Each unplanned idea will be in character order of when I first created them.

Levi

There's a lot with Levi when I first made him. At first there wasn't a proper backstory for him other than that he was a traumatized guy.

Levi was already arrested in his backstory before, so my whole goal with him was to get him arrested again and sent back to prison.

This would have triggered a rescue mission, or a prison escape (in my head I made Sayaka and Oscar go save him)

On the same topic of rescuing Levi, I have this old idea I played in my head where Levi was supposed to be kidnapped by this ability user that had the power to trap people in this video game. Bro Levi would have been in a little cage like Princess Peach.

If Levi was ever brought back to prison I would have created a little headspace segment for him (kinda like omori)

Ross

At first, Ross wasn't supposed to be a military captain. Instead, he was going to be some doctor to kidnap Levi back for experiments. This was changed to fit the backstory more.

Ross and Levi were supposed to have this big fight at one point.

And Ross was supposed to die by Levi finally killing him but in a bitter sweet goodbye.

Dr. Ikari

He was supposed to be the more cold doctor, but instead, he gave a more "I don't give a crap attitude."

He was going to help capture Levi, only to calm him down.

Nothing much about him other than a potential death.

Cooper

Oh boy, there is so much for Cooper.

At first, Cooper wasn't going to be brought back entirely. All because the og Cooper was dead and it would have ruined some of Levi's character development. So instead, I made this Cooper from a different universe.

At first, I was going to have him wander around and ask multiple people, "Are you my master?" But on the first one with Shibusawa, I had him settle with him for a long time.

He was almost gay or bi, but I gave him a female love interest. (Also his "love" for Shibusawa was more so a obsession than actual love.)

Big one‼️ Cooper at one point before he killed X, was going to go back to X. Either through by getting fired or just plain manipulation.

There were going to be multiple times in which he got kidnapped but those never happened.

At one point, he was going to snap, but that never happened as well.

Richard Connell

He was going to be more of an evil, bad guy with a god complex. Now he silly.

Fiona Delgado

She was created to flirt with an older version of Shibusawa. That never happened.

She was supposed to work at a normal boring job but I changed it to be the Port Mafia.

Hunter

Was going to die, never happened.

He was going to be a cool priest, but now he works for the Special Operations Division.

Dr. Paul

Was supposed to hunt down every vampire and try to kill then all.

Perhaps give him a potential love interest in which the irony of it is that the love interest is a vampire.

Felix

He was supposed to be more angry and charming, but he's just some goofy guy who yells at his rival and is actually a lot more friendly.

He was supposed to be ability-less but him having a cool sword as his ability sounded cool.

At one point, Lance (from Prime Softwares) was going to change Felix's "programming" and make him go on a murder rampage. Possibly a really intense boss fight with X.

Lance was supposed to die (he's barely alive but he's alive)

Lance and Grian were supposed to have this discussion and Lance would have threaten to deactivate Grian.

At one point, Grian would have completed a mission, but Lance would deactivate him anyways for a more new and improved model.

So Grian was almost a box of scraps for anyone to take.

The whole thing with the androids was to learn how to fuse ability user's blood into androids so androids could have said ability from the user. Basically weapons.

Because Lance wanted to take over the world with these androids.

At one point Grian was going to turn on Lance and attack Lance instead.

what do you think of acxa and veronica?? both as separate characters and as a ship

i love them dearly!! i do think acxa was insanely interesting as a character when she was introduced even though it came at the cost of hunk’s strange comments LMFAO and the whole odd attempt to imply she was into keith or whatever 😞 her design could use some tweaking imo but all around pretty decent

i also think veronica is pretty neat!! i wish we got to see her more as i love her design and i remember really loving her voice i think !! also she gave us the iconic dinner date scene where she admits she’s interested in keith which derails lance entirely, i wish they also explored that more, not because i ship them (the opposite in fact) but i just would’ve loved to see how it’d pan out with lance being pissed off and keith being.. keith, the fruity autistic man he is, they could’ve ended off as solid friends imo </3

as for the ship itself!! i like them i think? i haven’t given it too much thought due to them not having much screen time unfortunately 😞 i remember thinking the few interactions they did have as super cute and sweet

nope! I was gonna be named gráinne after my great gran but then my parents saw 'sorcha' and liked that

2. When was the last time you cried?

I've been crying all week because of allergies, maybe? but like proper crying maybe 2 weeks ago? I have no concept of time but yeah Uni is super stressful so i've had a few stress cries recently

3. Do you have kids?

nope, and tbh the chance of me getting pregnant are super low so that'll probably stay a no

4. What sports do you play/have you played?

yes, so many. Hurling/Camogie (you should check this out its so cool, its a 3000 year old sport and played at an insane speed, the top level is still amateur), one singular day of Gaelic football (i was beyond bad, turns out i needed glasses lmao), swimming, rounders, and finally the loml Archery. I needed to keep busy as a child 😅😅

their facial expression, trying to see how they're feeling, where is their attention at (lowkey this is a trauma thing)

Embroidery! I love it and am very annoyed that I don't have the time for it right now with all that's going on with uni :( I have a lance triptych that i need to finish and hopefully i'll get that started after august.

I've also gotten back into reading, fiction that is, I have spent an inordinate amount of time reading scholarly stuff, so if anyone has recommendations please share, Lance nation bookclub let's go

YES! my sweet baby boy Bobby. I say baby he turned 13 in February so he's getting up there, he's a beagle and a cuddle monster. I love him to bits, he follows me everywhere, sits on my feet to be as close as possible and perfected the puppy dog eyes a long time ago (insert pictures here when i get to my phone)

easily History, I went on a did it college and am currently doing a masters in museum studies so you will not be getting me away from the old stuff. We had an amazing history teacher in secondary school, @f1-disaster-bi can attest to that and she was super encouraging and really nurtured the love of history I had so yeah, making it my job

15. Dream job?

yeah so like i said above i'm doing museum studies at the minute so the dream is the work in a museum. I'd love to work in the education side of museums, sort of a pay it forward vibe with the love of history, outreach programmes and museum events that kind of thing.

omg hi hi!! i love you so much for asking this and im sorry for turning this ask into an infodump. definite spoilers for the shapeshifter below.

ok so my favourite character is lisa probably bc shes iconic and her instincts when something goes wrong is just to attack. either verbally or physically. also her backstory is so sad??? like she predicts someones about to die but she doesnt know thats what her visions mean (bc her visions are very cryptic and she was like 10 at the time) so she only realised when the girl died and then blamed herself?? like what??? these books are so dark for a kids series. i think she deserved a gun and also to say fuck. i really love her relationship with dax also theyre just so cute. like she'll by fully attacking someone and he's like :). isnt she so pretty :). theyre a bi4bi power couple i just know it.

also she fully had a doomed wlw situationship with mia and i fear we dont talk about it enough. mia was fully in love with her both before and after she went evil. like they very much gave cherik for a hot moment there. actually now that i'm thinking about it shapeshifters is very x men coded. so yeah im never getting over lisa and mia but i do love her and dax so im not mad.

MIA OH MY GOD. I LOVE MIA SO MUCH. never before has someone so deserved their villain arc. she's like morgana. i LOVED the subversion of her being the sweet healer-y type and then going batshit insane with her healer powers. like kinda using them for...nefarious purposes shall we say. she's still very sweet she's just very cunty and evil now.

i also love alice especially in the last book bc. shes just a kid. her mother's shit. stepmom neglected dax and smothered alice while never actuallly listening to her wants and needs. and their fathers never there. i wish we had gotten to see alice and dax bond more over their shitty parents. they could have been the best sibling duo. also shes badass and she would have loved wearing pink to see barbie (2023).

gideon for me is one of those characters who is so into women it just wraps around into him being gay. he's like lance mcclain to me. he deserved a boyfriend. also i think he's bi (i think everyone's bi. i don't think there's a single straight character in these books. minus mr grey). i love gideon he's so mecore. he's also traumatised!!! and he has a twin brother and an evil twin sister who's thirteen and ripped out her brother's tongue.

on the subject of gid's evil twin sister she is SUCH an interesting character to me. like obviously i hate catherine but she's so fascinating. her power means she can never stay with someone for too long or she'll end up killing them. she never has her own likes or hobbies or talents- she borrows someone elses because she feels herself isnt good enough. she crucified a man. she's killed three adoptive mothers. sort of on purpose. she just wants to be loved. she drowned an entire school with a massive tidal wave after leeching their powers. she was killed with fire. she was french for a while. she's perpetually thirteen years old.

i love the series as a whole but i think it had so much potential to be more. it was already pretty dark (windmill scene. need i say more) but it was technically a teen fantasy series, and i feel if they committed to a YA age rating and went all out with the horror and the very clear 'fuck the government' theme that was present throughout the whole series it could have been amazing. i have so many ideas for these books and what they could have done (note i love the books so much as they are but god. what we could have had if they weren't technically kids books).

also just realised i forgot to talk abt owen!!! gay father figure of our hearts. he accidentally adopts a bunch of motherless children and then he commits to it for the rest of his life. he canonically faked his death to live in a cave in spain with his superpowered male best friend. he's killed quite a few people.

this is the end of the Yap. in conclusion none of these characters are either normal or know how to function in society. i love these books. theyre like xmen and harry potter combined. but no jk rowling so win

📃(SAF)- (exploding many times) I’m going to try and keep this most vague and spoiler free because I’m assuming from the nature of the ask you have not seen SAF and I hope you do

Spies Are Forever is a satirical spy comedy musical about Agent Curt Mega (played by Curt Mega). While it is a comedy the show is extremely tragic and touching in a way that has haunted me since I first saw it several years ago. It both parodies and subverts spy movie tropes, and subtly bakes historical context and Cold War politics into the foundation of the show. It’s also extremely and undeniably queer. I guess I’ll take a vague non spoilery plot description from the creators (the Tin Can Bros) themselves: Agent Curt Mega finds himself thrust into the shadows of Cold War politics as he works to foil a plot to rebuild the Nazi empire. Along the way, Agent Mega must tango with a Russian femme fatale, waltz around a black market arms dealer, and samba through a horde of outrageous characters.

🎥- I adore many many scenes the ones that haunt me the most/I think about the most are the ending scene of Mayhem On A Cross, the scene with Hodgela after Brennan and Hodgins almost get buried alive, the interrogation where Booth hits the abusive dad in the Signs In the Silence, the scene between Sweets and Caroline Julian in The Bullet in the Brain, the “people lie but bones always tell the truth” scene in the signs in the silence, the reveal that Zack was Gormogon’s apprentice, the reveal that he didn’t kill anyone (rare Zack Sweets interaction) and the dance party Sweets Booth and Brennan have (I’m capping it here I just really love so many scenes- can u tell I love angst)

💕- Because I’ve talked about Zack a lot (incessantly) I’ll talk more about my #2 Blorbo Dr. Lance Sweets! I love Sweets so much he’s so silly and dear to me. My feelings about him are much less articulate and thought out than Zack but he’s just so endearing and entertaining. Like he’s such a goober. I’m fascinated by the implications and importance of him being a psychologist. I love the way his history of trauma is written and acted it’s really important to me for personal reasons. He is also such a vital figure in a lot of the characters lives and just Aughh. Idk I wish I had more articulate thoughts to add other than just incoherent screaming and love

You know I'm still in denial about the ending of Voltron Allura should have lived, Lotor should have been a good guy, Lance and Keith should have ended up together.

Like come on Allura should have had the chance to be queen and rule New Altea she should have have the chance to enjoy the universe that she helped save.

Lotor should have been a good guy. Like he should have been the embodiment of what the Galra were before their Emperor and empress where corrupted. And having him and Allura be friends or even romantic partners would have been a symbol of unity to the rest of the universe. Like he defeated his father and took over the empire and together with the last of the Alteans he was righting the wrongs done by his father.

And come on Keith and Lance had the classic rivals to friends trope it wouldn't have been difficult to and one more step and make it rivals to friends to lovers. They dropped the ball with this one. I read somewhere that the show gave us a gay character but they made the wrong character gay, meaning that a lot of people would have been ok with Shiro being straight (and with Allura) and Keith being gay (with BI Lance).

And what the hell did they do to Lance!?!? Like someone who was so full of life and passion was just a shell of a person by the end of it? No way I absolutely hate what they did to him. He loved space, loved to explore and yea he missed his home and family but to make him be basically grounded and rarely leave the planet after everything he did to save the universe was just wrong.

I like that Shiro was gay it was different but did they have to make him lose Adam before he got a chance to see him again? Like that's fucked up. The writers kept using Shiro as a punching bag in this series. Also side note I would have been ok with Shiro and Allura getting together like they had the whole parental vibe to them and Shiro being the black lion and Allura bonding with the white lion it made sense that they would have been a good pair. But also I kinda liked the Shiro and Matt Holt ship. Like the fact that Shiro did everything he could to keep Matt safe was so sweet I wouldn't have minded if the ended up together.

Idk that's just my rant I watched the show in March of 2020 so I was not a part of the fandom while the show was on air so I wasn't around for the craziness of the shipping. I heard it was bad that a lot of fans left the fandom because of how toxic it was.

I DONT REMEMBER WHAT THE TIME WAS i love doomsday talk lets go

gabriel murphy was born to a catholic family and raised practically in church as soon as he was old enough to go. the bible was always drilled into him from the start, that homosexuality was a sin but love thy neighbor and whatever. he always suppressed his feelings, in fear of god and for being found out, in fear of being seen. when he was 14, he met another boy! a cute boy who was “experimenting” (he was bi lol) who went to the same rundown catholic private school as gabriel. and he encouraged gabe to be himself, encouraged gabe to love himself and express himself, and they were essentially secret boyfriends for a few months. up until a nun caught them sneaking out together, and they were promptly separated, their families informed, wrists slapped and wounded until they renounced anything they felt for each other. gabe was sent (very unwillingly) to a conversion therapy camp the week after, the shame of his family (which were also the cause of his blind eye lol his parents were extremely unhappy with him), where he was very crudely basically tortured for months, including shock therapy (hence the nickname sparks lol. it’s his way of reclaiming what happened to him).

when he was 15, he couldn’t take the abuse anymore and, under the cover of a storm, escapes the facility. his family wouldn’t accept him back, he couldn’t go back to that boy who rejected him, and he certainly couldn’t go back to church. so he essentially just? lived on his own since then — got a job, one room apartment in chicago, joined the public school system (though his teachers were generally understanding of his predicament and weren’t too hard on him) (he also met parker and tyler there (they bullied him for being gay bc they were psychotically repressed)). he eventually met nix and arin in chicago too, grew to be the caretaker he never got to have to the both of them. he also meets conner at coldstone and they hit it off!! conners really sweet to sparks and makes him incredibly happy :)

the apocalypse starts, and sparks fully jumps into overprotective mode. he doesn’t know if arin is safe since arin had moved to ohio by then, though he knows arin can take care of himself, so he just keeps himself and nix in chicago, making do with what they could scavenge. conner dies sorry conner. sparks won’t let himself acknowledge that, he just overworks himself while nix worries about him. after years pass, chicago (along with every other major city) is essentially unlivable, with no resources or available space without danger, so sparks and nix head east, eventually running into tucker and his group and hitching a ride with them. by the time they get to sycamore (arins og town) its essentially abandoned, and by the time they reach bexley it’s been destroyed, so they just… head back the way they came, and go north. they run into max and his group eventually and hang out with them for a few days.

a few years later, nix dies. and sparks freaks the fuck out. he’d already lost his family, his boyfriend, he had no idea if arin was okay, and now nix? he was losing everybody. so he does the only thing he knows how to do and he runs. probably runs into sophie, jay, dani, maybe lance in the meantime, no one knows. the days blur together and he’s essentially just existing through it, too scared to take his own life in fear of god’s punishment for running (religious trauma hardcore), too tired to do anything else. he manages to make it to a safehouse near the end of the apocalypse where he meets tyler (again) and they somehow recognize each other despite the years passing. and they fall in love, sparks patient with tylers frankly horrific trauma, night terrors and his religious baggage, and tyler who just wants to be loved despite it all. sparks is the only person tyler trusts with himself, and vice versa. they spend the rest of their lives together :)

I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY (2022)

Whitney Houston had a fascinating, exciting, tragic, complex life. There is a whole lot of stuff that went on in her life – both the highs and the lows – probably more than can be explored in a movie. Even a relatively long two-and-a-half-hour movie.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody rushes through the years; the accomplishments, the dramas, the scandals, the complications and the early death of arguably the defining singing voice of her generation, giving the film the feel of a greatest hits medley. However, many of those hits are pretty terrific, so it’s often very entertaining. You just never feel like you’re getting the whole song.

Interestingly, I Wanna Dance With Somebody seems to revolve around a single performance of Houston’s – a live medley of “I Loves You Porgy” “And I’m Telling You That I’m Not Going” and “I Have Nothing” which she did on the 1994 American Music Awards. The film starts and ends on the performance, and also mentions it several times throughout the run of the film as proof that Houston was the greatest voice of her time.

I’m not going to lie, I’ve never heard of this particular performance, and while it was stunningly performed (the film uses Houston’s vocals over the lip syncing by star Naomi Ackie) I’m not sure it was the most memorable performance in Houston’s career, not by a long shot.

And that is what I Wanna Dance With Somebody does best – reminding us of Houston’s music and performances, all with newly remixed and powerful sound.

Actress Ackie does a terrific job in portraying the different eras of Houston’s life – recreating performances, capturing her cadences and attitudes (although she doesn’t exactly look like Houston) and capturing her highs and lows.

It falls into a pretty standard music biofilm structure – the rise and fall of a terrific performer, from obscurity to the top of the world, touching on many milestones and showing the temptations of great fame.

As an officially sanctioned biofilm, I Wanna Dance With Somebody slightly pulls its punches on some of the darker aspects of her life. For example, they toy with the longtime gossip that Houston was gay or bi, and possibly involved with her longtime best friend Robin (Nafessa Williams), teasing the possibility of a relationship – even showing them cohabitation, kissing and Robin getting jealous – before pulling away from the possibility quickly and pretty definitively, coyly suggesting that maybe they were mainly just besties after all.

They also have ex-husband Bobby Brown played in a cartoonishly stupid way, almost feeling like a Chris Rock parody of the guy. Now, no one has ever claimed that Bobby Brown was a deep, thoughtful guy, but I have to believe that he was not the gangsta Casanova loser they play him off as. After all, even the film Whitney acknowledges that the drug addiction that ended up taking her life was not Brown’s fault and he got too much blame for it. (Although, in fairness, he certainly didn’t help…)

Also, super producer Clive Davis (as played by Stanley Tucci) is played out as an exceedingly sweet, magnanimous, supportive force in Whitney’s life. Maybe that is even true, but it’s hard to believe that in a relationship that lasted for well over three decades that there wasn’t some acrimony between them ever. However, the super-nice Clive may just be explained by the fact that Davis is one of the producers of the film.

Also, much like Davis, occasionally the film tends to reduce the diva to her sales figures. In the end credits chyron talking about her life, career and death, they make a point to say how she was the only woman to ever to be diamond-certified three times (her 1985 debut album, 1987’s Whitney and the 1992 The Bodyguard soundtrack). Now, I’m a music nerd, so I know what diamond-certified means (ten million albums sold, also known as ten-times platinum), but I’m pretty sure that stat will go right over the head of most casual fans. More to the point, is it really fair to reduce Houston’s career to units sold, or even awards she won, which the end credit chyron also lists faithfully?

Whitney Houston was much more complicated than that. And while I Wanna Dance With Somebody tries its best to capture the essence of Whitney, it comes off a bit more like the Cliff Notes version of her life. It hits on most of the highlights and lowlights, but it doesn’t explore most of them deeply enough. Perhaps this would have worked better as a limited series for TV or streaming, where the story and characters would have room to breathe and get more in depth.

But, man, what a soundtrack. Just hearing these songs again in full cinema sound is definitely worth the price of a ticket.
