Hey @designercon goers! I’m on my way down to Anaheim to check it out. I heard it’s ILL; 855 booths of art madness. If you’re headed out today pop by the @thinkspace_art booth, 3627. WALK THIS WAY, the collaborative piece I did with @viveros_brand will be on view along side a ton of other talented artists as part of the return of the multi gallery event, Beyond Eden. DCon is open until 6pm today. Come by, say what’s up, and see it in person! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #kenflewellyn #brianviveros #thinkspacefamily #beyondeden #newcontemporaryart #oilpaintings #losangeles #hiphop #artistsoninstagram #artfido #artistsofinstagram #art_realism #boombox #collaboration #collaborativeart #mixedmediaart #acrylicpainting #designercon #dcon2019 (at Anaheim Convention Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5Q0UqzlJXi/?igshid=jby94j11dt2y

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐨𝐧 📍 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧⛰️
I cannot begin to tell you the immeasurable sense of freedom you would feel from being atop one of the most spectacular mountains in Rio De Janeiro 🇧🇷:
𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 ⛰️ - 𝐏ã𝐨 𝐝𝐞 𝐀çú𝐜𝐚𝐫
.
A cable car 🚠 ride up, you have about three floors to the top you can explore and take photos.
The view is just breathtaking. 🥰
Separating Rio De Janeiro from the Atlantic Ocean, this is probably the second biggest highlight of Rio, after Christ The Redeemer.
.
I felt such a rush of energy from being up there and just seeing the entire city from above. I think much of this has to do with the awe-inspiring magnitude of nature. There are so many instances in the world in which you can see nature in its greatest form, but I have to say few can beat that of a magnificent mountain view.
.

Pool side perspectives 🏊‍♀️
Casa Do Amarelindo is the ONLY hotel in Pelourinho with a pool.
This came as a true surprise to me, considering how hot the region can get, especially in the month of November.
.
A break by a pool is definitely worth appreciating on those extra scorchingly hot days 🥵☀️ . Not to mention it came as such an added bonus to have views of the Bay of All Saints right there, from the pool.
It was really nice to know I could escape to the pool when I could not reach the beach or even go by the Bay.
.
Another thing that I loved was the fact that I could have breakfast up there as well.
So breakfast, followed by a quick dip in the pool was perfection.
➡️ Would you go for a pool dip at Casa Do Amarelindo ?

As I had mentioned previously, Ubud is known for being one of the most serene regions in Bali.
Considered the cultural heartland of Bali, you could possibly spend an entire trip there just exploring Ubud.
.
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐛𝐮𝐝
🌺 Hike through one of the jungles 🌳
🌺 Visit the rice paddies 🌾
🌺 Check out a few of their beautiful temples
🌺 Hike one of their famous mountains ⛰️
🌺 Take a dip in one of the many waterfalls 💦
🌺 Go on a spiritual / healing retreat 🧘🏾‍♀️
🌺 Explore some of the art 🖼️ and culture
🌺 Visit the monkey forest 🐒🌳
And so much more!
.
☝🏾 One thing to note, if you are looking for beach, you won’t find it in Ubud.

𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 - 📍𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚 🛗
.
➡️ Did you know, in Salvador, you can go up and down…and all around?
Well maybe just up and down, with the famous :
📍𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚 🛗
One thing I can tell you about Salvador is that it is packed with so much history, and yes, that includes this elevator!
.
✨ 𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚✨
🛗 This elevator actually separates upper Salvador (Cidade Alta) with lower Salvador (Cidade Baixa)
🛗 It was built between 1869 and 1873
🛗 A one-way ride costs 3 cents (15 centavos) 💵
🛗 It is the world’s first outdoor, public elevator
.
It’s well worth the trip, cause upper and lower Salvador are actually quite different.
Both very busy, but each having a different charm to them.
.
⚡️𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩:
Watch your phone 📱 when taking pictures. Similar to Rio, cell phones are a hot commodity, and locals will tell you theft (especially by cyclists 🚴‍♂️) is very common.
Lower Salvador (Cidade Baixa), I noticed can get a bit more congested than upper Salvador, so just be on the lookout.

𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐫𝐭 - 📍 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐫ó𝐧 🖼️
One of the most monumental sites in Rio de Janeiro is that of the "Selaron Steps," famously known as :
🇧🇷 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐫ó𝐧
An intricate, public work of art that is an homage to the Brazilian people, it possibly one of the most sought after tourist hotspots in Rio.
.
𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐟 𝐈 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧?
In fact, a Chilean artist is the brainchild behind this 1990(s) reconstruction. What started out as a project to renovate some dilapidated steps, soon turned into one of the greatest works of art in Rio de Janeiro.
The artist, whose last name was Selarón, initially started incorporating tiles that replicated the colors and patterns of the Brazilian flag. An avid traveller, he soon started collecting tiles from all over the world (namely 60 countries) to add to his already vibrant mosaic staircase project.
He was so passionate about Brazil, that some of tiles on the walls surrounding the steps say :
‘𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥 𝐄𝐮 𝐓𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐫ó𝐧’ = ‘Brazil I love you – Selarón
.
His gift of artistry to the Brazilian people has not only transformed the community, it is now a huge part of Brazilian history.

𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐚 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
I don’t say that often about many places, cause it usually takes me a while to get my bearings and understand the true nature of a place.
But I loved it! 🥰
What I thought was just going to be a day of me doing light travel and eating, turned out to be such a culturally immersive experience from just walking down streets.
.
Considering this was my first stop 🛑 in South America, I truly came to understand why people love Peru so much…,𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝐡𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞.
.
And I was able to get back and forth starting with just a quick Uber ride, right out of the airport.
Although I was running on short time, I almost didn’t want to leave.
This was truly phenomenal first stop on my South American journey.

As many of you know I had gone missing for a couple of weeks, a few weeks back! Haha
Well, I’m sure you know by now that whenever I go missing, it’s usually because, I’m on location . 😎
.
This new series is truly going to be one for the books, and one that has completely taken me by surprise, because to be honest, I had never been to this region before.
But after this trip, I can officially say:
𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝟔 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟕 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.🔥
.
My IG feed had been filled with beautiful depictions of some of the places in this region, so the urge to visit had been tempting!
So where exactly did I go?
📍 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚
And we are going to start with : 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐮 🇵🇪
………………………….
Now though I am going to dive straight into this experience, we all know it’s the holiday season 🎄🎁🥂,
so I’ll be sprinkling in a little Christmas and New Years love and happenings around NYC.
So be on the look out for this too! 😆

(🚨Save + Share) 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐚 (𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜) 🥘
.
Yes, there is a whole category for people who suffer from this.
It’s also one of the reasons I often hear people use as a reservation to traveling solo.
We are human and of course breaking bread amongst community can be such a heartwarming thing, but so can dining alone.
I in particular love doing the later, because it allows me to fully enjoy my dining experience and just sit in the moment.
That however, can be a bit scary for some.
𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐚 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜. But there are ways you can challenge this.
.
✨ 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 :
🍽️ 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫, 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲
Yes, I mean, find a fantastic restaurant you have been eager to try, and book a reservation for 1!
🍽️ 𝐏𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 🤳🏾 📱
We live in an age where technology is a true distraction from human interaction or its potentiality. Putting down that phone down leaves room for spontaneous moments and lived opportunities we might not expect. Be open to this.
🍽️ 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 🧖🏾‍♀️
It is ok to enjoy your food without a million people to chat you up. Sit with your thoughts, people watch, enjoy the sights, etc. Through solo dining in public, you are having a communal dining experience in an atypical fashion.
🍽️ 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲 🎉
Restaurants and patrons love a reason to celebrate. So why not let your dining community celebrate you. You’ll feel less awkward and more like a celebrity!
.

Every other person in Bali is photographer. Trust!! 😆
From your private driver to tour guide to your waitress, they know how to get those shots in. I have never seen anything like it. At times, they even pose you.
I usually have my poses down pack, but it was actually nice to have someone yelling at you :
"Cross your legs this way! Angle your head that way! Straighten your back!" 😂
You will usually have one person taking pics with the professional camera, then one taking pics with your phone, and if you are lucky, you might have one posing you or telling you what to do.
The funniest part for me were the videos. Woo, they do A LOT! A whole lot of movement would be involved. I would be sitting there stressed for the camera person. I would always end up saying 'I didn't need all of that but thank you.' 🤣
In the end though, you get some amazing photography work. So thank you again Bali. 🥰❤️
