So, remember that short horror film I mentioned I was writing? ⁣ ⁣ It’s officially a feature film on its 11th draft. And we’re starting rehearsal this week. ⁣ ⁣ Oh! And I finally have a title: ⁣ “Their Very Presence Will Wreck It.” ⁣ ⁣ 👆🏿 it’s from a debate James Baldwin participated in at Cambridge University:⁣ ⁣ “Until this moment, there is scarcely any hope of the American dream. Because those people who are denied participation in it, by their very presence, will wreck it, and that will be a grave moment for the West.”⁣ ⁣ - James Baldwin⁣ ⁣ More news, soon come! #bytheirverypresence #TVPWWI #blackcinema #blackindiefilms #thenoticeblog #indiefilms #theirverypresencewillwreckit (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCY1rLlDrlw/?igshid=vdipj85071dk

I missed Ava DuVernay’s talk at BAM but I got a chance to hang with the Array team at Afropunk and show my support for black movie history. I’ve been a fan of Ava’s since one of her earlier works, I Will Follow, and this woman continues to amaze me film after film. I admire her tenacity for telling diverse stories and appreciate her commitment to advancing the voices and the visions of women and POC in film. I’m patiently awaiting her next project, Central Park Five, which she’s currently filming in NYC. This film, based on a true story, will blow your mind, and by the looks of the cast, will sure to be an Oscar contender... . . . #avaduvernay #array #arraynow #arrayrebel #arraypunk #afropunk #brooklyn #blackmoviehistory #blackfilm #iwillfollow #centralparkfive #blackfilmmakers #blackwomeninfilm #juliedash #daughtersofthedust #blackgirlmagic #blackcinema #diversityinfilm #blackindiefilm (at Afropunk Festival) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bm8HhJzHEDf/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1bo9e68ax5rz4
