"Bahrain GP (4th Race): 1st place (Bahrain International Circuit) - 'It was an incredible race, extremely tough. A good start was crucial and I was able to pull away from the pack, which was a big advantage as we aways had to go on scrubbed tyres due to the fact we had used almost all or them in qualifying yesterday … @.kimimatiasraikkonen was fast today and it was close, but I am extremely happy and very proud of the team.'" - november 29, 2024 📷 @.sebastianvettel / instagram

Your Champion | LN4
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lando Norris x Reader
Summary: The WDC title has been won by Max, but Lando actually doesn't mind as you both know his time will come one day.
Author's Note: i PRAYED that the championship fight would've gone on for longer (at least till qatar (which btw was a shit show)), but then i saw the light come back in lando's eyes + the vid of him congratulating max and i was just so glad for him bc it looked like a massive weight had been lifted off his shoulders😔
F1 MASTERLIST🏎
It was…
Relieving.
In a way.
The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix had been decisive for the title of Formula One World Champion.
Max had won the drivers’ championship. It was now definitely over for Lando. And even though he had been a good contender to the title, Lando’s season had mostly been focused on him getting his first victories ever since he’d joined Formula One – which the majority of people tended to forget. Max had been used to being on the podium and being on its top step for years.
This year was the first for Lando. From Miami to Singapore, with Zandvoort in between, Lando Norris had won three Grand Prix after spending the last four years not making it past P2. If he and his team kept driving walking down this path though, then Lando definitely had a chance for the next season.
For this one however, it was over.
And that didn’t really bother him to be honest.
Lando had partied like there was no tomorrow with the grid. Although they still had the last two races of the season waiting for them, everyone wanted to celebrate George winning the race as well as Max winning his fourth title. You hadn’t been very far from him, spending most of the night with the rest of the drivers’ girlfriends with whom you had formed a tight knit group. You were all giggling about the silliest and most random subjects, brainstorming gift ideas for Carmen and Kelly who wanted to offer presents to the winners of the day, and drinking until your respective boyfriends wanted to call it a day. You promised each other to hang out soon again, probably in Qatar depending on which WAG was able to come. And then you all went your separate ways, you leaving with Lando back to your hotel.
The ride was quiet, only the soft sound of the engine could be heard in the taxi. Far less loud than a Formula One car though, and almost lulling you to sleep. Looking out the window to admire the bright lights of Las Vegas, you smiled when you saw the sphere. She had captured your heart during the weekend and you’d found it cute how it had observed the drivers every time they went around it. You were hoping that the one in Abu Dhabi would be similar and got excited thinking about the final race of the year. Still daydreaming during the rest of the journey, you were brought back to reality when Lando squeezed your hand as a way to signal your arrival to the hotel.
Once back in your shared room, you took turns taking a well-deserved shower and then simply went to lie on the bed. The TV was off – none of you was in the mood to watch something and you were definitely too tired to focus on a screen – and the curtains were slightly open – a majestic view of ‘Sin City’ was presenting itself to you which made it easy to understand why the temptations there were so strong, not to be refused.
If someone were to ask you though, your view was a way better one than the one seducing you outside. While you were sitting up, resting against a couple pillows, Lando was laying on his side, his head on your thighs. You smiled as you passed a hand through his curls, Lando relaxing from the gentle and loving touch. It was such a peaceful moment for the both of you. No more stressing thinking about the championship, nor the comments, nor the team. It was just you and him tonight. That was all he needed. He wasn’t Formula One McLaren Driver Lando Norris with you, he was just Lando.
Lando who was self-conscious; Lando who didn’t believe in his own skills; Lando who doubted himself way too much for your liking; Lando who wondered if it was all worth it in the end; Lando who still hoped that he was capable of great things.
You, however, had always seen another side of this Lando. You were more familiar with Lando who made sure to deliver you flowers when you weren’t able to follow him to whatever country he was racing in; Lando who was adored by your friends because of thoughtful his birthday gifts to you were; Lando who would never go to bed if one of you was upset with the other; Lando who would buy you sushi when you were overworking yourself; Lando who never gave up despite the uncertainty.
Even when he was insecure, even when all odds were against him, even when half of the journalists criticised his lack of talent compared to more successful drivers and Lando himself was starting to believe them, he still never gave up. He had been close to do so several times – not his proudest moments. But every time it could have happened, he thought of you and your support throughout the years. He thought of his family, his friends, his fans. It gave him strength. It gave him the motivation to continue. And above all, he also thought of himself. He thought of past Lando, who had such passion and love for karting, who would be over the moon to know he had fought to become a world champion. Lando had been amongst the twenty best drivers of the world for the fifth consecutive year, and he would still be here during the following years. He had deserved his seat, deserved his achievements. And despite the lows, there had been so many highs that Lando knew he could never give up his dream.
He would be a Formula One World Champion one day. And you would be here to witness it.
That was your unknowingly shared thoughts at the moment. You were both hoping for this achievement to happen someday.
It also had a nice ring to it, especially when you thought about how you could would be introducing your boyfriend as a champion in the future. For now though, even if he wasn’t a Formula One champion to the world, he was still a champion to your eyes. And if you were to ask Lando about this strong opinion of yours, he would definitely agree with a cheesy yet romantic reply that would sound like:
“Of course I’m your champion, the best trophy I ever got was when I won your heart!”
And he would laugh at his own words – you would too, to be honest. But despite the unseriousness of his tone, you would see in his eyes that he meant everything he had said. You would recognise that look everywhere – the look of love, because you had the same one whenever your gaze would land upon him. Even if your only answer to that would be to scoff and pretend like it was ridiculous, the way that you would then squeeze his hand and bring it up to your lips in order to give it a light kiss was enough of a giveaway that you were moved by the meaning his words held between the lines.
You’re worth more than any prize I could ever get for racing. When I’ll be old and wrinkly, I’ll look at you and reminisce of everything we’ve been through together. And if I make the mistake of thinking about my career first, I know I’ll still find you easily in my memory because you’ll have been there for every milestone.
These were Lando’s thoughts, and what his eyes were trying to convey. And he hoped you understood every word. But even if not, he would gladly say them to you as many times as needed for you to get that you were his priority over anything else and that he would fuck a championship up whenever you want if your wish was to one day elope before disappearing from the face of the earth. It wasn’t necessarily in your plans at the moment, but the thought of retiring both your jobs to go live on a deserted island had been enough of a recurring joke that it was definitely an option in the future.
For now though, the option that you were both choosing was to enjoy the current moment and get a peaceful night of rest before being caught in the chaotic whirlwind that would be the next race during the following week.
..........

Let it go with the excuses already, today was on him he couldn't even beat his teammate today how you people expect him to fight max?he will put it in the wall in the last lap, oh wait it already happened, my bad
also max recommended devries lol let's not take those guys words , charles is currently fighting fraud allegations, unless his 2019 or 2022 start is coming it's only going downhill
Okay, fine, I'll bite. Let's compare Charles's and Carlos's perfomances in order to try and determine with as little bias as possible.
In order to constrain our parameters of our investigation to their current abilities as drivers, let's take the our period of investigation to be the whole of the 2023 season, plus the first three races of the 2024 season. We'll exclude the following races for Carlos due to circumstances beyond his control: Qatar 2023 (fuel leak leading to DNS), Las Vegas 2023 (10 place grid penalty due to track not being properly maintained), Jeddah 2024 (appendicitis). Likewise, we'll exclude the following races for Charles due to circumstances beyond his control: Bahrain 2023 (DNF due to technical issues), Jeddah 2023 (10 place grid penalty due to exceeding allowed quota), COTA 2023 (DSQ), Brazil (DNS due to faulty hydraulics).
There are cases to be made for other races for both of them, but these are races where they were either involved in a collision leading to a DNF or where grid penalties apply, so there's argument for driver error there. With regard to grid penalties, we're going to go by the final decisions made by the stewards regardless of whether the penalties were appealed or not. Races where they suffered technical issues in race but they still finished are not counted, as it shows a driver's ability to handle an unpredictable car.
Before we discount the races listed above entirely, let's have a look at where the driver who didn't have difficulties finished.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we're discarding pretty much the same number of points between them, so I feel happy discarding the following 7 races entirely from this analysis: Bahrain 2023, Jeddah 2023, Qatar 2023, COTA 2023, Brazil 2023, Las Vegas 2024, Jeddah 2024. Furthermore, in Las Vegas, Carlos finished 6th and in Jeddah, Charles finished 7th. This brings their points total across the discarded races to 46 for Carlos, 45 for Charles. However, Charles managed to score those points over fewer points-scoring races, and with a higher average finishing position, so for the sake of not convoluting ourselves we'll call it even and commit to just examining the points and stats of the remaining races not excluded from our investigation. The table below shows those stats. For simplification, sprints are not considered.
Tumblr media
So I think there are a few key things we want to consider: overall performance, reasons for retirements and driver reliability over our chosen time period. So we'll go one by one for each and examine in a little more depth.
For overall performance, it's easiest to see in a quick head to head. Carlos wins in race wins, Charles wins in poles, they tie in number of retirements (although Carlos was classified in ABU23 due to finishing 90% of the race distance), Charles wins in higher average finishing position, Charles wins in higher points total.
Next, we move on to reasons for retirement. Charles retired twice, once upon collision with Lance in Australia 23, and once in Zandvoort due to a damaged floor. Carlos retired once in Belgium 23 due to a collision with Oscar Piastri and once in Abu Dhabi 23 due to being lapped and running last without pitting.
For driver reliability, I want to consider the variance in Charles and Carlos's race finishes for reliability. A quick recap for the non-STEM people who may be reading this: the variance measures the spread of numbers in a dataset, and how far away they are from the dataset's mean. Thus, a smaller variance indicates less spread in positions that a driver has finished in, in turn indicating higher reliability. Charles has a variance of 6.46, Carlos has a variance of 8.25. It is therefore possible to conclude that Charles is the more reliable driver of the two. While on the subject of reliability, it is also worth noting that Charles has not dropped outside the top 5 since Monza last year.
So overall, anon, I'm afraid I have to reject your notion that Charles is washed or even approaching becoming washed. The data show otherwise. The only category where Carlos is superior to Charles in our time frame is race wins, race wins where Charles deliberately adhered to Ferrari strategy in order to help Carlos, and Max Verstappen was out of commission for the win for one reason or another. Carlos wins in luck, but for driver reliability, points scored, finishing position, Charles is the clear winner and the numbers show it.

The One Where They Get Back Together
Welcome to the masterlist for this phase of Amelie and Lando’s story, set in 2024—a year where they’ve finally found their way back to each other. After years of missed chances, misunderstandings, and unresolved feelings, they are now in a serious and committed relationship. This timeline explores their growth, both individually and together, as they navigate the challenges and joys of being in each other’s lives again.
previous year / next year
Their journey hasn’t been easy—far from it—but it’s exactly what makes this year so meaningful. It’s a story of second chances, healing, and the realization that sometimes, the right person comes back at just the right time.
Thank you so much for reading and being a part of this journey! Your support and love for these two means everything to me, and I hope you enjoy watching them figure it all out (with plenty of laughs, love, and maybe a bit of drama along the way). 💕

charles renewalgate, PR insights
charles renewed! yay! but was it an ordinary renewal announcement? hell no! so let's unpack that!
first interesting thing about the announcement was the leaking of it in the morning by spanish press. "Carlos Miquel leaked the news about the announcement earlier today; we can see what type of articles he wrote before, as we know he has links with the sainz family" which was very odd by itself because even the closest journalists of ferrari didn't know. it's all part of fred's 2024 strategy of tightening the access to information from maranello.
so the leak obviously came from the carlos gang who knew about it internally. why would they leak it? questionable. people discuss it's to gain public sympathy for carlos who is still struggling to lock a contract (and holds his singapore win as the great reason why he shouldn't be dropped).
then we got new information today about carlos talking with audi:
🚨 | Audi is a possible alternative for Sainz if progress isn't made in Ferrari negotiations.
Both parties will consider their options as talks waver
this is him applying the charles 2023 strategy when he used the red bull move allegations to put pressure on ferrari between qatar-las vegas (also known as the lestappengate)
now moving on, what was odd about the charles contract? not specifying its length. we got multiple quotes: CHARLES: "Today we are announcing that i'm signing for more years" FERRARI: "Charles Leclerc who therefore will continue to drive for the Italian team in the Formula 1 World Championship beyond the 2024 season."" CHARLES: "I’m very pleased to know that I will be wearing the Scuderia Ferrari race suit for several more seasons to come." the way the length is not specified is simply odd. it's not usual for a driver/team to not specify the timeline. only lance has that, but for different reasons as you may know. pr statements like these are SO perfectly curated, they go through multiple people, so this is a very deliberate choice. how it will unpack? we'll have to see.
charles took creative control of the announcement. while ferrari posted the classic graphic - a standard for renewals in f1 for other teams, charles went above and beyond and with his creative PR team put together a personal video that he even composed a song for. INSANITY. what does it say? compared to other announcements, he made it his own. and ferrari let him. why? because now he can, and they let him do it because he most likely negotiated all that and they just have to support him and not be the main source of his public pr -- he now has his own PR moves that he prioritizes over the ferrari ones.
f1 is going crazy! they posted a supercut of charles moments which is not a standard move at all, usually they just post the renewal graphic. they also teased the announcement with a few charles focused clips in the past week leading up to today.
why? well, it comes down to Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of F1 who has a lot of influence on the sport. he was vocal about a missing rivalry in the sport, and how the red bull dominance decreased interest in the sport as of recent. charles is exactly what they need, they want people to promise an intense red bull/ferrari rivalry so pushing charles on social platforms helps form the narrative.
i will further explore all interesting insights in the new tag: ferrari renewalgate bc i am noisy

Attention Attention we have a photo of the official seating at the drivers dinner and I need to analyse it so under the cut the photo and my analysis:
Tumblr media
Drivers dinner 2024 colorised
And here is my very expert opinion (yapping) on the sitting chart, my credentials are that one time that I did the sitting chart for Christmas to maximise the drama:
Starting from the fact that I'm 100% sure that the sitting chart was redone several times and there was a mad dash at the last minute to have Max and George as far as possible ( the first charts were done by George, the last one was absolutely done by Oscar hence the position) we have Oscar lando and Liam at the head of the table because 1 babies and 2 perfect for surveillance of the whole table, we do not want to lose any juicy tidbit, and to gossip without too much trouble of being overheard.
Then, on the right side, we have chair side or what I like to call the " you can freely get up without inconveniencing anyone" side where we have Yuki, needs to do his trip to the kitchen to scoop up some recipy, Ganyu, there fore the vibes and strategically in the center to try and keep the peace ( intercepting any flying utensil), Alex, there for the vibes pt.2 but for veeeeeery different reasons ( he is the to distract George and obviously doing a good fucking job), Valteri, he is just there him and Zhou were separated to ease them in the separation of not being teamates anymore and to calm Alex when he is too enthusiastic, and honestly I can't figure out if the last person before Charles is Pierre, likely place for him to be, or who he is so pls help.
On the left side of the table, or as I like to call it the " you are not going to get up for the entirety of this lunch/dinner so prepare your bladder because it's that or doing the shimmy of shame" we have in pole (eh eh see what I did ) Max, positioned near lando to try and distract him and if he is going to strangle someone at least it's a person that he shouldn't want to shunt in a wall next race, Colapinto, the sacrificial lamb that is between Max and the people he wants to throttle and person n.2 that he shouldn't want to shunt into next year, Esteban, there for moral support really, Hulk, moral support pt.2 and vibing with ceco and Zhou, ceco, vibing and trying desperately to not look George or Max in the eyes, Carlos, originally he was near Lewis to complete the Ferrari comari group but after las vegas he was changed to not be near Charles then changed again because they made up and now changed again so that George and Max cannot kill each other (he is tasked with been one of the screens in the case either of them is attempting to make eye contact with the other), and at the end of the table is George, foaming at the mouth because the seating chart was perfect ( he obviously was at the head of the table) but now he is relegated near Lewis and under the watchfull eye of Carlos.
At the end of the table we have Lewis, strategically placed there to try in sucking George attention by depressing him that next year he will be in Ferrari, and Charles, even more strategically placed there because my angel is a menace to society when gossip is involved (see Qatar interview) and he needs to be as far from Max as possible.
This is my totally real totally not made up analysis on the sitting chart! ( for legal reasons this is all a joke)

2024 Qatar GP: Winners and Losers
As always, it is time for my winners podium and losers podium. remember, no hate to any drivers, they are all extremely talented, but I will be honest about their performances/results. And boy was this a doozy.
Winners:
Zhou Guanyu
The smiles on everyone's face tells it all, Zhou brought home Sauber's first points of the season with a stellar race. Finishing in 8th place, Zhou was able to avoid the chaos on track, not incurring any penalties (which you would think is easy, but in this race was actually difficult) and had some fantastic overtakes in order to pull arguably the worst car on the grid into points position. It seems that the small upgrade package that Sauber brought, including a new front wing, has finally given that car some kick and the minute he had even the smallest amount of pace, Zhou took full advantage. Incredible for him, incredible for Sauber, incredible overall. And he got his first Driver of the Day out of it. Go Zhou!
2. Max Verstappen
After the penalty that took away his pole, Verstappen had a point to prove in this race. And he certainly did, taking the lead from Russell almost immediately, and fighting off Lando Norris for pretty much the entire race. Only when Norris got his penalty was Verstappen able to breathe, so this was no easy-breezy victory for him. But his incredible defense (especially after the safety cars) meant that he held them all off and came home to take his second GP win since the summer break, and first win as a 4x World Champion. Snaps to you Max Verstappen.
3. Charles Leclerc
Did anyone expect a Ferrari to take second today? I certainly didn't, not with Qatar being one of the team's worst tracks and their car seeming to fall off in the last few races. But Leclerc drove a strong race, sticking close to Oscar Piastri for much of it. Then when the safety cars came out, Ferrari chose their time perfectly and took advantage of McLaren's misstep with Piastri (pit right before the safety car) and Norris' penalty to get up to 2nd place. Some may look at that and think it was all luck, but Piastri was breathing down his neck for the entire race, especially during the safety cars. He had to pull off stellar defense to keep the faster McLaren behind him, and the wheel-to-wheel was brilliant.
Runner Ups: Pierre Gasly (for his brilliant P5 finish and defending against Sainz), Alonso (for a solid points finish), and Magnussen (for a points finish)
Losers:
Mercedes
This was a tossup between 1 and 2, but when you mess up so bad you ruin one drivers chances of winning and ruin the other drivers chance of even getting in the points you are the biggest loser of them all. They had pole, and Russell's bad start led them to lose it immediately. But it was the Mercedes seven second pit stop that took away any chance of even a podium in this race, and their table timing. Then Lewis Hamilton's car absolutely screwed him over the whole time, all paired with his multiple penalties. Honestly it was like beating a dead horse. Hamilton even said he was going to retire the car (although he was denied) due to how bad it was. Terrible Mercedes, terrible. Especially painful after how good Las Vegas was.
2. Lando Norris
This was just not Norris' race. While he had a stellar start, pulling into 2nd ahead of Russell, and he had brilliant attempts on Verstappen, he just could not get by the Red Bull driver (felt a lot like the last few laps of Austin). Then after not slowing under a yellow flag, Norris was a victim of the FIA's extreme penalties from this race, and took a 10 second stop and go penalty which sent him all the way back to 15th. He was barely able to make it into the points, finishing 10th. This meant that a) Ferrari crept closer for the WCC and b) Charles Leclerc crept closer for 2nd in the WDC. Bad day for Norris in the end.
3. Alex Albon
Albon had a very messy race. Multiple almost collisions and penalties rendered his efforts useless, and he ended the race dead last. The pace of the Williams car just wasn't there, but it was exasperated by Albon's risky moves that meant he got on multiple drivers bad sides, including Kevin Magnussen who, when overtaking on him, told him to '**** off' after Albon pushed him off road and almost caused a collision. A bizarrely mad race from the Williams driver, which earned him a place on my losers podium.
Runner Ups: Lawson (multiple rough penalties), Tsunoda (dropping so many places), and Bottas (for just missing out on points)
DNF Graveyard: Hulkenberg, Perez, Stroll, Colapinto, and Ocon. They deserved their own place.
Cheers,
-B

*winks at your from across the continent, very mysteriously and anonymously* rank all the GPs from sexiest to least sexy ;)
I hope you meant the sexiest to least sexy GPs of this season, because they're all I know here they are.
Tumblr media
Sexiest — Singapore GP. Why?
Ferrari radio: “Lando 0.8 behind with DRS.” Carlos: “Yeah, it’s on purpose.”
Hands down the SEXIEST team radio of this season, and the most entertaining GP I’ve watched until now. “We know about the bromance, Martin. Sainz and Norris, what a double act they’ve been.” Two former teammates and close friends working together without any prior planning to come out in P1 and P2? And did you see the post-race celebrations? Their embrace against the fireworks and the sea of fans cheering? That image lives rent free in my mind. Singapore GP 2023 will forever live rent free in my mind. My heart was bursting with love for them.
2. Sexiest / Lando Norris leads the British GP — Lando’s home race and my second favorite race of this season. I tuned in just in time to watch Lando’s overtake of Max at the beginning of the race and I’ll never forget the sound of the crowd cheering for him. Then there’s the Budapest (Lando-broke-Max’s-porcelain-trophy-with-his-champagne-popping) GP and Austin.
Suzuka is somewhere between the second tier and “Okay, what damage do you have? Talent.” (these are all Lando catchphrases btw!) because he. did. not. kiss. his. trophy. and neither did Oscar. Ugh! Had he kissed it, Japan would have easily been in the second tier, but now it has been demoted to the third tier.
3. In Mexico, Lando climbed 12 positions from P17 to P5, which in my book is incredibly sexy. Apart from his collision with Checo, which puts Abu Dhabi in the “Chaos? Chaos.” tier, I’d say that P5 is a pretty sexy result.
4. Oh Qatar…Qatar was a rollercoaster of emotions. McLaren won a double podium in the end, but we’ll never forget how HARD Lando was on himself after he got his lap time deleted during qualifying. It broke my heart to see him so down. It's a good thing that he recovered quickly after that.
5. And the least sexy title goes to Las Vegas, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Lando’s DNF in LV after that terrible crash was a real heart stopper. Also, he had to pit six times in Bahrain.
Lando and Oscar went from finishing P17 and P20 in the first race of the season to P2 (and P1 for Oscar after the Qatari Sprint). Final result: 10 / 10 sexy season, will root for the same outcome or an even better one in 2024.
