1: His middle name is Layne. Call him this (ONLY allowed for those he's close with) and watch him bluescreen because it always catches him off guard.

2: Spaghetti is his favorite pasta, and probably one of his favorite meals.

3: His natural eye color is green. (originally blue when I first created him)

4: His coven is his family, they're a multi-generational coven. He and his cousins are the current "decision makers" in important coven matters and upholding coven traditions. He didn't care for the responsibility at first and often avoided it, but comes around eventually when he's a bit older with his own family.

5: Out of all his cousins, he's closer to Darcy since they spent the most time together when they were young. They're around the same age and might even live within traveling distance of one another.

6: Around his family, such as his coven and his dads, Salem goes by his first name Isiah. It's uncommon for him to be called by his stage name, unless they're just busting his balls (i.e his cousin Silas, Avis and Noah--all three siblings of one another and coincidentally also the three troublemakers)

7: He has his raven calls recorded into his throat cyberware, which allows him to do his raven croaks when he's not shifted.

8: Salem doesn’t like Judah very much due to completely different lifestyles and clashing personalities—but also because he’s a Leo.

9: He’s not much of a green thumb, nothing really grows when he plants it. Bastien teases him that he inherited his black thumb.

10: He’s very used to hot weather due to having lived in both the Republic of Texas and now, Night City/California, but doesn’t mean he likes it. He prefers colder weather…but can’t tolerate it much. He gets cold very easily!

12: Firm believer in ghosts, never has seen one before. But he really wants to and has ghost hunted before and would again.

13: Urban exploring is a hobby he’s had since he was a teen. He after spent his summers exploring abandoned locations with friends. Now as an adult, he enjoys exploring with his best friend, boyfriend, and their mutual friends.

14: He normally doesn’t wear much clothes around the house. If you drop in, he will answer in his underwear. And he’s not shy at all.

15: Salem is a fan of animation, and has spent plenty of nights just binge watching animated movies—including anime.

16: His magic is a blend of shadow, chaos and hedge magic. He’s very interested in astral work and often lets himself explore the other side of the veil.

17: His astral form is also a raven, though instead of flesh and blood like his usual shifted form, this one is spectral. At times, it can appear as a white wisp. Other times, his raven manifests as a deep purple form of cosmic matter.

18: Whenever he performs in Las Vegas, he stays a few more days after to partake in typical Vegas hedonism. He usually doesn’t remember much of it when he emerges back to civilization.

21: Because of his animal association being a raven and their friendship with wolves out in nature, he tends to get along pretty well with werewolves. He can even understand them when they're shifted and can communicate with them non-verbally.

22: He prefers iced coffee over hot coffee, and iced tea over hot tea. Icy drinks > hot drinks.

23: His big weakness is ice cream. Boy loves his ice cream cones.

24: He has his fathers' names tattooed on either side of his neck.

25: Salem has known Amirah and Alec aka Tyrant since his Houston days. He's still good friends with Amirah, but is estranged from Alec.

26: He's half-demon on Bastien's side, though his witch genes are much more dominant than his demonic ones.

27: Salem’s a big stoner, from his teens up to his current adult years. He almost always carries a joint or two with him in case he wants to invite someone to smoke with him.

28: He was 18 the first time he killed someone. It was almost like a cruel rite of passage into adulthood. Amirah and Alec might have been present.

29: He’s no stranger to rap beef. Salem has released a few tracks dissing his rivals and there are a few about him out there too. One of his current storylines is an ongoing feud between himself and another rapper.

30: Salem doesn’t know much about Bastien’s side of the story. Neither of his fathers like to talk about it much. So he learned to stop asking, but he still can’t help but be a bit curious.

31: He’s comfortable with heights and likes to climb up to high perches to just chill. He also takes flight when shifted and heads up to rooftops when he wants some quiet time.

32: Salem is a deep sleeper. Once he’s knocked out cold, it’s pretty hard to wake him up.

33: His favorite movie is Beetlejuice. It never gets old to him.

34: He’s an “an eye for an eye” type of guy—as the Hales often practice. If you slight him, he’ll return the favor. The severity depends on how bad you pissed him off.

35: As a romantic partner, he’s very intense. He’s possessive and obsessive, and he wants his partner to match his freak. His soulmate is someone that’s as obsessive about him as he is over them.

36: His associated stone is smoky quartz. But he’s also very fond of amethyst and labradorite.

37: Salem values handmade gifts over expensive gifts.

38: 2am burger runs are his favorite nighttime activity. Bonus if he’s hanging out with someone and they go with him.

39: Like the rest of his family and coven, he enjoys collecting oddities and morbid little curios.

41: He also produces phonk music under the moniker MVGE. This is mostly a side project he does for fun.

42: Salem tends to allow himself to be a bit more chatty and friendly towards those that give off good vibes. He’s standoffish with those that have a ‘presence’.

43: He’s slowly learning to see and read other’s auras, which helps him get a decent grasp of someone before he approaches them. He still new to this skill and is being guided by his aunt Colene, who specializes in energy reading and is one of the coven elders.

44: Salem is a night owl and often wakes up around afternoon and becomes most active around dusk.

45: Salem looks a lot like Casey but acts very similar to Bastien.

46: He’s a man spreader when he sits, often slouched in his seat with his knees apart. Otherwise, he sits with his legs stretched out, ankle over ankle.

47: A ball sport that he enjoys playing is basketball. He often plays with Paolo when they hang out. Both playfully trash talk the other the entire time.

48: He made the mistake of laughing at one of the twin’s antics and they’ve been following him around ever since.

49: He enjoys spending time in his shifted raven form and often hangs out as a bird. This also includes giving into his corvid ways and enjoys being a pest to his friends and other passerby’s.

50: A lot of his spell casting have a black, wispy fog visual effect to it.

51: Because of his mage blood, Salem has a longer lifespan than humans. He will live well into his 100s or older.

52: Salem is very outspoken about his beliefs over politics and social issues. He isn’t afraid to say what others might be hesistant to say and he uses his platform to bring awareness to issues he cares deeply about. He’s not afraid of backlash and always challenges it.

53: He’s understands enough Spanish to know what’s being said to him, but can’t speak it much.

54: Salem is very prideful and finds it difficult to ask for help. He has an arrogance to him, as he takes deep pride in being a self-made artist. Everything he’s built for himself in his career has been down on his own without the shadow of another label looming over him.

55: Salem likes individualism and admires those that go against the gain and do their own thing—no matter how weird.

56: Bratty behavior is a major turn off for him. It irritates and annoys him when someone is being whiny and childish around him.

57: Sudden loud noises startle him, such as a balloon popping. Popping opening a can of biscuits drives his anxiety up the wall for a few seconds which is one of his sillier phobias. For comedic effect, when he gets startled—he involuntarily shifts into his raven form and flies up to the nearest perch, leaving a scatter of feathers behind.

58: It’s a running gag that Salem always has his joint in his hand or between his lips when he’s getting up to shenanigans. No matter how rowdy and chaotic it gets, that smoke isn’t going anywhere (aka Julian with his coke and rum from Trailer Park Boys)

59: Despite having lived in California/Night City for a few years, he still uses a lot of Houston slang.

60: Salem doesn’t really play well with others, especially when his personality clashes with them. His list of artists he’s willing to work with is very exclusive. Plus he also has a reputation of being difficult.

61: His favorite pastime is sitting out on his balcony in the evenings, with a good drink and a good smoke, and some music playing.

62: When he’s in a deeply committed relationship, he loves showing off his partner. He often likes to post risqué and suggested photos of himself and his boyfriend on his social media.

63: Salem is a man of very little patience. Don’t beat around the bush with him or waste his time because he will grow irritated and he will last out. If he wants a direct answer, give him one.

64: He takes every “medium” or “psychic” with a grain of salt. If he wants to be a dick, he’ll test them to see if they’re legit or not. The only ones he believes so far are the ones in his coven.

65: His turn-on’s include but aren’t limited to: masks/ski-masks, being stalked (consensually) by his intimidating boyfriend, and adrenaline fueled hookups in alleyways.

66: Salem keeps the bullets when he’s been shot at and has been hit, as little morbid tokens.

67: He’s attracted to men that share the same aesthetic and style as he does. When he used to date women, he was attracted to girls with styles/aesthetics opposite of his.

68: Salem is a slow-burn in every sense of the word. It takes time to truly get to know him and gain his trust. But when you do, he’s a ride or die friend for life.

69: He seemingly has a strange and long feud with a seagull named Terry. There is little to no explaining on who or what this seagull is—if it’s another shapeshifter or if it’s just some random bird dedicated to ruining Salem’s day. But it’s on sight and it’s almost as if he purposely shows up to antagonize Salem specifically. If you see a raven and a seagull scrapping it out in a parking lot—just keep walking, it doesn’t concern you.

Mal would purposefully commission food that acts as a calorie bomb, and specifically requests that it’s been in contact with someone who was a carrier/victim of whatever WG disease BT (Biotechnica) has in store, to have it carefully delivered to Adonis’s apartment. It could be any fruit or veggie, or even a baked good which is most likely. And Adonis would not be able to resist such a treat, and they would absolutely be unable to stop the inevitable.

Alternatively, Mal is the type of person to sneakily steal a coworker’s snacks when no one is looking. And said coworker would do a similar commission with a muffin to figure out who had been stealing it every day. Mal ends up strapped in her own apartment later that day because they suddenly can’t fit into the elevator as has to request help.

in the main universe she has nibbles! she doesn't really consider him a pet, he just comes around for food and shower drain water once in awhile. she's not really interested in having pets, she's also barely able to take care of herself so having another creature that's dependent on her in her life is a no-go.

in au: everybody wants to rule the world she has a pet rat called johnny 3 paws! (hollywood undead is her favourite band and their bass player is called johnny 3 tears + v changed her last name to scene, which is also the last name of their lead singer lmao)

j3p and her met when v was homeless! (again) when she picked a place to stay for the night he was already there and very adamant to defend his space. after fighting arguing for a bit he decided to let her stay and they shared a pizza! he decided to stay with her and once v got a place to stay (thanks vik!) he moved in with her.

now having pets is illegal in night city and for most people that would mean having a rat friend is difficult, not for v however! she managed to get her hands on a big cage and DIYs a lot of his toys and such. she knows a lot of people and even does gigs for dakota (someone mentions she grows her own melons so i imagine you can get other real fruit and stuff from her) to get her hands on some food for him.

j3p (or jpeg as viv likes to call him) was a biotechnica lab rat and while rats are already plenty smart he got something about him that makes him even smarter!

he and viv's nibbles are best friends! he often visits him and they even go on little adventures in the city.

Zayn is a fast healer, it's not like Wolverine or Deadpool level instant mutant shit, but he def recovers significantly faster than your average person. What might take like weeks for one person could take as little as a couple of days or single week for him. Averaging at about 50% faster, sometimes better. Depends on what it is/how much damage was done.

Being a lil biotechnica genetic experiment does have it's perks, ya know.

once valentina started getting more uppity and well known in night city ($$$$$), she was able to help joss pay off randy’s medical bills and also helped joss re-enroll randy into school so he could graduate (also because she’s extra, she has delamain pick up and drop off all the kutcher kids at their respective schools so joss can go to work without worrying about getting them to and from school!) :’) valentina loves river’s family so much and she wants to let them live normal lives again after what happened with randy because she still has nightmares (as does river) about what she saw on that farm, so she can only imagine how bad it must be for randy ❤️‍🩹

😭 CRYING - what makes them cry? do they cry easily? (venus)

it takes a lot to make venus cry tbh but the one thing that does make her cry is a cat, she loves cats SO much… she gets so emotional seeing cats on the street and likes to think in another life, she ran a rescue for kitties ☹️ so instead, while she was employed by arasaka, she would make a monthly donation to animal shelters around night city to help them with any surgeries or care they might need!!

she had a plushie her parents got for her before she was even born that she kept for most of her life and she took it with her EVERYWHEREEE truly one of her best friends... but when she moved out, she gave it to her grandmother for save keeping. but after her removal by arasaka, her whole family basically shunned her no matter how hard she tried to tell them otherwise, so even thinking about the small little pearlescent dragon brings back painful memories for her :(

vernon has a very mild temper, it takes a LOTTTTT to get him mad omg so definitely a slow boil!!

💧 DROPLET - random angst headcanon (vernon)

vernon is a nomad because he has basically lost every family he has known (his biological one, his adoptive one, etc.). vernon was given up for adoption as a baby by a couple who were unable to give him the life he deserved, so a close friend of his mother promised to raise him as their own. his nomad family was part of a small clan, removed from the seven nations that inhabit the NUSA and were located north were modern day vegas is. he grew up happy until he was about 18 when he was off working a seasonal job at some biotechnica plant, after the season was over, he returned to find his whole clan had basically been slaughtered, only a few members remained who were also returning from their seasonal jobs. so vernon and the remaining nomads gathered what they could of their family to honor them and eventually joined the bakkers which is where his story starts at the beginning of cyberpunk!!! (damn sorry for that long ass dissertation 💀)

Dagger will eat just about anything; worms, spiders, roadkill, human hearts. He’s bitten off the head of a live snake. He very seriously likes the taste of blood and it’s not unusual to see him adding it into his drinks or just having a sip by itself. That being said, his drink of choice is a fruit punch juice box.

He found his rat Cockroach locked away in an underground Biotechnica lab during a Raffen raid. Cockroach was the last surviving lab rat and Dagger decided to take him with him, burning the lab to the ground before he found or read the file explaining that the rat is a very expensive cybernetic hybrid with an impressive backlog of highly classified data hidden somewhere in his lil perfect head.

He has near perfect aim and precision. He made a show of this during his time in the circus, where he cultivated an array of entirely pointless skills such as: sword swallowing, unicycle riding, juggling, and self-impalement. Sometimes (often) all at once. He still practices all of this for fun, but some of his normal hobbies also include: sewing, knitting, magic tricks, painting, and carving (but you probably don’t want to see his artworks.)

He tries not sleep just about ever. More often than not, he’ll be on a three or four day drug binge trying to avoid it. He typically has very vivid and very bad dreams and he doesn’t like giving up control to them. He’ll go until he begrudgingly crashes, but it’s still one of his few fears.

He’s covered in scars because of a violent lifestyle, though many of them are self-inflicted. He believes that pain is a good thing and he tends to embrace it. He wears them all with pride and also with a sense of “you should see the other guy”. Some notable scars include the one on his cheek (earned when he was ambushed by a group of Raffen), a large M covering his torso (from his early days with Maelstrom), FUCK on his left bicep (home-made tattoo that scarred badly). He thinks scars and imperfections are beautiful.

OHHHHHH I HAVE BEEN EXCITED FOR THIS ONE. We're gonna call this Thanksgiving.... Because this turkey gonna be STUFFED!!!!!

1: Demons of War: Is there a job that has left a permanent mark on your OC?

It's hard to choose, there were a few that I really want to talk about that have left marks on Mara, but one outshines them all in leaving the BIGGEST scar on Mara.

In the timeline of Legends of Night City, Night Raid was contacted by Raj, their fixer from Charter Hill, Militech had reached out to him looking for a crew that would be willing to go into the inclusion zone, having NO such team, as most of his contacts had written him off as burned, the only ones he could ask was NR. Gordie, being the silly man he is, agree'd before the rest of the team could discuss what they were getting into. Not having a good feeling about this job, Mara made her prep for not making it out alive. There was far too much risk, and too much left in the air when it came to Militech to... and Pardon my french when i say to FUCK THEM. Which.... Surprisingly didn't happen. Yet..

Mara eloped with J I H Z Z Y just a few days before the gig, to allow them to enjoy a little marital bliss, or the closest they could get to a honeymoon with such money and time constraints. Re-wrote her will, splitting money between J I H Z Z Y and Jack, if she was to meet her demise while out on this job. Lazarus was CRAWLING all over city center and planned to move into the Inclusion zone. According to the NC54, who was doing a piece with Biotechnica, you could see Marcus in he background, packing more chrome than the first time they had met, when he chanced them all thru the NID.

This job s h o o k her to the core, everytime she thought about it.

So, This Gig required them to go into the inclusion zone, which was a 1 1/2 day walk following a Militech solo "L" setting up net access in for militech. On the way, they stopped at the safehouse of an old friend of L's. Upon investigating, she saw a picture of Chae-Rin, Mara's roommate, So.... If theres a picture of her, this must be.. Jago's (Jay-go) safehouse.... One of the first members of Night Raid who was beheaded before their very eyes by Tetsuo Okaada, one of Wakako's sons. Something told Mara there was more than "L" was letting on..

Once they get to the inclusion zone, they get a notification about a bounty is near by, and frankly, no one wanted to take on more of a load than they already had. Who even knew what that bounty would even be, and who they'd be meeting at the end of that bounty to cash in to. TBH TOO RISKY considering the political stance with Biotechnica & Lazarus, Petrochem & NIGHT RAID. It requires a whole lot of explaining that I don't think anyone is prepared to handle. However, its IMPORTANT for you to know. NR passes on the bounty and choose to just get straight to the job.

Let me tell you a job has never went so fucking FLAWLESS for NR.

Like I said, things were flawless for NR, they were leaving the area... when Token (@dezthefixer, she's no longer active sadly...she retired. rip queen) rolled horribly for stealth..... Even J I H Z Z Y who rolls the worse in the whole group for everything PASSED this stealth check. Let me tell you it was the worst time too because who starts deep scanning her? Marcus from Lazarus. By the time she was able to get out "RUN" Marcus jumps from his location and landed on the ground in front of the group. This is where I issue a content warning. Point of No Return

When Marcus lands, just a few feet in front of Token, he's holding the head of the beloved combat cab driver, Boris.

"Need a Cab, Desiree Yang?" He asks as he crushes the head before Token.

(Ya'll he was there from the beginning of Night Raid, He's helped them time and time again, this was devastating to the whole group.)

During combat with Marcus, it couldn't have gone better, except "L" the militech Solo was taking the brunt of Marcus's force. The group finds out that the two have history, that Marcus tried to hook up with L, and she turned him down.

When L is about to reach her limit, Mara runs in and passes a speedheal over to give her a second wind, to keep fighting, while the rest of the team weaken him as much as we can.

If anyone in Night Raid, besides Mara gets hit by Marcus at all, they are dead. If Mara dies, theres no hope of anyone being saved with the Cryopump.

Just before L rejoins the fight again, she begins her Plight.

“We’ve got him right where we want him, let’s finish him off. What ever happens, please don’t leave me behind. I would hate to see what the plant life would do” [this requires more explaonation about how things work on our universe. I’m just giving you the boiled down info, my husband or I will go more into depth later about the inclusion zone]

She stands up, and turns to Marcus.

“You know, I didn’t turn you down that night at Gamorrah because I was scared. I turned you down because I’m spoken for.”

“You can’t mean that “Solo rat” you ran around with in city center.”

“He’s not a rat, his name was Jago (Jay-Go) and he was my husband!”

A shock to everyone on the battlefield in this moment. Gotta understand, Jago was an OG member, he had a mainline, was warming up to Mara (before his death 💀) and now we’re being told the man was married TOO? How does he have the time for all these women and to make a living? (Oh right, two of those pretty women were work involved)

The fight between Marcus and L continues as the Borg’d corpo titans exchange blows, with what little you could see with both of their sandi’s going. The victor on top, was L. But just barely. Turning to the group, with a beautiful soft smile, beat black and bloody, hair clinging to the sides of her face from blood and sweat.

Behind her, dust was stirring everywhere and the sounds of fighting off in the distance could be heard, but they were far enough to not feel concerned, until they began to hear heavy metallic footsteps coming closer.

A hand reaches out of the dust cloud quickly and grabs L by the neck.

“I remember you, cunt.” He looks at L’s face just before crushing her neck severing her head from her body. Turning his attention back to NR, they had wasted no time in starting to run. They knew if Adam Smasher wanted them, they’d better get to running.

Though, he did want to know what Militech and a group of no-name mercs were doing in the inclusion zone, doing a job he was sent to do. It wasn’t badly enough to be something he had to do himself, sending his small team to handle catching them.

Though, they had failed to do so, Mara and Gordie quickly took care of those in in pursuit, and made the collective decision to hurry to the roof, where a Militech AV would be waiting.

Something in every fiber of My being said “we need to wait a minute” but Mara was just wanting to get out asap.

That feeling was correct, because as NR is being EVAC'd out in an AV & Flying over the inclusion zone, she gets a message from her brother Jayce saying "Wheres Jack? I know he's with you. His ping says he went in the building you just went in."

Mara is confused, how does Jayce know where she's at exactly? He knew she was going to City Center, but not where she would be? And Why would Jack be in City Center?

A wave of panic overcomes Mara, as she becomes visibly panicked in front of her team, the most shaken they've ever seen her. Trying to figure out whats going on, Mara is frantically calling and messaging Jack & Jayce.

Jayce isn't answering.

Jack... Answers a message, and says he made a mistake, he hears them coming, he tells her he loves her if anything was to happen to him.

At this point, Mara is ready to bust down the door of the AV and jump out to get to Jack. She gets a message from Jayce saying he's got Jack and is heading to Medcenter, meet him there.

Pushing herself in overdrive, she rushes to Medcenter. She's 2 days with very little sleep, exhausted from the last 3 days being hell.

When she arrives at Medcenter, Mara sat in a private waiting room, courtesy of her Sister in law Emma. Where she was able to close her eyes for an hour or so. Until the doctors came in and informed her that Jack was stablizing now, but he had most of his body replaced with Cyberware, because he was mauled very badly.

Getting to Jack's side, the two start discussing what happened, why he was there.

Jack had been working as a merc after he'd figured out what she was doing. He wanted to be strong enough to protect her. So he followed her, and he had no idea about the Biotechnica cybernetic mountain lion chimera lurking in the area, which had gotten the advantage over him.

After, he begins to ask Mara about why she felt the need to become a merc to begin with? Why wouldn't she just tell him what was going on?

That's when Mara breaks down, crying, confessing how things had gotten out of hand. She'd only started being a merc to make ends meet with the Clinic, how on her 3rd gig, she should have gotten the hint when their solo was beheaded before her eyes, but she didn't because the next gig she had a killswitch put on her by a rogue a.i and she has no choice at this point to keep going.

And thats when he asks.... When the killswitch is off.... Will you stop then?

The rooms air felt suffocating, as she tells him she has no choice but to report for Duty at MAXTAC, to work under Jayce.

The answer was too much for Jack to bare, his humanity took a hit when he had all that cyberware installed on top of the trauma of what happened being fresh, caused him to slip into Cyberpsychosis.

Mara was gone. Who was in front of him, he couldn't be sure who is was, but he knows it wasn't Mars.

When the hospital room lights change to red, there is an alert that starts going off to inform that a patient is going Cyberpyscho, and MAXTAC was already in the building, so they wasted no time getting to the room.

Mara, pleading Jack to stay on this side of sanity, she's grabbing his arms forcing him to look at her, saying:

Stop, please stop!! They'll take you, they'll take you-

"I'm already gone, Mars." and Jack lunges at the C-Swat team now pouring into the room.

Just as she was about to throw everything she'd built away to keep Jack Adams on this side of sanity, she was going to tell him she loved him, and would do whatever it took. But she never got the chance. He was killed in front of her.

Her humanity dropped from 31 to 1. She was immediately knocked out and detained. Where she spent the night in Maxtac holding cells after watching her best friend and love of her life murdered before her.

How did all this impact Mara?

-Well, Mara suffers from trait she can never kick from her Psychosis. She will never be able to accept responsibility for what happened to Jack.

-Mara lost her clinic A.I JOI, because Jack had taken her with him to City center, and she was damaged. Because she wasn't registered to a legitimate clinic, she wasn't able to be restored.

-She's left alone to try and run and manage a clinic that was falling apart.

-She MAY OR MAY NOT have painted a black mark on her new marriage with her Rockerboy J I H Z Z Y, because of her inability to let Jack go.

Those are just a few examples of the impact this one job took on her. Im sorry this was so long on this one thing. but I did promise to get into the meat and potatoes about this gig.

2: Lt. Mower: What is the worst betrayal your OC has faced?

The worst one Mara has ever faced.. Depending on the timeline.

LoNC- Mara was dating this guy she worked with on Trauma team(worked on another flight crew), who cheated on her with their boss... in the locker room showers... in front of Mara's whole crew.

Water on Mars- Jago and Mara had been seeing each other, he was making it very clear he wanted something more than them just stuffing it. He wanted to Mainline, He'd been making steps to clean up his life so he could give it an honest shot with her.

While, Mara is very tennative about commitment, she was receptive to the idea, but wanted to wait a bit.. She didn't want to commit and it blow up in her face. She knew he had a Wife, well he said Ex-wife as he was making steps towards divorce, she knew his life was complicated, and so was hers.

Agreeing to keep seeing each other to work on something real together, Mara was interrupted with her brother at the door, Jayce. See, Jayce and Jago have a long history, and the two hate each other.

Mara had just talked Jago into striking a deal with ODESSA, he works for them until the job is complete and they leave him alone to live in Dogtown, he can come for work, but never for leisure.

Throwing her whole reputation on the line with Titus & Jayce. Shit, she even threw her relationship with Titus away to save Jago.

& a few weeks later, he's ghosting her, and she finds out he's working for Militech, he's defected to be with his Ex-wife.

Though, it isn't until later that Mara learns it was all Jayces idea to have Jago infiltrate Militech.

Yes, Mara loves reality shows, she loves the drama. However, she couldn't ever be on one, not that she'd ever want all those eyes looking at her all the time.

Bite My Shiny Metal Ass (Kou's body lore dump)

As a disclaimer, back in the days when I started working on Kou’s post-canon story, I decided not to stick with canon in terms of technologies. I bought this ‘we can’t find a donor for you’ thing and built everything around her getting a full-metal body, yet, I needed her to be capable of certain things (read: to get laid without plugging cables in 100500 ports) so I basically made her an artificial human instead of traditional fullborg. New-gen borg it is! So if something of my ‘tech’ contradicts the canon, it’s because I decided not to limit myself by sticking with it.

So, the body. I headcanon that long ago along with developing relic technology Arasaka also started working on creating a perfect fake human body. First, because it’d make a relic tech more salable: you don’t need to care about finding a proper donor, so you could get those clients who don’t have blood related relatives or actually care about them (yes, Saburo, it is a dick for YOUR summer hat). Second, the tech basically consists of the three major parts — the body itself, the digital 'soul', and the code which make it all work together — and since all three would be Arasaka’s property it’d make such clients totally dependent on the corporation. 

They advanced fast with the code and chrome parts but were stuck with one issue: the engrama still needed an old good meat brain to parasite into, and no matter how they tried, they couldn't crack brain cloning. So, they made someone else do the work for them. 

After the game events Biotechnica went against the Soulkiller tech, claiming it unethical, and decided to cut their piece of the new market by providing 'morally correct' full cloned bodies for engrammas to claim. They were successful but they didn’t last long enough to taste the fruit of their labor: in the final stages of testing their facility in Brazil was raided, and brain-cloning tech was stolen. It caused Biotechnica’s collapse, and a lot of their technologies ended up in the free market. Brain cloning, though, was kept by Arasaka for themselves.

Early prototypes of new-gen borgs were quite… straightforward, and basically they were just nicely looking human shaped pieces of chrome. First tests showed insane rates of cyberpsychosis cases, so to make it salable, they had to advance both chrome and code further, creating a body capable of perfectly imitating organic processes. It worked, but the code was too complicated for meat brains to process, so the body’s passengers should’ve either gone through the long and unpleasant process of learning how to do it themselves or to rely on Arasaka’s satellite support system for the rest of their lives. 

So, when it came to bringing Kou’s back to life, they had it all well tested, yet there was a challenge, as well. 

The thing is she was put in her shelf in Mikoshi without plans of resurrecting her: they tried, tho, first with finding a donor, then with a borg way, but her DNA samples were no good for growing a healthy cell colony. However there was an opportunity, that with a clean sample of Johnny’s DNA, they would be able to get all the ‘trash’ out, and eventually the sample was delivered. (This part was created before I found out that there is a story behind real Johnny’s body and shit, so I stick to the oil field grave thing here)

But why spend so much money and effort on some mercenary whose biggest strength was in slicing people left and right? Kou’s aint a big brain netrunner after all, and all her skills were gone, wasted with the muscle memory of her original body. Obligation to nobody trash girl obviously wasn’t a thing that bothered Saburo much. Kou would’ve stayed on her shelf forever, if not for her allies.

Hanako Arasaka was introduced by the plan and managed to support it in front of her Father: Kou will be brought back, but not as a charity. She’d be in debt of Arasaka who’d owned both her body and soul, and would have to work this debt out as their agent. Everyone involved understood that such debts could not ever be worked out (you always can add some more to it, charing Kou for fixing broken parts, you know), but it was better than nothing, and the person behind the project idea promised to make sure that Kou would eventually agree to these terms.

They had another plan in their mind, but nobody should’ve known about this.

Back to the chrome! Till then Arasaka was producing only 'civil' bodies, because most of the SYS participants were rich people, they simply didn't need battle implants and software. But Arasaka agents were another story, they needed to be capable, yet they should've been sane enough to solve problems more complicated than ‘go and kill everyone’. So, they’ve made some changes.

I.e. Kou’s realskin is more dense then the common one, yet it’s so high quality you can’t distinguish it from human flesh my touch. (I HC tho, there are some hints, like her skin barely holds smell on it, doesn't change its color when she’s supposed to blush or get pale etc). But even with this update she needs to wear armor and subdermal implants because it turned out that being able to bleed is an essential part of staying ‘human’. She also have her legs augmented for jumping and keeping the balance; her reflexes are boosted to insanely high speed, she’s got a chrome spine to carry her frame (she weights fairly lot), a flagman cyberdeck (which is laughable because her netrunning skill are joke), optic and, of course, blades — and lots and lots new lines of code to make it all operating together.

The body itself is a very complicated tech, whose first goal is to pretend to be real. It doesn’t mean that she has all body systems duplicated as they’re in the human body, but her ‘organs’ serve the same goal. I.e. her ‘liver’ doesn’t look like a liver, it’s a system of sensors and filters that keeps the body clean. Her digestive system is a combo of ‘battery’ and ‘human guts’: she needs calories to keep her meat brain alive but doesn't really need to eat, technically, but eating helps her to stay sane. Yeah, this poor borg girl still has to poop. I’m so sorry, baby.

Of course, this fine piece of tech wasn’t given her on pure trust basis, and even tho she had no choice but to agree with her contract terms, her supervisor, the person who came up with idea to bring her back as ‘saka agent, got granted the access codes that could let them interfere in her processes or even cut her off the satellite support, making her body just a pile of dead metal.

Ah well, did I mention it was Goro?

He never abused it though, even when she tried to kill him, he broke both of her arms to stop her instead of using the magic button. I mean, it would be hella disrespectful to treat her as she's a machine, and Goro is not like this, right? xD Later, after their escape, Kou got her codes changed first with her fixer team, then, once again, in Night City. After that she gave new codes to Goro, just in case. He never abused them then, either.

So, one last topic to cover is THE LOOK. When I was creating the story I was living with the idea that ‘saka didn’t care about Kou’s appearance even barely resembling her old one, so they just took a standard body made for the inner market for her. But when I created her in her new body in game she turned out to be crazily pretty. So, I have altered my story a bit: since she’s supposed to be a corporation property she should've looked accordingly, so they designed her frame and face to be an Arisaka cover girl.

Goro kept as much distance from the process of her creation as he could, but he had to interfere once. Arasaka, of course, installed its own optic into Kou’s eye sockets, but on his last visit to Night City Goro’s got “Kiroshi” with Kou’s favorite lenses integrated. Vik gave them to him in exchange of the promise that when she’s back to life she’d be looking on the world through her own eyes. This is the episode he isn’t proud about, because he basically had to psychology crash the medtech for them to change her optics and to erase all the data about it from the databases. This really wasn’t cool (because it was fukking HOT).

And, of course, as anyone with such an amount of chrome Kou's balancing on the verge of cyebrpsycosys. She, basically, has it, but mostly in remission, yet if she stops caring about 'body maintenance (aka skipping meals, abusing sleeping system, or even killing way to much people) she's at risk of having cyberpsycitic strikes. They usually come as auto-aggression and are shaped in attempts to get rid of human likeness 'because we all know who I really am". But gladly, since she still has something (someone) to care about she always gets back to her normal state and her 'stupid routine'.

Timid first steps

Timeline 20151 - Protagonist : V Temarii

V called Mr. Hands the next day. Hangover as hell, he was too tired to silence Johnny anymore. He heard him more than he listened. Something about Mikoshi. Something about Rogue. V noticed Johnny seemed less aggressive now that he acknowledged his presence, acknowledged he too didn't like the current situation. His objective to meet with the Voodoo Boys ajourned, V accepted his idea to meet Rogue, who led them to Panam.

Going back to the Badlands helped V change his mind, especially with Panam's fiery personality. She wasn't home, but reminded him of his. His old life roaming ghost roads. If he listened closely in the quietness of the night, he could almost hear his sister's laughter.

V tolerated Johnny on the trip, even entertained a conversation. The engram had wasted an opportunity to end him after what had transpired with Evelyn. He had actually listened, and had left V alone. V gave him a second chance, telling himself he'd still remain careful around Johnny. A concept that quickly died down. "You alright?" he asked the second Johnny showed he was in pain after the assault on the EMP tower. Panam answered, and Johnny disappeared before his host's hand could reach him.

Hellman's diagnosis shocked V. Too far gone already, he realized how slim his chances at survival were now. Becoming someone else, a frightening scenario. Though he realized Johnny was affected as well. He didn't ask which memories the engram had seen, but knew he must've seen part of his childhood. The good parts. That farm his family owned, or rather rented from Biotechnica. Why else would he bring that up to rile V up? Except it didn't, V didn't buy his excuse at being angry at the world, the current world. A world that had moved on from ideals to focus on reality, a world in which you had to make concessions to stay alive. V's opinion only angered Johnny more, spewing threats again suddenly. The merc was quick to down some blockers, reminding himself to keep the engram on a tighter leash.

Archived Conversation: Muamar 'El Capitan' Reyes and Vega 'V' Howse, May 2079

Introducing Vega Howse, known to Night City as V. After vanishing during a raid on Arasaka Tower for two years, she has suddenly returned to Night City. Problem is, this isn't the same V that walked into Arasaka Tower on that fateful May day.

Alt's plan did not go as well as hoped. As soon as she penetrated Mikoshi and seized control of Soulkiller, Mikoshi came apart quicker than she was expecting. Forced by Mikoshi coming apart around her, risking Alt being damaged, she acted quickly, but not quickly enough to separate Johnny and V's personalities from the engram.

She fused them instead, but before she could return it to V's body, or take it with her beyond the Blackwall, her connection was severed, and the new engram was cast adrift into the deepest parts of cyberspace. The new engram was not conscious of what happened, and neither were V or Johnny. After what would've felt like a few minutes, but what was closer to a few years, the engram, controlled by a desire to return to meatspace, found a hole in a corporate data fortress.

Biotechnica had constructed the means to clone humans on a large scale. In collaboration with Arasaka, they used technology developed for the Relic to produce an army of clone soldiers for the inevitable next corporate war. The brains of the clones functioned as a blank receptacle for a default personality with military programming, far quicker and more efficient than having to train an army of recruits.

When the engram broke into the subnet, it functioned like a virus, taking over a cloning vat and replacing the genetic sequence programmed into it with the genetic data of V included in the engram (due to integration with the Relic). However, the fusing of the two engrams resulted in overwritten data. The clone is more accurately a combination of Johnny and V's genetic data.

As Vega grows in consciousness and gains new skills and experience, she will gradually subsume and eventually overwrite both the original V and Johnny alike. It is a slow, impending death of personality for both, a grim ending, all things considered. However, they both have the unique and powerful ability to influence Vega as she learns who she is. For all intents and purposes, she is V, but she’s also Johnny, and at the same time, her own person.

Together, they are a chorus, assembled by fate and the unfortunate truth of life in 2077: there are no true happy endings in Night City. V gets to live, but also the original V will soon fade from existence, as will Johnny; however, they will never truly fade away.

Claire: "You never used to drink that much. Why the sudden change?" V: (very drunk) "It makes the dead terrorist in my head shut up for a while!" Claire: "Oookay... another one?" V: "Fuck yes, this is the most quiet I've had in my head in two years!"

Random Yorinobu headcanons that no one but me asked for

(these are just my personal interpretations of his character, if you disagree that’s fine just don't be a dick about it!)

Lactose intolerant, but chooses to ignore it and chugs down milk products like there’s no tomorrow (and then complains about his tummy hurting.)

Has ink from his gangoon days, mostly irezumi sleeves on both arms. Although they pay tribute to his loved ones (I imagine he has a flower somewhere for Hanako and a dragon for his gang), they were partly done to piss off Saburo and to be ~edgy~, because the old man had (and probably still has) the old school "tattoo = criminal" mentality.

Judging by that picture of him as a little child, he probably had some sort of (hereditary) vision problems since he was a kid, but as he grew up into a teenager, he only wore contacts because he didn’t want to look like a dork. However, he eventually ditched them for his glasses out of comfort.

A huge car and bike enthusiast, and not only in a “rich guy who brags about having 50 Bugattis” type of way. He’s genuinely interested in vehicles and how they work, and learnt how to fix and customize them during his time in the Steel Dragons. Nowadays, he’s too busy to spend all of his time tinkering with bikes, but that doesn’t stop him from still appreciating the hobby.

Has a sort of messed up relationship with his physical appearance, but not due to low self esteem or whatever (although he’s probably struggled with that too). Yorinobu is basically his father’s twin, and knowing how bad their relationship is and that Saburo probably sort of abused him emotionally and mentally, it must have taken a toll to look like the man he comes to despise.

Tabloid darling. Not only did he feed them with his departure and feud with his father and brother, but even after Yori came back and was supposedly welcomed into the company, he didn't stop being a PR nightmare for their publicists, from a few DUI incidents to a messy breakup with the daughter of some Biotechnica board member, among other disasters.

In a similar vein as the last headcanon, at one point there must have been plans for a Real Housewives-style reality about the inner workings and personal lives of the Arasakas and their inner circles, with Yorinobu being really on board with it. However, the show was cancelled after its producers and director were mysteriously found dead, with their passings officially ruled as a suicide.

While probably having had a sheltered upbringing, according to lore he was allowed to study in outside schools. I don't think that he was a huge sports fan, but he did take a liking to soccer/football and also took up kyudo since Saburo wanted him to do something more traditional.

This one is ~ personal ~ but he's probably on the autism spectrum and actually struggled a lot with it, even more than the usual given how rigid the environment he grew up and spent part of his youth was. He likely only got diagnosed when he was way older and didn't even know that it was a possibility.
