Got reminded by a moot on Twitter about this part of Beyond the Dark Portal and I cry so much for Khadgar and how much he cares for Alleria, but also how sincere and insecure and hurt he is by his circumstances. You deserve so much better beloved

AU where Alleria Windrunner, known to be open to using self-destructive forces to fight evil, becomes the first Fel "Blood" Elf.
How would this happen? Well ya see, in my favorite scene in Beyond the Dark Portal, Alleria hunts and kills an orc or five, and she kills at least one in splatter distance. She ends up with orc blood on her hands, and she almost licks it off her hands, but stops herself before she does.
Now, obviously, blood from a green orc is not going to be as corruptive as the blood of Mannoroth. But Fel magic is incredibly addictive. Like, in drug terms, it's like crystal meth. So she just has cravings off on and on, getting a buzz after every fight, with this growing shame surrounding her. Then she captures an orc and tortures them for information, and once she's done with him, she hangs him upside down and slits his throat. That much blood calls to the Fel energy inside her already, and she can't stop herself.
The rush is incredible, and the power moreso. And she wants more. Then the dreams start. Her brother comes to her in her dreams, begging her to avenge him. Sending her visions of some warlock on Draenor as if he were somehow responsible for her brother's death.
So she finds the warlock and drains him the same way. The visions don't stop, though. Instead, "Lirath" sends her new powers.
From there, it's all downhill. She would likely either have to be killed by Turalyon, or she would join the Legion at the end of BtDP.

Além do Portal Negro (Beyond The Dark Portal)
Tumblr media

Beyond the Dark Portal
I know this is a World of Warcraft book which I have read, it is very interesting now and then to watch and learn how to play World of Warcraft because it is such an amazing game, of course it requires some cash to play, nothing is free in this world, but who cares if we win and get the game or we lose and get nothing, we should realize the worth of a book before we lose it, in my world there are…

Ramble about Spectrobes world building: Humanity's place in space.
It's kind of wild that this game had more to be discovered because I grew up and replayed it and was able to understand the premise more.
⏰️Spanish is my mother language so replaying it in English when I was older got me a little messed up with the existentialism, like how Nanairo is the birthplace of humanity yet the other solar systems you visit, the "children" of Nanairo, are abandoned or destroyed by krawl.
⭐️ The High Krawl also had some existential implications, they show us Krawl aren't mindless monsters or "demons" or whatever, they're just as alive as humans and Spectrobes, they even have more sapience than Spectrobes... It's all so bittersweet, because yes Rallen saved Nanairo, and Jeena recovered history, but we didn't get to deeply understand why Krawl do what they do, and the krawl war goes on and on, Jado doesn't die, Krux doesn't die... Etc etc space horror?
🌐 Btw my theory about the underlying message is that exploration for the sake of getting humanity's mark on everything, and colonizing other planets might as well end up biting us in the butt because of the pure audacity to assume "intelligent life" has to be sapient (and our especific cultural sapiece btw), we can easily destroy life because we want to rush into space.
🌪 Maybe Nanairo humans tried to be a type 3 civilization, krawl felt threatened by being displaced by humans, Spectrobes simply can buffer humans being killed by krawl because humans can bond and train animals- so Spectrobes aren't "angels" either, but it's scary to think Geos can destroy planets as well if a human just tells them to.
⏳️ There's some mythological and/or religious themes to Spectrobes too. They mention Fate, Krux talks about Kaio like it's god, some savior that comes around only when real bad shit will happen to humans... He, aspiring to be a savior as well? ends up on the opposite end, becoming more alike the creatures that were causing him desperation. Jeena frames this as Krux reaching for power and sacrificing his ideals and humanity in the process.

Daily angst (Invasion of Quel'thalas edition!)
Arthas not only killed and raised Sylvans and some of her rangers; but Velonara who was dating a fellow ranger at the time (Ranger Alina) both rangers were tasked with guarding Jaina by any means necessary while Sylvanas went to face Arthas.
With reluctance, Velonara goes with Jaina to find out if the rumors are true, if Sylvanas had indeed died.
They walk through Silvermoon, using the path ultimately would be known as Murder's row; where Lirath was slumped against the wall of a Inn.
Jaina rushed over in urgency, reciting with tears that not only formed in her eyes, but started to run down her cheek. "No, no, Lirath. Please, please be alive."
Despite being ranger, Velonara was frozen in place with a shocked expression but her eyes held remorse. Remorse for her people, remorse that she left Alina alone and disobeyed her ranger-general.
A figure was approaching, hoof steps echoed throughout the now empty city that littered with the bodies of high borne elves.
Then, she heard it.
A wail full of sorrow and regret.
Both Jaina and Velonara had to cover their ears because it was so loud. After that wail had ceased, A man stood in front of her ontop a steed that was all too familiar to Jaina.
"Arthas..." She whispered before she took note of the translucent figure beside him, the source of the devastating wail she had heard just moments ago. She saw an arrow fly past her but Arthas forced the banshee to defend him.
Velonara, joined with Alina with ears starting to bleed managed step in front of Jania in a protective fashion.
Alina had her bow trained on Arthas, her eyes narrowed as she felt a familiar presence nearby and it wasn't her fellow ranger.
Her eyes then widened as she realized who it was; Ranger-General Sylvanas Windrunner.
Alina saw Velonara being attacked by Sylvanas, their friend, their sister and... their protector.
"Vel!" She hollered, she wanted to run and help... but her feet, they wouldn't move.
Claws ripped through the ranger's chest piece, puncturing a lung as Alina watched in horror as the woman she loved fell to the ground.
"No!" She shouted with a desperate cry as she finally ran over, sliding on her knees as Velonara fell into her arms.
Alina had tears streaming down her cheeks as she listened to Velonara's labored breathing.
"Focus on me, my love." The ranger said before slowly tracing her hand over a necklace she had given her.
Velonara coughed silently as Alina saw blood on the corner of her lips, the lips she kissed in the forest during their patrol. "Please don't leave me..." She whispered in Thalassian, sensing the woman in her arms didn't have much time left.
A weak, trembling hand was place on her cheek, wiping away any tears that started to form. "Vendel'o eranu." A whisper that was barely audible the human ear but Alina heard it clear as day.
"I... wanted to make you mine..." The crying ranger said in common, mustering a strong voice or trying to, at least.
Alina's ears twitched as her words registered within her.
"I... had plans... a ring." She could barely get every word out without her voice breaking.
Velonara let out a weak chuckle before coughing violently to which Alina ran a ungloved hand against her cheek.
"Elor bindel felallan morin'aminor..." She whispered before bending over and touching foreheads with the dying elf.
Valonara could only smile before she looked up at Alina, unmoving. Her eyes dimmed which confirmed Alina's worst fear.
The woman she loved for so, so many years.. was gone.
She began rocking back and forth with her fallen lover in her arms, crying loudly. A cry.... of a broken woman.
Sylvanas couldn't believe that she killed one of her rangers. She, Velonara and Alina were sister who were family to her within her ranks.
She thought back to Alleria, how she would always be with them when she needed to calm down from their mother's infamous arguments with her eldest child.
When there were no more tears to shed, Alina glanced at Sylvanas with the most sorrow the ranger-general had ever seen in her eyes.
Alina inhaled a shaking breathe before getting up and drawing her bow. She did had a job to do, a promise she must fulfill to Sylvanas; to protect Jaina by any means.
And... well, you know what happens to her.

I feel like I have to make this known, someone in a discord I’m in linked a whole ass screenshot of a post from here about how hard it was to design villains that eventually devolved into how Sauron from LOTR was hot af and it just reminded me of something I experienced--
Be me in 2013, 16 years old still in her WoW phase and reading quite a few books cause of course I was reading WoW books. Be me deep into Beyond The Dark Portal, I get to a part in the chapter I’m in-- Gorefiend and co. are approached by some Human and I quote--
Gorefiend watched, curious and not a little concerned, as the human entered the ring of fire-light. He would be handsome among his people, Gorefiend thought; tall and well-built for a human, with lustrous black hair and strong yet elegant features.
It’s Deathwing. They’re talking about DEATHWING.

I feel like alleria is an inspiring leader despite her inability with diplomacy mostly because she'd be passionate and earnest. she doesn't fight for causes she does not believe in, and she fights for them when she believes it even when others try to stop her. beyond martial skill, that's what I think would make her a compelling leader, enough so rangers followed her in going against anastherian's orders, enough so people ventured beyond the dark portal under her leadership, and that they named a stronghold after her, not just because they thought she died, but as symbolic of quel'thalas itself (It is fitting - the orcs destroyed much of Quel'Thalas, and so in return we will claim this, the one green region left upon this forsaken world.) she clearly inspires her followers, though it is never a purposeful attempt to do so. she doesn't try to make people follow and most of the time i'd say she's uncomfortable leading in general, and yet she repeatedly ends up in leadership positions, and the people who follow her genuinely look up to her and have high regard for her. and i think her passion and earnestness and devotion to whatever cause she sees fit to fight for are most definitely factors on that.
