Proud to share this new @takingownershippdx billboard series at the corner of NW 15TH and Everett designed by @luvjonezmusic and installed this week! Details below . #repost via @randalwyattmusic We put up a combo wallscape in the Pearl District yesterday to let more Portlanders know how they can play a role in supporting the Black community! . Do me a favor. If you find yourself on the corner of NW 15th & Everett, take a pic of our wallscapes and post it to your story or page and tag @takingownershippdx in it. We’re just trying to find new ways to get the word out about this work we are doing! . Shout out to @grapevine_outdoor for finding the space and installing it. And much love to @luvjonezmusic for designing it. . #blacklivesmatterpdx #blackhomesmatter #takingownershippdx #movement #progress #raisingawareness #donations #support #community #blackcommunity #portlandoregon #portland #oregon #northwest #organizing #ewmc #growth #blacklivesmatter #fundraising #homes #houses #repairs #revive #renovate #renew #homeorganization #organizing #donations #billboard #grapevineoutdoor (at Portland, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/CXOmU9cpV3A/?utm_medium=tumblr

Now instead of the government funded public housing, there is a growing homeless population, which is still the government's problem. The type of people who are moving into the D.C. and taking over will not stay long if they are constantly reminded of what their presence has done to the former. I attended Howard University and there use to be government housing just a block from campus. I've seen it be rebuilt and 'gentrified' and wonder where did all the residents go? There needs to be some kind of transitional program to help aid in the transition before the displacement comes leaving people to be homeless. Someone can't live a life on assistance then suddenly one day be forced to join a world or economy, that clearly did not what their participation in the first place. At the end of the day it is all a scheme and system. After the city is done being abused and people get tired of being so crowded and paying extremely high rent to live in an inconvenient show box, they will be gone back to the suburbs, 'White Flight,' and there will be no one to occupy all this condos and apartments. Then D.C. will become Baltimore City, forgotten and boarded up.

People have been living here for over 80 years. It is sad to know they’ll be forced out without hesitation
