All your voice casts are wrong
Bionicles talk like they are holding onto their masks with their mouth
It's all completely unintelligible to anyone but them
They are drooling constantly with their open mouth holding onto the mask for their dear life

Even less of a fun answer: the Red Star only resurrects individuals that died within the Matoran Universe (as in, inside GSR, not on top of its surface), and since Jaller died on Kini Nui, his is a one-way ticket into matoran afterlife as far as the Red Star is concerned. I would add that Jaller's original body might be buried somewhere on Mata Nui the island, but that got shattered in 2008...
Takanuva is less clean cut, as we have contradicting narratives as to whether or not he actually died, let alone whether the Beyond-the-door-of-Mangaia counts as sufficiently inside the Matoran Universe.
As cool as it would be to see double versions of Jaller and Takanuva, I think zombie Lhikan is as far as Greg's canon goes
So canonically, Jaller died & was resurrected by Takutanuva. Also, depending on whether you take the Mask of Light movie or the Story Bible as canon, Takanuva *also* died & was resurrected from his mask.
The Red Star space station *also* resurrects people in the Matoran Universe. (Their teleport broke & they couldn't send them back; the respawned folks are all stuck up there.)
So, what if the Red Star *also* resurrected Jaller & Takanuva? And there are two of each of them?
Who would win a Kolhii match??
I'm inclined to think that canonically there aren't two Jallers since Greg hinted before the Red Star reveal that the upcoming story would explain Jaller's resurrection. So either Jaller was resurrected on the star and Takutanuva teleported him back, or Jaller's body hadn't been reanimated yet and Takutanuva both teleported it and resurrected it (the wiki seems to imply the latter since it discusses Takutanuva's life force being used.)
However I know that's not the fun answer, so.... well. Let's say there are two of each. The Jaller on the Red Star is presumably still a Matoran, while the main one is a Toa. And the Takanuva on the Star got squashed by a door and resurrected by people with limited resources, so he's probably not in great shape. Not a very long game of Kolhii is what I'm saying.

Ok can we stop talking about the "gymbo inika were the reason love isn't canon"when there's stuff in the prototype plans that are far more insane and interesting including (but not limited to)
One of the earliest concepts for 06 was set in Mata nui where Toa nuva fought the morally gray Toa Rahna, who served as a more negative reflection of Toa. A major theme for this idea was exploring if toa could be evil.
While 08 always had bat themed villains, initially 08 was supposed to have army builder mooks instead of BoM Makuta. Also originally 08s villains were supposed to be Karda nui natives
That said, Makuta as a species and Brotherhood of Makuta were planned to by the story team as early as 2004, and were already considered to be the villains of 08. Though by this time only the titan sets.
There's at least two different concepts for aquatic villains that vastly differ from the Barraki. One of them were soldiers that were possibly army-builder villains, while the others were traders who weren't necessarily evil(?) Regardless both of them very were starkly different to the Barraki in canon, thoguh the soldier concept is far more align to with what we ended up getting.
The Piraka we know and love(?) seem to be a fusion of the two prototype concepts of 06 villains: A greedy brigand species who terrorize the locals called Hagalakh and the aforementioned Toa Rahna. The Piraka took the aesthetics/lore/culture of the Hagalakh and the "anti-toa team/ group of six individuals who served as evil disorted version of toa" concept from toa Rahna.
In the concept with the Hagalakh as 06's antagonists, their goal was to wake up Tren Krom who was supposed to be the final boss. Tren Krom in this version was supposed to be a dead giant whose corpse hosts a temple and the treasures the villains seek.
In some of the plans the hunt for mask of life started in 07, not 06. 06 instead had a different goal that depended on which version of the story plans wer'e talking about
Some plans had the toa Inika/Mahri be the main team for all three years, while some plans had the team change every year. The plan
Some of the plans indicate the "Matorans" were meant to be different species of beneveloent creatures, as they used different title than Matoran to describe them. These include the Rana and the Ihoian, though the Rana may have been Matoran
Lot of plans had the titan sets be either Rahi, or at least, other Rahi-like creatures and beasts. Many of 06 and 07s concepts had these beasts be protectors for sacred locations or the Mask of Life.
There were plans for character titans. One of the Haglak/TK concepts had the leader of Haglaks, Torak, while one of the prototype Barraki were meant to have their leader be a titan set
06 was designed a shakeup that would revitalized the brand by addressing major flaws the storyteam felt prevented new kids getting hooked. One of the bigger roadblocks was the lack of a main protagonist. This was corrected by introducing a new Matoran protagonist with a connection to Mask of Life who would act as the centerpiece of the Ignition trilogy and eventually become a Toa.
At the end of 06 the Toa of Fire (Jaller??) was supposed to die and be replaced by the aforementioned Matoran protagonist as the toa of fire
Mazeka was the name of a corridor in 06 plans
Takanuva was supposed to use Mask of Life at some point
Toa Mahri were called Toa Awkwa at one point

Macku and Hewkii running through Ga-Koro's beach 🧡💙
Tumblr media
This one is a fanart I made back in 2021. You might also notice the shaky coloring and that's because back then I had just taken off my cast after healing from an elbow fracture and was still recovering from said fracture's surgery 😂
I found no better way to celebrate my recovering than by drawing these sweethearts in a kinda Bohrok Online Animations style 💙🧡

MOTARA, toa Mangai of stone (6/11)
A stubborn and proud hero, Motara busies herself on the edges of the city, much preferring simple, challenging tasks. Often absent from ceremonies and public gatherings, Motara is most comfortable on the warpath, braving the dusty outskirts to locate missing matoran or track down shadowy neerdowells.
Motara wears the great Garai, mask of gravity, and wields a Granite Hook which she uses as a walking stick on her long walks beneath Metru Nui's twin suns.

Metru Nui Archives data log 35494: Cordak Blaster Prototype
Log author: Chief Archivist Etoku
I am prefacing this data log with a reminder to the Kehrex Weapons Company that the Archives is not seeking a corporate sponsor, and that any attempts to convince us, or any other Metruan organisation, to convert to your philosophy of "capitalism" will not succeed, no matter how many "rare" prototype weapons you send us (if you wanted us to believe they were rare, you shouldn't have sent so many).
With that out of the way, let's talk about what our... magnanimous would-be benefactors thought was worth shipping all the way from Xia, starting with a bit of preamble about the history of Cordak Blasters.
The Cordak Blaster is a rotary-barrel, muzzle-loaded missile launcher, and one of the most widely used vehicle-mounted weapons in the universe, though beings with enough strength (or under other conditions that make things lighter such as being underwater or within the radius of a Toa of Gravity's powers) can also carry them as handheld weapons.
The Blasters work by using a reciprocating motor to drive a pump that pushes compressed air into the top barrel, propelling the missile (or "mini-rocket", as they are commonly known) forwards, while also triggering a mechanism that rotates the barrels through 60°, readying the next shot. Meanwhile, the missile's inbuilt propulsion system activates, and it travels in a roughly straight line before usually hitting its mark. This process takes such a short time that Cordak Blasters can fire rapidly, though their low ammunition capacity can be an issue.
As you can guess from its… unusual firing method, the Cordak Blaster was first conceptualised by the Vortixx of Xia during their industrial revolution. They were sold to military commanders and rulers on other islands, most of whom proceeded to resell theirs elsewhere.
The ammunition is surprisingly stable, and can be safely stored upon a being's armour with little to no fear of detonation. It's also worth noting that any object with a similar diameter to the barrels of a Cordak Blaster can also be fired by one, though it won't go far without any additional propulsion.
Along with the standard version, there's also a much larger variant, the "Nui Cordak", designed for mounting on warships and other large vehicles, and a smaller, cheaper variant known as the Firework Revolver, which is said to have been developed in collaboration with the legendary Nynrah Ghosts (though this could just be a fabrication for marketing purposes).
The weapon's name is derived from the Toa Cordak, a Toa Team who are most well-known for being disintegrated by Zyglak, to the point that, according to my more... outgoing colleagues, the word "Cordak" has come to be used as a colloquial synonym for desolation. Prior to the unfortunate demise of the Toa Cordak, they were referred to as simply "Revolving Blasters", and you can tell the age of a Cordak Blaster by whether the name on the side is prefaced with the word "Cordak".
Now then, let's get onto the topic at hand. This prototype Cordak Blaster looks and functions vastly differently than the final version.
To start with the least notable change, the pumping mechanism is an external unit, connected via thick, translucent hoses to the back of the weapon. The hoses would presumably have been a major weak-point, and the pump is about as large and as heavy as a regular Cordak Blaster.
But where things get interesting are with the weapon itself, as well as its ammunition. Rather than a rotary design that allows for rapid firing, the prototype Blaster instead uses a gravity-fed loading system, drawing from a box-magazine that clips onto the top, and fires from a single, rather bulky barrel.
The overall form-factor, air-pump aside, is much smaller, built into a gauntlet that is sized for most classes of Toa. The Matoran over in the Weapons Testing complex managed to get it to work by attaching it to an ancient artificial Toa arm from the Level 2 Prosthetics & Implants gallery, then controlling the arm using a machine that Archivists Nuparu and Mavrah designed for this exact purpose.
What this testing showed was how the prototype missiles worked; painted entirely yellow, they were cylindrical, rather than the thin, flared shape and red colouration of the final missile designs, and seemed to be made out of solid metallic protodermis. Rather than exploding on impact, they instead functioned similarly to traditional projectile weapons such as Kanoka, impacting the target with a large amount of physical force; all but one of the targets that the weapons-testers had set up were destroyed by the Blaster, with the remaining one gained a large dent in its torso-piece when the aiming system of the testing arm glitched.
Since Kehrex provided us with a hundred crates of ammunition (each crate contains seven magazines, for a total of exactly two-thousand eight-hundred projectiles) and twenty Blasters, I got the weapon testers to try loading the prototype projectiles into the final design and vice-versa, and the results were. Interesting.
Test 1 resulted in the projectiles loudly falling to the testing-chamber floor, due to the lack of additional propulsion. Rather disappointing, but to be expected. However, Test 2 was far more interesting; while the Blaster itself was damaged, the rockets fired as standard, albeit with a far higher initial launch velocity. I requested that the damaged blaster be put on display next to the intact versions, with an explanation of what happened to it, and that only one of the intact blasters be displayed; the rest will go into storage, along with the remaining ammunition.
Personally I believe these will be quite popular with visitors, though I doubt this will cause Kehrex to cease their attempts at buying our attention.
Artifact information:
Categories: Inanimate, Weapon
Current location: Level 3, Weapons gallery.
End of log.
Addendum by Surgical Director Gogot: Hey boss you should of just asked me what toa types it fits. You're office is literally like five doors from the dissection lab. For the record, its only compatible with the arm structures of class-2 toa, as they are the ones who were active during the creation of this weapon.

It is kind of funny that of the 14 truly canon Makuta who show up in the story, the Makuta of Stelt is such a nonentity they don't even get a name.
I mean I guess that leaves a lot of room for fan ideas
Personally, given that Stelt is the only truly aristocratic society we see in the MU (the Barraki's holdings where called kingdoms, but given that they're constantly referred to as warlords, there probably wasn't an aristocratic upper class present in whatever governments they had), and that, being a post-usurpation member of the Brotherhood, he was definitely mingling with and influencing that upper echelon.
He's also cowardly and probably wasn't a member of Teridax's inner circle of sorts. I personally view him as sort of a floozy socialite type. Like in a human setting, he'd be at all of those high-society functions, wearing a revealing cocktail dress and being perpetually drunk on champagne. So the Matoran Universe equivalent of that. Do they even have alcohol in the MU? Or something close?
Rahi-wise, given that he's livin' it up with the bourgeoisie, he probably made like, the rahi equivalent of purse dogs, or teacup versions of other rahi species, like teacup dogs in our world.
So that's my thoughts on the Makuta of Stelt, this guy really needs a name, anyone got any ideas? I'm kind of bad at coming up with names so I'm dry.

My dumb complaint about Mask of Light is that we didn’t get any cute Hewkii/Macku moments. I appreciate the adorableness we got with Jaller/Hahli, but the absolute disrespect to the og bionicle couple :c
I feel like it would have been so easy to include something too?
That part when Guurahk is tearing apart Ta-Koro and we see the two ta-matoran huddled together inside the hut? Could have been Hewkii and Macku. Or that part when they’re all fleeing Ta-Koro across the bridge and Macku is holding hands with that random ta-matoran? Could have been Hewkii holding her hand. Even just like, having them in the background comforting each other after Ta-Koro was destroyed.
I realize this is a dumb thing to complain about but it’s been 20 years and I’m still salty about it hELP.

How about some Jaller/Hahli fluff- maybe as Inika or Mahri, since we saw less of them being affectionate during those arcs?
"Hey there, leader," he heard from behind closed eyes. "Enjoying the moment of repose?"
Jaller hummed some kind of answer.
Hahli flicked her fins to make their shadows fall over his mask, watching him squirm at the change of temperature.
"Work doesn't stop just because you do, you know."
"It should," he replied deadpan.
"What was that? Refusing to do your job? Takanuva, what did we say about using your powers to impersonate others?"
"Only when it's funny."
"Urgh. It sounds so weird when you say it."
"Ha-ha."
She sat heavily, laying down next to him. The clouds were few and far between, but still shielded them from the sun's sweltering midday heat; they carved long strips of white and grey across the sky.
Their fingers clashed and tangled as they reached towards each other at the same time, and they struggled to pull them apart without looking. They remained still for a moment more, a little embarrassed at their fumbling.
Hahli laid her hand on its back, palm pointed upwards, and Jaller carefully wrapped his own around it (it was slightly thinner than hers, slightly smoother from the volcanic ash, with slightly softer angles); they squeezed each other gently in their grasps as they enjoyed the peace and quiet, the warm breeze, the humid scent of flowers wafting from the new shores on which another Ga-Koro was in the midst of being rebuilt, feeling as small in this new peaceful world as Matoran who just fought off a Bohrok invasion.
"We could stay like this," he whispered very softly, craning his neck towards her, and she felt his voice as though their naked faces were mere millimeters from one another. "For a little bit longer, at least."
She hummed some kind of answer and did not let go.
