Yes, my final #pedalpalooza ride! Meet at P's and Q's (NE 13th Ave and NE Dekum St) at 6:30 PM tomorrow, Thursday June 29. We depart at 7. We ride approximately 5 miles to a mystery picnic destination. Get supplies at P's and Q's (or elsewhere.) Keep it classy: Dress up a bit and think of fancy (but not necessarily spendy) things to eat and drink. Don't forget your picnic blanket! Heading across the Salisbury Viaduct. This bridge, part of the Great Allegheny Passage, crosses over the Casselman River, farmland, expressways and roads. It is 1908' long, over 1/3 of a mile. Built in 1912 by the Western Maryland Railway it was later decommissioned in 1975. A few shots from yesterday's early Fall ride on the Westmoreland Heritage Trail, starting in Saltzburg, PA, through Slicksville and ending at the western terminus near Dalton. October 10, 2020. Note the hedgehog-looking fungi on the side of the tree. My first impression while riding past it was, "Hedgehog face!" It even has the fringy outline. Whatever the species, it's definitely face-like in appearance. The napping pig is part of a larger family that we've been watching grow over the years, in numbers and girth. So far no piggies have gone to market.
