@fredandgeorgenet‘s first creation event: weasley’s wizard wheezes

harry and hermione first introduced fred and george to youtube in the summer after the triwizard tournament. naturally, fred and george decided to make a video about the business venture they were making: Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.of course, they needed harry or hermione on hand just in case something went wrong with the camera, and they had no idea how to edit their videos. plus, the rest of their family and everyone else who was staying at grimmauld place had no clue what they were doing and would often walk in to their room when they were in the middle of filming (it was mostly ron). but their first video, titled “we’re opening a shop” went up in that summer, and their channel started amassing viewers, many of whom were muggles who thought the magical aspect of their jokes was a further part of the joke. nevertheless, they grew quite popular with muggles.

after the battle of hogwarts, harry and hermione took it upon themselves to convince fred and george to expand their joke shop into the muggle world, selling muggle versions of their products. the twins, of course, agreed, because they would never pass up an opportunity to make people laugh, and no other wizarding shop had muggle branches, and they were all about doing things no one else had before.

they hired multiple muggle engineers to help them build their first muggle shop - they were keeping the brand “Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes” but to the average muggle it was just magic tricks and jokes, so they needed to find a way to make things look similar and have a similar layout to their shop in diagon alley, without using magic. in the end, it looked really similar, and the twins were in awe of what ordinary muggles could do. they decided to film another video, a tour of their shop, because they were so proud of it, and to let people know that they were open for business.

up until that point, they didn’t know about instagram, until one of the comments on their video said “found your instagram and it lead me to this channel! so glad i found it, this is amazing!!”. as it turned out, hermione and harry, with the help of ron and ginny, had made them an instagram account around the time they started the youtube channel, and had been running it ever since. they gave the twins the password, but fred and george decided to let them keep running it.

and later on, when ron started working with them after he realised being an auror just wasn’t for him, it became a part of his official job to keep all their social media running.

1: Who spends almost all their money on the other? Riktor: Viktor doesn’t really buy himself a lot of stuff save anything he really needs for Quidditch or house essentials, so he ends up with a lot of money that he just spends on Ron, both because he wants to spend money on Ron and because he feels weird having loads of money floating around. He feels like something is going to go wrong with it, somehow.

Neville/George: George is like a magical money tree who spends ridiculous amounts of money on things and is the kind of guy who dances while spending money, whereas Neville is a scrimper by nature who searches for sickles under the settee and who checks the interest on his Gringotts account, so naturally, George is the giver here. (Neville does occasionally buy nice things, but only once he’s saved enough to not feel guilty about it. Though he feels guilty anyway.)

2: Who sleeps in the other’s lap?Riktor: Ron. He doesn’t intend to, usually, but he falls asleep easily and usually the nearest warm place in which to fall asleep happens to be Viktor’s lap. (Viktor, of course, doesn’t mind in the slightest.)

Neville/George: Neville likes cuddles a lot and occasionally follows George around the house for a hug, so he likes to curl up on George when they’re sitting down together, and he finds it all too easy to fall asleep when he’s comfy like that. Though this does have the side effect of occasionally waking up with a Sharpie moustache.

7: Which one constantly wears the other’s clothes?Riktor: Ron’s clothes are a bit too small for Viktor, but Viktor’s clothes are just the perfect oversized fit on Ron, who’s used to wearing other peoples’ clothes anyway. And they’re just so much comfier, and Viktor just gives him that look when he’s wearing one of Viktor’s T-shirts that it’s definitely worth it.

Neville/George: Their bedroom floor is a bit of a free-for-all of clothes until Neville sorts out where they’re meant to be, so they both usually end up in the other’s clothes. Sometimes back-to-front. If Neville has to go on a trip without George or if George is away, he’ll spend most of the duration of that time wearing George’s clothes, because it makes him feel closer to George. 

14: Which one keeps accidentally using the other’s last name instead of their own?Riktor: Viktor likes to attempt to stay low-profile, so is known to most of the locals where he lives as “Viktor Weasley”. (Ron’s not stupid; he knew Viktor said it by accident the first time and has stubbornly been running with it since.)

Neville/George: Neville is constantly made to feel like an honorary Weasley, so the mistake is easy enough to make. Though embarrassing to anyone who knows what his actual surname is. He’s considering marrying George just so it stops being a mistake.

Hey! I've been receiving pretty mixed answers to this so I thought it'd be best to ask one of you guys- I'm currently doing my A-Levels (just started) however for my IGCSEs, I got 2A*s, 1A, 3Bs, 2Cs and well, an E. (in Chemistry but I don't really have plans f pursuing it further) If I do get a grip on myself and do well in A-Levels and have a good Personal Statement and all that, do you think Cambridge might still consider me despite these average IGCSE grades? Thanks for answering and helping!

Yes, definitely! I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but I think it’s so important to realise that GSCEs are really only just one aspect of your application. If you do well in A-levels, and well on the admissions assessment (the personal statement doesn’t really matter that much, but obvs you would want it to be good), you should be able to grab yourself an invite to interview. Wowing at interview would help make up for subpar GSCE grades. So don’t panic -- stay focused, and you can definitely do it! 

(You may also want to think about applying strategically!)
