The DS fandom has said Caitha is a “purified” Velka for so long that it’s so refreshing to hear ideas/hcs outside of that take. Like let Caitha be her own character people, cmon. #feminism.

She’s called the mother of the forlorn by Gael, so maybe she was a less violent version of Friede skfjd. Although ironically, the Anglicized version of her name sounds closest to the Gaelic name “Caith” which MEANS battlefield xDD

But ALSO you've sent this ask at the exact minute in the middle of me typing about being salty with the Wiki fsdhhsd Are we in sync? Like, I was double-checking Wiki for something and wanted to complain about this bit:

For starters; the 'Clutch' type of rings increase magical, lightning, fire and dark damage indiscriminatory. So, they increase all kinds of nonphysical damage known to people at the DS2 times: magic, miracles, pyromancy and hexes! And they ALL mention Velka(?):

Singling out Dark version in particular in the Wiki's page will of course create a certain impression, but really! Being indiscriminatory is Velka's whole thing!

The context is also different! Caitha was believed to be evil! Maybe because of her affiliation with darkness, maybe because she leans towards grief and tragedy (and "tears are the most beautiful near death"), maybe both!

Meanwhile, Clutch Rings just say that whereas origin of the ring is not known the shape suggests an evil deity! Which is kind of fair by internal logic to call Velka that for merely being associated with the Occult and Sin; it is the same setting that calls Priscilla 'an abomination and an enemy to all living' despite her being one of the very few objectively likeable people in Dark Souls world! Fromsoft used to use description that follow perspectives of people IN the setting rather than "death of the author" more often!

Now, as for the Scythe part:

These are the symbols 忌み they're talking about! But also, if you examine several other descriptions:

As you can see, these symbols do not have a specific connotation with the crow monsters! This is just a generic term for those who are loathed within this setting and whom nobody commonly wants to do anything with!

Velka was never known to be a patron saint of those who everyone rejected, her thing is to take justified revenge on the behalf of those done unfairly and it can include anyone, not just the Bullied Kids of the setting! On the other hand, Caitha is specifically known to be compassionate and seek to comfort those in crisis and pain! At the same time, Caitha herself is connected with death and dragons, making her have resemblance (if not relation) to Priscilla! I feel like if there was a clear intention from the devs, it is most likely to imply that Gael would get easily confused and swayed by similarities?

Like I know you guys have confirmation bias to prove that Caitha is not a real character of her own, but come on ;-; I will pretend that the determination to have one less interesting female character in the setting is valid (good joke right Crow? XDDDD), but some of the "proofs" of that theory are so obviously picked with a clear wish to prove something rather than to get to the bottom of the issue!

actually a big problem i have with romantic tacopad is that people don't even get them platonically. people don't really care about them on a platonic aspect and it shows. ouhhhh yeah yeah you like them kissing but do you actually get their thing outside of that???? do you get why mepad wants to help her? why he cares about her? why they actually work? and also do you care about mepad as a character? i think you just want to kiss taco and project onto the guy like no WAY everyone just suddenly likes tacopad because they actually get the ship

I have seen people mock the style of the prose as too homestuck adjacent and clearly written by someone who also writes fic. First of all I'm like...if you hate those things so much, I've got bad news for you about 75% of the queer sff getting written these days! I think it's actually fair not to enjoy that style but I do also notice the lines people usually point to are either silly gideon navisms which you either find endearing or you don't but they're clearly a character choice, not a feature of the basic narration of the series. OR they're melodramatic lines spoken by necromancers and cavaliers about each other which I think sometimes people mistake as the author trying to be straightforwardly romantic versus portraying the dramatic emotions of these young queer people who are genuinely not okay + the ways their society is set up to require this kind of over the top devotion from them. Tazmuir does have fun with the drama and I love that about her writing but it's a more thoughtful choice than it might appear at first glance, imo

Why do you rank Crocodile so highly on your list?

1.) Oda even admitted he came into the series too early.

Just the other day, i saw someone on Twatter claim that Azure Moon was a conceptually bad idea for a route because it's main point is that revenge is always bad, but then it ends with Dimitri taking revenge on Edelgard and being rewarded for it; that seems like a ridiculously reductive way of interpreting Azure Moon's message imo.

Dimitri wants to spare Supreme Leader and she's the one who keeps on rejecting his offer, both at the parley and when her dagger slips from her hand to lodge itself in his shoulder.

He's not killing her for his personal revenge anymore in AM, she fights to her death.

I guess those X people refuse to consider that her end in AM is the result her decision or her IdEaLs pushed to the extreme, there's no place for mercy, it's kill or die when Dimitri is offering her a way out.

In  order  to  maximize  the  safety,  comfort,  and  well-being  of  site  personnel,  Site-φ  has  been  outfitted  with  various  amenities  to  promote  an  active  lifestyle  for  all  staff  members.  One  of  the  most  popular  features  provided  to  the  employees  housed  at  Site-φ's  facility  is  the  Walking  Club:  a  pack  of  eight  exceptionally  intelligent  dogs  who  patrol  the  designated  walking  trail  set  up  by  the  Foundation  around  the   ██████  Mountains.  Both  Site  Director  Buckley  Osterholz  and  Wellness  Counselor  J.  Oyuun  highly recommend that  the  newly  formed  MTF  Chi-00  become  acquainted  with  the  Walking  Club.  Any  operative  in  Chi-00  who  has  concerns  about  potential  allergic  reactions  to  the  Walking  Club  can  rest  assured  that  all  of  the  members  are  hypoallergenic.  Yes,  all  of  them.

BACKGROUND.

The  Site-φ  Walking  Club  was  first  founded  on  January  21st,  1999  after  two  researchers,  Dr.  Forsyth  and  Dr.  Gustav,  became  lost  in  the  ██████  Mountains  when  an  unexpected  blizzard  hit  the  area  while  they  were  on  a  recreational  hike.  Although  the  Foundation  employed  extreme  measures  to  locate  the  researchers,  efforts  to  find  them  were  hindered  by  the  weather.  Many  feared  the  harsh  conditions  would  claim  the  lives  of  Forsyth  and  Gustav,  if  they  hadn't  already  succumbed  to  the  elements. 

As  the  rescue  search  became  desperate,  Director  Osterholz  coordinated  with  search-and-rescue  teams  from  the  nearby  town  of  Hōuston  who  were  more  familiar  with  the  terrain  of  the  ██████  Mountains.  This  decision  ended  up  saving  the  lives  of  both  researchers  as  in  the  26th  hour,  a  patrol  officer's  intrepid  German  Shepherd,  Tutu,  broke  away  from  her  handler  and  rushed  out  into  the  wilderness.  A  few  hours  later,  Tutu,  along  with  Forsyth  and  Gustav,  were  discovered  at  a  Foundation  security  post  30  miles  to  the  west  of  the  area  they  had  gone  missing  in.  For  her  bravery,  Tutu  was  given  the  honorary  title  of  Lead  Rescuer  and  a  thick  striploin  steak  by  Director  Osterholz.

However,  the  question  on  just  how  Tutu  was  about  to  locate  the  two  missing  researchers  and  then  bring  them  back  to  Site-φ  baffled  Foundation  personnel.  They  requested  permission  to  study  the  canine.  Director  Osterholz  organized  a  mock  photoshoot  with  Tutu  and  her  handler  for  the  biweekly  site  newsletter  where  researchers  were  able  to  perform  a  handful  of  tests.  The  investigation  and  subsequent  attempts  to  recreate  the  findings  brought  to  attention  that  some  dogs  transported  to  Site-φ  could  become  hyper-intelligent  (HI).

The exact why and how of these anomalous dogs continues to elude the Foundation. However, the  following  results  have  been  replicated  with  enough  frequency  that  the  Lead  Researcher  on  HI-dogs,  Dr.  Forsyth,  was able  to  make  these  proven  observations  for  all  canines  that  fall  under  the  HI  category:   

While  unable  to  communicate  outside  of  regular  canine  vocalizations  and  body  language,  they  are  able  to  understand  basic  human  conversations  to at  least  the  level  of  a  10-year-old  human  child;  and  while  their  ability  to  understand  written  language  is  still  quite  limited,  further  experimentation  has  shown  that  they  can  be  trained  to  associate  certain  keywords  and  phrases  with  their  meanings.

It  is  unclear  if  they  truly  understand  these  concepts  at  a  human  level,  as  HI-dogs have also demonstrated intensified versions of otherwise standard canine behaviors.  For  example,  HI-dogs  form  "packs"  with  no  more  than  8  members,  and  these  groups  can  become  extremely  competitive,  territorial,  and  jealous  if  allowed  to  cohabit  the  same  10  mile  radius.  Additionally,  these  negative  reactions  are  not  only  limited  to  other  HI-dogs,  but  any  and  every  "pet"  onsite.  As  all  HI-dogs  have  shown  an  innate  understanding  of  the  area  around  Site-φ and the  ██████  Mountains  without  being  shown  or  taught  from  a  map,  Director  Osterholz  determined  that  for  the  continued  safety  of  site  personnel  all  other  non-essential  animals  would  be  banned  from  the  facility.  Though  this  decision  was  controversial  at  the  time,  the  Walking  Club  quickly  won  the  heart  of  staff  personnel.

MEMBERSHIP.

Any  member  of  Chi-00  interested  in  joining  The  Walking  Club  should  be  aware  that  group  walks  take  place  at  12:00  PM  with  all  members  of  the  club  setting  off  in  batches  based  on  how  many  people  show  up  on  a  particular  day.  However,  early  morning,  late  afternoon,  and  night  tours  are  available  via  sign-up.  Please  be  advised  that  signing  up  for  a  tour  does  not  guarantee  a  spot  as  the  dogs  pick  and  choose  those  they  would  like  to  walk  with. 

Furthermore,  not  all  dogs  run  together.  It  is  recommended  to  request  one  dog  at  a  time  during  sign-ups,  unless  you  are  aware  of  the  interdoggy  relationships  within  the  Walking  Club.  There  are  unconfirmed  rumors  that  if  someone  were  to  walk  in  the  Walking  Club's  "shoes,"  they  may  be  able  to  become  popular  with  all  the  members  and  request  any  member(s)  for  private  walks,  regardless  of  doggy  drama.

However,  if  you  do  not  wish  to  join  the  Walking  Club  and  go  off  on  the  trails  yourself,  don't  be  alarmed  when  a  group  of  dogs  appear  out  of  nowhere  from  the  bushes!  The  Walking  Club  also  somehow  innately  knows  when  anyone  is  walking  alone  in  the  Mountains.  They  endeavor  to  join  any  human  if  they  are  able,  as  it  is  part  of  their  Membership  Rules. 

As  the  Walking  Club  has  a  social  structure  of  their  own,  members  have  joined  and  left  throughout  the  years.  Currently,  the  Walking  Club  is  in  its  third  generation,  led  by  Tutu's  granddaughter,  RADAR.

MEMBERSHIP RULES.

The  Walking  Club  Membership  Rules  are  on  a  poster  located  in  the  Main  Base's  Third  Floor,  on  a  bulletin  board  next  to  Corner  Coffee.  The  poster  is  a  8.5"x11"  sheet  of  white  printer  paper,  and  the  rules  are  typed  in  16pt  Times  New  Roman  font.
