it for the screen but the direction is a bit scattershot. Despite some missteps, Hepburn is particularly wonderful and gives a well-rounded lowkey performance as a melancholy young widow who enters a loveless marriage with Tracy only to discover that she really has feelings for him.
Other films followed including the Oscar-nominated LIFE WITH FATHER (‘47) but Stewart’s career ended abruptly in 1950 when his name was included in Red Channels, a right-wing, anti-communist booklet that became the basis of the Hollywood blacklist. Stewart, like many progressives and radicals at the time, was singled out for his political pursuits as well as his scripts which lampooned the rich or worse, accused them of anti-democratic warmongering.
Stewart refused to renounce his politics or name names so he and his wife fled the country in 1951 and settled in London. Hepburn followed the couple there, helping her friends set up home in Hampstead where she was rumored to have selected the curtains and carpet for their new residence. Stewart did very little writing after he left Hollywood but in 1955 Hepburn encouraged director David Lean to employ her old friend during the making of SUMMERTIME. Accounts vary about the extent of his contribution, but Hepburn clearly welcomed Stewart’s involvement. He understood the romantic concerns of the idle rich like few others and his sympathetic depictions of smart, difficult and complicated women defined Hepburn’s career. As a result, the screenwriter and actress remained friends until Stewart’s death in 1980 at age 85.

New on Netflix: October 2021 Releases
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
And just like that it was Spooky Season. Having said that, Netflix’s list of new releases for October 2021 isn’t as horror-centric as one might think. But there is still plenty of streaming candy to be found.
Three existing Netflix original series of note get new seasons this month. It all starts with The Baby-Sitters Club season 2 on Oct. 11, leads into You season 3 on Oct. 15, and concludes with Locke & Key season 2 on Oct. 22. The latter two are pretty spooky in their own right. And who knows – maybe The Baby-Sitters Club will get a Boy Meets World-style slasher episode in its second season.
Movies are where the real fireworks are this month though. October sees the arrival of the Jake Gyllenhaal thriller The Guilty (Oct. 1), and horror flicks like There’s Someone Inside Your House (Oct. 6), Night Teeth (Oct. 20), and Hypnotic (Oct. 27). And if that weren’t enough the sequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, Army of Thieves, is already almost here with an Oct. 29 debut.
Of course, all of this new stuff may end up getting eclipsed by an oldie. Surely, you have heard by now that a certain show about nothing is set to make its big streaming return on Oct. 1. Amid all the traditional horror of October, be sure to make some room for the social horror of Seinfeld.

Year 2020
a craft essay by Nikka Ella Siason
The year 2020 may be the worst year for the world, but we did not know that it is just starting. We experienced so many natural disasters that ruined some of our tourists' destinations and some memorable landmarks but not just that. The victims lost family members due to the calamity. We did expect that these natural disasters are the worst, but a deadly virus came to the country that might kill all of us. This virus is called COVID-19, which can easily mutate through contact with a person that has it. We did think that COVID-19 is our worst enemy, but it is not. Our fellowmen that we did not expect became some of the civilian's enemy.
(Manila, January 13, 2021) – The Philippine government’s “drug war” killings intensified during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, as did unnecessary arrests during lockdowns, Human Rights Watch said today in its World Report 2021. Attacks by the police, military, and unidentified gunmen on leftist activists, community and Indigenous leaders, human rights defenders, and journalists also increased during the year. Activists and many innocent people got killed for shouting their rights as a citizen in this country. The attacks against activists occurred in the context of the government’s campaign against the communist New People’s Army insurgency. Government and military officials have accused Karapatan and the other groups in its network of being supporters of the insurgents in a “red-tagging” campaign that puts them at heightened risk of attack. The military, national security agencies and the police have actively used social media to convey threats that have resulted in tens of red-tagged people being killed in the past year. Red-tagging in the Philippines means malicious blacklisting of individuals or organizations that are not fully supportive of the actions of a sitting government administration. See, imagine getting killed because they do something that might change the system of the government for the better of our country. Instead of killing them, why doesn’t just the government make them as an example that the way of their governing is failing the country.
In conclusion, pride is really something that can get people killed. Instead of killing people that are against their way, we might need everybody's cooperation to make our country better. I hope that one day we can get through all

Rowan Shapiro managed to take down his father and stepmother’s business with a disguise involving a bad wig, face prosthetics, and a loud wardrobe with an annoying posh accent to top it off. Well, not entirely by himself but after years of estrangement and being snubbed by his so-called family, it was a sight to see them finally get what they deserve.
Once upon a time Rowan had a loving mother and a present father. Fast forward ten years later and he had none. His mother, the one person he looked up to, died alone in the hospital on Christmas Eve. Rowan couldn’t remember the last time he saw her alive but by then the cancer had advanced and she was on life support. His father, who was always away on business trips, had signed the papers to turn off her life support and felt that it was better if they got it over with than letting Rowan say goodbye. Christmas came again and Wilfred remarried and Rowan gained a stepmother, stepsister, and stepbrother.
Growing up in the Traynor household is not something that Rowan looks back on fondly. Arrogant stepmother, self-absorbed father, obnoxious step siblings, life was great. Wilfred and Caitlin and their lovely children Portia and Chad and… that one over there. From calling him by his middle name to nagging about his hobbies and making fun of everything he did, Rowan couldn’t wait to leave home. As he got older, the ice skating rink became his second home. He wasn’t the best, lack of proper lessons being a big part of it, but he always got lost in the music. That was the only place where he could feel like himself.
After graduating high school, Rowan went as far as a scholarship could take him. So he attended a college in Detroit and went into competitive figure skating just so he could get farther away. Of course no one ever showed up to support him, and why would they? Rowan enjoyed skating but the pressure of competitions and the hours of strenuous practice eventually put a strain on him. It was a miracle that he graduated in five and a half years and thought that he had a shot in competitive figure skating. Unfortunately after facing too many defeats, Rowan had to throw in the towel and had no choice but to return home where he was forced to work at Traynor’s Fashion.
That stint lasted for three months. Of course everyone knew about his failures so they would constantly remind him about what a loser he was. And it was back to the basement sorting the never ending mess of supplies. Five an a half years of being away and it was like nothing had changed. No matter how much Rowan tried to improve things, his hard work was worth nothing as his step siblings would take credit and make him look bad. Once again his father tied to get him to go into fashion design, which Rowan had grown to hate over the years. It never made sense to him why he was so insistent on having Rowan be part of the family business and yet discredit him when he applied himself.
Not surprisingly Portia and Chad wanted him out so they accused him of leaking designs to a rival company. Once he got the boot, Rowan was out, broke and homeless. At least he wasn’t homeless for long when fashion designer Victor Snow was in need of a roommate. As Rowan learned from Victor, working at Traynor’s Fashion was as bad as it looked. From underpaid and overworked employees, supporting terrible causes, poor management, the list went on. But the biggest thing Victor revealed was that Wilfred and Caitlin were responsible for shutting down three small companies by scandals and harassment. One friend, Michele, had worked at Traynor’s and created a fashion line that could have been big. And then Portia and Chad ruined her reputation by accusing her of plagiarism, ruining her career before it even started. Then there was another friend, Ella, who was the head of Fairytale Castle and could have taken off too if it wasn’t for Wilfred and Caitlin using their connections to pretend to be friends and then betray her by harassing her employees and sabotaging her designs. Tired of the constant bullying from Traynor and their supporters, Fairytale Castle was no more. Although he hated the place, Victor needed to pay rent so he was motivated purely by annoyance and hate with an ulterior motive: to take down Wilbur and Caitlin.
For Victor, it was pure luck that he came across Rowan. He and many others heard that Wilbur had a kid from his first marriage who was described as a disgrace to the family. Treating a family member like they’re a burden, calling them by the wrong name, misgendering them, and making a huge deal about their failures, Wilfred was sure to win award for father of the year. Rowan’s reappearance pretty much cemented Victor’s, Michele’s, and Ella’s thoughts that Wilfred, Caitlin, Portia, and Chad are some of the worst people to walk the face of the earth. Now with Rowan on their side, the three of them decided to finally put their ultimate plan to work and get revenge on the evil power couple and their henchmen.
So Rowan Shapiro, now Creighton Adcock walked into Traynor’s Fashion with his nose stuck up terribly high. The entrance interview was a breeze considering that Portia and Chad weren’t known for their brains, something that they clearly inherited from their mother. Apparently it also spread to their stepfather as Rowan totally bullshitted everything and yet his so-called family bought every single word. The horribly fake English accent must have won them over despite the fact that Rowan was specifically told not to talk like that because it would make him sound fake. The more exaggerated and foreign he sounded, the more his so-called family fell for it as they wanted to diversify the work place but didn’t want to make the effort to do so. It was torture but Rowan, like Victor and his friends, was fueled by spite and revenge.
Eight months later, revenge was served. “Creighton” managed to win over Wilfred and Caitlin with his fashionably mediocre designs, totally uninspired and colorful. A nobody turned into someone with a decent shot at a career in fashion. In the five years since he left, Rowan was surprised that Traynor’s Fashion dropped even lower in quality. Work was shit as usual but now that he was in the inner group, there were things that he really wished he could unsee and unheard. The catty environment being one of them, the things that come out of people’s mouths is another. It took a lot of willpower for Rowan not to beat the crap out of everyone in the room. Ice skating was the one thing that kept him sane after work, something that he really missed since coming home. Finally after gathering information and proof about the sketchy things Shapiro’s was responsible for, more things he wished he could unsee, Rowan, Victor, Michele, and Ella were ready to attack. July 9, the day of one of the biggest fashion shows of the year also marked the death of Traynor’s Fashion.
Unfortunately the victory, as sweet as it was, came with a price. Or prices to be exact. Not long after the showdown where “Creighton” revealed himself and publicly humiliated Wilfred and Caitlin, Rowan and the others were slapped with a massive lawsuit. But since it was undeniable that Wilfred and Caitlin did everything they were accused of and more, the lawsuit made them look even more guilty. With the legal messes they were tangled up in now that the truth was out, the lawsuit was postponed several times until it was finally thrown out. Most of the employees who played a role in the company’s harassment, frauds, and other illegal activities faced their own punishments from jail to getting blacklisted. And as expected, Rowan, Victor, Michele, and Ella had their own share of backlash from Traynor’s supporters, eventually to the point where they were escorted by bodyguards until the hype died down. For weeks Rowan received hate mail and death threats from strangers and his so-called family. But by then he was more than ready to put all of that behind him and start new.
One year later Rowan moved to Peace Coast Island to restart his career as a professional figure skater. Maybe he’ll get back into competing someday but for now he just wants to get comfortable on the ice. Last he heard about his so-called family was that they’re all in jail and he could care less about them. Victor, Michele, and Ella are back into the world of fashion design with their own company that’s doing well. They’re also the ones designing his costumes as well as his biggest supporters. It took five years of competitive figure skating for him to lose his passion for the sport and an eventful hiatus fueled by bitterness towards his so-called family to regain it.

SUGAR AND ARTIFICIALLY SWEETENED BEVERAGES ACCELERATE DEATH
Happy Sunday!
I decided to spend my Saturday night at home. My new thing remaining home. Read a little, watched TV a little. To bed and sleep at nine.
A certain topic caught my eyes during the reading portion. How soda and artificially sweetened beverages are bad stuff. I have been hearing for a couple of years to stop drinking soda. I go through about 6 bottles of Diet Pepsi a day.
I would like to say no more. However what do I substitute in its place? I already drink several bottles of water a day
Permit me to share what I read about soda being a killer.
I came across several articles. One right on carried an article titled Soda Consumption Reveals Mortality Rates. Title long way to say  sugar sweetened beverages will accelerate death in many instances.
When reference is made to “sweetened beverages,” it includes also “artificially flavored beverages.”
Circulation is a well respected scientific journal. Especially in the area of heart problems. It is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilks for the American Heart Association. A weekly publican.
Circulation ranks #1 among journals in the cardiac and cardiovascular systems category.
Circulation recently reported on a 25 year study. Participants 117,000. The study revealed a 21 percent increase in all cause mortality, as well as cardiovascular disease and cancer mortality.
GThe article an interesting introduction into the heart of the sugar sweetened issue. My problem a simple one. Not deep. I went years ago from Pepsi to Diet Pepsi. What do I drink now that is totally devoid of sugar or sugar sweetener?
It’s almost humorous. As one gets older, he has to give up smoking, drinking and involuntarily sex. Now diet soda!
Audrey Hepburn. One of the finest movie actresses of all time. As well as one of the most beautiful.
World War II was all over Europe. Initially, Holland advised it would remain neutral. Hitler failed to recognize Holland’s neutrality, conquered and occupied Holland during the war years.
Hepburn’s mother and father had separated early in the war. It was only Audrey and her mother Ella living in Holland.
Hepburn literally starved. There was little food available.  Doctors attribute her slender appearance to being malnourished during her adolescence.
As a youngster, Hepburn worked with the Resistance. She acted as a courier delivering papers and money from one group of Resistance fighters to another. The Resistance used children because the Nazis were unlikely to search them.
When Hepburn hit Hollywood and almost instantaneous stardom, her studio found her Resistance background attractive for publicity purposes. However, the matter had to be handled with delicacy.
Hepburn’s parents were Nazi sympathizers and supporters.
Early on, her parents were members of the British Union of Fascists.
Hepburn lived with her mother Ella throughout the war. Her father Joseph had deserted his family early in the war.
Ella returned to Germany early on to attend the Nuremberg Rallies. Following which she wrote an enthusiastic account for the fascist magazine The Blacklist.
Joseph was more deeply involved. He was investigated by the British House of Commons for receiving seed money to start a newspaper from Germans with ties to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.
Joseph was imprisoned as an enemy of the State for the duration of the war.
Neither parent was aware of Audrey’s Resistance involvement. Audrey was aware of her parent’s Nazi activities.
During the 1950’s, it would have been disastrous for Hepburn’s squeaky clean image if it were known her parent were Nazi sympathizers. Ergo, the movie studio worked hard to keep that facet of her life secret.
Hepburn’s first film was Roman Holiday in which she starred with Gregory Peck. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress. At some point, she left Hollywood and worked for causes world wide. Especially those involving starving peoples. Much of her work was through the United Nations.
While reading about Audrey Hepburn, Harry Truman came to mind. I recalled having read a statement he made about the work he wanted to do. I had marked it in one of my Truman books.
Truman was a plain speaker easily understood. He once said, “My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to tell the truth, there’s hardly a difference.”
The G7 seems to be going well. I like Biden’s statement: “The United States is back!”
The trip an obvious success for the nations participating. However the problem is in the details. Hopefully everything can be worked out in a kumbaya fashion as time moves on.
Terri White sings 3-5 this afternoon at Marylin’s. Drop in. Terri’s singing will make you feel good.
Enjoy your Sunday!

[Fuente]
Continuación de Feud: Olivia and Ryan
Escribe LaToya Morgan (Turn, Into the Badlands).

Death doesn't let you say goodbye. 2 hour finale episode in the works. Tell your cluster. http://pic.twitter.com/GHZgGuHwS0
Feud: Olivia and Ryan
[Fuente]

Upfronts 2017 (NBC): Nuevas series, renovaciones y cancelaciones
The Brave
Protagonizada por Mike Vogel (Under the Dome, Bates Motel), Anne Heche (Hung, Aftermath), Sofia Pernas (Jane the Virgin), Tate Ellington (Quantico, Shameless), Demetrius Grosse (Westworld, Banshee), Noah Mills (Sex and the City 2), Natacha Karam y Hadi Tabbal.
youtube
Law & Order: True Crime
Ocho episodios.
Good Girls (MIDSEASON 2018)
Protagonizan Mae Whitman (Parenthood, Arrested Development) y Retta (Parks and Recreation, Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce) junto a Matthew Lillard (The Bridge, Scream), Manny Montana (Graceland, Conviction), Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly), Izzie Stannard y Lidya Jewett (Hidden Figures).
Completan el cast Auli'i Cravalho (Moana), Shannon Purser (Stranger Things, Riverdale), Marley Shelton (Death Proof, Planet Terror), Rosie Perez (Search Party), Rarmian Newton (The Family), Amy Forsyth (The Path), Shirley Rumierk (Collateral Beauty), Damon Gillespie, Joe Tippett, Ted Sutherland, Taylor Richardson y Casey Johnson.
A favor: Glee.
En contra: Ted Mosby.
Champions (MIDSEASON 2018)
Totah; Back in the Game, Glee). Completan el reparto Mouzam Makkar (The Exorcist, The Vampire Diaries) y Nina Wadia (Still Open All Hours, EastEnders). Dirigida por Alan Spiller (The Mindy Project, Modern Family).
The Sackett Sisters (todavía en consideración)
Spaced Out
What About Barb?
Relatively Happy
Shelter
Untitled Kourtney Kang & Nahnatchka Khan
Redliners
