Black Mirror 6: Loch Henry
I think it was my favourite episode for season 6.
Because of the big twist at the end that elevates the episode in itself.
In this episode we can see that Michael Smart unveils Met Police ‘robot dog’. It’s confirmed that they were used from the authorities initially.
It’s possible that the story is based on the couple killer “Fred and Rose”.
The tragedy is turned into a commodity.
It’s now in the public domain, so they can constantly make new things with it.
The show is now in the hands of people who just are after money.
It’s a wish that doesn’t make him happy at all.
The Bafta is a mask that David must put to show a happy face.
It looks like that Pia is using the victims for their personal gain.
It wants to tell you that you shouldn’t make money with the pain that people went through it.
But the characters couldn’t help themselves to dig into the past and make the quest to make the truth crime documentary.
Curiosity killed the cat.
Also the title is a reference of the Loch Ness, the monster in the lake, but here the monster is something else entirely.
I’m wondering Iain Adair is a reference for whom?
It’s all for fame, profit and acclaim.
Some good quotes:
“- I was eight when he died, so most of my life, he’s just been a few photographs.”
“- That is a lot. And as you can imagine, it doesn’t look great on TripAdvisor.”
“- This is a whole archive. I’d call it a morbidly obsessive collection.”

Black Mirror S06 review
I'm sorry, but Black Mirror hasn't been good since season 4, probably.
1 Joan is Awful - People really are rating this episode as the worst of the season when it was just pure fun. Salma Hayek and Annie Murphy (Who I just recently fell in love with after watching Schitt's Creek). I liked it. At least it wasn't boring.
2 Loch Henry - This is not a very Black Mirror episode, but it was very entertaining, and it kept me interested even tho that plot twist was predictable (Some people say it is not a plot twist, and that's not the point but whatever). It was a good episode in general. Also, a San Junipero mention. ♥️
3. Beyond the Sea - Too long, too slow, and honestly kinda dumb unless you can explain to me why they didn't send the replicas up there instead of the real person.
4. Mazey day - Why? Just why?
5. Demon 79 - It was a nice episode, but if this is part of the Black Mirror universe. Does this mean none of it actually exists because the world ended?
Final ranking
1. Loch Henry
2. Joan is Awful
3. Demon 79
4. Beyond the sea.
5. Mazey Day

Black Mirror Season 6 Review
Black Mirror is a show that has such high concepts usually set in the world of technology or the supernatural in some regard. Season 6 was no different and featured 5 episodes of varying themes and length. Let's take a look at them one by one.
Joan is Awful- This one was a fun, easy concept about privacy and the new age of content. Joan finds her own life streaming one night, and her life begins to unravel. Starring Annie Murphy, Salma Hayek, Ben Barnes and Michael Cera this episode pokes fun at terms and conditions, whether or not we ever truly have privacy in today's age and the possibility of what AI may be able to create in the next few years. Score 8.5/10
Loch Henry - Set in the Scottish countryside, Davis and his girlfriend Pia are setting off to film a documentary. Their plans change when they learn of a shocking local secret. This is my favorite episode of the season by far. It shows the intricacies of making film as the entire process is on display. It also shows just how personal some things can be, and sometimes dredging up old secrets is not a good idea. The second half is filled with so much tension, and it truly elevated the big shocking twist. Score 9.5/10
Beyond The Sea- Set in an alternative 1969, two men are on a space mission into deep space. A new technology allows them to be on the space station and, through a robotic body replica, still spend time on earth with their loved ones. Aaron Paul is the stand-out here along with Kate Mara as they get the bulk of the screen time. The themes presented here are about loneliness, love, and grief. The second half is very heavy, but it never quite reaches the level one was hoping for. Score 7/10
Mazey Day- A group of Paparazzi chase celebrities for scandalous stories. Bo wants out but a massive payday lures her back in when a young starlet just disappears from a movie set without any explanation. This one was the simplest approach with the coolest looking twist. It was also the shortest and straight to the point episode of the season. It didn't pull any punches and continues the theme of the season which focuses on privacy and secrets. Score 8/10
Demon 79- Nia works in a department store and finds her life mundane. One day, when taking her break in the lunch room, she accidentally creates a blood pact with an ancient demon. The task is to kill three people or bring about the apocalypse in three days. This episode was good, even if it was a bit all over the place. It dealt with facing the question of sacrifice for the greater good. It dealt with themes of good vs. evil and choosing what kind of person you want to be in this life. It was thoroughly entertaining, and as the tension mounts, you truly begin to understand the weight of the struggle. Score 8/10

my official black mirror s6 reviews and ranking:
beyond the sea - this felt like one of those short stories you read in 20 minutes and think about for the rest of your life. 10/10
demon 79 - fun vintage horror vibe without feeling like it was taking itself too seriously. nida i love you i love you i love you
mazey day - 2000s paparazzi culture. but watch out
loch henry - shooting on location was the best choice they made here. i feel like it fell a little flat as a critique of true crime culture and how netflix contributes to it just bc of who’s producing it but overall i liked it
joan is awful - cool idea i guess but as a criticism of the content-machine it felt disingenuous coming from netflix itself
#📼#not sure if i should tag this as spoilers or not bc i kept things pretty vague but i’ll tag it just in case#black mirror spoilers

A (Not So) Weekly Wrap-Up - Black Mirror Special
FULL SPOILER WARNING FOR SEASON 6 OF BLACK MIRROR
Overall Thoughts
I think I’m done with Black Mirror, and I think Charlie Brooker is to because most of these episodes completely disregard the shows formula and message to the point where it’s unrecognisable outside of the title screen. Every episode runs at least ten to twenty minutes too long and somehow leaves concepts unexplored. At the end of every episode I was left unsatified at the lack of exploration into the consequences of prior events: How does Davis feel about the fact that he was raised by two serial killers? etc. I’ll review every episode, but you’ll be able to tell that I on;y really enjoyed two of them...anyway
Joan Is Awful
An average woman is stunned to discover a global streaming platform has launched a prestige TV drama adaptation of her life - in which she is portrayed by Hollywood A-lister Salma Hayek.
By now, I’m sure you’ve heard all kinds of jokey titles like Joan is Awful IS AWFUL, and I’m not here to repeat them. The concept is a little conceited but is pulled back around by the reveal at the end that we are watching one of many realities. Like I mentioned in my overall thoughts, the episodes fails when it comes to expanding on the consequences and how it impacts the characters. for example: imagine being layer 1 Joan and finding out you’re entire existence is fake and you’re actaully the digital likeness of Annie Murphy, that would fuck you up right? But we don’t see how that makes layer 1 Joan feel and I wish we did.
Loch Henry
A young couple travel to a sleepy Scottish town to start work on a genteel nature documentary - but find themselves drawn to a juicy local story involving shocking events of the past.
I can easily see how this and Beyond the Sea would be people’s favourite episodes of the season and, while this one’s up there, it isn’t quite my favourite (we’ll get there). While this episode has one of those gut-wrenching twists akin to The National Anthem and Shut Up and Dance, enough happens after the reveal to distract me and it left me unfullfilled. I also feel like it meanders too much before starting the story proper and then doesn’t set a solid tone. It tries to be scary, then shicking, then emotional but it doesn’t sit with these long enough to quite grasp any of them.
Beyond the Sea
In an alternative 1969, two men on a perilous high-tech mission wrestle with the consequences of an unimaginable tragedy.
FINALLY WE’RE EXPOUNDING ON THE CONSEQUENCES....sort of. I have the fewest notes on this episode, because it’s the most ‘Black Mirror-y’ of the season. I want to immedietely sing Aaron Paul’s praises, I had no doubt that he was going to deliver on an insane level. Calling back to my overall thoughts, the episode is just too long and I was bored just after the halfway mark; maybe that’s a me problem, maybe that’s the episodes problem.
Mazey Day
A troubled starlet is dogged by invasive paparazzi while dealing with the consequences of a hit-and-run incident.
This was the point in the seasonn where I just about gave up... now I know you’ve seen endless amounts of criticism for this episode and it is entirely warranted. Plainly put, this is not a Black Mirror Episode, this is a rejected Twilight Zone concept and I half expected Rod Serling to start talking as it zoomed out of the diner at the end. I also would have loved to have actually watched the transformation, but it was accompanied by TWO WHOLE MINUTES of flashing lights and I would prefer to not risk hospitalisation when watching a TV show thanks :)
Demon 79
Northern England, 1979. A meek sales assistant is told she must commit terrible acts to prevent disaster.
We have reached my personal favourite episode. Is this a Black Mirror episode? No, it’s an extended Inside No. 9 episode. Did I have a lot of fun watching it? Yes. This episode has some fun humour sprinkled through and the dynamic between Nida and Gaap is great.

my reviews of the new black mirror season because i have some thoughts
Joan Is Awful: OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!! this episode was excellent it was stunning it was wonderful i love when women (10/10)
Loch Henry: it scared the shit out of me like i was covering my eyes in fear i loved it it was so good the ending made me sad though (9/10)
Beyond The Sea: Honestly i didn’t pay much attention to this one, it was pretty boring in my opinion and it was too long and it just wasn’t my favorite. but everytime cliff was on screen i said “mista white” in the jesse voice so it all worked out in the end (7/10)
Mazey Day: kinda weird tbh. It felt like there wasn’t enough explanation for how she became a werewolf but oh boy that ending and the shot of the girl putting the gun in mazeys hand only to take a picture of her as she bled out omg i cried (8/10)
Demon 79: MY FAVORITE EPISODE EVER OF BLACK MIRROR!!!! it’s so good and so well done and gaap is so me and i love when women kill people and the ending made me sob my eyes out (100000000/10)
