Y/n stood outside San's dorm, her hand trembling as she reached for the doorbell. She pressed it, the sound echoing in the hallway. A moment later, the door swung open, revealing San's concerned face.
"Why didn't you come inside? You know the code," he said, a hint of confusion in his voice. But before he could say anything more, Y/n threw herself into his arms, her sobs breaking the silence.
San's heart clenched at the sight of her tears. She was shaking uncontrollably, her face buried in his chest. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly, his mind racing with worry.
"Y/n, what's wrong? What happened?" he asked, his voice gentle but filled with urgency.
She couldn't speak, her sobs making it impossible. San felt a pang of helplessness. Seeing her like this, so broken and vulnerable, was tearing him apart. He led her inside, closing the door behind them, and guided her to the couch. He sat down, pulling her onto his lap, cradling her as she continued to cry.
"It's okay, you're safe here," he whispered, stroking her hair. "Just take your time."
Y/n clung to him, her fingers gripping his shirt as if afraid he might disappear. San's mind was flooded with thoughts of all the terrible things that could have happened. He tried to push them aside, focusing on being there for her, but the worry gnawed at him.
"Did somebody hurt you? Touched you?" San asked, his voice trembling with barely controlled anger. "If they did, just tell me."
Y/n shook her head, her sobs gradually subsiding. "No, no one hurt me like that," she managed to say between hiccups.
San exhaled, a mix of relief and concern flooding his senses. "Then what happened? Tell me everything."
Taking a deep breath, Y/n began to explain. "There's this professor... ever since the beginning of the semester, he's been messing with me. I tried to ignore it, to not give it too much attention, but today... today he humiliated me in front of the whole class."
San's grip on her tightened, his jaw clenching in anger. "What did he do?"
Y/n's voice wavered as she continued, "He asked me a question, and when I answered, he laughed and said I was completely wrong, that I shouldn't even be in his class if I didn't understand something so basic. The whole class laughed with him. I didn't know what to do, so the first thing I did was to apologize... I don't even know why I did that. It was so humiliating, San. I felt so small. I couldn't take it, so I just left the class."
San's heart ached for her. He could see the pain and embarrassment in her eyes. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Y/n," he said softly. "You didn't deserve any of it."
She buried her face in his chest again, her tears soaking his shirt. "I just didn't know where else to go. I felt so lost."
"You did the right thing by coming here," San reassured her.  He held her even tighter, his voice filled with determination. "I will protect you, Y/n. No one will hurt you again."
Y/n looked up at him, her eyes still brimming with tears but also filled with gratitude. "Just don't do anything stupid again," she added half-jokingly, trying to lighten the mood.
San managed a small smile, his thumb gently wiping away her tears. "I promise I won't. We'll handle this together."
He kissed her forehead softly, a gesture filled with love and promise. "Let's get you cleaned up and feeling better."
Y/n nodded, leaning on him for support. "That sounds perfect."
San picked her up, and Y/n instinctively wrapped her legs around his torso and her arms around his neck, nuzzling her face into the crook of his neck. San carefully carried her to his bathroom, making sure not to bump into anything accidentally. He gently placed her down on the countertop, his hands lingering on her for a moment, offering comfort and reassurance.
Y/n watched him as he moved to the shower, turning on the water and adjusting the temperature until it was just right. She couldn't help but feel a wave of gratitude and love wash over her. How did she get so lucky to have this man in her life? San's gentle care and unwavering support were everything she needed right now.
San walked back to her, his hands caressing her legs, his touch sending shivers down her spine. "Can I shower with you?" he asked softly, his eyes searching hers for permission.
Y/n smiled and nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Yes, please."
San helped her off the countertop and guided her to the shower. He gently undressed her, his movements slow and tender, making sure she felt comfortable and cherished. Once she was undressed, he quickly shed his own clothes and led her under the warm spray of the shower.
The water cascaded over them, washing away the stress and tension of the day. San wrapped his arms around Y/n, holding her close as the water enveloped them. Y/n leaned into him, feeling safe and secure in his embrace.
They stood there for a while, simply enjoying the warmth and the comfort of being together. San's hands moved gently over her back, soothing and comforting her. Y/n felt the last remnants of her fear and anxiety melt away, replaced by a profound sense of peace.
San pulled back slightly, tilting her chin up to look into her eyes. "You're amazing, you know that?" he whispered, his voice filled with love and admiration. "You're so strong, and I'm so proud of you."
Y/n's eyes filled with tears again, but this time they were tears of gratitude and love. "I don't know what I'd do without you, San," she whispered back. "Thank you for always being here for me."
San leaned down and kissed her softly, his lips conveying all the love and support he felt for her. The kiss deepened, and for a moment, everything else faded away. It was just the two of them, wrapped in each other's arms, their love a beacon of light in the darkness.
When they finally pulled apart, San rested his forehead against hers, his hands gently cradling her face. "Let's get cleaned up and then we can relax, okay?"
Y/n nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Okay."
They took their time in the shower, washing away the day's troubles and enjoying the simple intimacy of being together. San was gentle and attentive, making sure Y/n felt cherished and loved every step of the way.
San smiled softly, his eyes filled with love as he gently turned Y/n around. "Turn around," he said, his voice tender. "I'll wash your hair."
Y/n obeyed, turning her back to him and feeling the warm water cascade over her. San's fingers moved through her hair, massaging her scalp with a tenderness that sent shivers down her spine. She felt his concentration, the way he was dedicated to making sure every strand was clean and cared for.
As San continued his gentle ministrations, a mischievous smile spread across Y/n's face. She couldn't resist the playful urge that bubbled up inside her. She took a small step back, pressing her backside into San.
San froze for a moment, his hands pausing in her hair. She could feel his breath hitch, and the tension that suddenly filled the space between them. "Y/n," he said softly, his voice a mix of surprise and amusement.
Y/n giggled, her eyes twinkling with mischief even though he couldn't see them. "Just making sure you're paying attention," she teased, leaning back into him a little more.
San chuckled, his hands resuming their gentle movements in her hair. "Oh, I'm paying attention, alright," he murmured, his voice low and filled with affection. "But two can play at that game."
Before Y/n could react, San's hands slipped from her hair and moved down her back, his fingers tracing light, teasing patterns on her skin. She shivered, a soft gasp escaping her lips at the unexpected touch. San's touch was gentle but insistent, sending waves of pleasure through her body.
"San," she breathed, a mix of pleasure and laughter in her voice. "You're supposed to be washing my hair."
"I think we're a little past that now," San replied, his lips brushing against her ear, sending a thrill down her spine. He pressed a soft kiss to the side of her neck, his arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her closer.
Y/n leaned into him, enjoying the feel of his strong, warm body against hers. She turned her head slightly, capturing his lips in a deep, lingering kiss. San responded eagerly, his hands tightening their hold on her.
For a moment, the world outside the shower ceased to exist. It was just the two of them, wrapped in each other's embrace, sharing a moment of pure intimacy and connection. San's kisses were slow and deliberate, each one filled with love and passion.
When they finally pulled away, both of them were breathless, their hearts racing. San rested his forehead against hers, his eyes dark and filled with desire. "I love you, Y/n," he whispered, his voice husky.
"I love you too, San," she replied, her voice equally breathless.
San smiled, pressing one more soft kiss to her lips. "Let's finish up here and get you comfortable," he said, his voice filled with tenderness. "We've had enough excitement for one night."
Y/n nodded, a soft smile on her lips. They quickly finished their shower, the playful energy between them lingering even as they dried off and got dressed. San helped her into a comfortable pair of clothes and led her to the bed, pulling her into his arms and holding her close.
-
After minutes of quiet cuddling, San suddenly brightened. "Hey, how about we play some video games?" he suggested, his eyes twinkling with excitement. "It'll take your mind off things and we can have some fun."
Y/n grinned, the idea appealing to her. "Sure, that sounds great. But be prepared to lose, I'm really good these days," she said, teasing him.
San raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Oh, is that so? We'll see about that."
San got up and quickly set up his gaming console, grabbing a couple of controllers. Y/n settled comfortably on the bed, her earlier anxiety fading away as she watched him. Soon, San joined her, handing her a controller and flashing her a boyish grin.
They started with a racing game, the competitive spirit between them coming to life almost instantly. Laughter filled the room as they teased and taunted each other, both trying to outdo the other with daring moves and quick reflexes.
"You're going down, San!" Y/n called out, her eyes focused intently on the screen as her car sped past his.
"You wish," San retorted, his fingers moving rapidly over the buttons. He leaned closer, a determined look on his face.
The room was filled with the sounds of the game and their playful banter. Y/n's earlier tears were forgotten, replaced by the thrill of the game and the warmth of San's presence. She could feel the tension melting away, replaced by a sense of normalcy and comfort.
After a few intense races, Y/n managed to win the last one, throwing her arms up in triumph. "Yes! I won!" she exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy.
San's mouth hung low, unable to believe he just lost to her. He had years of experience in gaming, yet his baby had just beaten him. He quickly said, "Okay, let's play another game."
He chose a game he was confident in, one where he knew he was the ace. As they started playing, he was determined to win this round. But Y/n had a new spirit; she wasn't here to lose. They battled fiercely, the tension and excitement growing with each passing moment.
Finally, another victory screen played, and Y/n leaned back, teasing San with her win. "Looks like I'm on a roll tonight," she said, smirking.
San pouted, his brows furrowing in mock frustration. "I think something is wrong with the game," he said, crossing his arms.
Y/n laughed, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Sure, blame the game. Or maybe you just met your match?"
San couldn't help but smile, despite his pretend annoyance. "Alright, you win this time," he admitted, leaning in to plant a quick kiss on her lips. "But don't think I'll go easy on you next time."
Y/n grinned, her heart swelling with affection. "We'll see about that," she replied, snuggling closer to him. "I think I like this side of you, all competitive and pouty."
San chuckled, wrapping his arm around her. "Only for you, Y/n. Only for you."
As they continued to play, San couldn't help but steal glances at Y/n, his heart full of love and admiration. She had a way of making even the simplest moments feel special, and he was grateful for every second they spent together.
Eventually, they switched to a cooperative game, working together to defeat virtual enemies and complete challenging levels. It was a perfect way to bond and forget the troubles of the day.
As the night wore on, they found themselves getting more and more relaxed. Y/n snuggled closer to San, her head resting on his shoulder as they played. San's arm wrapped around her, holding her close and making her feel safe and loved.
In that moment, everything felt right. The worries of the day faded into the background, replaced by the simple joy of being together. They didn't need grand gestures or elaborate plans; all they needed was each other, a couple of controllers, and a game to share.
As the game came to an end and the screen faded to black, San turned to Y/n. He noticed the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest, her eyes closed, her breathing steady. She had fallen asleep.
San smiled softly, his heart swelling with affection. She looked so peaceful, and he felt a deep sense of gratitude to have her in his life. He had no heart to wake her up, not when she seemed so content and at ease.
Carefully, he shifted their positions, making sure she was comfortable. He gently lifted her head to place a pillow underneath and pulled a blanket over her. Y/n stirred slightly, mumbling something incoherent, but she didn't wake up. San watched her for a moment, his hand brushing a stray hair from her forehead.
"Sweet dreams, my love," he whispered, pressing a soft kiss to her temple.
He settled down beside her, his arm draped protectively around her. He could feel the warmth of her body next to his, a soothing presence that made him feel at home. As he closed his eyes, he marveled at how much his life had changed since she had become a part of it. The bond they shared was unlike anything he had ever experienced, and he cherished every moment.
The room was quiet, the only sounds being the soft hum of the air conditioning and their synchronized breathing.

As the swings gently creaked under their weight, San and Y/n sat side by side, the cool night air brushing against their cheeks. The playground, once a realm of youthful adventures, now held a nostalgic charm that wrapped around them like a comforting blanket.
"Do you remember the time we built that sandcastle so tall it almost touched the sky?" Y/n chuckled softly, her eyes gleaming with memories of carefree days.
San smiled, his gaze fixed on Y/n, his best friend since forever. "Yeah, and then it got washed away by a furious monster. We were so upset that day."
They both laughed, the sound echoing softly in the quiet night. The moon hung low in the sky, casting a gentle glow over the playground where they had spent countless hours growing up together.
"I miss those days," Y/n murmured, her voice tinged with wistfulness. "Everything seemed so simple back then."
San nodded in agreement, his heart beating a little faster as he looked at Y/n. Tonight felt different somehow, like the universe had conspired to create this moment just for them.
"Do you remember Mr. Thompson's math class?" Y/n laughed, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "You were always the one who saved me from failing."
San chuckled softly. "Yeah, you were never a fan of numbers. But we always managed to get through it together."
As they reminisced, San couldn't help but steal glances at Y/n when she wasn't looking. She looked beautiful under the moonlight, her hair catching the soft glow, her laughter ringing like music in his ears.
"So many memories," San said softly, his voice tinged with nostalgia. "But I think my favorite moments were just being with you."
Y/n looked at him, a gentle smile playing on her lips. "You've always been there for me, San. I don't know what I'd do without you."
San felt a rush of warmth at her words but noticed Y/n shivering slightly in the cool night air. "Hey, you're cold," he said softly, unzipping his jacket and offering it to her. "Here, take this."
Y/n hesitated for a moment before accepting the jacket gratefully. "Thanks, San. You always think of everything."
San chuckled, trying to lighten the mood. "Well, if you catch a cold, who's going to laugh at my terrible jokes?"
Y/n rolled her eyes playfully. "Your jokes aren't that bad."
They laughed together, the tension easing between them. With Y/n wrapped in San's jacket, they decided to leave the playground and head to their favorite Korean barbecue restaurant. The familiar scent of grilled meat and the lively atmosphere welcomed them as they settled into their usual table.
Over sizzling meat and glasses of soju, they continued their nostalgic trip down memory lane, sharing stories of high school escapades and university adventures. Each tale brought waves of laughter and shared understanding, deepening the connection that had always been there.
"Do you remember that time we tried to cook instant noodles in the dorm using the coffee maker?" Y/n giggled, recalling their disastrous attempt.
San grinned, shaking his head. "And we ended up setting off the fire alarm! Good times."
As the evening progressed, their laughter blended with the murmur of other diners, creating a bubble of warmth and companionship around them. Between bites of delicious food and sips of soju, they found themselves talking about dreams, fears, and everything in between.
Y/n leaned back in her chair, a slight flush on her cheeks from the soju. "You know, San," she began, her words slightly slurred, "I've been thinking... I shouldn't have dated those terrible guys back then."
San raised an eyebrow, curious where this conversation was going. "What do you mean?"
Y/n sighed, looking into her glass before meeting his gaze. "I mean, you were always there to protect me. Like that last time, when my boyfriend cheated on me... You punched him for me, remember?"
San chuckled softly, a sheepish grin spreading across his face. "Yeah, I remember. He deserved it."
"You always made me feel safe, San," Y/n continued, her voice earnest. "And I think... I think I always knew deep down that I deserved better."
San's heart skipped a beat at her words. He had never wanted to see Y/n hurt, especially not by someone who didn't appreciate her the way she deserved.
"You do deserve better, Y/n," San said softly, his hand reaching across the table to gently touch hers. "You deserve someone who sees how amazing you are, who cherishes you every single day."
Y/n smiled warmly at him, her heart fluttering with his words, when suddenly a voice interrupted their moment.
"Hey, San! Fancy seeing you here," a chirpy voice exclaimed from behind them.
San and Y/n turned to see a girl from one of San's classes approaching their table. She had a bright smile plastered on her face, and her presence seemed to fill the space between San and Y/n.
"Hi... uh, Jia," San greeted, trying to remain polite but slightly caught off guard.
Jia ignored the slight awkwardness and turned to Y/n, giving her a quick once-over before saying, "Oh, you must be Y/n! San talks about you all the time."
Y/n forced a smile, feeling a tinge of discomfort. "Nice to meet you, Jia."
Jia took the seat next to San without waiting for an invitation, completely oblivious to the atmosphere between San and Y/n. "So, what are you guys up to tonight?"
San exchanged a quick glance with Y/n, silently communicating their desire to continue their private conversation. "Actually, Jia, we were just catching up. It's been a while since we've had a chance to hang out."
Jia's smile faltered slightly, but she pressed on. "Oh, that's cool! Mind if I join you then?"
Before San could respond, Y/n interjected, "Actually, Jia, we were just finishing up here. It was nice meeting you, but we should probably get going."
Jia looked disappointed but didn't seem to take the hint. "Oh, okay then. Well, maybe we can all hang out sometime soon!"
San shot Y/n an apologetic look before standing up. "Yeah, maybe. We'll see you around, Jia."
As they walked away from the table, Y/n let out a sigh of relief. "That was... unexpected."
San chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Sorry about that. Jia can be a bit... persistent."
Y/n nodded, but a nagging feeling tugged at her heart. "It's just... you never mentioned her before. Is she in your class often?"
San noticed the change in Y/n's tone and paused, realizing her discomfort. "Yeah, she's in a few of my classes. She's friendly and all, but we've never been close like that."
Y/n furrowed her brow slightly, her mind racing with thoughts she couldn't quite articulate. "But she seemed really comfortable around you... sitting so close and all."
San glanced at Y/n, sensing her unease. "Y/n, I promise you, she's just a classmate. She's never been anything more than that."
The tension between them lingered as they walked through the quiet streets, the city lights casting soft shadows around them. Y/n bit her lip, trying to push away the unwelcome feelings of jealousy that were bubbling up inside her.
"I'm sorry," Y/n finally murmured, breaking the silence. "I didn't mean to... I guess I'm just not used to seeing you with other girls."
San nodded, understanding her feelings. "I get it, Y/n. You're important to me, and I don't want you feeling uncomfortable."
Y/n smiled gratefully, feeling reassured by his words. "Thank you, San. Let's continue this conversation at my place? We can have a few more drinks and just talk."
San nodded, a gentle smile playing on his lips. "Sure, that sounds good."
They walked the remaining distance to Y/n's apartment in comfortable silence, the tension from earlier easing with each step. The night air was cool and crisp, a welcome contrast to the warmth they felt between them.
As they entered Y/n's cozy apartment, San couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. Y/n seemed lost in thought, her usual cheerful demeanor replaced by a quiet contemplation.
"Is everything alright, Y/n?" San asked gently, taking a seat on the couch.
Y/n hesitated for a moment before answering, "Yeah, I'm fine." But her voice lacked conviction.
San studied her for a moment, sensing her unease. "You seem... distracted. Is it about earlier?"
Y/n sighed softly, running a hand through her hair. "I guess I'm just confused. I didn't expect to feel jealous when Jia came over. It's not like me."
San nodded, understanding her turmoil. "It's okay to feel that way, Y/n. Sometimes emotions surprise us."
Y/n hesitated for a moment before asking, her voice hesitant, "San, why have I never seen you with a girlfriend before? Have you... never dated anyone?"
San met her gaze with a tender smile. "No, Y/n. I've never had a girlfriend. There's only ever been one person I've cared about deeply."
Y/n furrowed her brow slightly, trying to grasp the weight of his words. "Who?"
San took a deep breath, his heart beating a little faster. "You, Y/n. It's always been you."
Y/n's eyes widened in surprise, her breath catching in her throat. "Me?"
San nodded, his voice filled with sincerity. "Yes, you. Since we were kids, I've only ever had eyes for you."
Y/n felt a rush of emotions—surprise, joy, and a flicker of disbelief mingled together. "I... I never knew."
San reached out and gently took her hand, his touch warm and reassuring. "I didn't want to risk our friendship by saying anything. But tonight, seeing you jealous over Jia... it made me realize I couldn't keep it to myself anymore."
Y/n searched his eyes, finding honesty and vulnerability mirrored back at her. "San, I... I don't know what to say."
"You don't have to say anything," San replied softly, his thumb brushing over her hand. "I just needed you to know how I feel."
They sat in silence for a moment, the weight of their unspoken feelings hanging in the air. Y/n's mind raced with a thousand thoughts, but one truth stood out above all—the boy she had grown up with, the one who had always been there for her, was the one she had unknowingly longed for.
"San," she finally whispered, her voice trembling slightly, "I think... I think I feel the same way."
San's eyes widened in hopeful surprise, a smile spreading across his face. "You do?"
Y/n nodded, a shy smile playing on her lips. "Yeah... I think I do."
Relief and joy washed over San's features, and he pulled her into a gentle embrace. "Y/n, you have no idea how happy you've made me."
They held each other, the warmth of their embrace melting away any remaining doubts or uncertainties. In that moment, they both knew that they were embarking on a new chapter—one filled with love, trust, and the promise of a future together.
As they sat together, basking in the glow of their newfound understanding, Y/n couldn't help but feel grateful for the twists and turns that had brought them to this moment. It was a journey that had started in childhood innocence and had now blossomed into a love story that was just beginning to unfold.

Tumblr media
A few weeks after Halloween, Hongjoong invites everyone to a friend’s deejaying gig on the other side of town. Your roommate opts out, saying she’d rather spend one of her rare nights off at her boyfriend’s, so you, San, Wooyoung, and Hongjoong check it out together.
After the gig ends, your ears still ringing, feet aching from all the dancing you did, the four of you make your way home. Wooyoung and Hongjoong both seem hyped from the show, talking excitedly as you wait for the train. You watch them with a fond smile, leaning against the wall and taking turns lifting your feet to take some of the pressure off.
San joins you. “You okay, Noona?”
“Yeah. Just wore the wrong boots tonight,” you say. “Didn’t realize we’d be dancing so much.”
“Oh, yeah. I guess I could’ve warned you,” San grins. “Sorry. We’re not the type to sit through a set.”
“Clearly,” you reply, smiling back. Honestly, you’d been pleasantly surprised at how well San and his friends dance. They were so free with their movements and their energy had been infectious. You couldn’t have stood still if you’d tried.
Of course, now you’re paying for it, wincing as your throbbing feet scream at you. You shuffle again, and then, ever-so-gracefully, you lose your balance, tipping over, letting out a loud expletive that draws everyone’s attention.
Hongjoong and Wooyoung cackle as San grabs your arm, pulling you back upright.
“No worries, Noona, I’ve got you.”
He murmurs the words reassuringly, arm sliding from yours to loop around your shoulders, squeezing you into his side, but only for a second, before he scolds the other two for laughing so much. You giggle along as Wooyoung and San pretend to fight, but your heart’s not in it, because it’s still yearning painfully for San to hold you again. Every time he touches you - hugs you goodbye, cuddles with you on the couch, even the briefest moments of contact like just now - it leaves this black hole inside your chest, an endless gnawing need for more and more and more.
At some point, you won’t be able to withstand it anymore. You’re not sure what will happen then.
The train car is crowded when your group enters. Unfortunately for your tired feet, there's nowhere to sit, and blessed little space to stand, so everyone splits up, trying to find room for themselves. Except for San, who guides you towards the opposite doors with a gentle touch on your back, and then stands beside you, reaching overhead to hold on while your hands curl around a pole.
Some creepy guy already too close on your right leans over, trying to get an eyeful of your chest, and San smoothly slides around, blocking you from the asshole’s view. You smile gratefully, and he gives you an intimidating look but undercuts his mean mugging with an eyebrow wiggle, and you giggle, which then makes him grin, a chain reaction of happiness that leaves you buzzing.
The gentle sway of the car as it hurdles down the tracks shakes you. You bump into San with a horribly steady rhythm, feeling sheepish for not having a strong enough core to keep yourself upright and balanced for more than a second at a time. He just laughs, finally throwing an arm around your back to help.
His hold is light, leaving a big sliver of air between you, a respectful distance that frankly makes you wish he’d be disrespectful. But he maintains it, supporting you in the most polite way, and somehow it still makes your heart jump fast as the wheels spinning beneath your feet.  You turn your head, focusing on the window on the door, watching your reflection as the dark tunnels roll by.
At the next stop, more people pack themselves into the car. The small bubble of space around you pops as the wave of humanity rolls you into San, and you bring your hands up, bracing yourself against his chest, eyes widening at the solid warmth beneath your fingertips.
“Shit, sorry, sorry.” You apologize profusely, trying to step away, but the train jerks again, jostling you, and San tightens his grip, pulling you back into his arms.
“It’s ok,” he mutters, in a quiet voice. “I told you. I’ve got you.”
When your gazes meet, it’s like the air has been sucked from the car. Something shimmers in his dark eyes as they roam your face, and you utter his name unthinkingly, a tiny “San” just slipping from your open mouth, but it feels like a rogue confession of something you’ve been denying for so long. You’re not sure if he heard it but he definitely saw it because he’s been staring at your lips for a few seconds now.
You lean in at the same time he tilts his chin forward, and your mouths meet in the middle. A light kiss, feather soft, like testing the waters. The next one lingers, his lips firmer against yours. His hand splays on your back. You twist your fingers into the front of his t-shirt.
A third press weakens your knees, as his mouth slots against yours. Lips move together, part, allowing him to breathe in your little gasp.
The train emerges from the tunnel, and suddenly the lights in the car blast on as it comes to a slow stop at the next station. Immediately, you spring back, and so does San.
His expression is searing, and you glance away, looking to see if any of your friends are nearby, but the only one you can glimpse is Hongjoong. He’s got his back to you, a few feet and a dozen people away.
When the train starts up again, a few riders lighter, San loosens his grip, hand gliding up to a spot between your shoulders, far from the small where it had just been resting. By the time you reach your stop, his arm is more hovering than touching.
You and San find Hongjoong a few feet ahead of you when you depart. Wooyoung’s still on the train, since his place is closer to the next stop. Hongjoong slows his quick stride enough for you to catch up.
“You guys up for some ramen?” he asks, like he always does on late nights like this. You and San look at each other, and you don’t know if it’s the dim streetlights or what, but you can’t read his expression.
“Nah, I’m good,” San answers.
“I think I’m just gonna go to bed,” you start to say at the same time, cutting off to let San finish and then repeating yourself with a nervous laugh.
“‘Kay.” Hongjoong bears the rejection with his usual nonchalance. “I’ll see you later.” He crosses the street, heading for the convenience store on the next block.
And it’s just the two of you now, walking in silence. Two more blocks and you’ll be home. One more block. Just up the stairs now. Key in door, door closed, shoes off.
You stare at each other. He blinks first.
“Should we - “
“Did you want to - “
“Hey guys.”
Your roommate comes padding out of the kitchen, cup of tea in hand.
“Hey!” you nearly shout. “I thought you were staying over at Jongho's?”
If she’s surprised by the volume of your voice, Haneul doesn’t show it. She shrugs. “Yunho was being annoying, so I left.”
Yunho is Jongho’s roommate. He’s rarely at their apartment on the weekends. Just your luck that this would be the one night a year he strikes out and goes to his own bed instead of someone else’s.
Or maybe it’s for the best. Because it’s not too late to stop now before you do something else. Something potentially foolish. Let it just be a kiss. A one-time loss of rationality. Of caution.
Even if you can’t stop thinking about that night at the bar. Sitting there with San’s arms wrapped around you just felt so right.
Even if it’s been ages since you felt this way about someone.
Even if you’re pretty sure you’re falling for San.
“Are you going to bed or are you gonna stay up for a bit?” Haneul asks, taking a seat on the couch.
“Um…” you fight the impulse to glance at San. “I don’t know. I’m not really tired or anything….” Truth be told, you’re a little wired now. “Why?”
“I was thinking of starting that new drama Jongho told us about. Wanna join me?” She pats the space next to her.
San mumbles something about taking a shower. You watch him leave the room, and it feels like whatever happened on the train is already fading away. Did it really happen, or was it just a dream? Are your fantasies bleeding over into your waking hours now?
San joins you and Haneul near the end of the first episode, taking a spot on the floor in front of the couch so he can stretch out. He looks so soft, with his dark hair freshly fluffed from a towel, dressed in his favorite hoodie and sweats, and it’s a struggle to keep your focus on the television and not wonder what would’ve happened had Haneul not been home.
Part of you wishes San would catch you looking. But you’re not sure you could handle it if you met his gaze right now and didn’t find what you were hoping to find.
It’s actually a little odd how quiet he is, staring so intently at the show that you are completely ignoring. Is he doing the same thing you are, replaying the moment in his mind? Trying to freeze it in your memory?
Your stomach drops as you consider another possibility. What if he thinks the kiss was a mistake?
By the time the third episode is over, you’re exhausted, from your night out but also from the mental gymnastics you’ve been performing, silently twisting yourself into knots thinking about San and the train and what could happen versus what should. So you excuse yourself for the safety of your bedroom, where you can dream in peace.
Nero’s already curled up on his favorite spot on your bed, right next to where you lay your head. He cracks an eye open as you flop down beside him, and you reach out to give him an apologetic scritch, when you catch a scrap of paper poking out from beneath him. A note, with San's handwriting. He must’ve slipped it on your pillow after his shower. The first sentence sends relief flooding through you.
I don’t regret it.
But it’s what’s written next that has you rereading the note over and over. It’s a simple sentence, just a pleading command, but to you, it’s a revelation.
Please tell me you want more too.

*------------------*
Horror carefully grabs the bowls and moves them to the sink as Killer and Cross go off to continue clearing their new area. Dust should still be in their nest as it is his rest day today.
Crop joins him in cleaning up the table. Horror shoots him a look "You are a guest." and he gives him a pointed look.
Crop just grins back "Oh you know! Small town politeness!" and he grabs the towel, clearing appointing himself drying duty.
Horror grins as he turns slightly "What do you say Nightmare?"
Nightmare stands wiht his arms crossed by the table. trying his best to look angry but Horror just thinks he is pouting.
Nightmare huffs as he looks down and mutters "I am perfe-ctle able to help dry." he glares harder as he tripped slightly over his words.
Horror chuckles and gently nudges him out of the room "Or. You could go outside with your book? Enjoy the sun as you read and keep an socket on Killer and Cross."
Nightmare frowns at him. Horror knows he isn't exactle being subtle but they don't need to be. Nightmare needs to relax and enjoy his second chance at a childhood.
Nightmare glances at the sink for a moment before nodding and leaving the kitchen. Horror listens for a moment and hears more shuffles before the frontdoor closes.
Horror nods and turns back to the sink and sees Crop's looking curiously.
Horror raises a brow but joins his side and the two start on the chore. Horror starts with soaping up the dishes "Still think that as guest you should relax."
Crop shrugs as he waits his turn to dry "I like helping."
Horror chuckles "And we are still very thankful... let us know how to repay you."
Crop waves it off as he leans back against the counter. Horror shoots him a glance and sees that Crop seems to debate something with himself. Horror just continiues washing the dishes.
"I did... wonder something..."
Horror hums and tilts his skull as he waits.
Crop seems to consider how to ask it before turning to Horror "Nightmare is... very helpful."
Horror chuckles "That is the right word alright. Wants to help with everything." the little perfectionist. Of course it isn't that surprising.
Crop rubs his cheek "Well... I mean... I was wondering... Was he... like that... before? When he was still... big?"
Horror blinks as he looks at Crop for a moment before nodding "Well, yeah." and he continues washing the dishes.
Crop blinks and stares "seriously? But everyone always spoke about well... you know..."
Horror raises a brow at his friend and grins "That he is someone who spreads negativity and only cares about that?"
Crop cringes and shrugs "I didn't mean it like that..."
horror nods "I know."
Crop glares at him and hfufs "How any of them can think you are the most mature is beyond me."
Horror chuckles "Has a lot to do with how i was introduced." the original meeting with Crop had after all been much more chaotic and Horror ahd been actively hostile back then. Let his own mischievous side shine more through. Horror still loves jokes and pranks he just knows when to pick his moments, unlike some people.
Crop finishes drying the next few dishes before shooting him a look "Like... introduced? How did you end up working together with them?"
Horror shrugs as he finishes washing the last few things "Same as everyone. Nightmare hired me."
Crop pauses before snorting and laughing "I am sorry. Now whenever i hear nightmare i immediantly see that tiny six year old and they idea of him just standing before you and hiring you like that is real funny."
Horror chuckles and nods "It is rather amusing. Trust me. We did not miss the fact that technically we all agreed to work for a six year old." even when that same six year old was parading around in the adult version of his body. It did explain some of Nightmare curious habbits. The way he would get grumpy if tired or when he was low on magic and negative energy. The way things had to happen in a very specific way or he would just stare at the problem. just a lot of tiny things.
Crop chcukles and looks over "So... what? He realised you were very strong and decided to hire you as muscle?"
Horror grins "Ironically. My role hardly changed between when i was first hired and now."
Crop blinks confused "Waht?"
Horror chuckles and shrugs "I was originally hired to keep an eye on Dust and Killer. So you could say that I was already hired as babysitter to begin with." he snorts at the look Crop sends him.
Crop just gapes at him "seriously?! But... like.. .you are you!" and he waves at him "mega strong and amazing with tracking and traps!"
Horrro shrugs "Nightmare didn't specifically need those things at the time. At the time he needed someone steady to keep the chaos of Killer and dust a bit more contained."
Crop finishes his own task and crosses his arms "really?"
horror nods "It is true. I was surprised myself. But... well... Even if Nightmare had always been a god and while he wasn't used to mortal things and habits..." especially not after being in a fake adult body for 500 years powered by godpowered apples "He isn't afraid to admit he doesn't know things. At least to himself."
Crop just stares at him and Hroror rubs his own neck "Killer was the first one to be recruited. I know that story but it isn't my place to tell. All I can say is that Killer took his role of first follower very seriously. But... well... it isn't an easy job that Killer and Nightmare did and Nightmare was very quickly aware Killer is a mortal."
Crop blinks and gives aslow nod "so he got help?"
Horror nods "exactly. We once asked Nightmare why he picked Dust and Nightmare had just told us that Dust fit the requirements and was willing."
Horror sometimes wonders if Nightmare had asked others before hand. If others had said no and he had just disappeared form their lives. Or if he asked Dust first but had been prepared to just leave if he said no. He never ended up asking him.
Crop gives a slow nod "Still doesn't explain your role."
Hroror grins "Dust and Killer hated one another."
Crop sputters "waht? No way! There is no way. Those two are like this!" he crosses his fingers "You all are!" and he waits.
Horror shrugs "took time. more important, took us all being honest and vulnerable." which none of them enjoyed being at the time. It had all felt too good to be true. Horror knew he sometimes worried that he would have woken up back in his universe, away from his new friends and his brother and world still slowly dying of starvation. Nightmare had offered him a solution in trade for his service, Horror had quickly accepted.
Crop frowns "Like... I know Killer annoys Dust a lot but i mean.. that is more like.. .you know... playground.... boys and girls..."
horror chuckles "you can call it flirting. THough Killer will die before admitting that, he will tell you he is teasing. big difference."
Crop groans as he rubs his face "but how did that came to be? If they hated one another?"
Horror shrugs "both of them reminded each other of themselves. They both hated that. Took a long time of me being there as supervisor and buffer before they started to interact without fighting." both a physical and a metaphorical buffer.
Crop seems to consider this before nodding "I guess that makes sense... And you had the same role when Cross joined?"
Horror shakes his skull "by that time I had already joined Nightmare's normal forces and took pretty much the same job as Dust and Killer had. but by that time we had all learned not to just judge a book by its cover and to respect some boundaries. It was easier when Cross joined because of that." Good to because Cross had been, and still was, a bundle of nerves and anxiety. self doubt if honestly the biggest thing holding him back. If only Cross could see that himself, then Horror doubts there is much in this multiverse that could stop Cross from doing what he wants.
Crop chuckles "All of you had to learn that? YOu seem perfectly fine with interactions."
horror raises a brow at him "First week i stayed in this universe."
Crop's winces and rubs his arm "Yeha okay fair."
horror shakes his skull "I made my own mistakes and am thankful that the others forgave me for. It was a learnign curve for all of us." to be coworkers. to rely on each other. to be friends. To be a team and unit. and now... a family...
Crop nods "well... I can say that you guys are doing great!" he grins "people in town were nervous but they all really like you!"
Horror chcukles "good to hear. and thank you for everything..."
Crop shrugs "don't worry about it." he checks the clock and grins "I will need to go back. need to milk the cows and Betty loves her schedule. If i am late she may come looking for me."
Horror sighs "please don't bring a cow to these grounds..." Hell knows that they all had been assholes enough to joke and prank Cross with those. Before they realised how bad the phobia was. Again, they can all be assholes.
Crop gives him an easy thumbs up "don't worry. I will make sure it doesn't happen." he glances around and whispers "there was... one thing i was wodnering... you guys are real close. Is it... you know?" and he grins widely.
Horror chuckles and shrugs "not specifically." he shoots a glance towards where he knows Dust is sleeping in the nest. Then he glances out of the window to see if he can spot either Killer or Cross "There is no hurry..."
Crop grins and nods "cool cool. just people asking me stuff."
Horror nudges him "don't gossip. It is a bad habit."
Crop sighs "come on. you guys wouldn't give me the details on yourr made backstory. can tell me this at least."
Horror shoots him an amused look "no." and he starts to lead Crop's out.
Crop huffs but joins his side. They walk towards the path that will lead Crop home before stopping and both saying their goodbyes.
Crop shoots hima look "You have a lot of patiences with this."
horror shrugs "there is no hurry" and if he learend one thing with his family is that sometimes things just took time. Especially things concerning emotions and feeling vulnerable. Which love is a part of.
Crop nods before smiling "I am sure you four will figure it out eventually."
horror shoots a tiny smile back "thanks. Have a safe trip."
Crop grins as he waves "you guys have a great day and thanks for breakfast!" he waves into the distance at the other skeletons before starting to make his track back home.
Just a matter of time and giving them time. Horror knows by now that it is better to let them come to their own conclusions and thoughts then trying to force them to see stuff they aren't ready to see.
Luckily they have their own home now and can actually take the time they need.

The only way I can imagine Delta and Killer getting along is if Delta beats up someone Killer doesn't like.
For now they just coexist "peacefully" because of Color. But it would be interesting to see Delta scaring someone up after they messed with Killer.
And Delta would justify it saying "I'm just doing this so I don't get a lecture from Color later!” as he continues to beat someone up. In the end, both of them get a lecture from Color.
However, Killer starts to see Delta as a not-so-bad figure now, even though they continue to fight a lot, now Killer sees these fights more as a way to stay close to Delta, and not to scare him away.

I don't ship Soriel... Why?
Tumblr media
... because I honestly don't like their friendship...
... it's based on secrets and lies...
... also, Sans lets a child almost die and treats it like a joke, which is a deal breaker for most single parents (especially ones with dead kids)!
Tumblr media
Trying to scare Frisk for fun during first meeting...
Tumblr media
Tricking Frisk into shaking hands with a whoopie cushion...
Tumblr media
Telling Frisk to hide behind a lamp, then telling Papyrus about Frisk's hiding spot...
Tumblr media
Asks Frisk to play along with Papyrus' puzzles and doesn't wait for Frisk to agree or disagree...
Tumblr media
Does nothing to help Frisk with Papyrus' more dangerous puzzles (keep in mind, Frisk is a child and Sans made a promise to Toriel to protect Frisk)...
Tumblr media
Refuses to interact with Frisk, while Frisk bonds with Papyrus...
Tumblr media
Pranks Frisk with a whoopie cushion again and pretends to leave Frisk with the bill...
Tumblr media
Spills ketchup all over Frisk's dish, if Frisk wants the ketchup (he does give Frisk his meal however) ...
Tumblr media
Asks Frisk about a flower...
Tumblr media
Tricks and pranks Frisk again...
Tumblr media
Sleeps when Frisk is being chased by Undyne...
Tumblr media
Stacks hot dogs on Frisk's head...
The pranks seem at first seem harmless, but Sans is definitely trolling and messing with Frisk, with the pranks being a bit antagonistic...
He doesn't truly do anything to help Frisk, despite making a promise to protect Frisk...
He usually keeps his distance, even when Frisk hangs out with him...
Sans never truly acts like Frisk's friend, he only acts more like an acquaintance at best... and even then, he might not even truly be Frisk's acquaintance.
Tumblr media
Considering that he tells Frisk that the child would be dead where they stood, if it wasn't for Toriel's promise.
Then he jokes about how 'great' he is at protecting Frisk.
And then he chuckles about the thought of Frisk dying, if Frisk gives him a look.
Tumblr media
Toriel is allowed to move on from Asgore and date other people... but if she must date someone else... it should be someone that actually cares about kids and is honest with her.
