Today's #igquiltfest prompt is #besttipever - and my best tip ever received was to *always* remember to set your stitch to 1.5mm when #foundationpaperpiecing. So so important! There are times I forget to do this, and end up ripping threads out when I go to remove the paper backing...as happened with this quilt. I completely forgot to set my stitch length while sewing a portion of this quilt, and removing the paper was such a doozie! Linking up this #fpp quilt today with #cslentipj as the theme of "servant" was so fitting. Holy Thursday is just a few weeks away, giving us all plenty of time to reflect on our own servant leadership. For me, this means taking a look at why I do what I do - is it for a pat on the back? A "good job, Jen"? Or am I doing it humbly, with grace, in the caring of others? Do I make a point of sharing how many loads of laundry I folded, how many messes I cleaned up, and how long the struggle at the grocery store was when my husband walks in the door? Or do I meet him with a smile and ask how his day was? So much to think about in these last few weeks of Lent. #besttipever is today's prompt from @amyscreativeside for the #IGQuiltFest . I could not decide what to share with you all ... setting seams, using a stiletto, not worrying about perfection, doing you - all fantastic tips but ones you've probably been seeing all day. I'll share with a little secret on how I get unique quilts. Whenever I buy a line of fabric ... no matter how much I love it as a group ... I wrap it up individually on @polarnotions boards and put it in my stash by color. Always by color - never by line. If there are fabrics that read the same color I try to mix them into my stash apart from each other. Now - when I'm picking fabrics for a project I have to put them together - not a designer - me. I never realized until I started putting my quilts into shows just how odd my color/pattern/texture combinations are ... they are unique and choosing my own fabrics is one of my favorite parts of quilting. #freerangequilter #uniquequilts
