Is India leaning towards the one-party state ambition of BJP!
New Post has been published on http://digiboat.in/india-leaning-towards-one-party-state-ambition-bjp/?utm_source=TR&utm_medium=Tumblr+%230&utm_campaign=SNAP%2Bfrom%2BDigiBoat
Is India leaning towards the one-party state ambition of BJP!
A history which, we as Indians should always remember: The sacrifice and Contribution of our forefathers, we as Indians should always remember!
A Little into history of our Country
Indian politics is evidence of changing its game ever since Independence and mainly the reasons for corruption, weak governance has played a major role in turning down major political parties ending to dust.
Before Independence, India was a colony under British rule and parties such as All-India Congress party and All India Muslim League were some of the parties which strived hard for the Independence. Then, came a time when India was torn apart in two, the most heartbreaking moment for the Indians leading to the death and misery of more than a million people in both India and Pakistan.
The religion differences which demanded a separate nation of Muslims and the high desire of Jinnah led the Congress to take a tough decision in making a new state or nation- Pakistan! Even though many Muslims stayed back and decided not to go with the state of Pakistan. But many who wished was a tough decision for them to relocate. It wasn’t just the people from India but also in the newly formed state had many Hindus living there for decades and believed to be tortured and forced to convert or leave the country.
For any person or a family to leave their home and relocate to a place from where they had to start at Zero could be rather giving up lives. The same happened with many- either they were killed by the corrupt minded or gave up their lives in a fear of threat.
In between all this was the biggest task- To annex all the princely states into the Republic Of India and without which would be impossible to establish the dream for which the Freedom fighters struggled for. It was the dream of many leaders including our father Mahatma Gandhi Ji to see India standing united as one nation.
As, the Nation struggled to get annexed into a single country under the Leadership of the then Home Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, parallel to it, the Constitution was undergoing into a framework by the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly of India under the presidency of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Under all these circumstances was the concern of elections for Congress and in such when most of the Indian population being illiterate, the first experiment to list out the eligible voters and a requirement to enroll the list of more than 175 million names had to be compiled ahead with difficulties, initially the Congress came to power and the first Prime Minister- Jawaharlal Nehru elected to office by the elected members.
A stone-breaking job initially for the government to set the electoral rules and the Constitution for a country with people of high magnitude! But, then the Congress had a goal, commanded a high respect in the people which strived hard donating the Youth- life for the country’s struggle.
The sentiments were high and the reward which people gave them was the power of the biggest democracy in the world. More than 70 Years Congress commanded the same respect until recent events leading to a change in tone of people- Yes, the people of India are onto their changing minds and possibly the results talk something more.
Lok Sabha election results since 1952- present (an understandable comparison of numbers in decline at Loksabha polls of 131 Years old party: Congress)
1952 Loksabha elections-
A fascinating landslide victory for the Congress party which came to power in 1952, by achieving 364 seats out of 489 giving it an entry into forming the government. Other parties like Jana Sangh managed to get a little as 3 seats and Communist -16 seats

The results are volatile depending on the cause elections are campaigned in the people. Despite, of all such volatile results, if considered elections held before 2014- Congress never came below three digits expected to be always in power, either close to it for the trust and the party with a high exposure to more number of seats since the country’s Independence.
Until what happened recently- which not just left the party in a threat and unpredicted results but the world at a very first time looked India as a hope for the future and the people of India showed it to come real exposing their unity, giving a non- Congress party for the first time a pure majority forming an unbiased government and moreover giving a blow to the Congress party reducing it to two digits!
The UPA-2 government which faced many charges of corruption, start from a tiny document to the various scams and inefficiency of the government to bring down such a system to justice where also the dignity and security of this Country was felt to be compromised under the unstoppable corruptions by the politicians showed an unforgettable example to all the parties contesting elections and overthrowing the long-supported culture by people giving it a flavor for presence of upcoming literate new voters!
Now, why is that the BJP’s dream for a Congress-MUKT Bharat seen true?
Congress has been in power since 70 years, BJP believes in the Congress party to be a party of ambitionless, lack in leadership and the most corrupt party working on a policy of British rule- ‘a divide and rule policy’, never to forget the same party worked hard to attain Independence.
It also cannot be ignored, the corruption charges which are imposed on the Congress. Its been 70 years and thus we still live on the policies and platforms which the British left. So, what has the Congress done except a few reforms which were a must and at some point was of profit for the party Leaders!
Time’s change and so do the people- and so are the people of India, the old stock of generation is closing its chapter and opening a way for the new generation to takeover its Country- is it the reason, youth not following the same path as their ancestors?
Or, the people aren’t satisfied with the work or policies held by Congress?
In a situation of such- Need to have a change, either in its Leadership or the policies!
What about the state elections, is Congress doing well?
A few election results in the states like Goa, Mizoram and Punjab proved to be good where they managed to top but except Punjab- they weren’t able to form the government due to some differences or Lack in leadership of seriousness in the National Congress party.
Situation of Congress party in States before 2014 Loksabha elections-
The Blue States indicate Congress Government and the Saffron for BJP
The Congress ruled states were apparently equal to the BJP ruled states giving a competitive score on the board for every election in states. But, the people dreamt for a Leader whose unquestionable ability can bring India back ‘the Golden Days’.
Mr. Manmohan Singh (Former-PM of INDIA)
The agitation by various sects against the Corruption and a Prime Minister (Former-PM Mr. Manmohan Singh) once known for his economic reforms looked to be a puppet unacceptable by any Indian called out for a Leader and the timing which BJP took advantage by making the most powerful person and Chief Minister of Gujarat as its Prime Ministerial Candidate i.e. Mr. Narendra Modi!
Mr. Narendra Modi (Prime Minister of INDIA)
The elections were pretty interesting in which the BJP swept keeping Congress limited to two digits. This didn’t end here, for every elections of state assembly- the Brand Ambassador for BJP wasn’t a state leader but is Prime Minister Narendra Modi under which the BJP swept most of the states. Also, a close aide Mr. Amit Shah known for his skills in politics- a key person at the backend to make the party win or open an unpredicted account of seats in states where it never contested!
States governed by Congress after 2014 elections
The States ruled by Congress and BJP as for now can be seen with Saffron and Green color indications giving a clear message of majority states are under BJP and the number is still to be expected more for the upcoming state elections in states like Karnataka and Gujarat.
The state’s count is required in order to get a majority in upper house i.e. Rajya Sabha, for both the Congress and BJP.
It’s important for Congress making them powerful to keep in check and control the decisions made by the Government in power, whereas the BJP which is currently in power requires a majority to uphold its interests in a smooth functioning of Rajya Sabha where it’s been frequently troubled by the opposition parties.
A major Comparison of India in 1967 v/s the India in 2017
The BJP is on a high par today, achieving state after state- a major blow struck Congress when the MAHAGATHBANDHAN in Bihar- the coalition of RJD, Congress and JD(U) broke and JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar formed the government with BJP- adding another state in favor of NDA!
The Congress party not just losing its ground at the centre but also state after state snatched away from it, is a fear which most people think of ‘Congress- muktha Bharat’ may come true in no matter of time but still the Congress blames it to be the fault of electoral machines and hits out at other things ignoring the key issues rather accepting to think-over the leadership questioned by people!
Top 3 Positions of the Country held by BJP after recent Vice-presidential elections-
BJP, on the other hand, even though it’s a foot away from getting majority in Rajya Sabha, has been able to take away all the 3 Top positions from the Congress i.e.
President – Mr. Ramnath Kovind
Vice-President- Mr. Venkaiah Naidu
Prime Minister- Mr. Narendra Modi
