hello can we just take one moment to appreciate bianca di angelo 😌

Bianca Di Angelo gets a lot of hate because she chose to join the Hunters. I just wanted to point out a few things. At the start of the Titan’s Curse, Bianca is described as ‘wearing a green floppy hat, like she was trying to hide her face.’ This indicates she had low self esteem/self confidence. Later in the book, she no longer wears her green hat and is more confident. Joining the Hunters helped her self esteem and made her feel a lot more comfortable with herself. It made her happy. No one should have to feel like they have to forgo their sense of self for anyone. 

She didn’t abandon him. She only agreed to join the Hunt once Artemis and Zoe said that she would be able to visit her brother. When she was talking to Percy she said that she felt Nico would be safe at Camp Half Blood because she thought they were good people (particularly Percy). If she actually abandoned him, she wouldn’t have needed the extra persuasion and she wouldn’t have thought about whether Nico would be safe and surrounded by good people. She loved Nico very much but she needed to find out who she was without having to be Nico’s sole caretaker. She was happier when she joined the Hunt and she deserved to be happy after forgoing her childhood to look after her brother. She always put Nico first and the one time she tried to do something for herself, to make herself happy, she becomes one of the most hated characters in the fandom.

In the Lightning Thief, Percy leaves his mother in the underworld because he knows it’s what she would of wanted and that she would understand. We never once say Percy abandoned his mother. And you know why we don’t? Because he didn’t abandon her. Bianca didn’t abandon her brother either. They may not be the same situation but they are similar. Bianca knew her brother would eventually understand. She knew that he would want her to be happy. 

I just think she deserves a lot more appreciation from the fandom.
