It’s Kanera week and despite having over a month to prepare I’d didn’t prep ahead at all!! I will endeavour to make something for at least two of the days this week, because I love these two dearly

4. Share a sentence or paragraph from you’re writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)

Ooooh!!

“The dreams are like a taste of heaven—a taste of a life that could have been in a kinder universe. She wishes she could have more, that she could experience her Kanan outside of the fantasies her sleeping mind creates…but for now, the dreams are enough. At least she gets to see him there. “Well…I’m as close to fine as I can be without you. Spectre 02 out.”

But suddenly, against all expectation, against all reason, her comm buzzes. On the same frequency. She freezes, hope and yearning and disbelief rocketing into her all at the same time.

I’m dreaming.

I’m delirious.

This can’t be real.

She feels herself click the button that will allow transmissions.

“Spectre 01 to Spectre 02.”

It can’t be him.

“That’s some compliment, Captain Hera.”

No voice can be this low, warm, and comforting while containing the biggest smirk in the galaxy all at the same time.

No voice but his.

“Kanan?” she breathes, voice shaky as she reels with desperate hope.

“Hera,” his voice deepens, filled with an even deeper longing.”

I realized that suspense hasn’t really been a thing in my writing—it’s mostly self-indulgent fluff; lol. I have plans for more suspense in the future…but I am so happy with how this worked out!! I think the pacing and timing is fun and it’s very high-energy!

8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?

Oh, Force, yes. Happy fluffy Kanera fics fuel me.

11. What do you envy in other writers?

OOH. Probably their worldbuilding that seems so effortless! It’s tough for me and I find it kinda boring. And their ability to either stay concise or go super long! Although I’m rather good at going long lol even when I don’t mean to

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)

Ooooooh!! Hmmm well I definitely throw references in there pretty often—I made one to Blackbird by @okadiah in my most recent fic! I am really happy with the relationship development I wrote between K & Hera in my series Moons of Rion! They grew so much closer so quickly, but they’re still platonic, which is both difficult and enjoyable for me to write. Let’s see…I do definitely have callbacks planned for in the later parts of Space Married and Anakin’s New Apprentice! It’s gonna be a blast diving back into those. Spectre One to Spectre Two has taken over recently, but I’m getting excited about my other WIPs! Oh, and I really enjoy dramatically playing with the symbol of the phoenix in my fics. I might do it a little too much…but that’s okay, right? It isn’t annoying? I hope not!
