#bigtingspoppin update

Haven’t posted about anything personal on here in a while but a lot has gone in the past few weeks. March has barely started and already a lot of #bigtings happened for me. (Which is interesting bc last year in March is when I got my job and came out publicly as trans to everyone in my life). 

Hennyways.

I just came back from an 8 day trip in Europe where I visited Barcelona and Amsterdam. I was traveling alone but had friends who were in the countries I was in at the same time. Traveling alone kind of sucked because I learned that I am completely incapable of being alone but otherwise the trip was absolutely amazing.

I loveeeeedddd loved loved loved Amsterdam. Just fell in love with the city. I miss it. And I want to move back and live there for a few years in my life. I’ve already decided I will I just have to figure out how to make it happen. I’ll post pictures from my trip in another post, but honestly I don’t have many and they’re not all good because of the whole traveling alone thing. (I don’t trust asking strangers to hold my phone and take a picture and was also felt too awkward most of the time to do it). 

I got back on Saturday. And now tomorrow, I will be having top surgery. I REPEAT

TOMORROW IS MY TOP SURGERY.

Of course there’s a huge fucking blizzard that’s supposed to happen but the surgery center is in Albany and they don’t close for inclement weather, they’re used to that kind of shit upstate you know. 

I don’t have any feelings because it still doesn’t feel real and even though I know it won’t be cancelled because of the weather I still don’t fully believe that and I’m too scared to actually think it’s going to happen tomorrow and have it get cancelled again. 

Originally my two best friends were driving up to Albany with me but now my dad which I feel better about because I trust his driving in a blizzard. But now we might have to find a motel for a night which is just a pain in the ass because it’s another expense on top of a month where I’m already spending a lot of money. (Shoutouts to tax season saving me though). 

My insurance covered the surgery but not all of it. Even though this is a chest reconstruction surgery and the whole purpose of this surgery is to give my chest a masculine appearance, cigna deemed the free nipple grafts “cosmetic” and did not cover them. That equals a $1500 out of pocket payment for me. 

I’m very lucky to have a good paying job and that’s not the worst number in the world to hear. I ended up taking out a CareCredit card anyway so that I have a little bit more time to pay that off. I’m not worried about it I should have that paid off easily within a year. 

My surgery is with Dr. Jeffrey Rockmore in Albany. I will of course be posting updates and pictures as they become available for anyone looking at surgery with Dr. Rockmore. If you have any questions about the consultation or insurance process please don’t hesitate to ask.

Also my birthday was this past Thursday so that happened as well. Ya boy is 24 now. But honestly that feels like the least important thing that’s happened this week. I’m actually a little bummed that my Eurotrip and surgery kind of stole the spotlight from my birthday because I’m a huge diva about my birthday and I love making a huge deal about it. 

But I can’t really complain because this trip and surgery are two things I’ve wanted literally my entire life and I can’t imagine getting two better birthday presents. 

Anyway, yeah that’s been my life. Wish me luck for tomorrow. Fingers crossed everything goes well.
