new nugget! i took her from somebody who was scared to handle/look after her because she's very aggressive towards humans. this little one lived in a very small cage with no toys or enrichment and it has caused her to immediately bite and pursue people without fear, hang upside-down from cage bars, and run around seemingly aimlessly in search of stimulation. these behaviours are called stereotypies and are so ingrained that nothing seems to interrupt them. this little one has never been able to burrow, bathe in sand, or hide away from scary things in a dark, safe place. she is in survival mode because of the way she has been forced to live.

rest assured that she now lives in a 145 litre RUB that's 3ft long, she has 10 inches of substrate to burrow in, and plenty of toys and climbing opportunities. handling will be slow and entirely at her pace - i want her to know that humans are safe and provide good things.if she still rejects interaction after this, that's completely fine. she owes me nothing and i just want her to live happily. i don't need to be able to pet her for her to deserve happiness.

hamsters, like many small animals, are unfortunately prone to a serious psychological illness sometimes known as "cage rage" due to their all too often suboptimal living conditions in captivity. this disorder causes serious emotional and physical harm to hamsters as they are unable to cope with the stress of being unable to express natural behaviours, being in a confined space, and a lack of stimulation in their environment. imagine being in their position - you are in a cramped space with no natural stimuli, no toys or games, nowhere to hide, no ability to wash, and big scary creatures come and watch you at random times of the day. this is the reality for a lot of hamsters and we collectively need to do better in pushing for their care which is, undoubtedly, just as important as the care of any other family pet. they can't choose the food they get, the cage they live in, nor the scary things around them. they only have us and we control that entire world they live in. our smallest furry friends shouldn't need to live in survival mode for the entirety of their short little lives.

Theriotype List

So, to start out, for context, I think we've all seen a skeptic comment about how all therians are only "cool" animals. I personally have always enjoyed keeping up with those with "rarer" theriotypes and even using them as examples when these kinds of arguments are brought up, so I've decided to do a little bit of a personal project, that being creating a huge list of the wide variety within the therian community. Below is the list I've created so far, sorted by general species, then adding in subspecies/breeds, all in alphabetical order.

Please keep in mind and understand that for now, I am only putting Earthen animals on this list, mainly so I and the post can keep up, because there's a LOT here already and I know there are hundreds more out there. Maybe in the future I'll make another list with mythical/fictional/etc. kintypes, or someone else can do that for me, you have my full permission, just let me know, but for now, just Earthen animals.

Teacup, pencils, pen, gloves, wallet with a pic of kitty’s eye, sewing kit, lollipops, card with her mom on it. A perfume holder with 4 scents, “7:30”, “Loose change” “lick” and “Starshaped” what do you think they smell like ????? Idk. The clam’s pearls are lotion. A croquet ball. The colorful book is for school work. The red book is for fashion designs. The two pens next to it are what she uses to write they’re from wonderland. With a small clay ink container(not from wonderland.) Vodka shaped like an atomically correct heart. On the far left are cards her mother made for her with pieces of advice and the one on the top says “it is better to be gloved than bearded and better to be feareded than loved.” Which is cannon from “a wonderland world.”

Makeup: the two gold vials are lip stains in dark red and dark burgundy. We have a black mascara with a rabbit on it. And a dark brown lip liner with the Cheshire Cat ontop. A maroon blush with a clock with mushrooms and a bunny on it. Her brushes are chess pieces. And her comb is made out of bone and is a heart, her eyeshadow and foundation are basically like paint. With names like rubber duck, old tooth, fresh paint, scab, cirrus, storm, oz, royal tears, tea bag, tranquil, lavender dust, hamster holiday, berry, gem, feline, pig kiss, blushy widow. All makeup is custom made for Lizzie, she made the pallet herself though.

Her phone with a white rabbit sticker, strawberry, grey gloves, star, lips, lady bug, heart, a paper that says “home is not what you miss but the people there.” And a red bow with a gold chain.

This genuinely took 12 hours to draw and then I went to bed at 4 am and woke up at 4 pm…. PLEASE enjoy this has been my life for 24 hours.

she's sentimental - she names everything. her widow is christened "baby" and she adds some decorative stickers. she names her hamster cheese, and her fish theoretically have names even if she can't actually tell them apart. she at least thought of something while it was still in its little bag, before it got added to the tank.

her tiger tattoo does not carry meaning. she saw it on the wall of a seedy omega tattoo parlor, a bit drunk, and went "yeah that looks cool gimme that one". if it wasn't for translators, she would 100% be the kind of person to get random chinese characters tattooed on her that wind up meaning "cabbage" or something. she's not a woman of taste

she actually cares a lot about what other people think of her. she's not above being self conscious
