What's your character's comfort food, and what do those around them think of this?
(From the Merlinverse Discord's Character Building Question of the Week).
Ok, for Sena I think the man has a soft spot for sweet treats (based on something Casadee mentioned reading in Merlin's journal). Like he doesn't indulge in it often and doesn't usually crave it, but when he's stressed Sena is snacking on everything from candies, to ripe fruit, to whatever desserts Dolly has managed to whip up. I think Dolly is pretty indulgent of the habit too, making sure the Mystical House is never short on snacks whenever Sena has a lot going on, and that she and Hammie have a secret recipe book of some of Sena's go-to treats over the years. Hogan has also taken to carrying a small pouch of hard candy around with him whenever Sena is around, a habit he picked while first working with the mage (though it later came in handy when dealing with Valen who inherited his adoptive father's sweet tooth).
I also think that when Sena is feeling nostalgic or homesick about his childhood in the Ashen Wastes/Crimson Highlands he finds a lot of comfort in sliced fruit that's been tossed in chilli powder and salt, and occasionally some preserved meats (cough biltong cough) when he can get his hands on it. Sena loves sharing these treats with his son but quickly learnt that his partner Hogan didn't quite have the spice tolerance to enjoy them (much to Sena's concern and Valen's amusement).

For any carnivore or meet eating kins that don't like how raw meet tastse/feels let me recommend something.
It's called Biltong, it's an African snack that is dried meat! Any red meat can be dried with spices and it's really, really good.
Personally we just make my own with the spices we like. Biltong can be very dry or wet! It takes about a week to dry but is mainly made with game meet. (Only works on red meat).
We'll post a step by step when we ask the old Afrikaans guy for his recipe
