“You’re Binx, huh? I’ve heard a lot about you.” The greeting was cool, but not yet hostile. Ever since hearing how this guy her baby sister was talking to had suddenly dropped contact without notice or explanation (Marnie opposed the term “ghosting” as someone who personally knew some very faithful and dependable ghosts) Marnie’s protective big sister instincts had kicked in. They were in no way lessened when, later, Sophie had explained that she had finally discussed matters with him and found out why he had ditched her. It turned out the man had a bad personal experience with a few witches and decided to base his opinion of every witch he met thereafter on those few. Sophie had decided to give him another chance, but Marnie was on alert; she wouldn’t be so forgiving if he did anything again.
“I’m not supposed to threaten you,” she said, glancing around to ensure Soph was still in the bathroom while she ambushed her date, “but I’m not saying this as a witch—I’m saying this as a sister. Don’t hurt her.” That was as much of a warning as she planned to give, so she plastered on a polite smile after as if they were discussing something as innocuous as the weather.

Hearing the sound of a twig crushing behind her, a half smirk couldn’t help but make it’s way onto Dani’s face as the sound of footsteps came closer. She could tell that they were trying to be sneaky, and if it weren’t for the fact that the weather was starting to get chiller and more leaves and twigs were starting to fall, than maybe they would have succeeded. But the redhead knew this person really well by now, and even without the sound of some twig accidentally being crushed by their foot, she would’ve still known it was them. “You know,” Dani began, her gaze focused on the tree in front of her. Most of the leaves had already started to change into an orangey hue— an instant reminder that the summer season had for sure come and passed. “It’s so much easier to sneak behind someone else's back when you’re a cat than as a human.” She commented, finally shifting her gaze away from the trees as she turned around. At the sight of Binx, the redhead grinned. “But finally you’re here! Any longer and I would’ve been waiting out here for you for over an hour!” ( @nctahousecat )

Most of the guests at Katie’s birthday party were her peers from pre-school and daycare and their parents, but Jay needed some friends of his own around to survive the day of screaming three and four year olds. Binx was a breath of fresh air when he got a chance to talk to him. “I’ve never been so glad I didn’t go into early childhood education,” he mused, sipping on a juice box with a distant look in his eyes like he was pretending it was something stronger. “It’s one thing when it’s your own kid, you know?” He glanced over and corrected, “Guess you don’t know…Still not looking to settle down?” Jay assumed nothing had changed on that front (and he would have to understand why, knowing Binx’s curse) so he almost didn’t bother asking—but he was always curious whether anyone would ever come along to change the old cat’s mind or make him act up. After all, happy little accidents could come from any one-off hook-up, as Jay well knew.

"How long have you been standing there?" -cat binx
It had been months since Jukes had done any proper hunting. This undercover work was stifling at the same as it was eye-opening. The longer he spent around Peter and the lost boys, the more conflicted he was about not only his mission but his entire worldview. Magic, and whether it was really as evil and unnatural as he’d been raised to believe…This was probably the best time for a magical creature to cross his path—any point in the past and he’d have killed the little beast without hesitation the moment he heard a “cat speaking aloud to itself in English. Even now he tensed up, itching for a weapon he didn’t have on him. He didn’t want to talk to this thing. But now there was a little voice inside him that made him pause. What a stupid thing to grow this late in his life, a conscience..."The hell 're you?"

"Why do people call you that?" -cat binx
“Later, Slightly!”
“See ya!”
With his friend already halfway to the next street corner, he was about to carry on his way when another somewhat familiar voice spoke up. “Oh, it’s just a childhood nick—” His answer cut off short, however, as he stopped to stare at the apparent source of the question. Which was a cat. A talking cat. Who had spoken to him so casually that it felt like Slightly was supposed to respond in kind, otherwise he’d be rude. Did he know this cat? Was he being gaslighted into thinking that he knew this cat, that a cat speaking with a human voice was not an extraordinary event?
Well, he had seen enough magic not to be totally freaked out, but it was still disorienting. He couldn't let this throw him off his rhythm though! “Wha—uh…I mean, my orphanage name was Sylvester which was a mouthful, so the other boys called me Sly, and Slightly just kinda evolved from that, so…Um. What about yours? Cause your name is…pretty interesting too, right?” Just like running into an acquaintance whose name he’d forgotten: try to trick them into revealing it without letting them know he didn’t know.

“Really? Huh…” Slightly could understand not asking an ordinary cat if it was alright to pet them, but Binx was a person in cat form; he could actually answer when asked. It only seemed natural to get his permission before caressing him, just as Sly wouldn’t just start touching his hair without permission if he was a human. At least until they were close enough for that…Maybe that was the thing, maybe Binx usually only spent time around people he was already super tight with while he was a cat (or on the flipside, people who didn’t even know he was a person at all.) There was yet another question to add to the list. “No way, I’ve got a bunch more,” he assured as he reached down to pet the cat Binx. “First, is it like a werewolf thing? Do you transform during the full moon or just whenever? And do you eat mice and stuff when you’re a cat or do you still like human food? Can you see in the dark?” He stopped himself from going on, figuring that was more than enough to start with.
He probably should’ve expected the question, but he hadn’t at all. “You might be the first one to actually ask that,” the cat admitted honestly. “You can. Most people do it without asking,” Binx chuckled again. Dani was included in that, but he didn’t mind. He was a cat for so long before that it didn’t feel strange or anything. Funny how he went from adjusting to cat life, to then adjusting to human life again hundreds of years later. “Is that all you’ve got?”

Finding out that Binx knew she was a witch and that being reason of why he had been avoiding her was a lot to take in. On one hand, it hurt even more knowing that he would drop nearly everything that was developing between them just like that as soon as he discovered what she was. Even if things weren’t that serious between them yet and it had been one single kiss before the discovery had happened, the witch couldn’t help the thought of whether Binx would’ve still avoided her the way he did if they were seriously dating for much longer when he discovered that she was a witch. If the feelings between them were enough. But then on the other hand. after hearing about his history with witches and what some of them had done to his own younger sister— could Sophie truly blame him for the way Binx reacted? If she hadn’t been a witch and a witch or another monster killed Marnie or Dylan and Sophie couldn’t save them before that happened, she too would likely have an aversion towards them herself. Or want to be cautious whenever near any of them from that there on.
She didn’t want to loosen her hold on his hand, genuinely wishing to comfort him due to him feeling the need to explain why he reacted the way he did. At the same time, the brunette didn’t want to make him feel anymore uncomfortable, unsure of whether Binx wanted any form of affection from Sophie despite choosing to be honest with her. He could want to be honest but still decide in not wanting to be with her anymore. That….that was something she would have to accept if that becomes the case no matter how much she cared for him.
Binx continued with his story, and it became even more deeper than expected as he explained of how he was cursed. “They killed your sister and cursed you…” Sophie repeated, eyes widening even more at the explanation of how he turns into a cat whenever it was a full moon. If this hadn’t been a serious conversation, the witch would’ve found hearing this as sort of adorable and she would even be eager to see how Binx looked at a cat. But it was serious, and so she reacted with an understood yet sympathetic look on her face. “….I can see why you felt the need to avoid me then once you found out what I am.” Sophie replied, feeling her heart weighing within her chest even as he apologized for being sure if he could trust her or not. Did this mean that he did so now? She only hope so. Risking the chance, the brunette once again reached over and grasp his hand into her’s as her eyes locked with his. “I’m sorry you had to go through all of this. I won’t say I can completely understand the way you feel because I never had to deal with the loss of a sibling or being cursed, but what I can tell you is that not all witches are as bad or evil as The Sanderson’s are. And not just because I’m a witch myself, but—” Nearly confessing that her family were all magical, she switched trajectory. “I’ve met witches who are nice and who wouldn’t dare to hurt anyone, much less humans…..I wished it was one of them you had met, or ever encountered the Sanderson’s in the first place.”
Tumblr media
Although Binx knew that she was a witch, he didn’t know whether Sophie was fully familiar with the Sandersons or not. For all he knew, there could be different covens that didn’t associate with one another. For his own sake, he hoped that Sophie didn’t associate with witches like the Sandersons — for then he could actually justify still liking Sophie despite her magical background. Even if it scared the shit out of him, the idea of being close to someone magical, he felt he could brush his fears aside for someone he cared about.
At first, Sophie seemed confused, but he watched as the pieces slowly clicked for her. This was it. The truth was out, although he hadn’t told her the part that was still stuck with him because of the witches. The curse. Nodding his head at her questions, he looked down at his empty shot glass, almost debating taking another. Instead though, Sophie took his hand in hers, meeting her gaze. There was a sadness behind her eyes that showed him right there that she wasn’t like them. She was still the same Sophie he grew to like from the day he met her, just … magical.
He stayed silent for a moment, her words comforting until she pulled her hand away. His heart sunk into his stomach. “That’s not it..” he continued honestly, figuring he should be completely honest while he was already ahead of himself. “Before they killed my sister, they .. they cursed me.” Clearing his throat, he glanced to the side to make sure none of his coworkers were close by and listening. “It’s … not as bad as it was before, but I —” he sighed, pushing his embarassment to the side. “ — I turn into a cat, at the full moon. Like clockwork.” His eyes met hers again, waiting to see her response. He didn’t know if curses were something she was familiar with or not, or if she would possibly be able to help him. “There’s more to it than that, but that’s the short version .. I just wanted you to understand my history with witches, and why I’ve been avoiding you.. I’m sorry. I just saw you flying and I .. didn’t know if I could still trust you.”

If Bill was already on edge from encountering a talking cat, the thing stepping closer to him almost pushed him over it. He took a step backward to correct for the few that the cat had taken towards him, which was a very generous response considering his natural instinct would have been to level a kick at the creature and send it right back in the direction it came from. His external reaction was very measured in comparison to the internal, a testament to the progress he’d made lately regarding his view of the unusual. But why did the cat have to be a smart-ass, on top of magical? Now Jukes was as annoyed as he was suspicious. “Don’t act like this is normal,” he grumbled. “I don’t trust things that talk when they aren’t s’posed to.”
continued from here
It seemed like with every full moon that passed, Thackery Binx struggled more and more with controlling himself in his feline form. As a human, Binx wanted nothing more but to hide his curse from the rest of the world, embarrassed and unsure if people would mistake him for magic, even if he actually wasn’t. Each full moon though, Binx seemed to expose himself to someone or something. It may have seemed like the cat was willing to put himself out there, but it was simply the curse and not the man. As a cat, Thackery Binx was an entirely different being. He watched the man stiffen at the sound of his voice, playing innocent as the black cat usually did. “A cat, of course,” he purred, taking a few steps closer. Despite the man’s reaction, he wasn’t scared of him at all. It was obviously more complicated than him just being a cat, but he wanted to see his reaction before telling him he was really just cursed. “Never seen a talking one, I take it?” @billyjukes

For all the serious questions Slightly had about how this curse worked, what life as a cat was like, “Can I pet you?” was the first thing that left his mouth when given permission to ask away. It was just that Binx was laying there on his side, looking for all the world like a cat that wanted a belly rub—and despite knowing this was really a grown man in the shape of a cat and being half-sure that it would be weird to treat him like a house pet, the query simply slipped past his filter before he could stop it.
There was a moment of silence that lingered, though there was no awkwardness between them. Binx thought about his curse in that moment, about how he'd lived with it this long with so many people in his life still unaware. Was there really any point living life that way? As a human, Binx preferred to keep the curse to himself, but his cat self always saw things a little differently; maybe that was why he was so much more eager to talk to people about it as a feline.
The cat's eyes followed the pebble that Slightly fidgeted with, unsurprised by the boy's next question. "She does. So does her brother," he answered simply. Amused, Binx adjusted his position, now laying down beside Slightly on his side. "I may or may not have answers," he chuckled. Even having lived with the curse for so many years, there were still things about it that Binx didn't fully understand. "Ask away."

The question of Luke having moved just to be closer to her made Marnie’s heart jump in surprise. Wasn’t that an idea? She had never felt the need to ask why Luke wanted to live here; it seemed pretty obvious since they were younger that he’d rather be around humans than in Halloweentown. It was merely a matter of time before he made the jump. Binx just didn’t know any of that, so he was assuming things. She shrugged it off. “Oh, no. He’s always loved the area.” Mortal world, she thought. “Plus, I don’t think he really had much family to tie him to his hometown…Not like us—our grandma still lives there, but we were raised here. Best of both worlds.”
When he inquired about their brother, she smiled wryly. “Yeah, Dylan—but he’s honestly not much of a warlock either. He basically only uses magic to read faster.” Marnie rolled her eyes. Her brother was the biggest nerd she knew, and she would never miss the opportunity to tease him, to his face or behind his back, no matter how old they got. It came with the territory of their sibling relationship, even if he was one of her best friends at the same time. “He’s probably at home getting ready for a sensible bedtime.”
Binx smiled. He didn't feel the need to go out of his way to impress Sophie's sister. Instead, he'd just prove himself by not fucking up again — from how he left Sophie hanging before, the bar wasn't all that high in doing better. Being there. Clearly, Marnie was content with his answer, too.
She seemed excited talking about her date to Binx, nodding along as he listened. It was interesting now, how dating someone put him in a whole new environment of people, stepping out of his comfort zone and becoming close with a magical family. His past self would have been absolutely horrified at the idea, but the more he was around Sophie, the less crazy it felt. She was still the same Sophie he'd met before he knew she was a witch, the same one that made him want to put himself out there in the first place after all this time. "Wow, so is that why he moved here? Be closer to you?" He asked curiously, smiling again as she teased him. At least she had a sense of humor. "You and Sophie have a brother too, right? Where's he?"

Sophie was aware that the legend of the Sanderson Sisters wasn’t just a legend. Maybe among the humans they were for it was as she had just finished saying— the Sanderson’s were spoken about in schools at one point. At least, that’s what the brunette remembered from back then when she was a kid and hadn’t known that she, Marnie and Dylan came from a magical descent. It was even one of the few things her mom couldn’t prevent Sophie or her siblings from learning about because the legend was always told whenever it was near Halloween. Her grandma just happened to elaborate on the legend by confirming that the Sanderson Sister’s had been a real coven of witches whose past actions of terrorizing human children were—tragically—real.
At the way Binx went straight to making her favorite cocktail without double-checking with Sophie, that familiar warm and fuzzy feeling she felt whenever around him started to re-appear. Remembering what she liked shouldn’t mean much to her because it was part of his job for him to remember the drink orders of other customers. But she wasn’t here as a customer, and it has been a long enough while where it would’ve been reasonable if Binx had forgotten. That didn’t mean him remembering meant this conversation would end well between them. But Sophie hoped it will. “Thanks.” The brunette accepted the cocktail with a faint smile. She didn’t take a sip until he had his own shot poured, but went forth into doing so when he did.
“How do you—” Revealing that he was aware of the legend being true, the young witch stared at him in confusion. None of this was still making sense to Sophie. How the Sanderson’s had to do with any of this made no sense to her, and Binx being aware of how real they were didn’t explain on how any of this lead to him ignoring her for weeks either. But as his eyes met her’s and he admitted his reason for his avoidance of her, Sophie gasped. “You saw me? As in?” Shoot, Marnie wasn’t going to be happy once she finds out! But Binx discovering that she was a witch wasn’t the worst part— it was what he said right after that truly shook her. “They killed your little sister?” Without thinking, she pushed her cocktail towards the side, before reaching over and grasping his hand within her's. “Binx, That— that must have been horrifying for you. I’m so sorry that happened to you and your little sister, and I can’t even begin to imagine how it must be living without her and—” Oh. Loosening her grip on his hands, Sophie looked away. Perhaps Binx didn’t like her then. Not anymore.
Tumblr media
Binx wasn’t sure if Sophie was going to accept his offer or not, and he wouldn’t have blamed her if she didn’t. After leaving her hanging like he did, he was lucky if things went smoothly moving forward. His conversation with Max rang in his head as he stood face-to-face with the witch, the mental reminder that he needed to be careful knowing she had magic. However, he didn’t want to assume she was bad, either, not after how much he grew to like her.
A smile formed as Sophie reluctantly agreed to the drink, already reaching for a glass to make what he remembered to be her favorite cocktail. “Alright, I’ll have one too,” he agreed, deciding he could take a quick shot before he eventually explained everything. Before pouring his own shot, he slid Sophie’s drink toward her with an apologetic smile. “Not too strong,” he promised, holding up his hands in playful defense. He knew Max had advised Binx to hold off on mentioning the Sandersons, but Binx felt there was no point in hiding his own past, considering what he knew about Sophie. Depending on how she reacted, it could help determine how he planned to approach the conversation. As she replied, he poured his shot, contemplating how to answer her question. Binx tilted his head back and brought the shot glass up to his lips to down the liquid. He was clearly nervous, letting out a sigh to force himself to just get it out there already!
“The legend,” Binx began, setting the shot glass back down on the counter, “revolves around witches who feed off the souls of children to stay young. It’s .. a lot more than just a legend.” He met Sophie’s gaze, seeing the obvious confusion on her expression, so he figured he’d get straight to the point. If she hadn’t caught on yet, maybe that was a good sign. Maybe she wasn’t like the Sandersons after all. “Sophie, I saw you after our kiss .. on a broomstick ..” He was reluctant to mention his curse, but the curse itself wasn’t the only reason he distrusted witches. “I’ve been ignoring you because I have a long, complicated history with witches .. the Sandersons killed my little sister.”

“Oh…” Slightly frowned. Learning that Binx’s cat form was the result of a curse naturally prompted so many more follow-up questions, but he didn’t seem to want to explain the whole thing or delve into what must be his level-four-friend-unlockable tragic backstory, so Slightly didn’t dare pry any further. Maybe he’d hear the full story someday, but until then he was just going to make up his own ideas for how Binx might have ended up cursed. It was probably something cool like raiding an ancient tomb, or maybe he’d pissed off some powerful forest spirit—either way, if he wanted to pretend it was normal to be a part-time cat, Slightly was content to play along. He did have more questions that weren’t necessarily related to the lore but rather the mechanics, and he wondered whether the same social rule applied.
He found a tiny pebble on the pavement to play with so he wouldn’t absent-mindedly reach over and started petting Binx as he considered all the things he still wanted to ask. Then he was hit with the obvious yet overlooked fact that he only knew this guy because of his friendship with Sly’s ex-girlfriend. “So—does Dani know?” It would only make sense that she had known this whole time, especially if Binx didn’t want his curse to be a big deal; plus, he seemed pretty comfortable revealing himself to Slightly and they were really only acquaintances. "I have a ton of questions, dude," he confessed.
There was something almost unsettling that came with the fact that Thackery Binx had hardly any control of himself in his feline form. Considering he would normally keep his curse and ability to talk as a cat on the down-low if he had the self-awareness to, talking to Slightly as a cat with no context was completely out of character for him. Luckily, it could've been with someone much more of a threat than Dani's ex, and he wasn't revealing much about himself than his name, at least until Slightly possibly asked more questions as the conversation continued.
"Yeah — didn't really stick, for obvious reasons." The black cat's eyes followed as he sat beside him on the curb. If Slightly had decided to reach his hand out, Binx wouldn't have found it odd at all. He had been a cat long enough before to be used to those behaviors. Even Dani treated him like an ordinary cat when she saw him under the full moon, letting him jump into her arms to receive pets. Sure, he was still Thackery Binx, but something about the curse separated Human Binx from Cat Binx. He met the lost boy's gaze again, tilting his head curiously as he thought of what to say. Obviously, Dani hadn't told him about any of their magical encounters in the past that connected to his curse. "The cat thing .. long story. It's a curse," he put it simply, not really in the mood to talk about the Sandersons. "Sometimes, it's almost easier to pretend it's normal, just for my own sanity."

So he did know this cat! He just didn’t know that the man he knew to be Thackery Binx was a cat. At least, sometimes. Sometimes he was a person…Slightly tried not to let it phase him; Tink and Peter could fly, why couldn’t a guy become a cat? He actually had a lot of questions: have you always been able to turn into a cat; can you transform back and forth at will or is it like a werewolf situation; if it’s a werewolf sort of thing then can you make other were-cats by biting people, and so on. But all that major stuff could be eased into after they built some rapport discussing the topic Binx had brought up first, names. Slightly couldn’t deny that his first name was somewhat strange. Like, Slightly was just a word, but Thackery was almost a real-sounding name.
“Has anyone ever called you Thack? Kinda like Zack—short for Zackery.” After suggesting the nickname, he immediately shook his head. It just didn’t work; Binx really was the best way to go. Short and sweet. Slightly moved to sit on the curb so that he and the cat were closer to eye-level as they talked, and almost automatically reached out as to let the animal sniff his hand and go for a pet, but hesitated. Would that be weird? How much of this guy was actually still human inside? “So, uh…about the cat thing..."
continued from here
Under normal conditions, Binx did everything he could as a cat to stay out of people's way during the full moon. Sure, he liked to explore and keep an eye on certain people when he could, but for the most part it was better to lay low. His unpredictable behaviors under the curse however, didn't make this so easy for him. He'd sometimes wake up after transitioning back to normal with no recollection of what happened while he was a feline, his memory often foggy but not always.
Tonight, the black cat recognized Dani's ex as Binx wandered the isle, a question he'd thought about since he first met the guy crossing his mind again. Slightly knew nothing about Binx's curse, but the feline didn't seem to care in the moment as he followed the familiar figure, breaking the silence casually. As Slightly stopped, Binx stopped as well, sitting on the sidewalk with his tail resting behind him. His human and cat mind seemed to be synced, not self-aware enough to stop himself from revealing his ability to talk. It was almost as if he expected Slightly to know who he was already. He hardly paid attention to his shock, instead listening attentively to the answer he'd been waiting for. He wondered if Dani knew this about him or not. "Mine was a mouthful too. Thackery Binx. I really only go by my last name now." @slightlyconceited

The second she spotted Binx with a brown-haired girl by his side looking all buddy buddy with him, Dani knew she had to find some time throughout the night to pull him aside and ask him who that girl was. She had an idea, if past conversations involving how he was talking to someone who use to work at the same bar as him was any indication, but after any mentions of them had ceased for a while, the girl wasn’t so sure if that was still a thing. Until tonight.
Turns out the redhead didn’t have to be the one to find the other and pull them aside as not long after splitting up with Ferdie and seeing one of the lead actresses to the film she had did the costumes for pull her date into a conversation with her, Dani found herself face to face with Binx. He looked kind of frazzled when he came up to her, causing any smile the girl had on her face to drop for a second. “I should be asking you that— are you doing alright?” Dani asked, wondering what had Binx acting like this. Then again, she has been feeling kind of off since arriving to this place, but nothing has yet to happen. “I spotted Max and Allison not too long ago, and they both looked completely fine, why?” She replied, now tilting her head. “Are you sure you’re doing okay? Did something happen? You weren’t acting like this when I saw you earlier.”
Tumblr media
-time skip-
It was no secret that Dani wanted to learn more about Binx's date, considering this was the first time he was dating someone in centuries. Knowing how Dani is though, he didn't want her to overwhelm Sophie with a bunch of questions after they were just settling back into the dating life again. He'd ghosted her for awhile after discovering she was magic, and now he wanted to make it up to her. At least, that was the initial plan.
After Max pulled him to the side to tell him that he saw one of the Sandersons at the Halloween ball, Binx had to find Dani as soon as possible. His heart was racing, immediately thinking of the mistake he'd made in the past with his own sister. Max was quick to admit he was high, so Binx knew it was up to him to be responsible tonight. He felt bad for ditching Sophie already, mentally promising that he'd find her and explain once he knew where Dani was. Exhaling a breath of relief as he saw the younger girl, he tried to hide his panic for a moment. He didn't want to freak her out unless he absolutely had to. "Dani! You doing alright?" He asked, using his fingers to fix his likely dishevled hair. "You haven't seen your brother or ... or anything strange, have you?"

Dani had been so consumed with the film and other personal related stuff, it hadn’t crossed her mind how a full moon had came and passed. It may be because typically, Binx would come and visit her whenever there was a full moon and so, the redhead didn’t need to pay attention to whenever one happens. But then again, she liked being on point of them Mostly because it helped her know whenever Binx was in cat form if she ever were to try and look for him (though when he doesn’t answer his texts, that alone told her what the answer was), but also because things always happened to feel a little more off whenever a full moon was out. Maybe it’s because that’s when weirdos likes to cone out. That said, it may have been a good thing that Binx hadn’t visited her this time around— she was actually in relief that the cursed man hadn’t because that gave her one less older sibling questioning her on things the redhead had yet wanted to be honest about. Dani knew she had to tell them at some point on what else she had been busy doing, but for now that will stay as a secret between herself and herself alone.
“Eh, I’ll make sure to mark my calendar for when the next full moon is out.” She commented, pretending to seem uncaring over Binx’s promise even though the smile on her face said otherwise. Dani didn’t doubt that Binx would honor his promise, but with Halloween night almost nearing, it was best for the redhead to be on point about it herself. With a snort, the girl stared at Binx with raised brows. “You agree with Max all the time!” She claimed. Seriously, if it were up to both Max and Binx, Dani was one hundred precent certain that she lived inside a magic resistant bubble if it meant the redhead wouldn’t do something dumb that was magical related. “Yeah, we do. All four of us.” Though tricking Max and Alli into watching the movie together didn’t sound half bad either…. “And what about you, Binx? What have you been up too while I was all hauled up inside my home?”
Tumblr media
It was funny, seeing Dani roll her eyes in return to him as they teased each other like siblings. It was moments like this that made Binx miss his own sister, though that wasn't particularly a bad thing. As long as he still had his curse, he could still see Emily sometimes, which may have complicated his search to completely rid of his curse, but that was something he wasn't thinking too deeply about yet. There had been a particular witch keeping his mind occupied instead, something he had yet to admit out loud to Dani.
Binx smiled, the admittance that she missed the full moon telling him that he hadn't seen her during his recent transition. Good to know. His unreliable memory under the full moon was something else he hadn't talked to Dani about yet, but surely it was going to catch up to him eventually. "Sorry I didn't stop by to see you, next time I'll remind you beforehand," he promised. Better to remind her than to promise to find her as a cat — there was no way of telling if he'd remember to actually follow through or not. "Of course not, when do I ever agree with Max?" He smirked, shaking his head. "No, I'm glad you're staying busy." He accepted the hug and gave a light squeeze, happy to hear what Dani's been up to instead of focusing on his own shit. "Doesn't sound boring. We're gonna have to make sure we all see the movie once it's out, to appreciate your hard work on the big-screen."

With a roll of her eyes, the girl smirked at him. It’s funny to think that when Dani first met Binx, he wasn’t a human at all but rather a black cat of all things. In fact, she would go as far as to say that he was the first inkling of magic she’s experience since moving to Echo as a kid, hearing an actual human voice coming out of a cat’s mouth being a shocking yet thrilling revelation for someone who was obsessed with magic as she was. And the fact that Binx can now go between from being a human or a black cat—though not at will—still blows Dani’s mind to this date. But she will say it was really great to have someone like him within her life now, even if Binx was like a second Max with how overbearing and overly protective he can be. “Shoot! A full moon had passed already? I didn’t even notice!” The redhead snapped her fingers with a small frown. Darn, and she really wanted to see him as a cat since it’s been a while she last saw him like that too! But that frown didn’t last for so long as Dani rolled her eyes and smiled at him. “Har, har,—  don’t tell me you’re going to start commenting on how out of pocket it was of me to have stayed cooped up at home all this time like Max did? ‘Cause hearing that from one older brother was enough.” She quipped, while throwing her arms around Binx as to both hug him and lean against him. “Boring if I’m being frank! Been so busy with all the costumes for the movie— I’m thrilled to finally being done with it all!”

It was almost embarrassing to admit that Binx wasn't so swift on his feet like he once was. In his cat form? Well of course, he could blend in easily and remain unnoticed, but perhaps that was because he had stayed that way for so many years. Adjusting back to human life, and in the modern world at that, took some time but Binx feels he's back on his feet for the most part. The sound of his feet stepping on the twigs below him is what seemed to get Dani's attention as he approached her, initially trying to sneak up on her but still not slick enough. He smiled sheepishly as Dani broke the silence, rolling his eyes once she turned to face him. "If you had invited me a few days ago, it would've worked," he teased, recalling that the full moon had just passed. He hadn't seen Dani much recently, but he was glad that she was staying busy and (seemingly) out of trouble, making both his and Max's jobs a little bit easier. "Sorry to keep you waiting. I guess that makes up for you being so busy all the time," he teased, nudging her with his elbow as he finally stood by her. "How is everything?"
