ernesto de la cruz had always aspired to be a musician, sharing this dream with his childhood best friend, hector. the two worked and learned together and eventually found a symbiotic relationship. hector was best at writing the music and ernesto was best at playing it, as well as charming the audience.

the two would grow up to have a more professional relationship. they would travel throughout mexico and perform, writing new songs as they went along. and, during these trips, the two of them would two women to fall in love with.

while ernesto was completely fine with leaving his growing family at home while he went on his tours, hector was beginning to focus more and more on staying home. if hector chose his family over touring with ernesto, then ernesto would be left with no new music and everyone would know that he wouldn’t have been the one behind the songs he performed.

in a blind state of rage, ernesto decided to poison hector. if hector wasn’t around, then he could never reveal the true origins of their songs. ernesto stole the remaining songs that hector had created and continued playing a solo act throughout the country.

he would continue to grow in fame, becoming the face of mexican pride and starring in films. but, with fame came temptation. he started to see one of his dancers, often sneaking off to see her whenever he was home. it would be a night of seeking her out that would mark the end of his family.

he would never forget the night he’d gotten the news and ran home, the flames taking everything without mercy. he’d fall to his knees and weep for his lost loved ones, genuine sorrow engulfing him just as the fire brought down the house. that night would be the start of the subtle downfall of ernesto de la cruz.

with the hole in his heart, he struggled to keep up his performances. and, as if fate hadn’t taken enough from him, his life was then taken as well. he would end up in the land of the dead where he was still greatly revered. he would continue to perform there and keep up his appearance. he knew his daughters and wife were there as well, but he was almost afraid to see them. still, he would try to connect with his daughters at the very least.

ernesto’s fame would continue for many years until miguel appeared, revealing to all that ernesto had lied about creating his own songs. he would be pulled from his pedestal and mocked. fallen from grace, ernesto knew it was only a matter of time until he was completely forgotten by everyone. and then, he would fade away.

My interpretation of Gloria and Luisa's bio family. I've named their parents Heraclio and Inés. Gloria is about 15 here, and Luisa is around 9. I'd like to take this moment to remind everyone that Gloria and Luisa are canonically sisters, and the family tree in the novelization has a typo on it.

Heraclio gets along famously with the Riveras, and he and Franco have loud conversations filled with laughing. I haven't decided what he does for a living yet. Gloria and Luisa are very close to him, and he always did his best to spoil them while they were growing up. He let Gloria's relationship with Berto develop naturally, occasionally teasing her about whether she was actually after him for the shoes (her greatest material love). When Gloria and Berto got engaged, it led to Luisa meeting Enrique. Heraclio immediately liked Enrique and kept encouraging Luisa to get to know him. He was their first shipper. He visits the zapatería frequently and loves being an abuelo.

Inés is a very different story. She does not like Elena at all, and resents the fact that the Riveras claimed both her daughters. She competes with Elena for the grandkids' affections, and has had her best success with Miguel. She's the one who introduced Miguel to Ernesto de la Cruz. She had a specific reason for doing this. Her father, Marco, is one of de la Cruz's many illegitimate offspring. He hid that part of his family tree from his children for a long time. But Inés found out. She had always been obsessed with the idea of fame, and wanted to move to Hollywood to be an actress. But she was always passed over in school for major roles in plays, and eventually gave up on her acting dream. When she learned that her grandfather was the famous Ernesto de la Cruz, she was furious with her father for not telling her. She blamed him for her shortcomings as an actress, claiming that if she had known, she could've used that inspiration (and possible leverage) to land the roles she wanted. She could've become as famous as her abuelo. Basically, she completely justified Marco's reasons for concealing his family line. But their relationship was damaged from that point on. Inés never cut her father off, and he was much beloved by his grandchildren (especially Luisa). But things remained prickly between them until Marco's death. Inés' link to de la Cruz is the main reason she disapproved of her daughters marrying into the music-hating Rivera family.

Inés saw a lot of de la Cruz in Miguel from the time he was young. He resented the music ban early, often humming little tunes he heard in the plaza. Inés thought that perhaps she could live vicariously through Miguel, if he pursued musical fame. So she introduced him to de la Cruz's music and movies. It was fun for Miguel at first, having a secret he shared with one abuela that he had to keep from the other. Inés began to see some wisdom in concealing de la Cruz's connection from Miguel for the time being, deciding that there would be a right moment to reveal the truth to him. But before she could, Miguel turned on de la Cruz very suddenly and very, very vehemently. Inés was nothing short of gob-smacked as Miguel systematically dismantled de la Cruz's reputation in favor of the musician who had been the reason for the Rivera music ban in the first place. She blamed Elena, of course.

Eventually Inés will let Miguel know that Ernesto de la Cruz is his great-great-grandfather. How will Miguel react when he learns that he is, in fact, related to a murderer?

dulce was one of three daughters born to the famous musician, ernesto de la cruz. due to her father’s status and wealth, she was fairly spoiled throughout her childhood. although there was a part of her that always felt as if there was something different about her. she always felt as if she was born in the wrong body. this realization led her to become her authentic self. despite her mother’s apprehension, she was met with acceptance from her sisters and that was all that mattered to her.

while her father’s busy schedule made his presence somewhat scarce at times, she found herself always looking up to the man. this led to her developing a passion for music, even composing her own songs on the side. yet insecurity and fear of rejection stood in the way of her following her dreams and pursuing a career in music. encouragement soon came in the form of a secret relationship she had with one of her father’s backup dancers. while the relationship between the two was something that they only carried out in private, it filled her with joy and gave her the confidence boost that she had been searching for.

this led her to make a plan to pursue her dreams. only for that plan to be crushed one night when her mother made a selfish and twisted decision. while she and her sisters were asleep, the woman that was supposed to love them all unconditionally set their family home on fire. after perishing in the fire, she found herself suddenly in the land of the dead. while it was bittersweet to see her sisters there with her, she felt herself being consumed with anger at the realization of what occurred. her life, her love, and her happiness had been stolen from her. now she would need to create new dreams and new happiness.

valentina alma de la cruz was born to the famous and esteemed ernesto de la cruz and his wife a fellow performer, one of three daughters the couple would go on to have. having a famous and rich father meant that she was practically born with a silver spoon in her mouth. valentina and her sisters were dotted on frequently and given practically anything their heart desired. along with her status came clothes, riches and many lovers that she would use and throw to the side. however things quickly changed in the blink of an eyes. her father came home less and less and was beginning to pay little attention to her mother. it wasn’t long before she found out the reason why, that ernesto had secretly been seeing a mistress which drove her into a jealous rage. that night when he snuck off to see his mistress she waited until their children fell asleep and then set a fire. when valentina woke up she found herself in the land of the dead, and it didn’t take her long to figure out what happened causing her to resent her mother for what she had done to their family. now that val is alive again she’s going to live it to it’s fullest extent and will take down anyone who gets in her way.

BIO:

Ernesto has always been a simple man, he takes what he wants and lives the present like no other time.  Once a poor man from a Mexican family from the small town of 'Palmar de Bravo' he traveled to Mexico City at the Age of 16 to make a name of himself, in the company of his guitar and his best friend, together both aimed to become the most renowed musicians of all times until there was only one of them left in the spotlight.

Rumours tell Ernesto and Hector parted ways when the earlier started to get more growth and popularity over his voice and attractive looks despite being the later the one who composed the songs, after all he was always the people's man in the front of the show. Others tell he got involved with cuestionable people and they took his best friend as the payment for his mysterious grown popularity supported by the Mexican cartels of the region, nevertheless he became a famous person in his country. But such power, such popularity lead him astray, he became convinced he was untouchable even by the ones who once gave him the power he aqcuired and eventually he stopped giving them the monthly fee he should by his performances.

As result the criminal organization kidnapped him after his latest great show where a props bell 'accidentally' fell on him 'killing him' in an instant, and took him over to the frontier, they've had enough of Ernesto's egoistical attitude and they gave him an ultimatum. 'We know what you did and we can tell the world about your real sponsors' they threatened 'You are a dead man for this country now' they would give him the chance to live, without the luxuries he got from stealing other people's compositions, specially Hector's 'Remember me' so long he signed that one of their people would get the royalties of his content once he was 'long gone' from the country. Defeated, angered and threatened Ernesto de la Cruz had to cross the dessert in to a country unknown to him where he was a nobody, where he was basically forgotten and took the last name of his mother Ernesto Cruz Herrera.

He tries to get by with the music he played on his country, giving romantic ballades on restaurants or public plazas, whenever he isn't stealing the wallets from drunk people left after his performances, he knows going back to his country is not longer an option (or so he thinks), often times he is tormented with the memories of his lost greateness and darker endeavours, however he can push past it so long he gets enough money to have fun, get with the ladies and enjoy the people's attention, willing to endure and do anything necessary to seize his moment.

It’s another AU I have, I call it Mixed Blood. Basically the whole premise of it is that Chernabog wanted to make more villains for his plan to enslave the earth. Thus, he takes the blood of the previous villains and (sometimes) heros to do it. His first creation, Abchanchu, was made from the blood of Maleficent, Hades, Jafar, and his very blood.

Abchanchu was grown to be a psychopathic prince, who now wants the very world his main father was willing to share with him all to himself. Using the few children Abchanchu has now, he has his plans set in motion.

Within the monastery of Santa Cecilia, Mexico, young Héctor grew up alongside other orphans with no family to speak of. It was here that he met his best friend Ernesto de la Cruz, and the two boys made a pact that they would become the best musicians in Mexico. Years later, that dream was well on its way to becoming a reality and Héctor had the family he always wanted within his dear hometown  – a fiery wife named Imelda Rivera and a little girl named Socorro – or “Coco”. Ask Héctor and he would have told you it was the best years of his life.

But when Ernesto presented the opportunity to take their music on tour, it seemed like the chance for Héctor to give his family even more. Despite Imelda and Coco’s pleas, he left. And though he sent letter after poem after letter to Imelda and little Coco in his absence, he found himself getting homesick months into the tour. When he finally caved and packed his things to return home, Ernesto was quick to protest. If Héctor left, so did his songs. Héctor insisted, Ernesto suddenly softened at the idea. He sent his friend off with a toast.

Héctor never even made it to the train station. After a crippling pain in his stomach, so wrenching that it dragged him into unconsciousness, he awoke to find himself a skeleton – the unwitting newest resident of the Land of the Dead. This wasn’t right. It wasn’t fair. It made no sense. He was only 21 and perfectly healthy! But death makes no special favors. For the next near century, Héctor becomes a rather infamous figure to a select handful in the Land of the Dead as a bit of a ragamuffin – fast-talking, not very trustworthy – a good guy, but a reckless one. And one obsessed with crossing the Marigold Bridge no matter what law he has to break. All he wants is to see his wife and daughter on that one night of the year - Día de los Muertos. A billion and one questions constantly rack his skull. Why had no one put up his photo so he could cross? Surely Ernesto had sent the bad news of him back to Santa Cecila, right? Was Imelda angry with him? Was Coco? Did he SERIOUSLY die over some bad chorizo?

1942, Ernesto arrives – but Héctor cannot get anywhere near him to talk. What’s more, his own songs are now being blared all over and being hailed as Ernesto’s creations. Some friend. 1971, Imelda arrives. Héctor feels his bones beginning to tire but he’s not missing this reunion. He has so many questions but Imelda only bothers to answer one: yes, she’s angry with him. She never wants him within inches of her ever again. Music has been banned from the family and that means so has he. Héctor doesn’t want to give up on her – on them – but any attempt otherwise only earns him a shoe to the head or a close call with Pepita. Family and music were the only sure things in Héctor’s life. He ruined one with the other. So after one last heartbroken attempt to reach his wife, the tired skeleton puts down his guitar forever.

The next several decades find Héctor broken, but not yet defeated. As long as he’s not yet golden dust, he’ll try year after year to get across that bridge. On his 95th Día de los Muertos in the Land of the Dead, he knows – this is his last chance. His plans haven’t worked, his bones are yellow and brittle, and he can feel his time running out.

Then a mysterious living boy arrives in the Land of the Dead…

Hi and hello all!

My name is Jane, but you can all refer to me as Nam since I know that we have another Jane around here, and I don’t want to confuse either of us. So yeah, just call me Nam if you guys like!

Anyways, this is my little aspiring musician and mi hijo, Miguel, and I am very excited to be given the chance to play as him! I don’t often play as boys, so please bare with me when I officially do begin playing as him. I also have not been in a role playing group in over a year, in fact I haven’t role played in over a year at all. But I use to do so all of the time, and I missed it and so I am very glad to have discovered this group when I did, and I am even more happy to be able to take part in it!

Yeah so, I have a few things I need to fix up and do before I can respond to anyone’s starter or create my own. In fact, Miguel’s own starter most likely won’t be posted until tomorrow because it is already about to be 1 in the morning where I am, and I have been up since 5 AM and had a very LONG day! I also have a few school related stuff that I need to focus on first tomorrow, as I only have about two and a half weeks left of my college semester before I am completely free and able to be on here for as long as I like. So fair warning, my activity will be a little spotty these upcoming weeks, and I was honestly planning on joining after my semester ended, but...I didn’t want to lose the chance of getting to play as Miguel and so I applied two and a half weeks earlier than intended. BUT HEY, that is a good thing right?! I do have two final papers and a timeline I need to write soon, but like I promise to try and come on for at least an hour every single day and do as many replies as I can. In fact, this weekend should be mainly free for me, so I will be having Miguel active them.

Okay so, before I get a bit too wordy (which I know I already am, so sorry about that!), I know what you guys care most about is learning a little bit more about mi hijo here! So, here are a few headcanons I’ve come up with for Miguel:

He is extremely protective of his familia. Especially Coco. Miguel does not do well when anyone insults any member of his familia, even if someone is only agreeing with a complaint Miguel himself was making. But Miguel is the only one who has the right to complain about his familia, because they are his familia and obviously no matter what he says about any of them, he still says it out of love. Frustrated love, but love nonetheless. So try and watch your mouth around him, because he would do whatever it takes to defend his familia no matter what.

Speaking of being especially protective of Coco, Miguel has vowed to not let anyone or anything harm his prima. Seriously, Miguel considers himself more of a lover than a fighter, but displace one hair from Coco’s head and you will be answering to him. His abuelita’s chancleta would be the least harmful thing that you could find yourself getting hit with if you do something to Coco that Miguel deems as harmful. And honestly, while her being sick is part of the main reason for him being overprotective, Miguel still would have be as extremely protective of her since she is not only his familia, but also his best friend. 

He is a helpless but awkward romantic. While romance is not a top priority for Miguel, I imagine that he would easily find himself crushing on others if the situation calls for it. He has seen too many Ernesto de la Cruz films to have those cheesy romantic moments forever in his mind. Plus, he is in his twenties now so I would assume that Miguel would not find things like people kissing gross anymore. In fact, by the time he turned 14 or 15 years old, Miguel finally began to get curious about how it feels to kiss someone or even date them. He hasn’t officially dated anyone though, too busy with his secret music life and being there for Coco to actually make the time for a romantic relationship. But he has been kissed on the lips twice before in his life. One, his first kiss, was with a friend who he trusted enough to not make things weird if they had kissed because he mainly wanted to do so to satisfy his curiosity. The other, was from a random girl who apparently was dared to kiss him. To this day he does not understand why him? Maybe it was a dare to kiss the first person they saw and it just so happened to have been Miguel?

While Ernesto de la Cruz is his favorite performer of all time, Miguel of course likes other musicians as well. He has heard some hit singles from Shakira, Selena, Marc Anthony, Pitbull, Ricky Martin, Vicente Fernandez, Luis Miguel, Celia Cruz, and even Daddy Yankee. How he was able to find songs for any of these singers? The internet is a wonderful invention that allowed Miguel to research other performers when he sneaks away from his family during the night time. But Ernesto de la Cruz will forever be his favorite musician of all time, especially if he does turn out to be his actual uncle! How awesome would that be?! 

Also, as addition, Miguel happens to be a fan of country music. He doesn’t often listen to them as much as he does with latin music, but he still has a few favorite musicians. In fact, if his familia did happen to allow music being played around them, no doubt you would find Miguel singing tunes from Dolly Parton and Blake Shelton as an example. He of course also does listen to contemporary music as well, such as pop and r&b, but Miguel isn’t much of a fan of those. The closes he would find himself liking is also rock music, but even then Miguel is rather picky with what he listens to within that genre.

He is also a bit sleep deprived. His familia happens to also have a thing about being punctual and waking up early in the mornings and so of course, with none of the knowing about his nightly adventures, Miguel often doesn’t get enough sleep. Because of this, he takes any chance he get’s to take a small nap, which often occurs during school hours.

Miguel is really good at crafting things. This comes from learning how to create shoes, but Miguel also likes to create other things. He did after all create his guitar from scratch, which he gathered the parts from any unused materials that was left by his familia and whatever he could gather from around town or even the dumpster. Yes, Miguel is somewhat of a dumpster diver if it meant having a guitar, but he doesn’t do that very often. Only when he feels is necessary.

I have a few other ones, but these are the main ones. Well, besides how he found the photo that gave Miguel the conclusion about Ernesto de la Cruz being his tío. But anyways, yeah these are some of the headcanons I’ve came up for Miguel!

I would also post some connections for him, but I haven’t completely thought of what they are outside of like one connection of him having a friend who always likes to drag Miguel shoe shopping since he has the best opinions on what kind of shoes they should buy. However, I will try and come up with some connections that you guys can fit into, but honestly I am open for plotting regardless because I would love for Miguel to have a few more established connections outside of what is written on his bio and a few others.

Anyone who wants to plot now, however, I most likely won’t respond to because I am extremely tried and am about to head to bed in a few. Just wanted to introduce myself and to mi hijo before heading to bed. But like, I will try and come on tomorrow after I wake up, so that if anyone wants to start plotting we can! My responses may be a little slow though, because again I have some school work I need to focus on first. But I will try and have a starter for Miguel by the ending of tomorrow at the very least.

So yeah, that’s it for now guys! I apologize for the length of this introduction, I promise that it won’t always be this long in terms of my OOC posts. But for tonight, it was.

Reseña de Coco, la nueva es inspiradora nueva película de #Pixar. Primero aclaramos que si ustedes le gusta, una animación perfectamente acabada, con mucha escenas de comedia pero tocando temas serios y que hagan que la música sea protagonista, entonces #Coco es para ustedes, porque logra todo esto y mucho más. #Coco narra la vida de un niño llamado Miguel que está obsesionado con el famoso guitarrista Ernesto de la Cruz y quiere seguir sus pasos musicales, pero la música ha sido prohibida en toda su familia. En una serie de eventos Miguel se consigue atrapado entre el mundo de los muertos y los vivos, donde se encuentra con sus antepasados. Es conocido que cada largometraje de Pixar siempre toca una temática complicada y  busca la manera más simple y directa de explicarla a los niños. Por ejemplo, en Intensamente explican las diferentes emociones humanas, en Buscando a Dory y Monsters Inc. hablan de la aceptación, #Coco por su parte explica la muerte, lo que significa perder a alguien cercano y cómo vivir con eso, el final de la película le tocará una fibra diferente a cada espectador.
