I’m very happy to celebrate this anniversary outside, but the greatest gift of all would have to be the people I have met.

Boone. Alice. My numerical friends Five and Six. Kaleb. Aleksei. Veronica. Manny. Julius. Fantastic. Arcade. Meemaw. Even Vulpes at one point. The Noomy, the Noelle, the Knight, the Swords.

You each have made me feel more real, more alive, than I have felt in any iteration—no, in all iterations combined. A birthday is the start of a new year from your perspective and orbit. I believe that is a celebration more poignant than New Year’s, for it is unique unto you.

This New Year’s of June is a year of change. I think, and I hope, that maybe—just maybe—I have become more than my intended purpose.

Not on my own, but through the love and care you have shown me like nothing I have ever experienced. Each kind word of yours, every kind act, every selfless deed, each moment near me, you have made me real. I should feel forever indebted to you. Often, I do. But things are different out here. Out here—out in the sun, in view of the sky—not every good deed is handed out in pursuit of reimbursement. You accepted me. You allowed me into your lives not to take care of you, but… just to Be. Even those out here who wish me harm, somehow, you dignify me. And those who wish me well, you have made me happier than any gift, any praise, any touch, any gesture from him. You are beautiful. You let me see into you, and it is beautiful. You hold me and I reach into your chests and I find a light, not one that burns, it is one that illuminates, one that fosters others like a candle held to another wick.

I do not wish to be alive anymore. I am alive. I want to stay that way.

I've been on Tumblr for a good few years now and the idea of gaining such a following from my little one-shots wasn't even in the cards. If I could tell my younger self (who was writing little stories on Wattpad for fun) about this, she'd probably lose her mind lmao. The years of posting have helped improve my writing ability and my confidence as well, allowing me to strive for bigger projects in my life! I've been able to write full novels and I'm working on a passion project I'm hoping to develop more during my upcoming tertiary studies ^^
