     It was the middle of July and despite Tim’s aspirations as a kid, he did not, in fact, have a job that gave him summers off. As such, it was a miserable affair, getting to and from work. Usually Tim would be in an airy t-shirt and shorts but Jon had caught sight of his Hawaiian themed top last week and it had been a close thing to avoid being forced to go home and change. It would be a few weeks before he could get away with such a ‘blatant display of disrespect for work procedures’, as Jon put it, so here he was: sweating his ass off on the tube and praying to whatever god would listen that they’d fixed the AC at the Institute.

     God never did like Tim.

     “Christ above, does Elias want us dead or something?” Tim cried to the room at large as he dropped heavily onto his spinny chair. It was stifling. “What did we ever do to him, huh?? Did someone submit a statement about Bigfoot again?” He immediately started popping buttons on his ‘work appropriate’ shirt.

     Sasha popped her head up from her cubicle and grinned at him. Her waist-length braids had been piled sloppily on top of her head and she looked about ready to topple over from the imbalance. She’d already shed her top layer down to a simple purple tank top but she still had a sheen of sweat on her brow that had her large round glasses slipping down her nose.

     “Pretty sure it’s cause Gerry called him an old codger and compared him to the statement giver from the McGregor case last week. He’s out for revenge now.”

     Tim wrinkled his nose. “What, the stuffy one with the cane who wouldn’t shut up about how the Tories are implementing a surveillance state?”

     “The very same,” Sash confirmed, pushing her glasses back up with a hand. “Though I personally think Elias would be very pro Big Brother. Did I tell you he asked after my aunt the other week?”

     “You told Elias about Matilda’s lung cancer?”

     “That’s just it! The only person I told about that was you, and I’m pretty sure you didn’t run off to tattle to Elias.” She leaned forward in her chair conspiratorial and Tim couldn’t help but do the same. Sash was magnetic when she was like this. It had led to more than one rendezvous in their first year at the Institute. “I think he has cameras down here.”

     It wasn’t the most insane theory she’d come up with, somehow. Just two months ago she’d followed Jon home because she didn’t believe he actually had a home; she’d thought he’d been sleeping in the Institute of all places. Besides, there was that feeling of being watched that pervaded this place. Still, Tim couldn’t help but laugh.

     “I think we’d know if he had cameras, Sash. Did I tell you what he-”

     “What fresh hell is this?” The voice from the doorway was flat and scathing and Tim immediately spun in his chair to grin at the intruder.

     “Gerry!” He called happily. “I didn’t know you were coming in today!” He was wearing his signature black trenchcoat and a scowl that did things to Tim. Luckily for both of them, Tim was well guarded against Gerry’s scary-sexy goth vibe by virtue of sharing a flat with him. There were only so many times you could get a chub from simply looking at your roommate before your prick just gave up on the enterprise entirely.

     “There’s a statement I need but this is fucking ridiculous.” His voice was as deep and rough as it always was but the angry edge to it managed to send a little zing down Tim’s spine. The days that Gerry showed up at work are always so interesting. “It’s at least 10 degrees hotter in here than it is outside. The fuck is Elias thinking?”

     “Gonna rough him up for us, Ger?” Tim asked with a grin and Sasha laughed. “Stomp on him a little with those boots of yours? 10 quid says he’s into it.” Gerard shot him a look but there was a smile playing around his lips, pulling slightly at the snakebite piercings there. His makeup that day was the same as it usually was, eyeliner and three exaggerated lower lashes that made his gaze all the more intense. Thank god for the aforementioned Roommate Protection. Especially when Gerry’s eyes swept over Tim before meeting his eyes again and giving a mocking little smile. His eyes were slate grey and impossible to look away from.

     “Projecting much, Stoker?” He asked in a low tone. It was teasing and Sasha cackled but Tim’s brain stuttered and properly died. What did one say when a hot goth implied that you maybe wanted him to stomp on you with his giant sexy boots? Especially when it was true.

     “What, you wanna find out, Keay?” Tim shot back. That was good. Keep it light, let it plausibly pass for playful workplace banter – a little bit of light flirting to keep thoughts of the heat at bay. Gerry arched a brow at him, face betraying nothing but that same cool amusement. Sasha snorted and shook her head, turning back to her computer.

     “You two are ridiculous,” she told them. Tim shrugged, eyes still on Gerry, and then Jon’s office door creaked open.

     “Oh good, you’re here, Gerard.” Gerry’s eyes flicked away. “You said you needed the Anderson file?” 

     “Yeah, that’s the one,” Gerry said. He passed by Tim’s desk to take the file from Jon. Tim turned back to his desk. “By the way, your workplace is a HSE violation waiting to happen.”

     “Yes, I am quite aware,” Jon said drily. “Make sure to get that one back to me by the end of the day. And not stinking of smoke this time, Gerard. I have more notes I plan to add to it.”

     “No promises.”

     Inevitably, it was Tim who had to go hunt Gerry down at a quarter to five to get the file back. Luckily the fire exit to the left of the stairs to the archives was conspicuously propped open by an unopened carton of cigarettes and Tim pushed outside into the slightly cooler summer air.

     Gerard was lounged on the steps leading to the back alley, facing away from the door with the file open at his feet and a lit cigarette in hand. He’d tied his hair up sloppily, much like Sasha had hers, but it was so long that black sheets of it still cascaded down his bare shoulders. His trenchcoat had been completely abandoned, laid out on the step beside him, and he was left only in a crop top Tim had never seen before. It was made of a sheer grey material that matched his eyes and had no sleeves to speak of. Even worse, Gerry had a hand tucked under his shirt, shucking the top halfway up his chest. His alabaster skin shone in the dim light of the setting sun and Tim nearly took a tumble down the steps when Gerry tilted his head back to look back at him. 

     “What?” Gerry asked in a gravelly voice when he caught Tim staring. Tim opened his mouth to respond but he suddenly found himself incapable of speech. Gerry rolled his eyes and turned his head languidly back forward, lifting his cigarette to his lips. “AC’s broken inside but it’s barely any cooler out here. Don’t be a prude.”

     That surprised a laugh out of Tim. “A- A prude?!” He choked out. Never in his life had he been accused of such a thing. And this, this was so far on the opposite side of the scale he wanted to laugh. Or cry. Gerry just blew a smoke ring.

     “If you’re here for the file, it’s there.” He kicked at the manila folder at his feet and Tim could hear the wounded noise Jon would make if he were there. Right, Tim had actually come for a reason that wasn’t to ogle Gerry. Supposedly.

     “Right.” Tim cleared his throat and picked his way down the steps so as to not step on Gerry. God, did his legs have to be so long? “This thing has gotta reek by now,” he said as he bent down for the file. “Pretty sure the boss man won’t be too happy with you about that one.” He turned back and around and Gerry quickly lifted his eyes. His eyes were a warm hazy grey, much like the smoke drifting around his head.

     “Afraid of Sims then, are you?” He drawled. His piercings glinted as he grinned at Tim.

     Tim rolled his eyes and made his way back up the steps. He very pointedly kept his gaze on the ground as he did so, enticingly bare torso be damned. “Everything’s a question with you,” he said. “‘Projecting much? Afraid of Sims?’ Just call me a bottom and get on with it.”

     Gerry rasped out a chuckle right as Tim reached the top step. Tim hesitated but couldn’t help but glance back down behind him. Gerry’s head was tilted back, hair messy and top askew, and his eyes half lidded against the dying light behind Tim’s head.

     “Now where’s the fun in that?”

     He was sight to see, all stretched out and half clothed on the steps to the alley. Tim shook his head and turned back inside without another word. Gerry’s rapsing laugh followed him all the way into the archives.

     Damn tease.

One of two lovely pieces commissioned by the delightful Triangle (Neph)…though technically this was their only commission and the second was a surprise bonus ;D. I went all out with this piece try8ng to emulate the Gravity Falls style background to really set the characters in place. It was fun studying official BG’s for ideas on linework and colouring…though I still need a LOT of background practice. 😅

Looks like Neph is spiriting Stanford away into some grotto for a private rendezvous :D. Watch out for bears and Bigfoot!

“Okayyyy. Sweet Pea, what did you want to talk about?” Toni asked, trying to ease the tension. 

“I was wondering if you were busy tonight. Fangs is having a rendezvous with someone so we could hang out at my trailer or go to the Wyrm?” He asked. 

“Sorry Bigfoot, but she has better plans, they both do, with me.” You interrupted. 

“Why would you wanna hang out with her. I get sick of her during a five minute conversation, why do you want to willingly hang out with her?” 

“Probably because she’s sick of hanging out with a dumbass like you. Plus her standards of friends have gone up since she started to date Cheryl.” You replied, before Sweet Pea had a chance to say anything the bell went for class and you walked away with Cheryl and Toni. 

“What a fucking bitch!” Sweet Pea muttered as he sat beside Fangs in History. 

“Who?” He asked. “Actually let me guess. Based on the scowl on your face I assume you’re talking about Y/n?” 

“Yeah.” He grumbled. “I don’t understand why everyone likes her so much. She’s insufferable.” 

“She’s actually really nice when you get to know her.” Fangs defended. 

“Ha. And I’m going to wake up a millionaire tomorrow morning.” He sighed and Fangs just laughed at him. “Whatever.” He shrugged and started to find a pen. 

“I see you’re sat with all your friends.” Sweet Pea smiled smugly as he approached your table at Pops.

“I see Josie chose something more important to do than be with you.” You smiled. “Again.” You added and looked behind him to see Josie sat with Reggie.

“She’s only with him to get over the loss of me.” He argued. 

“What loss, the way I see it Reggie is a big step up from you, and thats saying something. Now did you want something or do you just like to irritate people for a hobby?” You asked and stood up, but Sweet Pea was too quick and he stood in front of you, blocking you from walking past him. “Move.” You sighed. 

“Nahhhh. I quite like standing here. I think I might even sit opposite you when you get your food.” He replied, a smile tugging at his lips. You rolled your eyes and cursed him under your breath. 

“Move!” You told him, slightly angrier. His smile turned into a smirk before he walked backwards moving out of your way. He only moved a couple of inches before he stopped again. “Just move Sasquatch.” 

“Make me princess.” He smirked. 

“Fine.” You replied angrily and grabbed his hand pulling him towards the door.

“Where are we going?” He asked confused. 

“We’re going to go to my car, drive to my house and fuck. Do you have a problem with that?” You asked. 

“Absolutely not.” He replied just as angrily as you stormed towards your car. “I don’t know why I wanted that so much.” He muttered to himself. 

“But we’re not kissing.” 

“Why?” He asked standing in front of the passenger seat. 

“Because I don’t like you. Duh” You replied and got in. Sweet Pea stood in front of the door looking at you dumbfounded. “Are you getting in or what?” 

“Yep. Definitely.” He nodded his head and climbed in. 

After you and Sweet Pea had done it the first time he left almost immediately which you were quite thankful for to be honest. After you had done it you wanted to rip his head off and you had a feeling that he wanted to do the same. You had agreed that no one would find out as you both had reputations and well you just didn’t want anybody to know who you were fucking. Over the weeks, what was supposed to be a one time thing that relieved you of your anger towards each other, turned into a two, and then three, and then four, and then soon enough every other night he would climb through your window or you would end up outside of his trailer. 

Approaching your friends you smiled as you met up with them. Your smile fell slightly when you saw Sweet Pea stood with them.

“Oh hey String Bean...I mean Sweet Pea.” You smiled and greeted the rest of your friends. You could tell that Sweet Pea was staring daggers into you but you chose to ignore it, instead asking what they were all talking about. 

“Josie and Kevin are having trouble with their odd new family.” Betty explained and you gave them both a sympathetic look. You started to talk to Veronica about what she was doing at the weekend before Sweet Pea stormed off. 

“Where’d he go. Did he see Reggie or someone?” You asked and rolled your eyes at how easily annoyed he could get. 

“I dunno. He just stormed off.” Jughead shrugged. You looked around curiously before deciding to go see where he was. Not that you cared or anything, you just wanted to see if he was annoyed at something you could use to wind him up with. 

“I have to go. I’ll see you around.” You waved at everyone before walking in the direction you assumed Sweet Pea went. 

“That was weird.” Archie remarked. 

“What?” Betty asked confused. 

“Sweet Pea didn’t say anything when Y/n was rude to him, and then he stormed off and not only did Y/n ask where he went she also left soon after, going in the same direction that he had.” Archie explained. 

“That could just be a coincidence. Sweet Pea hasn’t really been that talkative these past few weeks and Y/n does have a class in that direction.” Toni tried to reason. 

“Actually I have some evidence that backs Archie up.” Josie spoke up and everyone looked at her expectantly. “Well a few weeks ago, me and Reggie were in Pops talking about the speakeasy. Y/n was waiting for Cheryl and Toni to turn up when Sweet Pea walked in. Sweet Pea saw that she was alone and went to talk to her. It looked like they were having an argument and then Y/n dragged Sweet Pea out of Pops and they both got in her car.” She explained and everyone gasped. 

“They’ve been fucking!” Toni said loudly, drawing the attention of some other students. “Thats why she didn’t want to hang out with us that night. We remembered that we were supposed to meet her and so we rang her and asked if she still wanted to and she said she was busy.” 

“Do you know what the argument was about?” Cheryl asked. 

“I didn’t hear because I was on my phone for the majority of it but Reggie might have heard.” Josie shrugged. Reggie walked down the corridor and Veronica waved him over. 

“Yeah?” He asked. 

“Do you remember the other week when we were at Pops and we saw Y/n and Sweet Pea argue and then they left together?” Josie asked and Reggie nodded. “Did you hear what they said.” 

“Something about going back to hers to do something, and that she wasn’t going to kiss him. He asked why and she said ‘because I don’t like you. Duh.’ and then they walked out.” He shrugged. 

“They are definitely fucking!” Toni squealed. 

“We all knew it would happen. It was only a matter of time.” Kevin commented and they agreed. 

“True. But what I want to know is why Sweet Pea is so upset. Like Toni said he has barely said anything to anyone and every time Y/n’s around he looks at her like she has just killed a puppy in front of him.” Betty wondered. 

“He always looks at her like that.” 

“No. He looks at her like she’s the puppy and he is going to kill her.” Jughead replied.

“Are we really all that blind.” Fangs muttered. 

“What?” Toni asked. 

“That look is something we don’t recognize because he’s never felt like this before. Think about it, we’re his best friends and when have we ever seen him look like that before he started hooking up with Y/n? Never. Sorry Josie.” He glanced at her and she looked slightly offended. “Because he’s never been in love with anyone before. Again sorry Josie. But he’s in love with her and we all know at the beginning of their ‘relationship’ they would have said it was nothing but hate sex and then he started to fall for her but didn’t know how to tell her because he just assumes that its still just hate sex to her.” He explained. 

“But how do we know that it isn’t still just sex for her?” Toni asked. 

“She doesn’t insult him as much. And when she does she looks like she has to force herself to, and we all know Y/n. She’d insult anyone, especially him, with ease. But it genuinely looks like it hurts her.” Fangs continued. 

“But if it hurt her then why keep doing it?” Archie asked. 

“So it doesn’t look like she had actually started to fall for him.” Cheryl replied, rolling her eyes at Archie’s question. 

“So why are you hiding in the cleaners cupboard?” You asked and slowly made your way in. Sweet Pea was sat on a tiny stool and you had to refrain yourself from laughing at how stupid it looked. 

“Felt like it.” He shrugged. 

“Whats up?” You asked and sat on the floor beside him. 

“Nothing. What’re you doing here?” 

“I wanted to see if you were okay.” You shrugged. 

“Whats it to you.” He snarled and you stood up. 

“Because I wanted to see if you were okay and see if I could help but it doesn’t matter. Sulk in the cupboard for all I care.” You spat and walked out of the door, you heard him stand and follow closely behind you. “What now?” You asked, turning around not realizing how close he was to you and nearly bumped into him.

“I’m sorry.” He mumbled. 

“I’m sorry. I didn’t quite hear that.” You replied. 

“You know what. Forget it!” He snapped causing the people in the corridor to stop and stare at what was happening. You could hear them muttering and out of the corner of your eye you saw your friends stood just beside you, watching the scene unfold. 

“Forget what?” You replied, just as angry. 

“Forget that I actually thought you cared about me!” He shouted and every one went silent.  

“What?” You asked stunned. He realized what he said and started to blush. 

“Can’t you hear? Or are you just too stupid to understand what I said.” 

“You always do this!” You sighed frustrated. 

“Do what?!” 

“This. Every time I try and be nice to you, you’re rude to me and I’m sick of it.”  

“Thats only because... becau-” 

“Shut up!” 

“Make me.” He challenged and you moved towards you. 

“Fine.” You snapped and grabbed his arm, just like you did the first time in Pops.

I was like, ‘Really, dude?’ Idiot thinks we’re going tomorrow, though.”     “He seriously needs to pass 8th grade already,” Tulio said. “I’d hate to have the same classes with him next year.”     “If he actually passed this year, we’d be stuck with him a minimum of three years in high school once we get there,” Kyo said. “He’s not going anywhere anytime soon.”     “He could be our dad by sophomore year,” Lee said. “He’ll probably already be voting by 9th grade.”     “He’ll be dropping his parents off for work,” Tulio added.     “He’ll be working and filing a tax return next year,” Lucho said next.     “He’s going to be stressing about bills and finances, while we stress about that L we had to take when Lucho goofed Wednesday night,” Kyo said.     “You’re horrible,” Lucho told Kyo.     “We’re horrible,” Kyo responded.     “Yeah, we suck,�� Tulio said. “But Flint sucks more!”     “Here’s to sucking less, my homies!” Lee said, followed by a karate chop through the air.     The group chattered to fill the empty air between the hundreds of trees as they searched for the statue. They were not sure what they would do once they found it; they simply wanted to see it up close and call that a win. At this point, they were deep inside the massive forest, having walked for about two hours. They grew anxious with each passing minute once their conversation died down.      The excitement they had when they first crossed past the forest borders was absent. No longer did their eyes swivel between every movement that took place. They learned to ignore the scuffle of squirrels as they hurried up tree trunks and bounced between tree limbs. The caws of crows became background noise. What became the primary occupant of their ears was each crunch of leaves that sounded from below their feet. Crunch, crunch, crunch. Every step forward was another step toward an empty hope that maybe, just maybe, they would catch their break.     Kyo stopped, and the rest of the group paused after seeing his sudden halt. “You see something, Kyo?” Lee asked.     “Yes.” Kyo pointed forward, his finger slightly trembling as he raised it.     The teens looked toward the direction Kyo faced. They could not believe their eyes. The tattered, brown cloth. A large block for a base; a pedestal of some sort. The humanoid figure, hunched over and facing their direction. This was it.     “SCREW THAT!” Lucho cried, and took off running in the opposite direction back toward town. Lee and Tulio bolted after, yelling for Kyo to run.     “NOPE, NOPE, NOPE!” Lee bellowed. “Come on, Kyo!”     Kyo was frozen in place. The adrenaline-fueled adventurer inside him wanted to confront the object or person. But, the teen geek knew he was just a schoolboy with no magical powers. He possessed nothing that would protect him from whatever this person might do. Perhaps it was Flint pulling his prank? Or, an ill person bent on causing mental or physical harm. Whatever it was, Kyo did not want to find out anymore. And so, he ran.     Kyo hurdled over stumps, dodged trees, and sped as fast as he could. He caught up with his friends, who stopped to catch their breaths.     Lucho was the first to speak. “I’ll be damned, that thing is real!”     “Did anyone get a picture?” Lee frantically asked.     “I don’t think anyone was thinking of taking its portrait at that moment,” Tulio said, still breathing heavily. “Kyo, what happened!”     “I don’t know!” Kyo responded, his mind racing as he laid his eyes upon his friends. “But we had it! We actually had it! Whatever it was!”     “Could anyone tell if it was a person?” Lucho asked the group.     “It looked like a statue to me!” Lee said.     Silence fell over the group. Their breath was quick, and was the only sound that filled the forest after the running and yelling that just took place.      “We have to go back,” Kyo said. The others wanted to disagree, but knew they had to return to it if they were going to accomplish their goal of solving the statue mystery.     “Yes, but not like this,” Tulio said, now calm and collected.     “For sure,” Kyo said. “We have to protect ourselves in case someone planted it there and is trying to lure us.”     “That’s right,” Tulio said. “And some rope or a large wheel barrow so we can drag it back to town.”     “We’re definitely going to need something to roll it on,” Lee said. “I know the four of us together can’t drag that back.”     “Let’s just go back to Ashburn,” Kyo said. “We’ll come up with a plan after lunch.”     “Dude, I forgot it’s time to eat!” Lucho said. “Sorry I wussed out there, you guys. I thought it was a person ready to jump out at us. And if it was Flint, his buddies could’ve easily been waiting to get us from another direction.”     “Don’t sweat it, bro,” Lee said. “I thought the same thing after what you told us before.”     The teens agreed they needed to better prepare for a possible confrontation with either their school bully or the transportation of the statue back into town. So they swiftly made their way back into Ashburn, where noon had passed and the sun was well over its halfway mark in the sky. Back in town, they walked to Lucho’s house, whose home was closest to where they entered Rivet Forest.      Lucho’s mother served the group a heavy, spicy meal, food the teens were thankful for as they loved her delicious Mexican cooking. Bellies full, they rendezvoused upstairs in Lucho’s bedroom. With the image of the statue burned into their minds, they found relief to be in the comfort of a home inside the populous town.     “If we can nab this thing, it’ll be better than catching Bigfoot!” Tulio started. “Or if it really is just some punk, we can expose them.”     “My pops has a wheel barrow we might be able to use,” Lee said. “But that thing looked ginormous! I don’t know if we’d be able to make it work.”     “We could figure it out,” Kyo said. “It wouldn’t fit in there, but maybe we can find a wooden pallet or something similar to lay on top. That would make for a flat surface covering a larger surface area. The only trouble with it is just lifting it up.”     “Maybe we can drag it, though,” Lucho said. “Depending on how heavy it is, of course. But we could lay some cardboard underneath so it’s not dragging against roots and whatnot.”     “Navigating all the trees would be difficult,” Kyo said. “Even hauling this stuff around, when we don’t know exactly where we saw the statue, would be tough.”     “Okay, what if it is some people messing around?” Tulio asked. “Video?”     “For sure, video!” Lee said. “We should Facebook Live it, too, so they won’t snatch the phone from us and delete whatever we record.”     “And if they try to kick our asses?” Lucho asked. “Kyo, if you got some great kung fu skills that you haven’t told us about, now would be the time to let us know, bud.”     “They’d be idiotic to touch us while recording,” Kyo said. “If they’re pranksters, they’d be in it just for the laughs. Flint and his buds? Idiots, but even they wouldn’t go that far to hurt their reputations any further.”     “And if it’s a murderer acting alone?” Tulio asked. The group fell silent for a moment. “Hey, someone had to suggest it. We could all get gunned down right there!”     “Damn it, you got a point,” Lucho said. “Well, most likely a murderer would be acting alone. There’s four of us, one of them. I really hope it’s just a statue, though.”     “We all do,” Kyo assured Lucho. “Best case scenario, it’s an artifact or statue of a war hero or something. It was hard to tell with the cloak. But, we have to make sure we don’t freak out again.”     “How about this, guys,” Lee said. “Let’s assume pranksters. We go for a stroll, catch them on video, and done! If it’s a real statue, we’ll take the time to observe very carefully to figure out the best way to bring it back. If we don’t think we can, we might as well call the people at the museum and they’ll send a crew out to get it. Of course, we won’t get the full credit.”     “That sounds good to me, Lee,” Lucho said.     “I agree,” Tulio said. “We should still bring something just in case. I’ve got a BB pistol I can bring. I know it isn’t much, but it’ll sting the balls off whoever wants to pull some funny business.”     “My mom has a stun flashlight I can swipe,” Lucho said. “If we’re going back today, we’re going to need light anyway.”     “Do you all want to go back today?” Lee asked. “I mean, I’m down, but I ain’t down to be stalked by a bear or something at night. Plus, that was a long walk!”     “We took our time walking, and the bears stay far away from people, so don’t worry,” Kyo said. “We should go soon, then, before it gets too dark when we turn around.”     “Let’s do this, broskis!” Lucho said, hopping up from his beanbag seat. “Let me just swing by my mom’s room real quick. Then we’ll go to Tulio’s house.”     Kyo, Lee, Tulio, and Lucho set on their quest to retrieve the items they needed for their second confrontation. This time, they were feeling as brave as when they first set out. House by house, they obtained their minimal equipment. Their parents believed the teens were playing video games at each other’s home. Instead, they marched back to Rivet Forest, determined to uncover the mystery of the statue that sparked national attention; a mystery that far outweighed the case of two missing high school sophomores from the small town of Ashburn Valley.

Proctor Valley Road Monster - Chula Vista CA

The Proctor Valley Monster is one of the most heard of urban legends in Californias east county. The story started when Chula Vista residents began noticing a high volume of livestock mutilations around the Proctor road area. Residents began stipulating what could be leaving these half eaten corpses in the valley. Some believed that it was coyotes, others believed that it was the leftovers from a secret occult ritual but most people believed that it was something “not of this world”.

In the early 1960’s a story began circulating about a young couple that would rendezvous at a quiet spot on Proctor road. One evening the couple’s car broke down and the young man stepped out of the car to investigate. The young female began to get worried and when he didn’t return to the vehicle she locked all of the doors. Too scared to get out of the car, because of the loud scratching noises on the roof, she sat there until daybreak. Once the young couple’s parents realized they were missing they began searching the surrounding areas. As police approached the vehicle they were disturbed to find the young man, hanging by his feet from a tree. His fingers had been scratching the roof of the car all night while his girlfriend was locked inside.

From that day on, more and more stories about Proctor road have been coming forward.

Some residents say that they’ve seen a creature that looks like Bigfoot, some claim to have seen a 6 foot, hairy monster with the head of a cow. The Proctor road monster is not the only goings on in this small community. More recent stories claim that there is a “Demon car” driving up and down Proctor road. Witnesses claim that they were “chased by a black mass with bright headlights”. Once they drove off of the dirt path, back onto the paved street the “Demon car” would turn around and drive back up the street.

If Demon cars, bigfoot, and unsolved murders don’t keep you away, maybe the screaming banshee and the ghost hitchhikers will. Either way, SoCal Paranormal will be checking this location out in the near future and reporting back on our experiences.
