• He leans down, puts his arms around your shoulders and hugs you from behind. A funny scene will surely be created because of the height difference between you. nice ass luci

• He whispers in your ear with a smirk on his face. And sure enough, his breath hits your ear, and he ends up smelling your hair calmly.

• Another version is, when you're sitting on his lap while he's doing paperwork. It depends on how you're sitting on his lap. If you're facing him and resting your head on his shoulder, the best for him place to kiss you is, on your temple or forehead. But if you're leaning back on him, your shoulders and the back of your neck will be bitten in addition to being kissed by him.

• We were talking about forehead kisses. Yes, this is one of the types of kisses he gives you. You can't change my mind, he has a very cute father figure behind that bitchy face. He usually cups your cheeks with his two hands, keeps you steady, bends down and kisses your forehead. Of course, you get this kiss also when you fall asleep on the sofa + his warm and big coat that covers you like a blanket.

• Hand kisses. Hand kisses. HAND KISSES.

• The French kiss is also one of his favorite. He tries to act like the gentleman he's, but sometimes, (always) he gets out of control and sadistic. So you have to attend classes with swollen or bruised lips. lol

• He'll happily accept any kind of kiss from you as long as it's in private, but, 1) If he wants to make others jealous (Mammon or Satan lol)/ 2) punish you for a mistake you made, He'll definitely kiss you in public.

• let's get to the second brother. (my best boy I love him) A man who tries his best to look normal but his face turns completely red. (It's fun teasing shy Tsundere guys Lol) At first he's so awkward. He doesn't know how to ask you to kiss him. (Everyone says that he has had many partners. But look at this kid! I think his only partner before you was Luci's credit card...)

• He has no idea what he's even doing! So he needs time to change from "Oi...H-human...I..I let you k-kiss the... great Mammon... I-I mean...No! You know what? I take my words back! Go away human!" *runs away with red face* to "Hey babe... come here I wanna kiss ya..."

• After banging his head against the wall several times and Lucifer hanging him from the ceiling for making noise. he finally realizes that he loves you and you love him back; so he finally calms down a bit and opens up to you more.

• He likes to kiss you in public especially in front of his brothers. He wants to prove to everyone that the Great Mammon is your FIRST man. (Maybe everyone sees him a submission in bed, but that's another issue that has nothing to do with this post, we'll talk about it later.) He holds your chin or cheeks with one hand and kisses your lips after looking into your eyes for a while.

• I feel that he's more into biting than kissing. Mammo bites your lips, cheeks, ear lobe, neck and even your nose. Of course, he does it slowly because he doesn't want to hurt you.

• He's the type to hug you tightly, with his arms wrapped around your neck and his head close to your neck and head, smelling your hair. Then he presses his cheek to yours. Just like a jealous boy who hasn't received attention from his crush for a long time.

• One of his dirty secrets in kissing? Showing off with your lipstick mark on his body. (Tbh I really love his skin color) He's a model so it's natural that he has an attractive body. Now imagine the lipstick mark on his body. Maybe with every kiss his body trembles or tickles and laughs a little, but after that he goes in front of the mirror and takes a picture of himself.

• He also likes very simple kisses on the cheek. When all his brothers have offended him in some way and he's sitting on the couch feeling lonly. Then you come and kiss his cheek and caress his face and tell him how much you love him. Well, he can now endure their bad behavior for another hundred years.

• Another one of his favorite things is to put his head on your lap and sleep. I can say that biting and kissing your stomach and thighs is another thing that he likes to do but is shy about.

• Giant fluffy puppy. Pure sunshine. Sexy cute dady. I don't know how to describe him better (lol)

• Kisses? You can't escape from this man. Good morning kisses, good night kisses, hello kisses, goodbye kisses, praise kisses, comfort kisses and sudden kisses are a must.

• He has no problem with expressing his feelings in public. tbh, he believes that expressing his love for you in front of others is necessary and something romantic.

(Brothers will get jealous, and Barbatos keeps warning Dia, not to jeopardize his position as crown prince.)

• {"Y/n... you make my heart beat faster; see?... come here... no, no! You can't run away dear!..."}

• Most of the time you sit on his lap like a little child. You're shorter, so it's difficult to reach his lips. What's the best option? Kissing his chin will surely melt his heart.

He looks at you with surprise for a moment and then, hugs you tighter with a warm smile and kisses your cheek.

• He likes to hug you when he's doing paperwork and kisses you whenever he's tired. You're his best motivator.

He gets bored quickly, so every ten minutes you have to spend time with a little boy who plays with your hair, rubs his lips on your neck and makes unintelligible sad noises.

• He's a softy. So it's not like he's interested in biting you. (However, it's not that he has no interest.) He's just afraid of hurting you. What if he presses his teeth too hard and breaks your bones?

• Okay, you can't tell me that he's not into praise kink. You just stand facing him when he is sitting (cause he's too fucking tall bruh), stroke his hair and kiss his forehead. • And also a man who's interested in privacy. well, doing things like this (kissing, cuddling, blah blah) in the Demon Lord's castle isn't something  right to do. Also, nothing interesting will happen if a child (Dia lol) sees you guys in that situation.

• {"You seem to be doing well, don't you, Y/n? How about you come to my room for some tea?..."}

• And you know when he says something like that in the school hallway, then, gives you a smile like that and then moves on his way; It means that interesting things will happen while having tea in his room.

(I'm sure even if he wants to propose to you, he'll do it with a box of tea in his hand.)

• Oh! You want him to kiss you? What a shameless little human you are... He giggles and bows; kisses your forehead, cheek, nose and even your eyes. Then, he fixes your hair and walks away from you with a smile.

No kiss for lips! The school corridor isn't the right place for that! go to horny jail Y/n...

• A feeling tells me that Barbatos has hand fetish and you CAN'T change it! He likes to kiss your hands. He usually plays with them, massages them or puts moisturizer on them. He kisses your palm and each one of your fingers. Then he slyly stares at you. Are you blushing Y/n? yes you are. And if you kiss his hands? His heart melts completely. (the first time you did this, he was completely red) Thank him for his efforts and take care of his hands.

• Contrary to everything that has been written about him, something tells me that this man is a pure, soft and kind sweetheart who prefers everything to be fluffy. and Yes, neck kisses when you're cuddling IS a must!

• At first, he's really gentle. Before doing anything, he asks your permission, kisses your hand, caresses your cheek... After kissing your eyelids and cheeks, he finally kisses your lips slowly.

• Then, he looks at you with seductive eyes and slowly turns his face away from you. (Of course, at night before going to sleep, by remembering these movements, he asks God for forgiveness many times.)

• (But we all know who horny he is...) So you have to cover your neck every day and avoid wearing short clothes for a while.  Unfortunately, Asmo will ask you out loud if this is the new fashion or not; And you just laugh in embarrassment.

• Let me give you a piece of advice. Best place to kiss him? Between his shoulders, somewhere between his two wings. I'm sure he's very sensitive and ticklish there.

• Our old man is not someone who gets too touchy with you quickly. Maybe he flirts with you, but he maintains physical distance to some extent. And when he gets comfortable with you, he will certainly do whatever he wants without any shame.

• He is one of those types who appears from behind you when everyone's sitting in silence and suddenly bites your earlobe. And you have to muffle your sudden scream so the brothers don't notice anything.

• Although he kisses you in front of demon brothers on purpose to make them angry. And in fact he's happy because they can't kill him.

• (Luci and Satan finally work together to find a way to make Solomon's death look like an accident.)

• In fact, there are very few times when he really kisses you out of love and really thinks about you. (Solomon looks cold and serious in that moment but he's really good at it.)

• His favorite part is your lips. Most of the time, your kisses end in a biting fight.

This might be a stupid question but you sometimes talk about symbolism and how certain myths are made to show certain things. Like Ganymedes being taken, showing how beauty was a divine trait. I was wondering what the myth of Caeneus can be about. Now the overpowering of Poseidon against Caeneus shows again how the gods are powerful and you can't resist their will but what about the whole changing his gender thing? It just seems out of the ordinary for a god to then grant said mortal a favour afterwards. Idk maybe im thinking too hard about it lol.

That is a very good question! For there doesn't seem to be a direct association with for example Greek mythos and religion and the transformation to a man to achieve divinity (as opposed to some buddhist traditions to my knowledge that one needs to be incarnated as a man or something similar, take it with a grain of salt because I am not 100% sure on that)

So since there isn't any direct association to it, the few cases of characters changing their gender in Greek mythlogy are interesting to say the very least. For example one other prominient example is prophet Tiresias who was turned into a woman after a bet between Hera and Zeus as to who enjoys sexual activities more; men or women The story of Caeneus (born Caenis) doesn't seem to be linked to something like that. I believe it is theorized the first mention is at the Catalogue of Women by Hesiodic writing although the actual mention from it comes from later sources more specifically Acusilaus, who lived almost one century after Hesiod. Now Caenis becoming the favorite of Poseidon is undoubtedly once more the symbolism that a human posesses some extraordinary qualities that make them dear to gods. Poseidon fancies her and has sex with her. According to Acusilaus, Caenis didn't want to bear the child of Poseidon out of her own reasons Knowing myths such as Zeus, the gods have sex with mortals in order to leave offspring behind so it seems that Caenis knew at that moment (like Alcmene in Heracles's case) that she would be pregnant so she asks Poseidon to be spared from it. Poseidon then transforms her into a man but not just any man, an invulnerable man. In one way it seems a protective move on his part; not only is Caenis now given a body of a man so someone more powerful in society (given how men still enjoyed the several priviledges women couldn't) but also Poseidon provides for his lover a body that is protected.

(I wouldn't say it is unusual for gods to offer gifts or favors to their lovers or proteges though. We have for example Zeus offering prophetic powers to Tiresias after he is blinded by Hera as a compensation, Cassandra was offered also prophetic powers by Apollo, even if it turned into a curse after Cassandra refused Apollo's hand, according to sources even if she had promised she would marry him. Athena was to grant immortality to Tydeus but she took it back because of Tydeus's cannibalism etc)

From how I see it is that if you follow the will of the gods then you will be fortified and lifted socially. That following the gods will make you stringer (in this case Caeneus is invulnerable, so he is fortified and stronger). Poseidon also made sure that his lover wouldn't be targeted by indiscreet eyes and such so maybe again we have a symbol there that gods and the dedication to gods has a fortifying nature. I the end of the day after all Caeneus was a figure that plays his part to the Centauromachy as well even if his ending there was not happy according to Pindar (he was buried under the earth because he was invulnerable to the centaurs' weapons) it seems that the fortification of his as a result of his liking by a god played its part there.

Can't Catch Me Now: Lucy Gray and Katniss Story-Tie Analysis

I have not been on Tumblr much over the past couple of years but with the coming film The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on its way I knew I'd be dusting this old page off. The Hunger Games series is one of my all-time favorite book series and the films are some of my favorite book-to-film adaptations, so to say I am pumped for this upcoming movie is an understatement. And to top it all, I have been obsessing over Olivia Rodrigo's new song Can't Catch Me Now, which if you've read the prequel, you'll know that it perfectly ties Lucy Gray's story to Katniss' journey. As always I want to warn anyone who might read this that spoilers for the upcoming film and Suzanne Collins' novel lie ahead. Also fair warning, this is super long cause I don't know how to be concise.

In preparation for the prequel film I have re-read TBOSAS and I am currently re-reading the original THG series (I am currently on Catching Fire, if anyone cares to know lol). I am also planning on a movie marathon the week of the prequel release, which I fully intend on subjecting my boyfriend to as he recently admitted he has only ever seen the first (and I simply cannot let him continue living life with no clue on how wonderful Peeta Mellark is). With that said, I have had a few thoughts, which I wanted to share before the release knowing that I will certainly have more thoughts after I have seen the film.

Honestly, I am going to be ridiculously obsessed for the next several weeks. I also know I wrote a couple of analyses on the differences between Snow and Katniss and the early games vs. the later games, which I will re-post so people can read them if they haven't before.

Enough chit-chat though let's get to it.

The parallels between Katniss and Lucy Gray are quite extensive and beautiful despite the characters being in many ways polar opposites. There is the saying that "Lucy Gray Baird is a performer made to hunt while Katniss is a hunter made to perform". This is a great summary of their overall character profile, and while I may at some point do a breakdown of Lucy Gray vs Katniss, I first want to write about how Lucy Gray and Katniss' story are far more connected than some might have realized. Part of the realization for me actually came while listening to Olivia's new song.

The chorus of the song reads as:

But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze

My footsteps on the ground

You'll see my face in every place

But you can't catch me now

Through wading grass, the months will pass

You'll feel it all around

I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere

But you can't catch me now

No, you can't catch me now

In terms of Katniss, I think it's been obvious for sometime that Snow particularly despises Katniss because she is a strong reminder of Lucy Gray Baird. She is a girl from District 12. She stood out during her Reaping, and swept the Captiol off their feet during her time in his city. She not only sang in the arena, but she sang a young girl "to sleep" with the very song Lucy Gray sang Maude Ivory to sleep. She used the Captiol's berries to save herself and Peeta, just as Lucy Gray used the Captiol's snakes to save herself. She wears a Mockingjay pin, the very bird which Snow undoubtedly relates to Lucy Gray and rebellion (far before it truly became the symbol of rebellion).

Katniss may not be like Lucy Gray in personality, but to Snow, Lucy Gray's spirit must seem very much alive in Katniss, and just as he tried desperately to rid the forests surrounding District 12 of mockingjays, this is one Mockingjay he wants to destroy.

The second verse of the song goes:

Bet you thought I'd never do it

Thought it'd go over my head

I bet you figured I'd pass with the winter

Be something easy to forget

Oh, you think I'm gone 'cause I left

This verse summarizes Snow's mindset at the end of TBOSAS, as we know he thinks he is safe from the threat of Lucy Gray. Her games have been erased, as time passes "there will be a vague memory that a girl sang in the arena" and even that too shall pass. However, where he goes wrong is when he fails to understand the deep connection and love the other Covey share for Lucy Gray. Despite not seeing how the story ends for them, or even having a solid explanation of Lucy Gray's ending, we at least know that Lucy Gray and her songs were not wiped from existance. Whether they believed, as he supposed, that the mayor was responsible for Lucy Gray's disappearance does not erase their connection to her.

Snow may have chosen never to allow love to control him again, but he did not erase the love those children had for Lucy Gray. Her music became all they had left of her so you can bet they continued singing them and sharing them, even if they had to do it on the down low. (I also share the common fan theory that Maude Ivory is the grandmother to Katniss Everdeen, and I'm hoping the film confirms this). Either way, Katniss clearly learned those songs from somewhere, which for Snow would have been a siren's call from the great beyond that Lucy Gray did not pass with the winter and she was not as forgotten as he had hoped.

Then we go into the bridge of the song where Olivia sings:

You, you can't, you can't catch me now

I'm coming like a storm into your town

You can't, you can't catch me now

I'm higher than the hopes that you brought down (repeats)

This is my favorite part of the song. Not only is it moving and emotional but it ties so much of Lucy's story to Katniss'. Both girls were like storms in the Capitol, sweeping the people and the nation into their stories so they could not help but be invested. Both were near impossible to control, despite Snow's best efforts, and both had a spirit of hope greater than Snow's ability to crush the highest of hopes. There's also something deeper, which intended by Olivia or not, makes this song perfect for the series. The lines "I'm coming like a storm into your town" and "I'm higher than the hopes that you brought down" is sung from the point of view of Lucy Gray. Both bring to mind images of the rebellion in THG: Mockingjay. The rebels stormed into the Capitol and their hope was higher than the hopes and lives which Snow had already destroyed in an effort to quell the rebellion.

However, just like Katniss becoming the Mockingjay, or the symbol of the rebellion, Lucy Gray had become her music. She was the anthem of the rebellion. If Katniss inspired hope, Lucy Gray was that hope. The hope of freedom. Dead or not Lucy Gray was finally free and her song reflects that truth and the rebels clung to it. Dead or alive they would be free.

Furthermore, Lucy Gray's song not only led to the freedom of Panem, but it also led to the freedom of Peeta's mind from the lies and brainwashing inflicted on him in the Capitol. Remember, Katniss always associated Peeta with hope until Snow brainwashed him. And if you'll recall, Peeta's first true breakthrough in regaining his memory of Katniss and his love for her was when he heard her rendition of "The Hanging Tree". Lucy Gray not only stormed into the Capitol but she stormed into Peeta's muddled memory, and her music was higher than the hope Snow had brought down. Lucy Gray's song led Peeta and Panem into freedom, and it helped to restore Peeta as the hope and love of Katniss' life.

Lastly, the ending of the song greatly foreshadows Katniss' journey:

There's blood on the side of the mountain

It's turning a new shade of red

Yeah, sometimes the fire you founded

Don't burn the way you'd expect

Yeah, you thought that this was the end

Of course, we all know the end is far from over for Snow. As Lucy Gray told him once, "The Capitol show isn't over until the mockingjay sings". Katniss' story ends with her singing Lucy Gray's lullaby to her children. Katniss was the fire founded by Snow, and despite his best efforts, it didn't burn out or even burn the way he expected it to. The line "the fire you founded" is also perfect to describe Snow and Katniss' dynamic because in many ways Katniss was only a threat because Snow threatened her. It's the same dynamic as Harry and Voldemort's. If Voldemort had left Harry and his family well alone, Harry never would have been the perfect enemy to thwart him. In the same way, if Snow had left Katniss and her friends and family well alone, she may never have come for him the way she did or joined the rebellion.

Interestingly enough, if Prim's name had never been called not only would the rebellion most likely have been avoided, but Lucy Gray's music may very well have been truly forgotten. Assuming Katniss is the only one left who actually remembers the songs, we know from reading the books that Katniss does not like or want to sing simply because they are painful reminders of her father. If Prim had never been threatened and Katniss had never been a contender in the games she would have been subjected to a life of mining and may have let the songs fade from memory as she lived out her miserable slave life in District 12.

But as we know that's not what happens, and instead the memory of Lucy Gray and her music is forced from Snow as Katniss is forced onto this journey proving the memory of Lucy Gray is very much still alive except this time Snow can't catch her now.

it is time for. NOT a tng update. but a ds9 update!!! wednesday* we watched "emissary" and actually i'm not clear on if we watched both parts or just one since my website is wonky but either way whatever we watched FUCKING RULED. i'm dispensing w the normal bullet points so i can ramble as much as i want

*it was last night actually but it took me all day to type this up so i'm scheduling it to go up later. it got looooong lol

the first most striking thing i noticed about ds9, or at least the first half of what we watched, is that it FEELS like a video game. someone tell me if this is insane. you're playing as sisko. you get flashbacks of his backstory, you get thrown into this starbase that's in shambles and it's Your Job to fix it up. you go around meeting all the secondary characters who will be in charge of this or that gameplay aspect or upgrade system or shop: kira, o'brien, quark, odo, jadzia, julian, etc. the FOLEY in this was insane. all the noise in the back CONSTANTLY suggested a lively and whole universe outside of our direct line of focus - it felt so alive in the way not even the enterprise in tos did. i could picture myself in the opening gameplay/cutscene like slowly walking my character through what will become a hub area that i gradually upgrade over time while kira or o'brien narrates the list of problems. you're starting at the bottom rung and expected to fail, but you can FEEL the potential even in just one brief walk through the promenade. IS THIS INSANE? it feels like an insane thing to say. someone PLEASE write in if you have ever had similar feelings. if they haven't made a ds9 game yet, they should.

i also notice that not only is the quality of the ds9 episodes worse than that of tng and tos - no one has remastered them into 1080p, apparently - but the lighting is very different, as well. it felt WEIRD to see picard and the enterprise D shot this way. but it also lends, perhaps unintentionally, perhaps not, a really gritty atmosphere to what is normally a very clean universe. i guess since we mostly see it from the inside of starships, it would feel like a sterile place to us, but you know how everyone always compliments star wars on how lived-in it feels? the buttons are wearing, sand is stuck in their fancy thingamajigs, etc? this was how ds9 felt to me.

okay. the characters. let's fucking get into it. what's so fun about ds9 in general is that in all other trek shows i have picked out my specialest little guy in 5 seconds flat. tos was spock EASILY. tng i knew it was data before i started. i already know seven's gonna be my favorite voyager character, but i have NO IDEA!!! who my precious little baby in ds9 will be. what a fun surprise for everyone involved. if anybody wants to place bets go ahead.

like, i thought tng had a pretty solid lineup (hence my eternal frustration with its wasted potential) but they're not anywhere as eclectic as ds9's core cast. iirc, sisko and o'brien are the ONLY humans who for once are outnumbered by trek's cool aliens. i'm saving sisko for last because that was the part of ds9 that touched me most profoundly, but for o'brien - it was a little sad to see him leave the enterprise, because picard was right, it WON'T feel the same without him, but i'm really excited to see why everybody says he suffers more than jesus and to find out if the eyepatch is a permanent thing or if it's just mirrorverse fuckery. either way, i win. like, o'brien is cool, and i always miss him when i don't see him in tng, and i'll continue to miss him in tng from here on out, but he could never shine in that show. it's too stiff and too reluctant to put its characters through any real development. it's a shame they can't ALL move to ds9, tbh.

the next person we met was kira, who was WONDERFUL. it took me a minute to warm up to her, not because there was anything wrong with her, but because i figured at first glance she was ds9's version of ro laren, the obligatory bajoran cast member to connect us with the bajoran/cardassian plot - which would of course be good because ro is awesome, but it's not necessarily anything new and i already love ro. BUT I WAS WRONG! kira's personality is very distinct from ro's; really the only thing they have in common is not liking cardassians which lmao Yeah. my favorite thing about kira is that she smiles when she's upset or angry. that's Such an acting choic, to have her grinning at the cardassians when she's almost certain they're about to blow her whole space station to smithereens. all love light and respect to ro laren my beloved, but i think i actually like kira BETTER.

odo: WHAT is that thing he can do oh my god...is this a changeling?? i got that result in a star trek quiz once. i really loved when he snuck aboard the enemy ship posing as a bag to hold gambling winnings. i was like oh they showed us the bag to show us it will get stolen soon BUT NO it was odo!!!!!!! such a fun surprise. the exposition on his backstory was a little slapdash but i enjoyed it all the same, i cannot wait to learn more

i was most nervous to meet quark because i hate hate HATE the ferengi in tng, but he was actually so entertaining! like, you're never gonna be able to entirely remove the antisemetic undertones from the ferengi as a whole, but he was smart, practical, and endearingly longsuffering. i love his wryness and deadpan humor. i have a feeling he is gonna be so much fun to torture lovingly.

meeting julian bashir felt like meeting a famous person. for the longest time all i knew about ds9 was that cardassian guy wanted to FUCK that gay little doctor, so it was a little hilarious that in his first scene he was asking a woman* out on a date. sir do you not know you're gay?? even funnier was the fact that out of everybody in the pilot he had the least lines. we barely know him, but we finally met him. relatedly, i can't to wait to meet more cardassians, especially The cardassian. so far, they're still all gay.

*jadzia!!! gnc/trans queen! the trill stuff is SO interesting and watching that worm slither in and out of people during those flashbacks was so wonderful but also made me wince. i love that she used to be an old man and the jokes about it are actually really funny without feeling transphobic or anything SO FAR. who knows if that changes. i feel like we haven't gotten much yet from her either but i cannot wait.

SISKO. damn. where do i even...first of all, he should be allowed to bite kick kill picard. i say this as someone who experienced a genuine THRILL of pleasure upon seeing picard's borged self again. i loved that whole thing, i'm obsessed with the borg. that it comes back in this small way in ds9, and has such a HUGE impact on the storyline, was so so so fucking good. i always say tng tells and not shows, but even after just knowing sisko for a few moments i felt keenly how much it devastated to find his wife like that and THAT WAS JUST FROM THE FIRST SCENE. and it only gets better! he's a great dad. he's FUNNY. he is not above manual labor. he wants to tear picard limb from limb. and he exists HERE.

the wormhole alien sequence was. so good. it was SO GOOD. explaining linear time to aliens. the aliens using his memories to talk to him. HE EXISTS HERE. back and back and BACK to finding his wife in the rubble because HE EXISTS HERE. he CHOOSES to exist here. he existed there when he applied for a transfer to earth. he existed there when he confronted picard. he never left the ship because HE NEVER LEFT THE SHIP. they dragged him out but they COULDN'T DRAG HIM OUT. he exists here because he won't leave her to exist here alone because damn it we can't just leave her here. that was the most insane series of events i ever watched. like, because at first you DO think it's the aliens taking him back there BUT IT'S HIM. HE IS DOING IT TO HIMSELF. when the penny dropped i got literal chill bumps and when the aliens said "it's not linear" and he, openly weeping, replied "it's NOT linear," i genuinely, truly, shed a tear along with him. TNG COULD NEVER. none of those miserable fucks EVER cry!!! sisko did it in the god damn pilot!!!!!!!

and like, the fact that he can choose to stay at the space station at the end, to shake picard's hand, to exist SOMEWHERE ELSE. AAAAAUGHGHGHG

i really loved the final confrontation, too. kira is so so so so good, again, i LOVE that she smiles when she's angry, when she's sad, and it's not a fake smile, it's genuine and honest emotion, and she's genuinely and honestly going to start eating the cardassians for sport if they don't leave her alone. it was very scrappy, them pretending to be bigger and badder than they actually were because they had no other choice. you get the feeling everybody on the station and indeed the station itself is barely holding together, and what little togetherness is present comes from sheer spite.

anyway, absolutely 10/10. i was so worried ds9 wouldn't be good but it not only met my most furtive hopes it surpassed them with flying colors. it's gonna be REAL hard to go back to tng after this.

I know that this might be out of your usual circle of favorite characters. Or a little strange ship too...

But I always found it interesting to think about two rebels of rhe family. One from house of black and one from house of Weasley.

Sirius Black and Percy Weasley.

I think the fandom has slept on Percy's potential as a lead character for good story.

Harry dislikes percy right along ron and twins etc but if we see from certain angle he was nit wrong in not trusting dumbles. And he having trust in ministry and authority figures and not wanting to be part of a vigilante group is also not bad thing.

Him having fights with parents is also nothing new, we all at certain age think that we know better than them.

Percy is a gryffindor though. He didn't say no because he was scared to fight. He said no because he didn't like Dumbledore approach. Again understandable as order was full of teens and ya with bright future if not for albus pushing them to fight

Mr and mrs Weasley make it seem like they don't want their children to fight but since they are affected by the war we can't say them no too. But they did everything in front of children in ootp. R + h+ h will be the front warriors because of harry but twins and Charlie and bill do follow their parents' foot steps..

The dynamic bw Sirius and percy I would like to explore but my brain is not much help in it as to what will be the interaction be like.

I mean with Sirius having seen with his own eyes that under Dumbledore regime they are all like sitting ducks, dumbles not helping his own unlawful imprisonment situation, making things difficult for harry.

What if the two join forces.

I too dont like age gap romances but in Wizarding word people live more that 150 years so what is a 14-15 year age difference.

If you are irked about a romantic relationship bw the two than you can share your thought on them platonically joining forces to help each other...

Sirius has a unique situation because he understand what it feels to just move away from your family. That it is not all sunshine and roses. That it is a tough decision. He also has been wronged by order and it's leader by ignorance and indifference, same as percy who like a typical middle child feels left out.

Sirius knows that though ministry is useless, this time he also doesn't wants to bet all his chances of win on Dumbledore like last time...

Ok, first of all - I do not mind age gaps. It would be pretty hypocritical if I did, since my partner is 17 years older than me lol I cannot blame Percy for fucking a hot old man when I, too, fuck the hot old men. I find the whole concept of 'age gaps being irksome' demeaning - not to mention rooted in sexism, homophobia and ableism. An adult should be able to love another adult. Period.

That being said - Percy and Sirius... an interesting concept.

Overall I think, while they have ALOT of similarities, they have some aspects that would grind against each-other. That doesn't mean I don't think they can work, I just think they have a hump to get over: - Sirius' judgemental nature and being a playful bully. - Percy's pride and protective nature (being like his mother).

Sirius is an understanding, compassionate guy... but there are things that crawl right up under his skin: - Like 'abandoning' the people you love. He isn't an idiot, he can tell Percy hasn't abandoned his family, but he would think he is wasting his time at the Ministry of all places rather than actually being there physically and emotionally for them. - He also can't stand stiffs. His parents, his brother - even Molly herself, doesn't want the kids to do anything... He is a firecracker. He likes to poke sleeping bears and break some rules. - Percy is proud, to a ridiculous level. He will close his eyes to the truth in order to keep pushing. He has decided on what he will do - and even if everyone he loves says no. He has the childish desire to be a Big Grown Boy which leaves his ego easily bruised... and Sirius would find that naive, and perhaps a little too much like his brother. Percy may be an adult, but he acts like a snotty little brat.

The main dynamic I could imagine them having - Is Sirius being annoying, like a third Twin, someone that pokes fun at Percy's expense for a laugh... but with a burning, caring desire to not let Percy become another Regulus... or another HIMSELF. Facing the pain of having to lose a sibling before he has the chance to reconcile with them - just because he was stubborn.

I think Sirius would want to SAVE him from his own mistakes... and for Percy, having yet another person see his ambition as a mistake would be aggravating. Sirius' earnestness with his concern would harm his pride. And that's an interesting dynamic to work through. Perhaps, forced to abandon his pride - like being fired from the Ministry - would open Percy up to listening to an old dog who has seen the 'truth' of the world...?

Maybe spending more time with Sirius and seeing how the Ministry has treated him - how they continue to treat him - would disillusion him to the Ministry. He believes when his family says Voldemort is back, and he believes Sirius when he says he was innocent... and so he finally has to make himself wake up from his dreams and put his burning passions to a different goal.

Sirius is trapped in his house... but Percy is free. Maybe it starts as just running errands, but turns into a team. The both of them working together - maybe Percy even working within the Ministry, spying for Sirius specifically. Spending all that time alone together, moping about becoming jaded, drinking about their dreams going up in smoke... I mean if you want intimacy or romance that's a perfect launchpad.

I know in the extended text below its alot of negative stuff but I would DEVOUR a good fic about them. I would LOVE that. If you are planning on writing one WRITE IT - and if you aren't... any recs?

Extended thoughts below (900ish words)

Firstly... I love Albus. I stand by him and most of his decisions... though I agree that Sirius is probably not the biggest fan and for good reasons... but I don't think we actually see him disagreeing with Albus much in canon...? I might be forgetting something. Sirius is DEFINITELY keen on the 'child-soldier' thing. He FIGHTS for Harry and the kids to be involved when they are underage. If Percy wants his entire family out of the war, especially his siblings... Sirius wants them in. An interesting conflict.

I don't think Percy didn't join the Order because it was 'full of teens' - it wasn't. It had 3 teens that visited sometimes - and they were kept in the dark until they were 17. Dumbledore wasn't making child soldiers, aside from Harry - but what choice does he have? "...with bright futures if not for albus pushing them to fight" They won't have ANY future if they don't fight for their lives. By the end of GoF it isn't a question of if, but when: When will Harry be forced by fate to fulfill the prophecy? When will the Burrows' protective charms fail and expose them? When will Hermione fight for her life as a muggleborn? These events are guaranteed. Not hypothetical.

I know this is a tangent, but Albus fought in possibly BOTH Muggle World Wars and three Wizarding wars. He knows the horrors of war. He tried to shelter Harry, to keep him at arms length, unaware of politics, hidden in safe places... but he couldn't do that forever. Especially not when the Ministry was unhelpful, most of the Wizarding World was blinded by propaganda - and he was dying.

Shit I talked about Albus too much again, what was I saying? Oh yeah - I don't think Percy didn't join the order because of that. I think he simply had faith in the Ministry and Pride in himself. His older siblings left the country, leaving him as the eldest. His father stayed in a low-paying job he was constantly putting at risk... and wasn't trying to be promoted. He wanted to turn his families life around. He LOVES his family.

While Sirius knows how difficult it is to leave family you have a complicated relationship with - he left his family because he rejected them. He numbed himself to their fates the best he could.

Percy left because he loves them. He wants to support his little brothers and sister. He wants to make his Mother proud and earn his fathers respect. He was going to work his ass off in these turbulent times and work his way up to being Minister of Magic.

...Sirius would think that is very cute. He is jaded. "You really think Cornelius Fudge got to his position through 'hard work'' and 'honest effort'...? Oh, you sweet boy... how naive." But I also think it would bamboozle him a little: "You love your family, but you left them? You aren't fighting with them? You're messing about at the ministry instead of being their knight...? You're being a cute little secretary or whatever to the same old bastard that pushed for me not to get a trial??" Sirius is loyal to a fault. He would acknowledge Percy's drive as admirable but think he is putting it all in the wrong place. Sirius could see Percy's heart, his intent, his love - in a way that others don't... but he doesn't relate. Percy's heart is good - but he's off chasing silly dreams. This isn't the time for dreams. This is war.

Percy was a proud prefect and Head Boy - exactly the sort of rule-enforcing snob Sirius would terrorize for fun. That's not a deal-breaker or anything - but Sirius is more like Fred/George. An interesting dynamic since Percy can't stand bullying.

Percy has faith in the Ministry, enough to stick with them all the way until the last book - and thus, has little faith in Sirius Black. He isn't going to out him, but he doesn't see him doing much either: 'Sitting drinking in your mothers house... Not exactly trying to clear your name, are you?' He might even feel some embarrassment for how the Ministry failed Sirius, which could come out in all sorts of victim-blamey ways.

Percy doesn't have many people on his side, but he doesn't feel like he NEEDS them on his side. He is a big tough man all on his own! Sirius might show him compassion and some understanding, but I don't know if Percy would care to listen to him. He is a bit independent man now - and, for awhile, people trying to show him compassion and understanding might make him feel patronized.

Just the image of Percy sending back his christmas jumper, disowning his family... Sirius would go off his rocker. He knows what family pressure is like - but he also knows what the Weasley dynamic is. He knows what Percy is pushing away from and it is pathetic. They love him in all the ways Sirius' family never did, and for Percy to reject that would hurt Sirius, too. "...You made your mother cry, Perce. And Molly isn't like my mother."

For anyone who doesn't know, Siri is one of the brightest stars here in the Tumblrverse. She's not only a talented writer, but she has a soul that glows when connecting with community. And the community that she has built through not only her writing but also the warmth she exudes herself as reader, is supportive and fun and just lovely to witness.

As I've been sick in bed since I got home on Monday, I've been rummaging through Siri's Library like a racoon 😄 Here are some heartfelt recommendations:

Muse - Steve Rogers smut. This is THE sentimental favorite for me and I'm not 100% sure if it's the first fic of hers I read, but I say it is because it truly is just the first story that comes to mind when I think of Siri. Reading this story was like someone had cracked open my skull and peeked into my brain and wrote out the type of Steve I needed wanted to see 🫠

Pound Town verse - I don't want to be biased so I'm not going to tell you which characters to stay away from *cough PETE cough* buuuuuut I am so enamored of so many stories and pairings in this one. And each pairings or trio offers their own unique dynamics, challenges and characters that just absolutely get me involved with them and root for them (except Pete, I actively root against that mf'er lol). Even in hating Pete, that's how great Siri is at bringing a character to full life and getting me to care about what happens to them. I'm absolutely hanging on for Steve the doctor, Mr. Freezy (idk what happened to me), Andy & Ari, and LLOYD IS SO GREAT IN THIS VERSE, YOU GUYS!!!! For those of us who love crazy mean to everyone else but NEVER HER? You need this Lloyd in your life, bet. Ransom....I can't figure out if he's gonna hurt his Omega or not so I won't gush about him til I know more but their first part HAD ME BY THE THROAT.

I wish my head didn't hurt so I could write more. There was a specific pairing in a Verse she wrote that I believe was called Necessary Arrangements with a reader affectionately referred to Hissy Kitty (I think) and Ari ... they had a chapter that once again felt like Siri had somehow peeked into my heart and saw what I was craving and actually needing and wrote it out in a story. Not only was it hot, but it was one of the best EMOTIONAL RELEASES I ever experienced because I realized that what I think I need might not make me the weirdo I think I am and that was just so cathartic and freeing for me.

Please go check out Siri's stuff but please don't just like her work. Please reblog it and leave some type of comment, even if it is as simple as OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS! Cuz that type of interaction is food for her creative mind and heart and really helps.

Sometimes I think about like. When I first really got access to the internet, so much of what I liked growing up suddenly became dirty.

I was raised as a girl. And I liked plenty of girl targeted media. Kim Possible and My Little Pony were some of my favorites. I also watched some media targeted more at young boys. Primarily anime. Like Dragon Ball Z and Naruto. Because my dad liked those, so he didn't really have an issue with me liking them too because it was cool to him to share some interests. Which was nice.

And eventually we got a family computer and I was allowed to use it pretty regularly starting mainly in middle school. And I wanted to draw all my favorite cartoon characters.

It was really easy to find reference images of the Naruto characters and Dragon Ball Z characters I liked. Most of the image results were screenshots from the show or cool fanart of them using their powers to blow stuff up. And I figured finding images to reference for Kim Possible and My Little Pony wouldn't be any harder. I had started watching Friendship Is Magic recently. Pinkie Pie and Rarity were my favorites, and I wanted to draw them. And Kim. And Shego.

And it did not take a long scroll down the Google image search results to see more than just a little suggestive or outright explicit porn art of all of them. And my curious mind wanted to know why that was in the search results. It didn't seem to me like that should be so easily available. But it turned out a LOT of people. Mostly grown men. Decided the ponies and Kim and Shego were sexy and decided to draw and post on many many non-adult catered websites a lot of porn.

And suddenly my pony figures and Equestria girls dolls felt like sex objects in my bedroom. And my Kim Possible fanart sitting in my sketchbook felt dirty. And the shows weren't as fun to watch anymore. I didn't end up finishing all the seasons of Friendship is Magic.

I sort of just threw myself into the boy things I was allowed to like since then. People didn't really have any questions about that, especially since I socially transitioned to male in highschool. I bet plenty of them just assumed I liked boy stuff to go with my new boy gender lol.

I wish I had still enjoyed Kim Possible and My Little Pony when I was younger though. I missed those medias but felt like I couldn't even touch them anymore. Especially after I went through a sexual trauma in highschool that I honestly don't want to publicly recount. I want to rewatch both series for fun. But I still can't work up the nerve.

And I think a lot about like. How I was lucky to have boy interests to fall back on because I know and knew plenty of people raised as girls who weren't allowed to watch boy targeted media at all. Who probably went through something eerily similar and then had nothing at all that felt okay to watch.

And sometimes I wish this was more important to people when they discuss media consumption and fandom. Sometimes I wish people were more interested in adult centered fandom sites for their horny art so at least some kid on the internet knows it's going to be porn before they choose whether or not to click. Sometimes I wish some of the first things I heard about when engaging with fandom centered around kids media weren't the top ten most disgusting porn fics. And even though I don't post explicit NSFW on my art Tumblr, I try to make it clear I find Transformers characters attractive so that people understand that before deciding to follow me even there or view more of my art. Because I actually think open and up front disclosure of "I am an adult who finds cartoon characters attractive so keep that in mind before you choose to view my work" is important. And honestly the least I can do.

And I'm not like. Saying you have to stop drawing cartoon characters sexy or whatever. I know I'm not going to stop finding Transformers robots hot. And I'm not out to advocate for censorship. I just think like. People are too used to pointing and laughing at sites pushing "kid friendly" fixes to their apps that don't do anything but frustrate users and just mean porn goes untagged. And are too used to just. Seeing cartoon character porn unfiltered cross their dash. That even well intentioned people don't really stop to pause to be like. Hey maybe I don't want my horny drawing of a kids show character to be at the top of Google search results. And maybe I should filter the image appropriately with the sites' filters or choose a more adult site for it in general.

Because honestly kids should be allowed to enjoy media without adults' sex fantasies being constantly inescapable to them.

Probably Through the Fire. It was such a sad ending! It had to be done! Someone said "What kind of sane person would write an ending so sad???" Literally made my day as a writer.

Nope. I be in my own little corner of the innanet and all my comments and reblogs have been positive! It might change with my Kang fic and I'm okay with that. Block button is my bestie.

YES! A thousand times yes. So far, they've all been one shot smut fics that resolves itself. I have some pt 2's coming, but I'm so behind on Tyrone asks. I'm sorry!!!! I will get to them, promise.

Never did a crossover. My fandoms are all over the place and the only one to use for crossovers is Marvel and I'm not that confident yet. I don't hate on folks who do, but not the type of fics I be reading.

Not that I know of and I hope it never does. That's so heartless and unnecessary. Everyone can write. You don't need to steal.

Nope. That would be a huge compliment though!

Nah. But I'm constantly flinging my fic ideas at friends and they share with me. I love it.

I'm so not a person that ships, it's terrible. Canon relationships bore me to tears or I know that the writers are gonna do some fuck shit to break them up, so why bother? However, I'm obsessed with Attoye and Janine and Gregory from Abbott Elementary.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Believe it or not, I write fics in the moment and release them in the wild before I have a chance to go back and change everything. I only plot my series. And I plan to finish both series! I've been trying to think of what other series I can do.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I write dialogue pretty well. I'm able to write things in character and pay attention to their characteristics.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Do we have all day? LOL. Nah, I think scene descriptions are still my biggest weakness. I always put them in a white room and it's hard picturing it well enough to write it down. I'm trying to work on it!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I haven't done it. Only because Google translate only takes you so far and it doesn't take nuance into account. And I appreciate when there's translations after the fic. It's hard to copy on mobile and put it into Translate to figure out what was said.

I just started fic writing this year. LOL. I used to say I missed a crucial part of writing culture as a teen. But it was a Marvel Loki fic.

I can't choose between my babies! But it would probably be my Loki series. One of the chapters I finished, I was like??? Okay, you fuckin' ate that. I felt so proud of myself as a writer, that self-satisfaction is what I'm writing for.

Kory's one of my favorite characters ever,but then I got into fandom and everyone seems to despise the writing for her. I'm confused what's wrong with her? Also adore DickKory and their baby 🥺

Hmmm well here's another essay on my favorite character of all time.

Kory is one of a kind and most people agree. I stopped trying to figure out why people are forever unhappy with her a while ago. Red Hood being lame had nothing to do with Kory's character arc in s3 and yet they'd have you believe it somehow ruined her.

Her story with Kom gave her a solution to returning to Tamaran and bigger better powers. Though of course folks won't acknowledge they were wrong about her powers being an upgrade...because they are blue. Which them being pink was suddenly a thing everyone cared about during s3 for no actual reason. Just like they don't acknowledge other characters don't get to fly either. Just like they'll drag the CGI when she does fly anyway. Because again...never satisfied.

After season 2 a lot of people said she had no storyline and I knew then it wasn't about Kory as an individual. Not how she changes and grows or her powers or any of that. It's not really about her it's about Dick. Specifically sex scenes with Dick. I know this because of the praising of season 1. What deep character arc and storyline did she have in season 1? Oh right she didn't but she was with Dick. That's just a coincidence though right. Don't get me wrong I love season 1 but it didn't do nearly as much for her as season 2 and 3 did.

I bet they can't tell you what female character on the show is better-written anon. Go on and ask them LOL. Is it Babs? Did they want her to be written like Dawn? They can say they are disappointed we didn't really see Tamaran without pretending all the white characters are getting everything. They aren't. That's a lie.

I wanted to see Tamaran and her culture but I did not need it to be exactly like the comics if we did. Anyone who read the comics knows the choice to leave out certain things like her background as a slave or her pining for Dick was for the best. It wouldn't translate well for any woman but would especially be terrible optics with Anna being black. Imagine thinking Greg is racist for not having scenes of Kory being whipped and branded or made to feel unwanted by her white love interest. It actually doesn’t add up at all but that's what they are saying.

If people are mad about a ship that's fine but Kory has arguably the best writing on the show. Like say you just wanted them to bang don't drag her legacy down.

Anyway, this is my all-time favorite version of Kory and DickKory. She is treated with such high regard and respect and I love that for her. Dick is also equally there emotionally so she's not out here insecure over him and his angst. And yes their baby girl is the absolute cutest!!!

Art reposting etiquette

I see art theft happen a lot, and whether or not it's true or has just been happening more frequently in the circles I follow I can't help but at least feel like it's becoming more and more of a problem.

To be clear, "reposting" is downloading art from a website that you did not make or own, and uploading it as a separate post, regardless of where and how it's presented - with notable exception of header and profile pictures assuming they are not trying to imitate the artist. Not all art theft is reposting, but all improper reposting is art theft.

As cut and dry as "stop art theft it's bad, don't repost art" posts make it sound, there are several benevolent reasons people may want to repost such as:

Believing they are spreading the artist's influence around the internet

Adding intrigue or a visual aid to a fanfiction

Sharing some neat art they thought was really cool

Just to name a few

Assuming the best in people, these are not necessarily bad reasons and DON'T MAKE PEOPLE BAD, but many often don't understand there's a dark side to the reposting issue.

People who may want more art may be unable to find the original creator

People may not realize that the artist makes rent with the very artwork you're enjoying and they may be looking at stolen premium content meant to put food on the table

People take art and further edit it so that it becomes even harder to trace back to the original

Malicious websites and bots find popular fanart and illegally use it to produce bootleg merch. This has a double-whammy effect when someone sees the merch IRL when out and about and wants it because it's cool art of their favorite character but don't realize the artist is actively being robbed.

Reposting art makes it harder for the artist to track down the thief and take legal action as well as actively funnels traffic away from their business. By and large it should always be assumed that reposting for any reason is damaging to the artist's wellbeing; and frankly, if you don't care you're actively hurting someone, it makes you the asshole, not me for calling you out.

But, that isn't to say reposting is NEVER allowed, but ONLY UNDER EXTREMELY SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES. That's the point of this post.

Before you can decide if you should even attempt to repost art, check these things first:

If it says directly on the art "do not repost" don't waste your time. They are not going to make an exception for you.

Check to see if the art is already on the platform you're planning to upload to (especially here on Tumblr). Often, artists make it a point to put their work in very specific locations for their own reasons. They may not want their work on your website at all and you need to respect that.

Gain the artist's explicit permission after explaining where you want to repost their work, which work you want to repost, and why with how you plan to credit them. If you gain permission, keep a copy of the conversation for your own protection. If you do not gain permission, don't repost at all.

If you gain permission to repost art, these things are an absolute necessity:

Mention of the artist's name

THEIR main platform of choice

link to the original piece used

It would likely look something like this:

Artwork uploaded with express permission by @[artist] on [website], found here - (hyperlinked to original piece)

Bonus information to include:

Additional social media handles of the artist

Link to the artist's Patreon and/or Ko-Fi if available

Link to artist's store if available

Hyperlinking the image itself so other users can just click it to find the work/artist

Remember reposting should be about the artist, NOT YOU. You didn't create the work, and even if you supported them via Patreon it still doesn't belong to you, nor are you entitled to it. A commission you personally paid for is the only piece of work of that artist's creation you are ever entitled to unless otherwise stated in a contract when you bought it.

To continue to cover my bases I'm going to address some stances that may pop up about the issue:

"I didn't know reposting was that bad!"

It's okay. That's why I made this post. In general, as a supportive fan and consumer you should try to learn how artists are rewarded for their work on different platforms. YouTube is different from Instagram is different from Facebook is different from Tumblr. Learn which best ways to support your favorite artists in the ways that are most beneficial to them, even if all they ask for is respect and a little appreciation. And do take down any art you may have reposted. It can continue to do damage by remaining up, but removing it almost always mitigates any future harm and genuinely helps. Now you know better and can be better moving forward!

"I can't get ahold of the artist for permission."

Don't repost it then. Remember, at the end of the day reposting is only good for the reposter in fake internet points or actual money/intellectual property stolen but always tangibly hurts the artist. It sucks, but they have a right to determine where and how their hard work is displayed.

"Whatever, I'll do what I want. Lol"

Enjoy your takedown. Hey, artists, did you know you can find each website's terms of service and figure out how to submit a report with the offending post and user, and they're usually good about getting it down within days?! Look for "misappropriation" that's your ticket! 😊

But seriously, repeat offenders can get permanently banned from sites and even sued for actual real-world money and damages over your precious fake internet points. It actually pays to not be an ass!

"But I just want to support the artist and reposting is so easy!"

You know what's even easier?

It's literally only one or two clicks to support the artist or tell them how much you love their work! Most other platforms make supporting content creators just as easy, and some platforms even PAY the creators based on them or enable them to grasp opportunities to be paid!

"But I don't want to bog down my followers with a huge reblog dump of one person's stuff."

Put it in queue to space it out, then.

"I don't have money to support the artist so I repost instead to give them exposure."

Time and time again it's been proven that reposting actively funnels money AWAY from them. You don't have to monetarily support them with much. Buy one thing from their store or give them $1 on Ko-Fi. If you can't even do that, tell them you love their stuff and shout to the rooftops where someone else can pay them; but don't make it harder for them to get paid. Too many artists "die of exposure."

"Why do you even care?"

I AM an artist. I currently support artists with real money monthly because I love their work. I only ever make money off my own art on commissions, and that relies on people being able to find me. I'm not even the one supporting my two children, husband, pet, and medical expenses with only this option to pay for it, and you bet your butt I still would be pissed if I ever found out my art had been misappropriated. Some people do this to SURVIVE and I want to see that those who do have as little unnecessary struggle with it as possible.

"It's fanart/fan content put on the internet for free I can do whatever I want with it!"

At least in North America the law says you can't. Did you know that the way laws are currently written, if someone takes a picture of you and finds a way to make money off that photo they don't owe you a dime? They hold the copyright to it. When art is displayed publicly, that copyright is not surrendered and is automatically afforded to the artist by virtue of it being their specific expression and work. By being their work, they can actually sue you for stealing their property.

Ask Disney, they're really good at it.

And to close this out I want to say one more thing: the internet has changed a LOT in the time I started browsing from the early 2000's. Rules are different, cultures are different, and for younger people especially you may not understand how some have had to (and still do) fight tooth and nail over this internet space and still make it.

If you didn't know all this, THAT'S OKAY! You're learning, and the internet is more or less a wild west right now. That means it's equal opportunity to be a killing field or a place we can lift up and support each other. Reposting is just one corner of the bad things that can come of it, but now you know how to help and even start reversing the damage.

Learn about how people who upload free content make money. When you find misappropriated work, report them to the site and try to inform the artist - don't even acknowledge the thief, just slap a ticket on them and move on. Teach others how and why reposting is bad and what they can do to help.

If you love free content, show respect and protect it. Otherwise, artists will have to put it behind a paywall and that content you loved will disappear over time. Respect will get you a much greater return than entitlement.

Hey, you said some stuff about Bobby earlier and i was wondering...whys he gotta be deep and complex? Can't a bully just be a bully for no reason?

I can’t tell if this is serious or not, but I’ll bite because I love to talk.

It’s because, it’s all there, if you look!

Bobby is messed up! A lot! Like hey, I’m all up for asshole characters being assholes just cause they want to be, but Bobby isn’t the case! Nils is the case of someone being an asshole because they are, Kitty is the case of someone being an asshole because they are, Maloof is the case of someone being an asshole because they are. They all live in wealthy families with caring parents that spoil them and let them do whatever they want. But Bobby… Bobby has problems.

And he has a lot of them.

The movies on Bobby’s profile aren’t just “lol, he’s edgy” garbage, you can very easily draw lines from Bobby to the characters in those movies. Take Texas Chainsaw for example. The hitchhiker they pick up in the beginning is carrying around roadkill and pictures of dead animals. Guess who has pictures of roadkill and dead animals on his Campster profile? Guess who could be found, in-game, torturing animals? Bobby. There is a connection you’re supposed to draw here. This character is someone who Bobby identifies with.

And assuming that Bobby identifies with this character, you could see that he is troubled. This character is horribly abused by his father, he is absolutely messed beyond repair due to the trauma he was put through. However, this character is not sympathetic, none of the characters Bobby identifies with are sympathetic, not in the slightest.

Especially, especially Tony Montana from Scarface. There are a lot of parallels to draw from him. You just have to look and put 2 and 2 together:

They both have a lackey they treat like shit.They are both criminals that have gotten time.Most importantly, they both love a girl they really, really shouldn’t be around.And they both drive every man away who gets a little too close to her.

And seeing as how they have this much in common, what else is there? Tony has parental issues, again, like the hitchhiker in Texas Chainsaw. He visits his mom and she chases him out of the house, saying “Why do you destroy everything you touch?” and I bet this is really upsetting for Bobby to hear in the movie. It gets him right in the heart, he’s heard things like that uttered from his own mother.

Again, Tony is not sympathetic, at all. He is someone with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He’s not someone you want to be, he’s not someone you want to identify with or look up to. But there is not a doubt in my mind that Bobby sees himself in him.

And while I don’t think Bobby identifies with anyone in Hellraiser a lot, he does recognize the disordered family, the father who didn’t help his daughter when she needed him, the mother who allowed her uncle, who molested her, to come and snatch her father’s skin and threaten her again.

Even if you want to ignore the movie parallels, there are STILL a ton of things in-game and on Campster that show that he has major problems. You just need to look a little beyond the surface. 

Bobby is messed up. He bullies ruthlessly, treats his one friend like shit, tortures animals. He has 1, single redeeming quality, and it’s that he wants to change. He’s willing to, he tries. And the only person who can help him is Chloe. He just has to be good, he has to learn to behave. To not hurt people anymore.

The fact that he wants to be better, to change, says a lot. Someone who’s an asshole just because they want to be wouldn’t want to change. A spoiled, ungrateful brat wouldn’t want to change. Only someone who is troubled, who was raised with a certain mindset governed by unkempt trauma, who never thought there was another way to be would want to change.

“But, Morry! He just wants to change so his crush will like him, any normal person would!”

But here’s the thing, if his parents loved him unconditionally, spoiled him rotten, then why on Earth would he change for one stupid crush? If people are going to love him no matter what, he could get any random chick he wants! Why change for space case over here? Spoiled brats are more likely to want others to change for them.

At the end of the game, when Augustus shows up, Bobby is shown crying. Why would they show a shot of Bobby crying if it wasn’t relevant? Why not Dogen, or Lili, or even Sasha? They’re all main characters with father issues too, so why Bobby of all characters? Why have it at all?

Just a random shot of Bobby crying at Raz’s loving father, who came to help him. Think what you will about Augustus, I won’t go into detail about him, but this is what Bobby knows about him at this time, and it makes him sad that he didn’t have that sort of figure in his life.

Look, I know characters could be interesting without having to be super complex or have any sad, tragic backstory. Heck, my favorite camp kid is Franke! There’s nothing complex about her! There’s nothing really sad or angsty about her! She’s just a dumb gay valley girl and I absolutely love it! But Bobby’s case is not simple, at all. He’s traumatized, and messed up in more ways than one. And that’s the canon. Me saying “he’s traumatized as hell” isn’t “uwufying” him or making you sympathize with him, not unless you’re projecting, which is something I strongly, strongly discourage.

The fact is, Bobby has a story, and people need to utilize it better, because it really, truly is something interesting.

Coming up with excuses to hang around the engine room was getting harder every day. Delivering messages for people was always an easy bet - the priest couldn't be bothered to crack his old knees on those stairs anyway - but the stupid crew on this stupid ship didn't send messages to the resident tinker very often.

She could always break stuff.  Parvati was always down to fix it, and whenever someone brought her some broken trinket, she got the cutest expression on her face - a weird mix between excitement and exasperation.  All of her shyness just completely vanished as she scolded them for being so careless with their things, revealing the true bullheaded nature behind her stammering, eager-to-please front.

But how long could she keep "accidentally" breaking her stuff before Parvati confiscated it, just like she did Felix's mechanical tossball action figure?  Not much longer, that was for damn sure.

And she couldn't just... show up and linger. What excuse would she use for that?  "It's too loud out there"? The engine room was way louder than the rest of the ship combined - even when Ellie and Vicar were screaming about philosophical bullshit in the cafeteria and Felix had his tossball match turned up to drown them out. Besides, she had soundproofed her bunk specifically to give herself a quiet space.

"I'm interested in mechanical engineering?" Ha! What a laugh. Every single person on the Unreliable knew that Nyoka didn't give two shits or a fuck less about fixing her own belongings, as long as she had the bits to pay someone else to do it.

The only option left was honesty, and let's face it: that wasn't her strong suit. She had a reputation as a badass (if constantly drunk) bounty hunter to maintain. Confessing that she enjoyed hanging out with the dorky engineer made her sound like a lovesick puppy - which she wasn't, for the fucking record. She didn't like Parvati like that. She just like getting the girl the ramble about her favorite topics, watching her face crinkle in concentration as she struggled with a complicated mechanical part, the way her face turned out a particularly off-color joke. There was no love there, and she'd sock anyone in the mouth that would even dare to suggest such a thing.

And yet, Nyoka still found herself lingering outside the cafeteria, sneaking furtive peaks at Parvati.  Look at her. Nibbling that snack cake like she's a baby sprat. God, she's so freaking adorable...  She turned away, her lip curling in a sneer of self-disgust as she took another drag from her flask. Even the rough burn of old whiskey couldn't drown the way her heart pounded against her chest.

God, what had this quiet mechanic from Edgewater done to her?

She didn't even realize that her feet had carried her into the room until she looked down and saw Parvati staring up at her. Her lips were smiling that tight-lipped smile that all polite folks gave when unexpectedly bumping into someone they barely know, but her eyes were confused, maybe even a little frightened. She hated that look. She wanted to grab the girl's shoulders and shake some common sense into her, to scream "Why are you afraid of me?! I'll kill everyone on the ship and myself if it would protect you!"

But she wasn't that dense. That would just scare the poor girl more, and the very thought of Parvati fearing her turned her stomach. Instead, Nyoka twisting her own lips into a smile and forced out, "Hey there, tinker. Didn't mean to scare you."

Parvati quickly shook her head in an obvious act of self-preservation. "Oh, not at all, Miss Nyoka! I was, um, just eating a quick snack. Got to stay fueled for the road!" She giggled awkwardly, and Nyoka wanted to wrap her arms around her and squish her tight - though whether it was to comfort her or to squeeze out the anxiety, even she couldn't say.

"With empty calories like that? You're going to burn through it and crash in an hour."  She strolled to the refrigerator, forcing herself to tame her trademark stomp to a casual strut. "What's the thing Junlei says all the time?  'Treat your body like a machine - quality fuel and plenty of rest, or you'll end up rusting like an overworked engine.'  I don't know anything about machines, but it sounds right. Here."  She tossed a small container of food to the confused girl.  "Cystipig stew. Homemade. It's something my - one of my old teammates used to make. The methane added a kick, but Boss says I'm not allowed to flood the kitchen with explosive gas."  She scoffed as she dropped into the chair across the table.  "Coward."

Parvati let out a soft laugh escape as she tentatively scooped out a spoonful of stew, and Nyoka's heart fluttered in her chest in a way that was surely heartburn and nothing else. "I can't imagine methane making anything taste better... Except maybe mantisaur. Is it true that people eat mantisaur on Monarch?"

"Only if they're really desperate. As in, 'I've already eaten the floorboards and my roommate' desperate."

Parvati's spoon hovered before her mouth as she shot Nyoka a part-horrified, part-rebuking glance. "You shouldn't joke about such horrible things. People suffer through terrible hardships - it's cruel to make fun of them."

The urge to retort was powerful. She wanted to snap back that, as someone who spent years as one of those people, she could say whatever she damn well pleased about the subject - that according to Holy Man DeSoto, making jokes about the subject was 'an ingrained coping mechanism that helped her deal with her trauma' or whatever. But - and she could not for the life of her understand why - she kept her mouth shut.

Parvati stiffened to brace herself for the inevitable backlash, but when none came, she relaxed just enough to taste the offered stew. Her eyebrows shot into her messy brow. "This is really good! You said that your former teammate made this?"

"She - created the recipe, yeah." Nyoka couldn't meet her gaze, not what the lump growing in her throat. "That's not important though. You really like it? Even without the methane?"

"It's delicious. It tastes like - oh, what was it dad used to say?" She scrunched her face as she wracked her brain, and the lump in Nyoka's throat dissolved like sugar. "Tastes like Grandma used to make. It's homey and warm, like curling up in a freshly made bed after a hard day of work." She took another bite and closed her eyes, chewing slowly as if to relish every bite. "Mm... I can see why you treasured that teammate. If her personality was anything like her food, she was a really amazing person. "

Nyoka shook her head as she gazed at Parvati, her lips twitching into a rare genuine smile. "God... You're so nice. I... I want to kiss you."

Parvati's eyes drifted open to focus on Nyoka's face. "What did you say?"

Nyoka stared back, frozen in place as her stomach clenched tightly. Oh God - what to do? She couldn't admit what she just said! But what to say?

Parvati sat up straight now, her head tilting ever-so-slightly. Her bottom lip jutted out to give her an adorably confused pout. "Nyoka?"

And now she was taking too long to respond - fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck - In a panic, Nyoka blurted out, "If you died, I wouldn't miss you!"

They both froze, staring at each other - Nyoka in horror, Parvati in confusion. As the gravity of her panic response settled upon them, Nyoka clenched her fists under the table. Her face burned with shame while Parvati's face paled beneath her dusky complexion. Tears began to collect in her amber eyes, and she turned her head down and away. "I - I see. I'm sorry for whatever I said that made you feel that way, Miss Nyoka." She pushed the chair back and stood up, her hands trembling at her side. "I'll just go."

"Parvati, no -" Nyoka reached out instinctively then snatched her hand back. "I didn't - that's not what I - God damn it!" Slamming her fists against the table, she threw her chair to the floor in her haste to get up and storm from the cafeteria.  You're not running away, she assured herself as she locked the door to her sleeping pod, longing now more than ever for the ability to slam the door with a satisfying bang.  You're taking a step back to collect yourself and figure out what you're going to say to fix this.  She punched the door and spun to slide the ground, leaning against it and feeling, for the first time in her life, like a serial character. "Fucking hell, Nyoka..." she muttered as she pinched her brow between her fingers.  "You're really in the shit this time. You and your fucking mouth... "

It took an hour and several gulps from her flask to calm her nerves and figure out exactly what she was going to say, but finally Nyoka was ready to tackle the hardest battle she'd ever had to face. Taking a deep breath (and another swig for courage), she opened her door and walked to the kitchen. It took every ounce of self-control she had to keep her body still. Treat this like capturing a raptidon, she encouraged with every step.  Don't show fear. Never show fear. You're the baddest bitch on Monarch. They make fucking serials about your adventures. You can handle apologizing to a dorky girl from a hick town.

Despite her totally awesome pep talk, she still had to pause outside the cafeteria and rest her forehead on the cool door frame.  You can do this.  Deep breath. You know exactly what you're going to say. Just go in, stay on script, and get out. No ad-libbing. You want this to be another Angeline Graves situation?  'course not. All right. Countdown. 3. 2.... 1.

Inhaling deeply, Nyoka pushed open the door and stepped inside. "Parvati, I -"

She stopped short as a sob interrupted her and allowed her blurry eyes to take in the room. Parvati slumped over the table, sobbing into the crook of her arm. "I don't understand what I did! Why -hic- did she have to be so cruel? I thought we were bonding!"

"Hey, it's not your fault," Ellie soothed, rubbing comforting circles between Parvati's shoulders. "Nyoka is a terrible person. She's probably drunk again - she's a total ass when she's drunk. Just ignore her, okay Par?" She looked up and scowled when she saw Nyoka. "What do you want?"

Nyoka couldn't respond; her tongue felt like a dead fish between her teeth. She could only stare, stunned, at Parvati's shuttering form. The realization that she had done this - her cruel words, spat in a moment of sheer panic, had reduced her shy, cheerful crush to a complete emotional wreck - drove like a dagger into her heart.

Ellie was right. What kind of absolute scumbag would do something so awful to such an absolute angel?

"Hey, dipsomaniac. Do you fucking mind?" When she still didn't answer, Ellie raised her other hand to snap her fingers impatiently. "Christ, are you that drunk? The fuck do you want?"

Nyoka finally snapped out of it. "Nothin'," she muttered, lowering her gaze to the floor. "Don't want nothin'." She grabbed two bottles of purpleberry wine and shuffled back to her room, ignoring the muttered scoffs behind her. As soon as the door was securely locked, she sank into her soft cot and popped the first cork.  "Here's to being the baddest bitch on Monarch," she whispered, the first salty tear trickling between her lips, "and the fucking worst person on the Unreliable.
