🌞🌞🌞 मकरसङ्क्रान्ति - Makarasaṅkrānti, a festival to celebrate the Sun (Sūrya), this significance of #surya is traceable to the #vedictexts, particularly the #gayatrimantra, a sacred hymn of #hinduism found in its scripture named the #rigveda. According to #vishnudharmottara, the iconography of #lordsun should be shown with four hands, with flowers in two hands, a staff in third, and in fourth he should be shown to be holding writing equipment (symbolizing knowledge). He is resplendently seated or standing on a chariot pulled by one or more horses, typically seven.
