Finally got my bike, and introduced the boy to it. Trotted him around the block with no problem; he did super well. Probably do that a couple of more times to increase his confidence before actually hooking him up properly.

Kermit screamed to be included, so I trotted him around the block next. It was difficult. He is slow. But we did it! XD

We finally did it! I’ve been wanting to try bikejoring with Fish for so long and we actually did it last weekend! He did so well for his first go too, no crashes or falls lol

Can’t wait to try some more with this goober

It’s hot so we’ve been doing our scooter runs in the morning. Today I took her to a park we haven’t been to since we moved. She happily ran around the paved track for 30 minutes. I switched the scooter out for a longline and did another 30 minutes as a decompression walk. A bully mix almost made it over the short chainlink fence to get at us (they had two legs over and luckily their back foot slipped) but Mandana handled it well and we otherwise had a nice time.

Cinder did good this run, pulled a little more than usual. It's not her favorite activity so she just keeps up with Ember and doesn't pull much. Flint was similar, same with running on the left.

Ember thinks we need to GO FASTER but none of us are in shape for that yet since it's only just now gotten cool enough for bikejoring.

the several feet of snow we had is pretty much gone already because it very rapidly warmed up, and the sidewalks were nice and clear. until they weren't. and he dragged me right into a snowbank.

Bike Rack Recs

Bikejoring (and other active people) side of dogblr-- what do you use for bike racks? I have a 2016 Subaru Outback and my dogs ride in a variocage in my trunk. I need to be able to access my trunk when transporting my bike.

I would rather avoid using a roof rack if possible because I am short and weak and have preexisting back pain.

I am in the United States.

Tried scootering with both dogs (individually) and it was a ton of fun! @darkwood-sleddog post awhile back about line out was super helpful and we've been quietly practicing that along with directional cues. So today was the day to put things in motion (pun intended).

Forte wanted to stop and pee on everything for the first few minutes. But once he got past that he really enjoyed himself even though I kept the pace slow to where there was only slight tension and not true pulling. (I used a bungee waist leash attached to me, not the scooter.)

Faye did awesome and only needed a little extra encouragement to stay ahead and not default to dropping back next to me.

I kept it short, maybe ten minutes tops with each dog. But they clearly enjoyed themselves and I'm definitely going to add it into things we do together.

No photos cause I was busy managing the scooter and paying attention to the dogs.

Mandana wanted something she didn’t have a button for so we went through our options and this is what she chose:

bored > play >> inside >>> treadmill >>>> scooter (which was inside next to the treadmill)

Her enthusiasm confirmed she wanted to go run with the scooter so we took it for a mile and she did so good. It’s a wooded neighborhood so there were squirrels every 10 feet and she REALLY wanted to chase them but she didn’t. She stayed with me the whole time and we had a lot of fun rolling around the neighborhood together.
