MHA chapter 426
4 more chapters until MHA ends and wow!!!
Honestly this chapter was mainly the conclusion of the todoroki family arc which I still hate how it played out and ended. The whole todoroki family NOT INCLUDING ENJI deserves so much better than what horikoshi gave them.
Hawks is the new HPSC leader?!?! I feel like the system should of just been destroyed considering how much it hurt everyone and hawks by no means has any proper character development to take this role. Hawks hasn't really broken down his flawed beliefs or truly developed from his mentality that ended up getting one of the most redeemable league of villains members aka twice killed. Also he barely reflects on his actions and all of this feels so underwhelming and unprepared for.
Tumblr media
Todoroki family deserves better. The ABSLOUTELY vile ending the todoroki family received is horrible like I really feel like they should just runaway and live in a house without endeavour and actually take up on endeavours attornment bs. Like the only one who gets it is natsou who has every right to live with his girlfriend and keep her far away from that environment and oh my Rei deserves so much better both narratively and by the fandom.
Tumblr media
Enji still sucks. Yeah I can't lie nothing this man can do can make me like him and it doesn't help that hori has written all of those retcons to humanise him and make him pitiful. I feel like when it came to the todoroki family arc enji took on a whole lot of screentime WHICH HE SHOULDNT OF!!! That should of gone to shoto and the rest of the family and an easy way to fix it is to simply have killed enji in the first war arc (as was initially planned but hori changed it later on) ALSO I SAY LET TOUYA REST AT THIS POINT!!! having him just mechanically alive and stuck is horrible honestly I think that death is much more of a merciful fate for him at this point.
Tumblr media
So lady nagant chose to go to jail?!?! Her reasoning for it is actually so sad though and it really shows how much hero society traumatised her. Like the woman didn't want to be free so she can't be used by anyone and would rather spend time in prison over it. I wish that she was hawk's mentor from the begining because the vibe those two give is absolutely amazing and it would enhance the parallels and relationship they have if they were. Honestly I hope hawks actually does a good job but Iam still all for the destruction of hero society and I doubt hawks is actually going to reform it properly also the hero society is so deeply flawed that I don't think there is a proper way to reform more like just scratch everything out and start fresh.
Tumblr media
Spinner is back. I hope I don't see him have a breakdown when he realises what happend to the league because I can't handle that. Also that begs the question I thought that spinner had become somewhat brain dead after all he's been through so how did he turn back from being a giant nomu?
Tumblr media
I can't handle the sibling angst too bad that touya and shoto didn't have a better arc. The whole shoto trying to know touya better and him revealing that soba is also his favourite food softens my heart. In another universe where enji doesn't get a redemption touya gets one while justice is served to the todoroki family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gentle criminal and la brava getting justice. (The only good part of the chapter fr)
Tumblr media
in conclusion this chapter was horrible if we look at it from a story perspective due to how badly MHAs already established plot points and themes are handled!!!
Also what happend to the random character in the last chapter!!! I hope we get closure on that soon

The most realistic thing about MHA is that if you’re influential or famous and just so happened to do some of the most vile things imaginable, nobody will give a shit!

The top reference was made by myself in 2021, the bottom was made in 2019 (watermarks are my old username). The templates I used can be found here and were made by Unearthy.
Additional art from left to right, was made by Athren, CNWGraphis, kiirino, and bakawomans <3
Note: Any variation of "I don't like Endeavor, but-" is not wanted in my comments or reblogs. You aren't obligated to like the character, but I don't appreciate my art or character being used to vent your frustrations when I'm just trying to have a fun time. I WILL BLOCK YOU IF YOU DO.
Tumblr media
Old Art I made of my BNHA / MHA OC Suisei Murasaki<3 Suisei used to be my main oc and I was once as obsessed with her as I was Rosalie. She's still very near and dear to my heart ofc and after catching up with mha I was recently reinspired to work on her again. She's got a new reference on the way but until then I thought it'd be okay to share some of my older pieces/some art I've commissioned of her over the years. BIG LORE DUMP UNDER THE CUT.
Tumblr media
You can view her TH here for more indepth information. Not all of it is up to date. But TLDR: Suisei Murasaki, also known by her hero name Andromeda, is a Pro Hero whose flashy quirk and philanthropy helped catapult her into stardom at an early age, and eventually lead her to achieving international fame. She is best known for the fun, game-show like tv shows she frequently hosts to raise money for charities, but she also does modeling work on the side and often appears as a guest teacher at her former school in-between her hero work. She doesn't take paycuts- instead she opts to donate money she makes to families in need.
In front of her audience she is perpetually cheerful, hardworking, dramatic and even a little silly at times. But it’s an act that she has chosen to keep up to avoid burdening her friends and loved ones with of her rocky personal life after the sudden loss of her husband.
Her Quirk has been tweaked a bit since 2019 so the one listed on her old reference isn't completely accurate, but basically it allows her to take on the properties of and fly through the air like a comet- making her extremely fast and strong. I've saved a few clips over the years of what I think it'd look like, so here's an example.
She was high school sweethearts with Endeavor at U.A and they remained together for a few years after their graduation, but they broke up when his obsession with becoming the number 1 hero began to interfere with their relationship. They fall completely out of connect. Suisei moves on and she eventually meets, falls in love with, 'marries', and has a child with a man who is actually All for One in disguise- but she doesn't discover that until much later (probably sometime before the Final War). After AfO's fight with All Might, he disappears without a trace from Suisei's life, and she's left heartbroken and unable to find any answer or explanation. So is forced to assume the worst. MHA first begins, she's just returned to hero work after being an hiatus for a while. She spent that time recovering and taking care of her child.
After her return, she eventually reconnects with many old colleges- including Endeavor. She joins Hawks in lending support to him after All Might's retirement. She ofc discovers she is still attracted to him, but I imagine the two simply remain friends throughout the rest of the series duration. But I guess in my personal story, Rei and him eventually divorce and he gives his family the space from him that he thinks they need while continuing to support them anyway they can. Only then do I imagine Suisei and Endeavor's relationship is finally rekindled a few years later. In this scenario I imagine Suisei and Enji have a daughter together who eventually becomes a pro-hero named "Red Star".

It's weird that only Natuso (and, sometimes, Shoto) are debated as rape children.
I doubt Rei was beaming in joy when Endeavor decided his first attempt at his successor. You know, because Rei never had any romantic or sexual thoughts of Endeavor before being bought.
From what I have seen it is indeed only shoto and natsou that are considered rape children (gosh that is such a disgusting term) and if I had to say why it probably all stems from chapter 301.
Chapter 301 was the chapter we were fully introduced to touya and Rei's circumstances from ENJI'S pov (for some unknown reason😑😐😑) and people only recognise enji's actions as rape and SA when Rei says that she doesn't want anymore children (by this point touya and fuyumi are already born)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That aside can we talk about where the hell did touya get this sexist ideology from? (Probably enji) 🤷‍♀️
A lot of people do end up forgetting that Rei didn't have the choice and had to marry enji. No when she was sold she was compliant and went along with it. Enji was the one to initiate this and Rei's family had no problems in selling her (SHE HAD NO CHOICE OR SAY IN THE MATTER!!!) she complied because it would of just been easier for her and in the end when she said no she was proven right that she had no authority or power in the relationship.
Tumblr media
After she says no the manga pages following after show her getting more and more mentally distressed with the birth of each child with clear and dominant eye bags underneath her eyes while enji gets angrier and more aggressive.
Tumblr media
In the end if we're being technical all of the todoroki children were born out of consent and the only reason the fandom mainly debates and shoto and natsou being the ones born out of consent is because of the panel of Rei saying that she doesn't want anymore children in chapter 301

I agree dabi's kill count feels incredibly forced almost as if its just there to demonise dabi and make the audience more sympathetic towards enji.
In chapter 290 dabi admits on live television that he has killed over 30 innocent individuals. Now we know that dabi has indeed killed before but we have no idea if they are innocent individuals or also criminals like dabi.
Tumblr media
The only time we see dabi kill is when he kills other criminals who are the thugs that tried to join the league and failed and a hero in the overhaul arc. Dabi's method of killing them is pretty brutal and its by burning them alive. Now this could be linked to enji who dabi states only taught him how to turn up the heat and never control it or enji who is canonically stated to burn, damage property and put peoples lives at risk when angry (he tried to kill koichi in the vigilante manga)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When dabi is first introduced giran highlights the fact that dabi has no criminal record which could suggest that dabi didn't kill anyone until he joined the league as its noticeablly after he joined the league that heroes have seen an increase in dead burnt bodies.
My main question is why did dabi start to kill? What was it for? Who were the people he killed? I doubt dabi killed for fun it doesn't seem in character for him so why? Who were the individuals that were a victim to dabi?
It would make sense if dabi started to be influenced by stain and his ideals and because of that he would go and target heroes to kill to continue the hero killers work but I doubt dabi would just kill innocent and normal civilians.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if dabi thinks he killed all of the individuals in the hospital?
What if he included the hospital members into his kill count? Maybe that's why he label's them as innocent because they indeed are. Dabi at age 16 after getting into an argument set the hospital on fire and out of panic he ran and ran back home probably thinking that he killed them all by accident and severely regretting his actions especially after they helped him.
I doubt that dabi is fully aware that he indeed didn't kill anyone there and that the fire as stated by hori was small enough so that it was put out and no one was hurt. Looking back through dabi's memories the fire looks big and maybe this all adds to his own guilty conscious?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, one thing that makes even more sense is if dabi started to kill for survival when he was in the streets experiencing extreme poverty, a lack of a proper education, a home and many other basic necessities. The streets can be incredibly tough and so dabi would of probably had his first kill purely put of self defense maybe he killed them with his quirk and as he got more kills he got used to using his quirk and killing others. Maybe he was reminded of enji whenever he did that? Maybe he started to learn that he is doomed to be like his father? Or something...
Rewriting MHA has given me a chance to look back on so much with fresh eyes, and it really reinforces how regressed the LOV became.
Dabi was not a murderer before joining the League, there's no criminal record connected to him like there is to Toga. There's nothing to even suggest he wanted to kill anyone. His initial introduction was solely about false heroes and he even looked down on Tomura for having no real goals. It's weird that Horikoshi seemed to retcon this.
He didn't have to make Dabi a murderer. But it's almost like if Dabi only targeted Endeavor, he would come off as way too justifiable. No one's going to condemn him for killing his abusive parent. So he has to make him "more evil" in an attempt to antagonize him more
Hi @sapphic-agent 👋,
All of this. Dabi's kill count feels very forced to make him seem like a "real villian" and less justified in the narrative.
No one (least of all Shoto) will condemn Dabi for wanting to kill Endeavor.
However, Dabi being a mass murder and it being revealed later that he wants to kill Shoto too feels like a way to forcibly make Dabi's stance in the narrative worse.
And to remove complexity / shades of grey to the Heroes vs Villians fight in MHA as a result.
