B, H, and I please!
B. Beta Reader - Do you use a beta reader? What's your editing process like?
Hahahaha... we write and die as lonely folk, kids. There is no second pair of eyes here, only my old, tried and impatient ones. My editing process is to write something, reread it as I go, and then force myself to do a final reread before my impatience to post online gets the better of me.
I then read it again on my phone where I often find more mistakes or typos because the structure and format is slightly different from that of my PC screen, so things jump out at me that didn't before. At this point, I can also read it clearer (??) so maybe I'll get inspiration to reword a sentance or add a chunk that feels better, all of a sudden. This means that things often get changed about after it's been uploaded, which on AO3 is easy but on FFnet it's a faff and on Tumblr I've got to be quick before someone reblogs it (if it's lucky enough to get a reblog, of course).
This is a very bad habit of mine because I often feel like the improved version doesn't get seen but try as I might to reread again and again before posting, I know I'll still find things I want to change afterwards, no matter what.
H. Happy- Do you write happy endings? Any particular reason why?
I don't think I've written enough long stories to be able to say! I think overall I have done bittersweet happy endings though, something that reflects the growth of the characters throughout the story- you can't have everything, after all.
I like to leave things on a hopeful note, or as mostly happy, I'd say.
I. Image - What kind of image do you think you hold in the eyes of your readers? How do you think they perceive you?
This is a wonderful question, I've been told recently that my different accounts have very different vibes ;) So much so that I hope people know that rainbowfruitpastilles is also me, rather than somebody else. I've had the fleeting urge to change either the name of this account or the pfp of the other but I'm very attached to the accounts as they are so I'll remain cloaked in mystery.
I hadn't really thought about how other people in the fandom, or readers in particular, see me before but hopefully the image of me is a positive one and that people consider me approachable or friendly. It's always weird to think about how I'm perceived just by the work I put out because I'm obviously more than that, but that's why I love Tumblr so much- I can just exist in this space as a passion and hobby and talk to people who enjoy the same things.
I'm really curious about this though so feel free to let me know how I come across to you!
Thanks for the ask <3

Okay here’s my thoughts on chapter 300, under the cut because spoilers.
-Ngl I was surprised to see Rei at the hospital to see Enji. I expected her to be seeing Shoto and that be about it. Considering the frantic reactions of the hospital workers rushing to get Rei’s TV turned off when Dabi’s reveal video was playing, that gave me the impression that they were doing that as a response to try and prevent Rei from having a mental breakdown and since she had seen at least some of the video it would’ve had an adverse reaction on her. I realize that she’d been at a point with her healing that Rei had basically been ready to leave the hospital, but realizing that Touya was not only alive but had been this now infamous serial killer that was a member of the equally infamous League of Villains, I had been expecting a worse reaction from her somehow. So I’m pleasantly surprised by the fact that she’s facing Enji now with zero fear and quite a lot of convinction in why she’s there and what she apparently has to say to him. 301 is gonna be interesting for me in that respect. -Shoto slamming the door on Enji is on par with him hanging up on Enji mid sentance or leaving his texts on read and I honestly was laughing for like four minutes straight when I finally read that section in full. I love that boy and the random shit he does to his dad. -Actually seeing Rei out of the mental hospital is a lot for me in a way because we’d expected it to be happening almost 100 chapters ago, but sure as hell not under these circumstances. When the Endeavor Internship arc was setting it up for Rei to be released to move in with Natsuo and Fuyumi in a new home, that’s what I’d been expecting to be how she first leaves the hospital for good. So it’s bittersweet that she’s out to go visit her son and husband in the hospital. -I’m reserving all judgment on the future conversation between the whole family until we actually see it. What Rei has to say about the whole family and Touya, I have no idea honestly and I don’t want to speculate too hard on it and overthink it. -I’m interested to see why Rei brought a single flower for Enji and the fact that it’s the one we know he’s sent to her at her hospital room. The fact that she’s carrying it with her to Enji’s room and not leaving it in Shoto’s (which is presumably where the three siblings and Rei were before they all went to go see Enji) tells me that he is its intended recipient and it wasn’t something any of the kids bought for their mom. So something else I’m interested to see pan out.
I don’t have much else beyond this yet since the big conversation hasn’t happened yet and Rei hasn’t said much yet, but I’m extremely interested to see where things go with the Todoroki family.

a/n: oh hello. here is a little something that came to me based entirely off of a conversation I recently had with a friend. please enjoy, er, at least try not to cry? sorry im the worlds saddest fic writer lmao
taglist: @capsparkyspeirs @wecomrades @tvserie-s-world
══════════════════
Everything was just as you’d left it, which raised a bit of suspension. Your sister *had* to have invaded your unused room while you were away. You just knew she’d snuck in here to sing into your hairbrush and push the clothes in your closet every which way. But… nothing was out of place.
You eased onto the stool of your vanity, noticing the steam from the shower you just took, curl from the ensuite. The only thing that seemed out of place here and now, was you. That, and a tattered old photo you’d stuck into the mirror you looked toward. It was perhaps the newest item in your possession, though the photo looked old as time. It was of Skip, smiling during a random morning of another day at war. The photo was worn and wrinkled in places, from months of being crammed in your pocket and nights held tightly in your clutch. It was all you had of the man now.

Thanks for the ask <33
ask game: Writer's Questions
18. choose a passage from your writing. tell me about the backstory of this moment. how you came up with it, how it changed from start to end. spicy addition: questioner provides the passage.
Hmm this one is rather short but let's do this one:
And with that, he guided you softly towards the grand piano bathed in the moonlight. Sitting you nearer to him, you watched as his fingers once against dance along the keys as the music brought you both into a paradisical fantasy, lost in the music of the night.
As if you were worlds away from the disarray currently erupting  in Yokohama as Fyodor’s plan unfolds.
From A Flattering Dream or a Worthless Fancy
This was the ending of the fic, which I was hoping to create a juxtaposition between the very ethereal atmosphere that permeated the majority of it, with a more eerie sentance about chaos that was almost simultaneously happening. I really hoped the sentance would break the illusion the front of the fic created, but I feel like the sentence isn't powerful enough for that effect orz.
I wanted this for an ending for this fic because it ties back into the title of the fic "A flattering dream or a worthless fancy", it's actually a quote from Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew's induction, which basically just means "a sweet dream or an impossible fantasy". In the events of the play, when the Lord said this, he was playing a joke on someone and giving him this fantasy that he was in fact a lord when he was in fact not. This quote kind of adds to budding the theme of imagination vs reality that would be present in the play. And I thought it fit really well :3
27. who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? why?
Surprisingly, it's Chuuya orz. I love Chuuya don't get me wrong, but I like trying to get into the head of my characters first before writing them, and I feel like I don't understand him well enough. Before I was trying to write another fic for him, but I kind of gave up. I'll probably have to read the light novels first.
28. who is the most delightful character you’ve ever written? why?
It's rather obvious, but I like writing about Dazai. I think there's a lot of internal thoughts and human problems I can explore through Dazai's character. He is I would say a bittersweet character, he's on the edge of despair but there's also a small glow of hope. His character is also really interesting to explore through writing, and I can convey stuff through him as well. Plus he allows for a very specific type of hurt/comfort I like. Besides, seeing Dazai with emotional vulnerability is amazing, though cannocially you'll have to literally pry it open from him.

Y’know those snappy blurbs that you get on the covers of comics from either well-known creatives, comics news websites or high-brown periodicals? The ones that are one part heavy-handed sales pitch, one part ‘famous-mates-back-patting-exercise’, designed to entice your hard earned cash out of your pocket and into the tills of your LCBS? We’ve yet to have one of those, mostly because we don’t review as many comics as I’d like*, but for Si Spurrier and Caspar Wijngaard‘s ANGELIC, we’re going to be cheeky and presumptuous enough to come up with one of our own:
Okay, sure, it’s no Kieron Gillen quote – he’s a lot, LOT smarter and pithier than we could ever be – but we stand by it: ANGELIC is truly one of the highlights of our regular pull list each month and Si and Casper (along with crisp design work from Emma Price and some really inspired lettering from Jim Campbell) have come up with an original creation with a lot more than just a WIZARD OF OZ motif flittering around the page. This is some really meaty stuff – if you’ll pardon the expression – that sits very nicely alongside our regular purchase of Marguerite Bennett‘s ANIMOSITY (AfterShock Comics) as a true one-two punch of fantastical storytelling and social commentary.
Admittedly, very unlike the afore-mentioned ANIMOSITY, one of the big draws of ANGELIC is that it’s an all-ages book, one of the first published by Image Comics that I’m aware of, and also one of those rare beasts that has a female lead character. This means that you can buy this for your kiddiewink, safe in the knowledge that, as well as being as a right rip-roaring yarn, there’s some strong, responsible reinforcement of social and religious themes that they can take and adapt for their own judgements. Told you it was smart.
The even better news is, even if you’ve missed the floppies at your friendly neighbourhood comics vendor, you can now pick up the first trade of the title this May. We say… Well, you can read the quote for yourself, can’t you?
See? Told you we were fans.
A BITTERSWEET ADVENTURE OBSESSION ARRIVES IN ANGELIC, VOL. 1, THIS MAY
“Eisner-nominated writer Simon Spurrier (THE SPIRE, CRY HAVOC, X-MEN LEGACY, GODSHAPER) and star artist Caspar Wijngaard (LIMBO, DARK SOULS, ASSASSIN’S CREED) present readers with an all-new Young Adult fantasy adventure in ANGELIC, VOL. 1: HEIRS & GRACES. It will collect issues #1-6 of the series and hit stores this May.
Winged monkeys! Techno-dolphins! Quantum alleycats! In ANGELIC, humanity’s long gone. Its memory lingers only as misunderstood rituals among mankind’s leftovers: the genetically modified animals they used and abused for eons. But for one young flying monkey, QORA, the routines are unbearable. All she wants is to explore. Instead she’s expected to settle down, to become a mother…to lose her wings.
ANGELIC, VOL. 1 is a powerful and timely parable about religion, repression and female rebellion, but all layered beneath joyous animal antics in the ruins of civilization. Expect WALL-E by way of Animal Farm in a watershed title among YA comics, which will tug at readers’ heartstrings.
ANGELIC, VOL. 1 (Diamond Code MAR180601, ISBN: 978-1-5343-0663-9) will hit stores on Wednesday, May 9th and bookstores on Tuesday, May 15th. It can be pre-ordered at Amazon, Barnes & Noble,, Books-a-Million, IndieBound, and Indigo.
Select praise for ANGELIC (which doesn’t include our quote, and are probably a lot better):
“Angelic is beautifully illustrated, pure imagination from one of the best writers in comics. Plus monkeys. I love it.” —Brian K. Vaughan
“It’s Animal Farm meets A Clockwork Orange, with some Watership Down, The Handmaid’s Tale and a hefty dose of the best kinds of girl-centered YA adventure.” —Caitlin Rosberg at The Onion’s AV Club
“Angelic is giddy, fierce and fun. It’s a coming of (monk-)age story in a wild post-apocalypse with rocket-propelled dandy dolphins, bickering baddies and a rebellious girlmonk beginning to question the coda of flying monkey society. My eight year old daughter and I love it.” —Lauren Beukes
“Smart, gorgeous, & weird. An epic adventure in a world without humans. Go get it.” —Matt Rosenberg
“As much as ANGELIC is about questioning authority and history in a post-apocalyptic world, it’s also full of humor. It kind of has to be, with flying monkeys and rocket-powered dolphins who sound like they’re in a Oscar Wilde play… It’s got action, jokes, and a moral compass that points towards healthy skepticism and questioning authority. It’s an entertaining read for adults and kids alike. Anyone who has a little adventure in them should read it.” —Comic Book Resources
“ANGELIC from Image Comics is fantastic. It’s the futuristic teenage flying monkeys comic that I can read with my kid.” —Gerry Duggan
“It’s easily one of the most compelling debuts of any comic I’ve read this year. Fun, thought-provoking and gorgeously drawn.” —SYFY Wire
“A lot of colourful fun with clever, playful language.” —Duncan Fegredo
“A post-apocalyptic WE3—and gorgeous looking too .” —P.J. Holden
