Hey guys! A friend of mine has been working on a black TTRPG focused server. seeing how much LO wants to insist on bringing back her transphobic dictator defender of slavery Alaina, i just want to say this: LO, even if you had made alina half the character you say she is, which you didn't, even if you work was somehow positive representation for black women (which isn't, because you insist in saying that they're genetically predisposed to the side that is commonly associated with negative emotions and fascism), even if somehow you were aware of everything that is wrong with her and changed it... that still wouldn't mean that you're a good safe person for BIPOC in any capacity. creating "good media" does not make you not racist. your actions make you racist. your words make you racist. the way you treat BIPOC people, their culture, their heritage, their agency, that is what makes you racist. the roleplay that you make with your wife on the side is not a reflection of what a good person you are. it never was. if anything, it's an uncomfortable revelation of you, like everything you do. you can make a thousand black women with curls that you want and how they having straight hair means they're miserable, and that still would not change at all the kind of person you have revealed yourself to be.

Best Queer TTRPGS

Blue Rose is a long-time love of mine. From its understanding of gender to how it views relationships, this world is queer through and through. Blue Rose uses the AGE system and is well equipped for epic fantasy tales.

Girl By Moonlight: a relative newcomer on the scene, Girl By Moonlight was published earlier this year by Evil Hat Productions. The game actively encourages queer themes, such as the exploration of gender identity and triumph of love over an uncaring world (while not essentially queer, the latter theme is very relatable to many of us!)

Girl By Moonlight uses the Forged in the Dark system, which originated with the popular Blades in the Dark.

Thirsty Sword Lesbians is a by now famous ttrpg Powered by the Apocalypse. Thirsty is a celebration of queer culture, sometimes joyful, sometimes angsty, always engrossing. Its robust social mechanics make it an excellent alternative to dungeon crawlers for those looking for a roleplay heavy gaming experience.

Lichcraft is a rules-lite game about becoming an immortal lich to live long enough to receive gender-affirming healthcare from an increasingly long waitlist. The art is gorgeous and the game cathartic. Also, who doesn't love liches?

is this a good time to say I always disliked the argument some people have that “white people want to roleplay being oppressed, which is why they love playing as the Dalish” when the history of Ireland and Wales is literally of a foreign group coming in and forcibly converting them to a monotheistic faith and destroying their ties to their cultures and languages, labelling them barbaric and uncivilized?

Like yes, white American people do love roleplaying oppression, but we cannot deny that for certain non-American European-based ethnic groups we categorize as White, the Dalish also vaguely resemble their peoples’ cultural erosion and shattering and persecution and dehumanization under Christianization efforts.

I’m American, of course, but I have Irish and Polish ancestry. When I see the city elves I cannot help but think of how my ancestors tried to integrate into the US and were originally met with mixed success. Until the 60s, they weren’t seen as fully “white” despite doing their best to play by the rules and assimilate. In that specific respect of “you will always be considered Other no matter what you do”, it’s not very difficult for me to make those personal connections ALONGSIDE empathizing and accepting the analogies to historical and modern-day BIPOC struggles.

What I’m trying to get at is that the way the elves in the Dragon Age universe are positioned, city and Dalish, white supremacy and imperialism and forced Christianization and the state-mandated abandonment of languages and cultural practices and nearly everything else that the elves are subjected to have also been inflicted on certain European ethnicities, historically, and given how this is a medieval fantasy, the time lines of people like the Irish and Welsh roughly match up right alongside the destruction and oppression of the indigenous peoples of the Americas, European Jews, Romani, and others who see their peoples’ history in the elves.

again by all means, call out white people that seem to be getting too much into the fantasy of being oppressed, but I feel like born-and-raised Irish and Welsh people (“white” in modern imagining of race) have more in common with the elves than first meets the eye.

My name is Pyre, I am a 20 year old man, and I am a trainer to three beloved Pokémon: A Togekiss, a Mismagius, and a Sinistea. (Whom I will tell you more about later!)

I grew up in Unova in a small city down the tracks from Anville Town, but I spent the beginning years of my journey in Nacrene City where I did assistant work and research under Gym Leader Lenora!

I specialise in the study of anthropology, and more specifically the cultural anthropology of human/Pókemon relations. This means I am analysing the information we have as well as new information uncovered to build our understandings of how human and Pokémon have lived together, for the purpose of building a happier, healthier coexistence. Through this, I also have an interest in Pokémon psychology, and debunking certain myths and mindsets trainers can hold about Pokémon!

Expect many long rambles, as well as the occasional mention of my studies. I hope to connect with similarly minded and deeply passionate people.

Hello!

For those confused or unfamiliar with Rotomblr, I am a part of a group of people that post as if they live within the world of Pokémon. This entire post is roleplay, but I understand it may be upsetting to those with difficulties ascertaining realities. If you struggle with unreality, I ask that you block this account or visit when you are more readily able.

If you are familiar with Rotomblr and/or you are part of the community, know that this is my first Pokémon IRL blog and I may make mistakes! I am here to have fun, but I always wish to remain respectful and help others have fun and feel comfortable within their spaces, so let me know if I’ve done something wrong!

I consider this to be more of a self-insert OC rather than a Faller Blog. In this account, I grew up in the Pokemon universe, only know the Pokemon universe, and interact with cannon events as if they were real occurrences. There will be no acknowledgment of the “real world” in this blog! I will also be avoiding OOC as much as possible.

I have had a lifelong love of Pokémon. Like many people, I found the world to be comforting, and I loved the idea of cohabitating with Pokemon in a (mostly) peaceful world. The music, the world building, the characters, and the Pokemon themselves… I hold a very dear spot for it all

A couple of year ago I found the Rotomblr tag, and ever since I’ve been causally scrolling and popping back in. I have grown quite warmly towards the community. When I started feeling much more isolated from others, I found myself being pulled even more, and I eventually made a blog! It’s a mixture of interest and wanting to connect with others. Escapism is a lovely tool.

Will I like Capricious Provenance?

While Capricious Provenance’s main game system is D&D 5e, we use a mixture of different games in the podcast - such as Pathfinder and 1400 Sneak - to help tell our story. Additionally, while the world is set in 5e’s Eberron, it has been altered significantly and partially homebrewed to suit our main characters, featuring elements from various supplements such as Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting. Capricious Provenance is full of magic, whimsy, gods, monstrosities, political intrigue, and queer romance. There is a heavy focus on storytelling through character roleplay that makes room for heart wrenching character arcs and gives space for relationships between the characters to organically develop. The show explores themes of found family, generational trauma, religious trauma, healing, self discovery, the cost of war, freedom and revolution against an oppressive regime. It is ultimately a story of hope in dire times, embracing the monsters within ourselves formed by the world we live in, and finding the beauty in brutality.
