“Y/N L/N coming through the inside! This looks like P2 for the Redbull rookie! Don’t blink because you might just miss him!”

Loud cheering erupted from the watcher stands and colorful smoke hung in the air. Nobody really knew who you were since your addition to the team was announced barely a day before the quali.

“OH MY GOD, Y/N! YOU DID IT, YOU DID IT!”

Horners voice boomed through the team radio, the mechanics and engineer’s celebrations could be heard in the background. Tears pricked in the corners of your eyes; you couldn’t believe you placed so good at your first race in F1. You knew that you were talented, and you’d worked hard too, but your second place today was unexpected. Usually, it takes time to settle into F1, figuring out all the dynamics and such, so naturally you’d expect some more difficulties than this.

Once you’d hopped out of the car, you received many pats on your helmet. You were obsessed with the design that you’d chosen a few weeks ago; it was a beautiful reinterpretation of ‘starry night’ depicting a race car, watcher stands and track lights instead of a village.

You were grinning from ear to ear, proud of today’s accomplishment. Naturally, your teammate and racing legend Max had won the Grand Prix, but you were more than pleased with your work. The third place was achieved by your friend and fellow racer Lando Norris.

You took your place on the chair in the cooldown room, observing the replay of your drive carefully, still grinning. Lando punched your shoulder lightly. “Hey dude, good drive!”, he had a playful gleam in his eyes. “Next time i’ll get you tho.”, he smiled mischievously. “Keep on dreaming, I’ll crush everything in my way.” You patted him on the shoulder, making idle chit chat with your buddy.

Max stood at the other end of the room, watching the replay too. Your presence, your words, your attitude left a sour taste in his mouth. It’s not like you were mean or anything, but the way you present yourself seemed too cocky for a rookie. He’d never admit it, but having you around felt threatening. Like a lion, waiting for the Zebra to get distracted for a split second so it can rip it to shreds. But Max was always the lion? Why not now?

Many Formula 1 Fans were intrigued by you, the first impressions you left sure were lasting ones. “Fucking hell! Did this dick even get his fucking driver’s license?! Do I need to get him some glasses or will he be able to see the turn next time?” You were a strong fiery character, reminding many people of Max. Your overly confident nature was charming somehow and managed to pull in many fans, but it also earned you loads of judgmental stares and nasty comments on Instagram.

But you loved the attention. Your fire was only fueled more and more that way.

The ceremonial part of spraying fizzy alcohol and various festivities took its time, but eventually ended with you feeling sticky and gross, but happy.

Shortly after leaving the podium, you were circled by interviewers, fighting to be the first to speak with the ‘wonder rookie’. A grey-haired man with an unknown accent gained your attention first. “Congratulations on your Success! You surely made a good first impression! Did you expect this outcome and furthermore, do you think someone else would’ve deserved the second place?” You blinked a few times at the blunt question but broke into a playful grin soon after. “To be honest, I couldn’t exactly weigh my chances because I’m new to all of the circumstances, but my success is definitely welcomed with open arms.” You looked intently at the camera that was shoved into your face, still smiling. “I deserve the second place, if anyone else felt like they deserved it, they should’ve tried to be faster than me.” The interviewer was flabbergasted at your retaliation and raised his eyebrows in shock. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m sweating terribly.” You turned towards the camera, pointing at it: “Lot’s of love to all of you watching, have a nice evening!”

And with that you rushed off, wanting to peel your race suit off as fast as possible.

Max stood nearby and had heard the whole interview while talking to his friend Charles Leclerc. He was equally as perplexed as the interviewer. How could you talk like that at your first Grand Prix? Cocky much.

Max couldn’t wait to crush your little rookie dreams.

Original Black Sabbath to Play One Last Show

- Back to the Beginning, July 5 in Manchester, will be Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance

Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward will reunite under the Black Sabbath banner one final time July 5 in the band’s hometown of Manchester.

Sabbath - minus Ward - wrapped its The End tour in 2017. This last appearance will mark the original quartet’s first concert in 20 years.

Dubbed Back to the Beginning, it’s also the end of performing for Osbourne, who will “play his own short set before joining with Black Sabbath for his final bow,” per an announcement.

“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning; time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” the singer said in a statement.

“How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love? Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham forever.”

Osbourne was slated to play 2023’s PowerTrip festival but bowed out after battling a series health issues that have had him canceling dates since the previous decade. He announced his retirement the same year.

Back to the Beginning is a benefit for Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice.

Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Mastodon will also play, along with a one-time supergroup set to include members of Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, Disturbed, Limp Bizkit, Faith No More and others.

“This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever,” music director Tom Morello said.

Everyone, I would like to announce that I am back on my bullshit.

What this consists of:

Half finished fan art that I want to post but am worried about the reception I’ll get.

Research for my Mac/F! Sole fanfics, currently I’m at where bombs may have hit in FO4 based on destruction of buildings. (I’m probably on a watchlist or two based on my Google searches)

Loading up my YouTube playlist I specifically made for said fanfics with a lot of songs. Current count is at 152. (@atombonniebaby was it you that said Limp Bizkit’s Behind Blue Eyes fits MacCready? Because if so, you are 100% right. It’s now one of my favorite songs for him.)

Finally finishing the rough outline of one of the fics and beginning to type out chapters. Realizing I need to add more detail for readers, and going through all of my saved posts to get ideas.

Part two of my experience, for @myfirstlobotomy

In 2015 Limp Bizkit had a huge tour in Russia and I knew I had to be there no matter what. I bought tix to Moscow and Saint-Petersburg shows and soon after they announced the second show in Moscow 🙄 I KNEW I HAD TO BE THERE TOO. So my plan was kinda simple: go to the venue as early as possible and try to ask someone from the crew for a guest-pass. Yes, that’s possible and yes I got it 😏

Anyway, we go back to the meeting… The first one I met was John after he went out of the club to smoke. I asked him to draw something in my memory notebook as I did with Lethal but John first refused and then made a doodle 😂

Also I have a drawing from Fred’s manager Gabe who was kind enough to give me the guest-pass.

Then Fred arrived but I literally forgot how to speak and he left. Then there was Wes, who chuckled when I shouted to him that I had a present (😭). Dw, me and my friend asked Fred’s wife to pass presents to the band. Wes left too. Here I am with John 🥺❤️

After the show Gabe also was giving out picks and drumsticks. He gave me a pick and I asked for a drumstick too (yeah I know, I know…) He responded “I already gave you a pick!”. I said it was for a friend which was then true. He said he’ll give it to me the next time lmao

Also Fred went out after the show and I managed to get a sign, but no photo cuz my phone was dead.

The second show was the next day, I had to wander around the streets for a night because I had nowhere to go (the last bus to the place I stayed was long time gone 🥲). Gabe gave me and a couple of my friends guest-passed, I gave him a bottle of Karelian Balm (alcohol drink made with berries). I remember he opened his backpack looking like I was handing him a pack of drugs 😂😭

Long story short, the second show in Moscow was over too. I managed to catch Kadaver’s (Wes’ guitar tech) kimono they used on the Halloween show. I still have it lol

The Saint-Petersburg show was a month later… *time passes*

Here we go. I had a friend there who already met the band a couple of times and knew people who could help me to do it.

We went to the Hotel, waited there… First time the guys left and I had no chance to meet them and I was already sad.

I wanna make a disclaimer: stalking is bad and I really hate bothering people but I couldn’t help it…

When Wes went out for a walk me and a couple of girls (maybe there were guys too, I don’t remember) followed him. 😭😭😭

He stopped by a lady riding a horse which was a popular tourist attraction in Saint-P. While he petted the horse, we caught him up. I was in the first row right behind him and went completely numb… The man of my dreams was real and standing right here… Dude… My friend was more adjusted to talking to famous people and simply said “excuse me”. Wes turned back. I still remember his eyes when he saw a bunch of fans.

Man was flabbergasted…

Anyway he was kind enough to give signs and take some pics with us. I also asked him to draw something which he did (sorry for the background lmao)

Also I gave him one of his paintings to sign and he seemed happy with it and told something about the style or something… I was too stunned to comprehend English (or anything I guess), so i didn’t understand him neither the first time nor the second one (I asked him to repeat, lmao).

My friend took a pic. Which, thanks to my stupid phone, looked like this:

I tried to get a sign for my friend who got no money to go… “Her bad” Was replied 😭

Then he said bye-bye, gotta go!

We also met his tech and some guys from the crew he was walking with and went back to the hotel to try and get to Fred (didn’t succeed tho).

One “highlight” of that night was the horse lady. I don’t remember why we stopped near her… Maybe it was a coincidence or something but at one moment I felt something heavy on my foot. I looked down and saw a long leg… That fucking horse stepped on my foot 😭😭😭

I yelled “HORSE IS ON MY FOOT” and the lady said angrily “you shouldn’t have touched it then”. I fucking didn’t… The other girl tried to pet the horse and I suffered. What a life, right?

The next day was a show. As always I came to the venue very early. When I saw a bus going to the back door, I ran there. Catch! Fred, Wes and John! I briefly asked Wes for a new photo since the first one was you saw what. He murmured “sure”.

I don’t know what’s with my face, I’m sorry 😂 still better pic than the first.

Fred was taking pics too, I remember that security guy was telling me to get off and I replied to him in English asking for one photo.

Fred heard me.

Good Stuff: Nimona

or How to Not Worry & Channel Your Inner Limp Bizkit

In the year before 2020, it was announced that Blue Sky Studios was adapting ND Stevenson's hit graphic novel. Everything changed though when Disney was on that bullshit post-Fox buyout, where to our surprise Blue Sky and Nimona would be shut down. The latter's cancellation hit especially hard understanding it was almost finished anyways, but that's Disney for you. Long as you don't say gay and give 'em your money, they'll stay out of the way. Leave it to Netflix to let the film rebound from Super Hell and finally make it to both the big and small screen; makes you forget they're garbage at anything else. All in all, Blue Sky had the last laugh one more time but was Nimona able to bring the flavorful fireworks or did we get a weak flare that fumbled before the 4th of July?

Well, I will declare now that the film... is fun. If it wasn't fun, that means Disney made it and would remake it live-action around 2040. This film is a ride-or-die by its titular protagonist and lads, I can't lie...

PROTECT. THIS. GODDAMN. SMILE.

Nimona is both a bundle of chaotic joy and an entity that deserved far better. She's like the manifestation of Limp Bizkit, 2000s punk, and B-tier shitposting rolled into an unapologetic but deeply frustrated rebel. I've seen naysayers before release going, "She's another attitude girl archetype" and like no. She has that raw gremlin bastard energy, but she's never an annoying bitch and that's big difference. The best thing is that you're with Ballister in getting to know her; it surprisingly hard for folk to be accepting of somebody harmless who's more comfortable with themselves than anyone lets on. She's not a character I felt forced to sympathize with nor was intrusive on Ballister's story. She's not exactly the focus, but she earned being the star of this movie.

I got major Haruhi and Kyon vibes from their dynamic and it's great

Plotwise, there's a good flow to it all that makes this rewatchable thrill. If there's one major gripe I have is that while Nimona and Ballister have a great dynamic, there's a part in the 2nd act involving them and the villain that was a bit rushed. I will admit to not have read the book, but while I do know the tone is different given they were probably going for an all age rating, I say things didn't feel too compromised. My mind is blown enough that we got an animated kids movie with two, COUNT 'EM TWO, openly queer protagonists. No winks and nudges towards Ballister being gay, no scatterbrained subtlety on Nimona's genderfluid existence, and thank balls their story exists as more than being a preachy memoir. These two get to just BE and live to go on a crime spree justice adventure. That is what I've wanted for longer than any of you think and this delivered. Any criticisms I could have I felt was diluted by the actual fun this was.

And if you've seen Iron Giant, you probably will love this movie

To conclude, I am wondering of a timeline where this wasn't originally cancelled and Blue Sky didn't get axed. This was as much their movie as it is Annapurna and DNEG who helped finish it. People said it looked "unfinished" but then again, given the situation I can cut it some slack because it still plays out gorgeously. Like you know Blue Sky got most of it done, but you think about the changes in direction and ponder if this was the best outcome for the film. It is poetic though, a phoenix forced to burn out but gets to revive as a stronger, if not more so, being that people finally get to see. For Nate, this is undoubtedly a dream come true. As for me, not since Puss in Boots The Last Wish have I been delighted to call this a...

NEW MUSIC:

Bring Me the Horizon released a cover of Oasis’ classic song “Wonderwall” in their own style. The single is a part of the Spotify Sessions series and was released alongside a remix of the former band’s song “YOUtopia.”

Four Year Strong released a new animated music video for their single “Rollercoaster.” The new video arrives ahead of their headline United Kingdom and European tour next month, with support from labelmates Koyo and Shoreline.

As It Is announced their Never Happy, Ever After 10th anniversary edition album. The re-recorded record will feature appearances from Sleeping with Sirens, Mallory Knox, NOAHFINNCE, Holding Absence, Sum 41 and Trash Boat, among others.

South Arcade released a nostalgia-filled music video for their recent song “2005.” It references vintage adverts and classic bands from the era including Paramore, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and The Strokes.

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Billie Eilish joined Green Day onstage for a performance of the latter’s ballad “Last Night on Earth.” The event took place at Los Angeles’ FireAid concert, and was followed by the band playing “Still Breathing” and “When I Come Around.”

Sum 41 played the last night of their final tour, the Setting of the Sum World Tour, last Thursday. The show took place at Scotiabank Arena in their home city of Toronto. 

AC/DC announced a European tour with support from The Pretty Reckless. The tour kicks off in Prague on June 26 and will end in Edinburgh on August 21.

Artists such as Hayley Williams, MUNA, Phantom Planet, St. Vincent and The Linda Lindas, among others, were announced to play G*ve a F*ck LA, a fire relief benefit show. The event takes place tomorrow at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

Underoath were revealed as the second headliners for this year’s Radar Festival taking place in Manchester, England. Other bands that will play include Yonaka, As Everything Unfolds, Normandie and more.

OTHER NEWS:

Magnolia Park’s Joshua Roberts joined Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden on the latest episode of the latter’s podcast Artist Friendly. The former discussed the band’s recent fixation on nu-metal and their upcoming neo-gothic concept album, Vamp.

Gojira won the award for Best Metal Performance at this year’s Grammy Awards, honored for their version of “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça Ira!)” from last year’s Summer Olympics. Among the other nominees were Spiritbox and Knocked Loose.
