Page 04. ---- Calm Restored Twice When Strikers Threaten Trouble at Hat Plant --- NO PEACE MOVE MADE ---- Guelph, July 15 (Special). - Apart from a couple of brief skirmishes, during which a police officer drew a billy on one occasion, all was peaceful today around the plant of the Billmore Hat Company, where a strike of 200 employees has been in progress since Thursday morning.

Operations at the plant have been practically at a standstill, and no move has been made toward negotiations between the firm and strikers.

The first disturbance threatened when a few workers were entering the factory in the morning, but when police went to the assistance of the workers the trouble quickly subsided. Later in the day, when one of the employees allegedly attempted to take food into the plant for those who returned to work, his car was all but overturned by a group of pickets. Police again stepped in and there was no further disturbance.

Picketing of the factory continued throughout the day, and again tonight, and union officials who are supervising the strike declared the strikers would continue to the picket lines over the week-end.

W. J. Tiller, assistant factory manager, declared today the firm had no statement to make at present on the strike situation.
