FPI 3: Miesha Tate vs Bia Mesquita

For those that do not follow BJJ, Beatriz Mesquita (1-0) is one of the most decorated BJJ competitors in the history of the sport. Man or woman. She is a 10 IBJJF world champion in Gi. She's won ADCC before. She has won a number of Pan-Am, No-Gi, and Brazilian national titles. She's one of the greatest ever.

That's why it's exciting that she's dedicating herself to MMA. At 33 years old, not sure how much juice she's got left to make a run. But she competes at women's 135lbs. A division who's current champion got guillotined by a kickboxer with 0 grappling skills. So who knows how far Bia can go?

Beatriz Mesquita will make her LFA debut this Friday (Oct. 18) at LFA 194. She will face off with the pro debuting Shannel Butler (0-0).

Hi! So I’m genderfluid but lean fem presenting, and use they/them pronouns. I’m aroace (romance positive/neutral, sex repulsed). My main hobbies include writing, drawing, and some martial arts (taekwondo and kickboxing specifically, but I’m trying to branch out to maybe Krav Maga or BJJ).

My interests vary, like, a lot but the stuff right now are poisonous plants and animals (jellyfish and manchineel trees specifically), the usages of mushrooms to make reusable building materials and vines as piping materials in order to create sustainable cities, BSD, f1, history in general, old-times weapons (SWORDS. So, so many swords), Sky:CotL, the 1983 revolution of Burkina Faso (real specific, sorry), and I tend to develop similar interests to people around me.

I’m an Aquarius and an INTP-T (last time I checked) with gifted kid syndrome and eldest daughter issues. I’m also Canadian and can’t stand hot climates what so ever and have social anxiety disorder and general anxiety disorder. I also play piano and most woodwind instruments and I know 2 (English, French) languages and am working on a 3rd (Italian).

Physically I’m 5,10-5,11 with pale skin and light freckles, brown-red, wavy hair that’s about a bob length in the back and has 2 longer pieces in the front as well as 2 bleached pieces. I’m plus-size and relatively muscular in my legs and shoulders (not so much in my torso and arms but eh) as well as kinda curvy. I’ve got large, slightly downturned hazel eyes and weird eyebrows but there’s nothing I can do about that. I’m looking to get some snakebites soon, as well as an industrial piercing in at least one of my ears.

My style leans between comfy stuff (jeans, hoodies, etc) and Edwardian era witch (dresses, witch hats, big leather sacs). I always wear docs and my favourite colour is green.

I don’t have a lot of preferences in other people tbh, everyone’s chill.

My favourite foods are beef barley stew, lemon meringue pie, and Ethiopian food as a whole (Chinese takeout from specifically Quality foods is the next best thing imo). I really like ovaltine and I have a few health issues that were still trying to figure out (iron deficiency + possibly pcos).

I’m not a cat or dog person, I love both don’t get me wrong, but I really like weird animals and I want a pet bear (not legal where I live or good for the animal sadly :[ )

There was only two people in my bracket and that’s after numbing me up a weight class. so even though I lost both rounds I got silver. But I survived both 5 mins rounds without submitting. So I’ll count that as a win

Well, that certainly sounded more like an actual date. "Sure, that sounds fun."

So you made sure to bring dinner date clothes along with you to the gym, along with some makeup. You needed to clean up afterwards, after all.

Black was already waiting for you when you made your way onto the mats to spar with him. After a brief agreement on rules, it was on.

Grappling was your main fighting style, so that's what you went for, first trying to get him on the ground. Which was harder than you'd anticipated, speedy and slippery thing he was. You'd almost accuse him of shortcutting if you didn't know how much he valued keeping his word.

Eventually though, you two ended up on the floor. Grabbing at each other and being so damn close to his face was... A bit more flustering than you'd expected, but you were trying to keep your cool. Hopefully he'd mistake your blushing for just being red from exertion.

Although being put in a headlock wasn't quite as sexy. You lost, which was probably to be expected.

"SEE! EVEN WITHOUT MAGIC, THE MAGNIFICENT BLACK HAS ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM DEFEATING A HUMAN SUCH AS YOURSELF! NYEHEHEH!"

Giselle is a new addition, she's be introduced properly soon. As part of switching over to DAZ install manager her character was something I didn't realise I already had (must have gotten it in a bundle and not realised).

Regardless, she's been working at Lilith's all week with great success. The only reason it's not a full week dancing and serving is that the Saturday is another oil wrestling session, but Giselle is excited to be part of that. She wrestled in high-school and has a purple belt in BJJ. It's probably not going to be that much of a challenge, but it should be fun.

The match maker, Lilith, makes a few phone calls, scouts her newest arrival, and finds out about the purple belt.

Corveena it is.

I've said it before, it takes a special kind of something to enjoy losing. But that's grappling. So definitely a challenge, notes taken that when Corveena locks on the body triangle no amount of slippery anything makes it possible to escape, and still a lot of fun.

As Eric whispered into Luis's ear as his pecs pressed against Luis's pecs, the feeling of attraction Luis had for Eric grew to excitement. Luis knew that he had to take Eric and get this stud on his back so he could see what Eric's manhood looked like right before he shoved his own down Eric's throat. The determination to win grew but Luis knew it was going to be a fight. Eric had already easily pushed him to the ground on his back. He was also confident that he had the skill set to conquer this stud, "You're mine," Luis assured himself as he started to break Eric's hold.  Eric was focused as he pushed Luis to the ground. After whispering in Luis's ear, Eric began what he was really good at, his grappling. Eric was highly skilled in his grappling technique. He had started training in BJJ a month after arriving in the city to start his current accounting position for which he was headhunted after 6 years working for his first firm. It took the headhunters three separate offers to finally poach Eric away to the city. Eric found it hard to leave the firm that had given him his start, but finally, his mentor at the firm told him that he needed to take the third offer and that he would be proud to have Eric poached by such a prestigious firm. Now seven years into his BJJ training, Eric was a second-degree purple belt and found that he enjoyed everything the sport had to offer. Combined with a few years of some other hard-core fight training he had received from a fortuitous encounter in a bar, Eric was a confident fighter who hungered for more and different experiences. The more he experienced, he thought, the better prepared he would be to beat his twin again and avoid the humiliation that Ethan had no doubt planned as his victory fun when they met up later this year. Eric twisted Luis's arm as he put his full strength into the armbar. Luis was an impressively built fighter. Eric knew he had to break down Luis early or Luis would no doubt take control and work him over. As Eric expected, Luis would not go down easy. Eric felt Luis change his position and soon after, Eric saw sand approaching his face quickly as Luis sent him face-first into the ground.
