౨ৎ — fluff ending to part 1. wc; 1k.
“…oru…satoru.”
an eye opened. then two. white lashes fluttered around hazy blue irises as the sorcerer began to come to his senses, adjusting the sunglasses that had slid down his nose with a small, ‘hm?’
at the sound of your voice, gojo’s eyes slid around to take in the scenery. but he could’ve sworn you just… wasn't he back at jujutsu high a minute ago? in the infirmary? but instead, the teenager found himself sitting on a bench, his body sheathed in dancing blue artificial light and the passing shadows of ocean creatures behind glass.
the aquarium, he realized, his heart rate spiking. it wasn’t real.
“y/n,” he mumbled slowly, a lazy grin on his face, and never before had gojo been so happy to say your name to you.
“that’s me,” and the full, clear sight of you brings immediate relief — a painkiller for the heartache he’d just endured in his sleep. it was still rattling to him, after all this time, how realistic his nightmares were. he swore he saw the blood soak the pure, ivory sheet that covered you, the paling of your dying skin, the emptiness where your gorgeous, beating heart should’ve been. felt his own heart rip nerve by nerve and his stomach clench into an ugly knot as yaga told him you were “killed in action”: finite, just like that. you were gone.
he’d never been so glad to be awake, to be here, in front of some stupid fish tank, with you. he took in your face as you talk, a worried crease in your brow when you see your reflection in his blue eyes, now glassy. transparent and red-rimmed. vulnerable, if you looked close enough.
“you, um… fell asleep on my shoulder,” you spoke when he didn’t. “you okay? been getting enough sleep?”
oh. that was another thing i loved, he remembered, and it was like his body knew you the way his heart did, as his smile stretched into a pair of dimples. your stupidly big heart.
“…yeah. don’t worry your pretty little head about me,” he assured her, much quieter than regular old satoru gojo would have. cerulean peeked out at you from over his sunglasses and from under his hair, trying to say the words his mouth couldn’t as he rested his head on your shoulder.
call him clingy, but he wouldn’t move for anything right now. feeling you, alive and well and happy against him, that was enough.
knowing you were here was enough.
in an attempt to make small talk, you lifted you arm — the one he wasn’t using as a pillow — to point at a passing beluga whale at the massive tank in front of you both.
“satoru, look, a belu—”
“y/n, i’m in love with you.”
he lied. it wasn’t enough. he didn’t just want to be near you, to be close, yet still at arms length, he wanted to be in your arms. to kiss your face and make you smile at him in a different way than with everyone else. to nap with you on days he didn’t feel like “the strongest”, to be weak around you, to feel those damned butterflies every time he heard you call him “baby.” that was what he wanted — to openly love you, to be loved in return by you and nobody else.
“you… huh?” your hearts pounded in tandem, slamming against your ribs uncontrollably, to the point where it hurt to breathe in the best way possible. “wh… s…say that again?” you must’ve heard wrong, must’ve misinterpreted.
“…said ‘m in love with you,” he repeated, muffled due to his cheek squished against your shoulder. “like, i wanna be a jellyfish with you.”
“…oh.”
“yeah.”
it would be a lie to say that you hadn’t noticed the way your best friend looked at you, the blatantly obvious hearts in all six eyes when he laid them on you, so this wasn’t as unexpected as you made it look.
“…i think,” dry as your mouth was, you still spoke. your eyes weren’t trained on him, but instead at the fish in the life-sized tank, the shadows of passing jellyfish diluting the clear blue luminescence of the waterlogged glass periodically, “i might be in love with you, too.” it came out shakier than you wanted, but you patted yourself on the back for even getting it out at all. and it was true. you came to know him, to appreciate him, to be annoyed by him, to fighting by his side, to wishing you could be there forever, next to him.
in typical gojo fashion, he makes a face. you can’t see it, because he’s still resting on your shoulder, but you feel the indent of his cheek as he pouts. his hand not-so-subtly sneaks down to yours, and he prods your fingers open so he can slide his palm on top of yours. you swear you would’ve fallen over if you weren’t sitting.
“you ‘might’? i just told you i wanna live as a sea creature with you forever, and you ‘might’ like me back?” he mumbles: maybe he spoke clearly, actually — you don’t know, because the only thing in your ears is the pumping of your blood.
the lovestruck idiot pokes at you again — “c’mon, y/n, say it properly.”
his fingers play with yours, scratching your palm gently, tracing hearts into your skin. his head continued to rest on you, and he was ever grateful you couldn’t feel the warmth of his red face through your shirt, the burning of his ears. he’d find some way to make today last forever if he had to, if it meant sitting here next to the best friend he’d come to see as more, just watching fish swim. your hand finally clenched around his, slightly clammy, and clearly nervous, but it was your hand, so he couldn’t care less. and you squeezed his hand and said it right, because if gojo had the right to anything in this world, it was your heart.
“yeah… you’re right… i’m in love with you, satoru. let’s be jellyfish in our next lives.”

Your alien husband saves you
General Plot: Idreod decides to take you out for some recreation, so you head to the beach!
Word Count: 3k
Kherae Alien (Idreod) x female reader with glasses
🌶️ NSFW MASTERPOST 🌶️
W: I wouldn't exactly call this very smutty, but there is an nsfw scene ^_^ oral sex, a little bit of violence, yandere vs. yandere vibe, a little angst, almost drowning description
Tumblr media
He didn’t mention it to you, but the next morning Idreod had Dessin’s access revoked from his personal residential suite and his room moved a floor lower. Whether or not he was morally in the right, he shouldn’t have been bothering you in your bedroom at night and Idreod assumed it was probably making you uncomfortable. Unless it wasn’t.
He gritted his teeth on a sip of coffee. He remembered your giggle for Dessin and jealousy flooded him. What kind of guy would you be with if he hadn’t of bought you? Someone like his brother? Kind and carefree? Was that your type? He could provide you with so much more, but perhaps you were sentimental. Your wet eyes flashed in his memory from the rose garden. His proposal had been so bitter sweet. You wanted someone who loved you, yet you accepted your duty gracefully.
He thought he would be okay with you taking a lover when your duties birthing his heir were complete, but suddenly the idea of you giggling with another male was like an arrow to the heart. If he kissed you…he bit his tongue and tasted blood.
“Are you thinking of the future archduchess?” Airies asked, interrupting his thoughts. His cheeks flushed and he shook his head.
“What makes you think that?” he asked.
“I’ve never seen you make that face before,” he said with a knowing smile, “do you think you’ve thoroughly celebrated your engagement? It’s a beautiful day. Maybe you should take her for some recreation and get to know her. You will be working together frequently and humans are sensitive creatures. According to my research it's best to try to relate to them on a personal level through fun activities!”
“Fun activities?” he asked.
He nodded.
“Yes, why don’t you go to the beach?” he suggested, “it would be good for you to be seen publicly together. You don’t want her to appear to be a mail order bride do you?”
Idreod nodded curtly. That was probably wise. The public needed to see you as a couple before your wedding day.
“Good idea Airies,” he said, “call the beach club and have my fiance prepared to meet me at my car in an hour.”
You arrived like a dove on a breeze. The maids had dressed you in a floating white dress and a large floppy hat that you were holding in place with one hand, while you fussed with your sunglasses with the other.
“It’s amazing how quickly you Kherae can print glasses!” you beamed, examining the custom prescription lenses, “at this rate, I’ll have a new pair for every outfit!”
Idreod tried to hide how much your presence pleased him, though he wasn’t sure why. Perhaps he wasn’t used to being pleased and it felt unnatural, so he straightened his face and held out his hand to you.
“Come, (Y/N),” he said, hustling you into the car.
When you were seated he flopped a file into your lap.
“What’s this?” you asked, reading the cover, “(Y/LN) Orphanage?”
Idreod nodded.
“You said an orphanage would be a better use of your daily allowance. While I think jewelry is a bit easier, philanthropy will also have the desired effect. You can open as many as you like, as long as you put the Zovith name on them from now on. This one is in your maiden name to add to your father’s assets.”
You blinked up at him and your mouth fell open.
“Oh wow! Um…thank you,” you said, tucking the file in your shoulder bag.
“But,” he said, fishing a box out of his coat pocket, “you can’t stop a groom from giving his future bride a sparkly gift.”
You opened the box to reveal a necklace he’d purchased for you the day before. For some reason he’d found himself shopping for jewelry for you instead of doing his work, his mind wandering in a very unusual way for him. It had an emerald cut ruby, nestled amongst two rows of small diamonds.
Your cheeks darkened as he carefully lifted your hair, to fasten it to your neck.
“You really do surprise me,” you murmured, looking at your hands.
You didn’t know why you expected a normal day at a crowded public beach. Idreod’s driver dropped you at the front of a lavish beach club, staffed with servers in white shorts.
“Archduke Zovith!”
A slick, blond human in a linen suit met you at the door with a bow.
“I’m Renald Archer, the owner of the club. It’s an honor to have such an esteemed guest. I see you’ve been a member for a year, yet this is your first visit! If there is anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask!”
His eyes fell to you and he took your hand, examining your ring closely.
“And who is this lovely lady? I’m shocked we’ve never met. I would have remembered such a beauty and I know every family that’s worth knowing.”
You frowned. Of course, his ears were hungry for gossip.
Idreod flicked his hand away as if it were a fly.
“Don’t disturb my fiance,” he ordered.
Archer straightened his tie and cleared his throat.
“Of course your highness,” he muttered, “please come this way. We have a cabana arranged for your comfort.”
They led you to a pretty white tent filled with lounge chairs, food, and drinks.
“Make yourself comfortable, (Y/N),” he said, so you took a seat and pulled out your copy of The Prince and the Dawn.
You sat in companionable silence for some time. You didn’t care for swimming after a childhood accident, so you read your book and looked out at the water, while he was reading something on his tablet. It almost felt like you were a normal couple.
It started to get warm and you were at the beach, so you rose and gingerly untied the wrap that kept your dress in place, revealing the gold bikini underneath.
There was a grunt behind you and the clatter of a chair falling over. Suddenly your wrist was wrapped in Idreod’s large hand and he looked down at you.
“What is this garment?” he demanded, fingering the thin metallic straps that held it together.
“Oh, it’s a bikini. Just the usual for the beach,” you explained lightly, trying to slow the flutter of your heart. He was standing so close. The maids had chosen the bathing suit. It was a metallic gold string bikini that tied at either side of your hips with delicate gold straps.
His thick fingers traced a strap down to your breast.
“I’m not sure I want anyone else to see you like this,” he murmured.
“It’s just us here,” you said.
His mouth drifted closer to yours until you were sharing breaths. One of his hands cupped your cheek as his eyes searched mine.
“What should I do with my lovely fiance while we are all alone?” he asked. His eyes flashed with mischief you didn’t expect and your cheeks burned.
“Kiss me,” you heard yourself say.
You didn’t realize you’d said anything until his mouth met yours and you moaned into it. You felt him slide your glasses off of your nose, putting them somewhere out of the way, before his fingers returned to your face. You came together like waves crashing. Your tongues tangled as you clutched at each other a little desperately. His taste, his smell, they lit a fire inside of you, driving you into his arms. You’d never been so confident with a man, but you just wanted to climb all over him.
Your arms hooked around his neck and your legs wrapped around his waist. A meaty hand slid down your back and gripped your ass. He grunted and sat down heavily in the lounge chair with you on top of him, giving you the perfect vantage to crawl up his chest.
“You smell like heaven,” he muttered into your mouth. A moment later he’d swapped positions with you, so that you were pressed against the back of the lounge chair. He showered your neck and chest with saccharin kisses. Your hands found his horns and he groaned into the nipple he’d swept into his mouth.
He pried your legs open and rewarded you with his teeth on your thighs, nibbling a trail to your core. He stopped suddenly and looked at your body splayed in front of him.
“You’re so beautiful (Y/N),” he said, reverently. The apples of your cheeks were on fire and you drew your hand up to cover them. Idreod smirked down at you.
“I want to taste my fiance,” he licked his lips.
His teeth tugged at the strings of your bikini bottom until it fell out of the way and the next thing you felt were soft kisses on your mound, approaching your slit. His thick fingers explored your folds, parting them so he could manipulate the flesh underneath.
His tongue found your engorged clit and you quaked under his treatment. The appendage danced over the sensitive spot, while you felt his large fingers stretching your channel. You clung to his horns, which only seemed to make him go wilder, shoving his mouth wetly into your pussy and lapping at you lewdly.
You watched his eyes roll back in his head as you softly stroked them with your fist and you assumed touching them must bring him some pleasure, but you couldn’t focus on it too much. Your own body was coming apart under his touch.
“Please…yes…yes…please….” you begged, but he didn’t need any prompting. His fingers went to work pumping inside of your dripping pussy, sending shocks of ecstasy radiating up your body.
“So delicious…I can’t stop myself,” he murmured.
You shrieked as he battered your clit with his tongue, licking and swirling until he threw you helplessly into the wall of an orgasm. Your legs wrapped his neck in a death grip and you squeezed him until the bones popped before going limp. He grinned up at you, his eyes sparkling like gold coins. He carefully extracted his fingers, licking them clean before frowning and looking up. His pointed ears twitched.
“Someone is coming,” he seemed to pout, before turning his smile back on you.
“Rest here,” he ordered lightly, wrapping you in a towel and kissing you on the head, “I’ll get rid of them.”
He straightened his pants, replaced your glasses neatly on your face, and marched dutifully out of the tent.
When he was gone, you quickly re-tied your bikini to you and pressed a cold drink against my burning cheeks.
“Sister!” Dessin’s voice cheered. You looked up to the opening to find a handful of Kherae led by your soon to be brother-in-law standing there shirtless holding beers.
He clucked at you.
“Did my brother bring you here only to abandon you? I just saw him speaking with some suits,” he grumbled, his friends descending on our tent, “he’ll always be like that. Working when he should be enjoying this bounty!”
One of his friends grabbed a handful of chips, while another righted Idreod’s lounge and plopped down.
“So this is the fiance?” he asked Dessin, taking a big gulp of his beer and eyeing you, “she’d be pretty without these things.”
He pulled your glasses off of your nose.
“Give those back!” you started to say, but Dessin rushed forward snatching you up in his arms.
“Ignore him,” he beamed down at you, jogging out of the tent, “let’s go swimming!”
“Oh no Dessin!” you tried to argue and fight him, but without your glasses you were disoriented. He was so fast and his legs so powerful all you could do was bounce wildly while he ran, full tilt towards the blue blob in front of you.
Panic set in and you screamed and scrabbled at his chest as he tossed you with his powerful arms into the ocean. You hit the water head first and the sky became darkness and bubbles.
Your vision tunneled and suddenly you were a little girl again, stretching your chubby arms up to reach the sunlight. Your lungs screamed for air, but no matter how you kicked or reached, the surface never got any closer. Your mouth opened against your will and you let out a silent cry, flooding your throat with cold salty water. Your world went black.
You awoke to warm lips on your mouth and heavy hands on your cheeks.
“Wake up (Y/N), please wake up,” Idreod’s voice next to your ear roused you.
You coughed and cold water churned up from your stomach. You pushed him away to spit it up on the sand.
His hand was large and warm on your back, rubbing slow circles.
“That’s it, get it all out,” he murmured.
“Doctor!” you heard him shout and another, cooler pair of hands found your cheeks.
“Please look this way, Miss (Y/N),” she said, shining a flashlight in your eyes.
You blinked at the light, as she requested before looking around. A crowd had gathered on the beach. Archer was standing nearby with some well dressed humans and Kherae looking concerned, while Dessin’s friends were peering curiously at you.
Seeing you were being attended to, Idreod turned his attention to a guilty looking Dessin, who was wringing his hands.
“What were you thinking?!” he boomed, looming over his brother and grabbing him by the horn, “she almost died! Have you completely lost your mind?”
“I didn’t realize she couldn’t swim!” he argued, limply.
He swung at his brother, clocking him in the jaw.
“Didn’t realize?! You threw her!” he hissed, “she could have broken a bone or been stabbed on a rock! (Y/N) is not a toy to break and be replaced!”
“It was just a joke,” he growled, grabbing his bruised chin, “you abandoned her!”
Idreod raised his fist again, but you jumped up, pushing the doctor away from you.
“Stop Idreod!” you snapped, stepping between him and his brother, “it was an accident. Children play the same games. You don’t need to hit him, it’s over!”
You hunched a little, still exhausted from almost drowning and coughed up a little bit of salt water.
Idreod glared, but he wasn’t going to keep his fist raised at you and you knew that, so he lowered it and instead gathered you to his chest, lifting you like a princess.
“I’m taking you home,” he grumbled.
You took a deep breath, breathing in his scent blended with the salty air. At some point he’d taken off his shirt and his skin was damp and stuck to yours. Had he jumped in after me?
“I’d like that,” you murmured, twining some of the salt-stiff hair that had fallen over his shoulder with your fingers, “I was really scared.”
You laid your tired head on his chest and dozed while he carried you back to his car.
Dessin glared at you in Idreod’s arms, but he didn’t care. Archer had found your glasses and passed them to Idreod as he brushed by.
His heart had stopped when he’d heard you scream and he’d never moved so fast in his life. He’d sprinted across the beach and jumped in after you, elbowing his brother out of his way. If there had been a question in his mind as to whether or not you were my mate before, there was no doubt now. You belonged to him. You had no way to know, but he would have moved heaven and earth to get to you.
He replaced your glasses on your nose and you stirred in his arms as his driver took you home. You absently played with the curls at the end of his hair that stuck to his chest.
“Why does it seem like you and your brother have a bad relationship?” you asked, quietly.
Idreod wouldn’t normally have answered, but your impending death had him soft and he wanted to talk to you more.
“He’s always been that way…irresponsible. When my mother died, my father took me under his wing to be his heir. I had private lessons and I shadowed my father as he worked every day. My father molded me to be a responsible leader of the Zovith family.
“He completely ignored Dessin. Dessin went to the academy with the other boys. He went to birthday parties and holiday retreats. Whatever he asked for my father gave him as long as he stayed out of our way. He was such a spoiled child, always underfoot. He begged for my father’s attention, but he was a focused man. After the females were murdered he desperately plotted the survival of our family. It consumed him until his death.
“I used to envy Dessin. I never made any friends that weren’t related to our family business, but now I see how frivolous that made him. He’s popular, sure, but he’s completely helpless without me. All he does is go to pleasure houses and spend money with those idiots.”
“Do you think he’s a bit lonely?” you asked, “friends aren’t always a replacement for your family. Dessin didn’t seem all that close with those guys he was with.”
Idreod paused as if he hadn’t ever considered that. His friends hadn’t even come to his defense when he was going to beat him in public, you had. He shrugged.
“I don’t know. He seems occupied with them every second of the day,” he said.
You sighed.
“Sometimes lonely people fill their time with frivolous activities to chase the darkness away,” you said, smiling gently at him.
“Yes, well he almost killed you,” Idreod muttered darkly.
You bit your lip.
“That wasn’t his fault. I’m a bad swimmer. I had an accident when I was little and almost drowned. Ever since then, I can’t get into the water. It gives me a panic attack.”
He pinched your chin lightly between his fingers.
“Then I’ll have all the oceans drained,” he said.
You looked at him before bursting into giggles and he realized it was one of the most precious moments of his life. Your eyes sparkled like gems and your cheeks were flushed, while your hair bounced around your face in sticky clumps.
“I don’t know about that,” you said, patting his bare chest.
“What about swimming lessons with a trained therapist?” he asked, “if you won’t let me dry the beaches of this planet.”
You blinked at him and your eyebrows went up.
“That would actually be really helpful,” you said, “I’d like to be able to enjoy the water like everyone else.”
He kissed your forehead.
“My archduchess shall have everything she wants,” he said with a softness that surprised even him. He had never been a gentle or squishy male, but you made roses bloom in his  heart.

A Cat With Sunglasses?
Working in a bakery was a feast for the senses. The smell of fresh pastries, delicious bread and sweets. The elegant yet simple designs that surrounded the place. The taste of home. Marinette was content, to say the least.
After graduating from high school, she was set to inherit her parents' famous bakery. Some would say it's the best one in Paris. Tom and Sabine's Boulangerie-Patisserie.
What more could Marinette want? She certainly didn't want anything to change.
Until it ... did.
See, there was a certain customer that always showed up at a specific hour and a specific day. Friday at 7pm when the bakery is about to close.
***
As Marinette was cleaning up and saying goodbye to the last few customers, she heard the bell on top of the door ring.
"Welcome to the best boulangerie-patisserie in Paris!" Marinette greeted in her best customer service voice. "How may I help you...?"
She turned around to see a tall man. Now, Marinette wasn't normally intimidated by tall men but whatever she was looking at right now was enough for her to go into full panic mode.
Bright orange board shorts. Green patterned socks. Sandals. An oversized black hoodie with cat ears. A facemask. Perhaps the worst one of all... huge sunglasses at 7 in evening.
If he showed up this late at night with an outfit as ugly as that then it meant that he most definitely had some ulterior motives. Ulterior motives that Marinette absolutely didn't want to know.
So she screamed and the man mirrored her.
"W-wait a minute, I just wanna—!"
"I HAVE A STALE BAGUETTE AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE IT!" Marinette swung it around like a sword before throwing it at him. The man dodged it smoothly. A little too smoothly that Marinette didn't know if she was frightened or annoyed that he wasn't scramming. It hit the door of the bakery with a loud thud before it fell down and left a mess on the floor.
"Whoa! Marinette! Chill out!" The man tried to calm her, but the adrenaline made her ears ring.
"How do you know my name? Are you stalking the bakery?" She interrogated him further as she grabbed him by the collar of his hoodie.
He stepped away from her and laughed. He laughed.
"You have a name tag, ma'am!" The man continued to laugh and all Marinette could do was stare up at him, confused, embarrassed and oddly charmed by his laugh.
Shut up, self. You almost hit the guy with a baguette.
"Anyways, I'm sorry if I frightened you," he cleared his throat. "I'd prefer if we start over."
The man bowed down like a theater act and Marinette, whose head already managed to cool down was taken aback.
"Good evening, I go by many names but everyone else calls me, Cat Noir."
Marinette tried to stifle a laugh. That sounded so ridiculous.
"I'm Marinette," she said with a warm smile. "I'm sorry for trying to hit you with the baguette earlier. When they're stale, they can be... well, I— uh. I'm sorry in general."
"Hey, it's no big deal," the man said, holding out a palm.
"Well, since you walked in here..." Marinette started. "You probably want to buy something."
"Right. Yeah," he looked at the selection that was still available. "Do you guys still have passionfruit macarons?"
Marinette's face lit up. "Of course! Macarons are one of our bestsellers but the passionfruit macarons aren't as famous as our other flavors."
"Guess, I'll be coming here from now on then," he chuckled lowly and Marinette's face flushed. "I'll be taking your entire stock by the way."
Marinette looked at him incredulously. "Our entire stock is enough for a big family. Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I can pay for it," he fished out a wallet that looked expensive. Especially compared to the outfit he was wearing. He fished out 60 euros and offered it to her. "Consider it an apology for nearly scaring you to death."
The blue haired girl nodded and opened a box to place the macarons in. She felt awkward and embarrassed ... yet intrigued? While she didn't want to assume anything, there was something so strangely familiar about the guy, ugly clothes and all.
"So... Cat Noir? People call you that like a stage name?" Marinette questioned, in an attempt to make small talk. "What do you do?
"Well, I ... uh..." he said as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I do charity. And I chose to be a black cat."
"Is that so?" Marinette replied, not completely convinced. He looked like a mixed bag of traits. Smooth, confident, awkward and warm. She couldn't deny that it made the peaceful yet monotonous day a lot more interesting.
She realized she was already done with the box of macarons and handed it to him. Marinette almost wanted to ask him more questions but she hesitated. "Thank you for coming to the bakery."
"Thanks," his facemask prevented her from seeing his face but she could tell he was smiling. "I'll make sure to come back, Princess."
"Princess?" She repeated, her face flushed."
"Yeah," Cat Noir started. "Cuz you're sweet like one."
Okay, that was the cue to call Alya because she might actually faint on the spot.
He snickered mischievously and opened the door. "What? Cat got your tongue?"
END.

run it back, sunshine
*
Pairing: Jay White / Kazuchika Okada
Rating: General audiences
Prompt: "I need advice" (time passes) "never mind I already did the stupid thing"
Notes: This is loosely canon with my fic here, and Lepak’s followup, but you can read it as just canon with Jay’s backstage comments at WK17 if you like.
*
I need advice
It’s 4AM in Japan. I don’t know why I’m sending a line message to one of the worst guys out there for advice, any kind, but it’s not as if Ishimori is contracted for my Bullet Club anymore.
The afternoon sun hits my glasses, the taste of smog on the DC air flaring from the approaching van. I duck behind the concrete. Breathe, one more baby, one more, breathe with the Switchblade, and one more after that. Three times. Three times you’ve found yourself here, but it’s not too late. Just turn around, go back.
He’ll be here at any time. I have to go, have to–
There he is.
Okada looks– put it bluntly, he looks tired, trailing behind Tanahashi with dogged resignation. There’s a bitterness to the slash of his lips that betrays him. Gold, I called myself this week. Neither of us have gold.
I shuck up my jacket to my shoulders, sweating underneath the hood. A hot springtime in DC, Capital Collision, and I’m not on the card. I’m not even here to watch.
Again, Jaime?– yes again, third time’s the charm, I’m going to get it right this time.
I check my phone before I move. Maybe Phantasmo will stop me.
Maybe I could have texted Juice, if I really wanted to be held back. The setting sun hits Kazuchika’s cheekbones, turning back for a wry smile to Rocky, and my feet are already hitting the ground. I duck in the door just as the last straggler leaves it to swing shut. Just like I planned.
It’s a small arena. No Tokyo Dome, no Madison Square Garden. My heart beats in my throat. There’s a good chance I won’t get a moment with him alone, and maybe I’ll flinch before I say what I mean, stumble it out two months from now, or swallow and choke on the words when I blink first and Finlay leaves his mark on me –
– but no. There is a room with his name taped to the outside, one of the coaches rooms. Tanahashi too. Prima donnas. I tug my hood up, knock once.
“A minute,” he calls back. I knock again, praying my Japanese hasn’t atrophied in a few months. “Tana-san, is it that urgent?”
“Not Tana.”
There’s only a second of hesitation. Then the door swings open, he’s staring at me with that skeptical feigned anger New Japan loves to slap on his posters. He steps aside, lets me in. It really is a small room. No windows, barely space for the desk that’s been shoved against the wall.
“You keep meeting me like this.”
I kind of shrug my shoulders, slipping off from the hood, the sunglasses. The fluorescent light is clinical against his bare chest and shins. Probably for the best.
“So what is it this time? I lost the belt.”
I wince. Is that what he thought I was there for? It’s not as if I explained it any better. “Look it wasn’t – about the belt, Kazuchika.”
If his name means anything to him, he doesn’t show it.
“Was it about how it was worth it? That’s not–”
“Stop. Stop, I’m sorry about that, at least,” I throw up my hands. Peace offering. I don’t want to – well, I want to fight. It’s heady all around me, the smell of his sweat in the tiny concrete room.
“So you regret it,” he steps forward, almost angry, and I can feel my breath hitch. Breathe. I could – kneel right now. I could walk away with nothing, again, but I think he’d still leave thumbprints on my throat. That might even be worth it.
But it's not what I want.
“I regret– coming to you with something about me. Yeah,” I manage to string the sentence together, and it comes out right. “Do you – do you remember when you asked me to go fishing with you?”
His anger falters, gives way to genuine surprise. A thrill goes through me, same way as it always does digging in the knife. If I mean it this time, mean it the right way–
“When – back when you were in CHAOS? You laughed at me, told me I wasn’t listening to you.”
“You weren't," I shoot back, always have to run my mouth when I start, and damn the intensity of his eyes.
“Did you listen to my question, then?”
“You– you’re right. You’re right. Would you go fishing with me now?”
“Now,” he repeats-- not angry, but...curious.
Dig the knife in. Now or never.
“Listen. I lost New Japan. Do you understand? I’m gold now. Bullet Club Gold, which means nothing, I have nothing to my name,” if I could say this in English, I’d have a hell of a lot more to say. Maybe it’s better that Japanese is the best I can do. I point to the door, “Out there – you can’t touch me. You can’t out there. But. There’s an outside. And there. You can– if you want to – you can.”
He looks thoughtful. Thoughtful when he reaches a hand up slowly, brushes a strand of hair off my forehead. “That's what this is about.”
“Fishing.” I repeat, breath caught in my throat. I’m not going to kneel. Today, anyways.
“Fishing. Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Let’s go fishing.”
“Good luck with your gold, Jaime,” and he smiles. That small one, wry like a little secret. Maybe I came because I like that smile. Too much, after all that's said and done.
“Good. Good,” I move mechanically, pat his shoulders with both hands. It’s stupid, really, “Good luck with your match.”
When I duck past Tanahashi on my way out, hood up, sunglasses on – if he recognizes me, he doesn’t say. He maybe hesitates. I remember how he thanked me.
Outside, I hear my phone beep. Jesus, Phantasmo has terrible sleeping habits.
hey im up what do you need to know how to beat a lucha guy if you decided you didnt like bangbang gang its too late
Never mind i already did the stupid thing
oh. you okay?
I stare at the question. I’m okay. Fishing okay. And then a new message pops up. Still under the title 🔪🎈💥. Needs a new name.
Is this still Jaime?
Yeah it's me
Thinking about fishing already?
Potomac River has some good spots.
That sounds good to me
The cursor blinks at me as I stare at the empty slot for his name. ⛈️ would work. He’s earned that.
I save ☀️ in the empty slot, and walk out into the city sunset, my steps just a little lighter.

Furry Fish and Stolen Floaties
by Teeth_Hoarder
After a week of hesitation, Quackity was back out enjoying the sea. He sighed contently, smoothie in hand and sunglasses on.
His favorite blue floatie had gotten carried out to sea or some shit so he was forced to use the yellow one.
Besides the stupid water stealing his shit, it was a good day.

For All That Was Lost
BLEACH Anime Celebration - Day 3: Loss
Rating: K+ with mild themes
Setting: Sometime before chapter 686, during autumn or winter.
Synopsis: While on a visit to the World of the Living, Shinji and Momo reflect on what was lost and what was saved.
AN: so this is a little bit late, due to 1) the original copy not saving properly, and 2) becoming unwieldy and going from 700 to 2000+ words. Anyhow, I present a brotp fic with one of the best captain-lieutenant duos. This may or may not have been a deleted scene from my other fic As Months Go By, As Season Change slightly remodeled for these prompts; you don’t need to have read it (or part 2 whenever it comes out) to understand what’s going on here. Also, it just dove-tailed from the last fic I wrote, To Give Your Shelter.
Also, in case you’re wondering, this is what Shinji is wearing (minus the beret and fancy shoes).
I hope you enjoy this one!
___________________________
“This is hardly warranting of a video, sir.”
“But it’s a historic moment! Hold on a sec.”
Momo loses the fight to not smile as her captain fishes his denreishinkai out of his coat pocket with his free hand.
All around them, humans walk past, some glancing at Shinji while he unlocks his phone and gets the camera ready. Momo knew even before they’d arrived at Karakura Town he would choose to dress to stand out, and he didn’t disappoint with the pale purple turtle neck, baggy coat, and orange-tinted sunglasses with the attached chain looping around the back of his neck. She’d gone for something tamer – a pale pink sweater, black and white pleated skirt, and dark stockings – which got a mocking sigh of disappointment from her captain. ‘Honestly, Hinamori, you haven’t been keeping up with the trends of the World of the Living!’ he’d teased.
Well, looking around, she’d say she was closer to whatever clothing trends humans had in this city. When he finally has the camera ready, she sighs through her nose. “How about a photo instead?”
He looks at her from over the sunglasses, and she looks right back, unyielding. It’s a staring contest for almost thirty seconds when Shinji gives her a defeated smirk. “Well, I guess it’s a good compromise.”
He shuffles next to her and leans back, holding the denreishinkai far enough to get both of their heads and the café behind them in view. “All right, hold up your coffee.”
She does so and widens her smile into a grin.
“To trying café coffee for the first time!” he cheers, ‘clinking’ his foam cup against hers.
“Honestly, sir,” she chuckles.
He snaps a few pictures, with only difference in any of them being one without his sunglasses; she likes that one best. She makes a mental note to get a copy from him later.
“Right, let’s get going,” he says while putting his denreishinkai away. “Hiyori’s gonna kick my ass if we don’t get to the warehouse on time.”
They start down the bustling street, passing an array of shops and restaurants. Momo begins to wish she’d taken more than one day off to visit the World of the Living; there’s several shops she would walk into and an izakaya she could see herself, Rangiku, Toshiro, Izuru, and Renji going eat at.
Shinji starts on his double espresso, and after the first sip, gives a long, approving hum. “Now that is coffee.”
He looks at her expectantly. Momo will never understand how the most trivial things are get the most authoritative looks out of him.
“It still feels too hot,” she says with a nervous chuckle.
He shrugs. “Just don’t let it get cold. It’ll tastes more bitter. It’s not like iced coffee when that happens.”
“Iced coffee? You can have it cold too?”
“Weren’t you paying attention to menu boards?” he chortles.
“Honestly, I couldn’t get over the pastries they had there.” She grins. “They were so pretty! I almost bought one.”
“Well, why didn’t ya?”
“We wouldn’t have time to eat it. Besides, it’d probably get messed up on our way to see Sarugaki-san and the others.”
“They have containers to stop that from happening, dummy.”
“Oh.”
He glances over his shoulder, the café almost a tiny rectangle in the distance. It’d too far for either of them to run back and get anything.
Momo waves her free hand. “If I have time on the way back, I’ll get something then.”
They continue on down the city street, weaving their way through groups of humans. Despite their brisk pace, Momo takes everything in. Some of the stores and restaurants remind her of those in Rukongai, and some of the technology is similar to what had recently been developed by the Twelfth Division. She’s never seen so many humans before, nor such tall building in the World of the Living. It’d been decades since she last in this world, and until now she’d only ever heard about it’s development from Shinigami who were sent on patrols to the cities and towns.
She looks at her captain when they stop at a traffic crossing. Despite what he wore and his bright blonde hair, he oddly fitted in with the rest of the humans. The way he held himself, slightly hunched in the shoulders and a hand stuffed into his pants pocket, it not only made him appear more casual - not that he was ever as stoic or formal as some of the other captains were in the first place. He’d lived this world for over a hundred years, probably knows this town like the back of his hand, it’s understandable he’d feel relaxed being here.
Momo decides if they have time, she’ll ask him to show her the places he’d worked at and question him and the other Visoreds about what had changed the most in Karakura Town.
At the green light, they cross to the other side. Along the way, a strong gust of wind blows through, causing Momo and most others to huddle in on themselves. Shinji though remain standing straight, his coat and the chain attached to his sunglasses blowing out behind him as he takes another sip of coffee. For a moment he looks like one of the models from one of the magazines he read.
Momo chuckles, tempted to get her denreishinkai and take a picture.
“What’re you laughing about?” he asks once they reach other side of the street and into a courtyard.
“It’s nothing.”
“Well, it’s gotta be something or else ya wouldn’t…” He does a double take, gaze going over her head. “No way!”
Momo blinks and comes to a stilted stop. Her captain is frozen with his mouth agape. Following his line of sight, he’s staring wide eyed at a shop on the opposite side of the courtyard. AB Cookies.
“Do you know that place?” she asks.
“Yeah, but last I saw it, it was on a different street. She must’ve moved it.”
“She?”
“Kurosaki Orihime.”
Momo’s eyes widen. “I had no idea she worked in a bakery. Is she the manager?”
“Co-manager.” Shinji checks his watch, then looks between further down the street and AB Cookie. After a beat, be mutters under his breath, “Screw it.” Then, to Momo, “You’ve met Orihime before, right?”
She nods.
“Well, I’m thinking you wanted to get something before, and I guess we shouldn’t come empty handed if we’re late.” Without warning, he walks speedily towards the bakery. “So, we might as well get a peace offering before we arrive!”
Taking the hint, she catches up to him.
Walking into the bakery, Momo is greeted by various sweet scents and brightly colored decor. There are only a few tables and chairs inside, all of them up against the wide windows that look out onto the courtyard. The glass counter is full of pastries, and the wall behind it lined with different breads. Some baked goods look like nothing she’d ever seen, and upon reading a few of their labels, she raises a brow.
“Raisins and leek?” she says under her breath. “Strawberry and seaweed?”
Shinji doesn’t notice her bewilderment as he sidles up to the cash register.
“Yo, anyone in?” he calls out. When no answer comes, he tries peering through the doorway off to the left of the breads. “Says it’s open. Maybe she’s-”
“Sorry to keep you waiting!” Orihime walks through the doorway, wearing a uniform that matches the sweet aesthetic of the decor. “Welcome to AB Cookies, how can I….?” She blinks at Shinji, who just grins back in return. “Hirako-san!”
“Nice to see you, Kurosaki.” He gestures to Momo. “You remember Hinamori, right?”
Momo quickly straightens and bows her head. “It’s good to see you, Kurosaki-san.”
“Likewise, Lieutenant Hinamori. What brings you both here? Are you visiting?”
“Yeah, but unfortunately we’re short on time,” Shinji answers. “Here to visit Hiryori and the others.”
“Ah, I see. We saw them just last week actually.”
“For real? Why?”
Orihime’s smile turns rueful. “Kazui went off exploring and bumped into Aikawa-san. He brought him home before he could wonder into the warehouse.”
“Geez, kid sounds like his dad, wondering into places he shouldn’t.” Then, with a teasing lit, “You were a bit like too, now that I think about it.”
That gets a nervous chuckle out of Orihime. “I guess so.”
Shinji leans an arm on the counter. “Next time I’m here, I’ll swing by and see Ichigo too. In the meantime, I came by to see if you could give me your best donuts.”
Orihime grabs a nearby pair of tongs and gestures to a cabinet on the right. “How many would you like? We do a special for a dozen.”
“A dozen it is!” Shinji turns to Momo. “Which ones do ya want? Or would like something else?”
Momo would argue that he didn’t need to pay for her snack, but she knows he’ll insist until they get into an argument which would probably make them late.
That, and the donuts are all very cute. Most looked like animals, including a cat with chocolate whiskers and a rabbit with almond ears. The few that didn’t have an animal design were glazed in fluro colors with floral designs in white frosting.
She points to the donut shaped like a tiger. “I’ll have a yuzu one, please.”
Shinji makes a choked sound. Glancing up at her captain, she discovers he’s trying to withhold laughter. She goes to ask what’s funny, but he’s quick to start picking the other donuts.
As Orihime bustles about folding up a box and putting their selection into it, Shinji asks her about Ichigo and Kazui, the store, and a few people Momo assumes are humans.
However, she doesn’t listen to their conversation, instead becoming focused on Orihime herself. To think one of the saviors of the Soul Society runs a bakery. Considering her role in the war, it’s humbling to find out she lives a life like this, with a family of her own and in a job that’s far more peaceful than a Shinigami’s.
She smiles so brightly, even after everything that happened. Everyone had moved on from the war and Aizen’s betrayal in their own, but some still struggle to do so. They can’t forget what they saw, or what they lost, or who they’d lost.
There are times where Momo suddenly remembers someone who was no longer alive; a subordinate or seated officer, a friend from another division, and sometimes someone who is alive but had lost a part to themselves – whether it was a limb or an aspect of themselves hardened by what they saw and experienced. She also remembers wonderment some had in their eyes as they spoke of the World of Living after coming back from a posting, hoping to go back again when they were on leave and see and try thing that were unlike anything in the Soul Society.
“Oi, Hinamori.”
Momo blinks out of her reverie. “Captain?”
Shinji and Orihime look at her, the former with a slight furrow in his brow and the latter holding out the box of donuts to him.
“You spacing out?” Shinji asks.
“Sorry! I was just thinking, that, uh…this bakery is amazing. Kurosaki-san, did you bake everything here yourself?”
Something changes in Orihime’s smile, but Momo can’t put her finger on it. Regardless, Orihime answers, “Oh, thank you! I bake most of it with the help of Harumi-san and Ito-kun. They’re on their break right now, otherwise I’d introduce you to them.”
Momo manages a smile. “It looks like a lot of hard work. I’m looking forward to trying the donuts.”
Shinji takes the box of donuts and turns back to Orihime. “As is, we’ll be back for more some other time. Say ‘hi’ to Ichigo and Kazui-chan for me, yeah?”
After bidding farewell, they’re quick to return to the courtyard and speedily walk to the warehouse.
For Momo, stepping back out is like being in a different world. At least the Arrancar and Hollows were aware that a war took place, but no one here would except those who had been at the battle itself. A small part of her bitterly thinks how none of the humans anywhere will ever know of the sacrifices made or the lives lost to save them all. Perhaps more than that though, she’s sad that none of those who are gone will ever get a chance to do what they wanted in the World of Living. Some may have already reincarnated as a human, but they aren’t the same person she knew them as.
“Looks like you’re spacing out again.”
They’re on a different street now, heading towards a park only a few feet away. She’d barely notice the change in scenery, nor how slow their walking pace had become.
As they cross on to the path that winds through the park, she sighs. “I was just thinking that this world almost vanished during the war.” She swallows against the lump building up in her throat. “We’re taught our duty as a Shinigami is to maintain to balance and project lives that aren’t involved in our world. The humans will never know that, and it’s better of course that they don’t, but even so...”
She tilts her head back, watching the clouds move by through the leaves and branches that arc over them. Shinji’s face loses any traces of humor as his gaze falls to the ground.
When he says nothing, Momo starts to ramble. “Hirose-san wanted to go to a flower festival in the country side. She heard about it while on a posting in a seaside town, a lot of the residents traveled from there to go. She wanted to see if all the flora there was like ours.
"Hoga-san and Domen-kun both wanted to go to a beach, neither of them had seen the sea before. They also wanted to go to the bars and see if the drinks here taste any different from those in the Rukongai.
"Funai-kun wanted to go to a festival here. He said he saw something called a Ferris wheel and wanted to go on it.”
An amused snort comes from Shinji. “That right? Thought he didn’t like heights.”
“Are they tall?”
“Yeah. You get into one of the carts on this massive wheel and they take you up for a spin.”
“That sounds strange.”
“Nah, not like a fast spin. It’s slow so you get to take in the scenery.”
Momo smiles. “That’s probably why he wanted to go in one. He wanted to look for a new landscape to paint.”
They come to a natural stop at the side of the path. Though the look Shinji levels at her appears nonchalant, she knows better.
“I get it," he says, "but this is the way it has to be.”
“...I know.”
“Like you said, it’s how we’re trained to think. We screwed up in the past with the Quincy and others, but I’d like to we’ve finally learned from it.” He takes a sip of coffee and ponders for a moment. “We’re also taught to lay down our lives for our friends and family. In doing so, we can go knowing we fought with everything we had, that we protected the worlds for all the inhabitants.”
And this fleeting feeling, of nostalgia and fondness, collides with what Momo sees all round her.
Surrounded by leafy green trees and shrubs, flowers swaying in the breeze, and humans, gathered as families or friends or alone on park benches, it’s all life. The children can continue to laugh and smile, the adults can keep their heads up and continue to try to provide for and help each other without being burdened by something so existential. To wish that they knew about the war that almost made this world vanish would not only burden them, abut also be a disservice to the friends and subordinates she’d lost, who gave their lives to ensure no one suffered. That the wonders this world has could continue to amaze the humans and Shinigami for decades to come.
“If there’s one thing I learned while living here it’s that human screw up, a lot. Some more than others…”
Her captain’s words stop her from becoming overwhelmed. She looks back to him, about to question him, but stops when his smile returns a fraction.
“But there’s that chance to change,” he continues. "Not everyone takes it, but for those that do, for those who choose to do the right thing, for those who choose to keep walking after going through hardships, I think that’s reason enough to keep this world.”
Momo is momentarily speechless, taken aback by the uncharacteristic sentimentally of her captain. “That’s…awfully wise for you, sir.”
He blinks at that, and then laughs in shock. “What kind of back-handed compliment is that?!”
“Ah, I didn’t mean it like that! It’s just…I’m not used to speaking like that.”
“Well, when you get to my age, you learn a lot. In fact, get your denreishinkai out and write down whatever I just said! We’re gonna write it as part of a field report for today.”
She laughs at that. “Sir, we’re not on duty!”
Shinji starts laughing too. “Doesn’t matter, our division’s gotta know what they’re fighting for and that’s the best way I’ve ever worded it.”
Her smile is wide as she shakes her. "I'll type it up later."
Shinji points to her cup as he takes one last sip of his own. “Still haven’t tried your coffee. Has it gone cold?”
She'd almost forgotten about it. “It’s still warm.”
Momo finds herself looking around the park again, at all the humans going in and out. Then, she raises the latte to her lips and takes a sip.
For all that was lost, there was much more still alive.
“It’s good.”
___________________________
BONUS SCENE
Momo goes to knock on the warehouse’s entrance, but Shinji steps in front of her.
“No need. Besides, you’ll want me to go in first.”
Momo raises a brow at that, but doesn’t say anything as her captain opens the door. He starts to announce their arrival when a red blur comes barreling towards them, jumping from somewhere up high and landing right in front of Shinji.
“You’re late!” Hiyori shouts.
Shinji scrambles to put the box of donuts in front of him and raise its lid. “Do you really wanna ruin these?!”
Hiyori pauses, one of her sandals raised high. She glares down at the donuts, eyeing each one as if assessing an enemy. Shinji doesn’t move a muscle, not even to reign in his deep-set scowl or look back at Momo. It was as if he were a student waiting for the approval of a teacher who is always hard to please.
What feels like a minute later, Hiyori sniffs, then lifts her foot and puts her sandal back on. “Fine.” She snatches the box from Shinji. “At least you got enough for all of us.”
“You’re welcome” Shinji snarks as she steps aside to let them in.
Hiyori ignores him, instead nodding at Momo. “I bet you’re the reason he isn’t twenty minutes late, but he’s the reason you’re five minutes later. If you can get him down to two minutes, I’ll shout you dinner next time you’re here.”
Shinji gawks. “Since when do you pay for other people’s dinners?”
“Since she’s had to put up with you, Baldy!”
Momo edges her way past the two as they get into an argument. She meets the gazes of the remaining three Visoreds. Aizawa slowly makes his way towards her and Hachigen follows.
“Hinamori-san, right?” Love says as he nears. “Didn’t really get a chance to speak back during the war.”
“It’s good to finally meet you, Lieutenant,” Hachigen greets.
Although she feels a slight thrum of anxiety, Momo is surprised how calm she is. Perhaps because she met them during the war before they went to the Soul Palace, and they’d help seal the cracks between the Soul Society and the World of the Living; without their efforts, who knew how the war would’ve turned out. Before any of that, she’d seen and heard Shinji speak to these people over the denreishikai. He’d talked about them both fondly and in annoyance, but she could tell the connection he has towards them ran deep.
“Hello, Aizawa-san, and Ushoda-san” she greets in return with a bow of her head. “I’ve looked forward to finally speaking with you all.”

I’m Back from Vacay/Life Update/Writing Update
Gonna getcha up to date on Hiddenland beneath the cut!
Tumblr media
Vacation
I returned from the US Virgin Islands, St. Thomas yesterday.  We were there for 5 days.  I’ve never been, and I’ve also never taken a “do nothing” vacation, so it was an adventure, lol!
We stayed near Red Hook in an air B&B.  The internet basically persuaded me not to try a resort, citing crowded resorts, lack of privacy, etc- also, a lot of resorts don’t really provide easy access to a beach.  Our unit had its own pool, which was a huge selling point...  But unfortunately, it was fed by ice cold spring water.  Literally, when we hurt our feet, we put them in the pool to reduce the swelling.  So...  Well, I was disappointed by that.
But the beaches were stunning, with turquoise water that you could walk into- it was fairly warm, I mean, not “ooof ughh coldcoldcold!”.  I guess the trouble was getting out, since there were constant breezes on the beach, enough for kite surfing in some places.
So if you know me, you might know that I have anxiety and that I’m...  Busy brained?  I was so antsy the first day of the trip, thinking-  Is this really fun?  Wouldn’t doing something be better?  But after about three hours of sitting on the beach, my brain flipped off like a switch.  I never felt like...  “Ahhhh, so relaxed.”  Actually, I don’t know if I’ve ever felt that.  But my brain did go quiet, and I read three books in five days, lol.
We also went on a turtle snorkel and sunset sailing tour.  We did see one green sea turtle, and thank goodness, because snorkeling in St. Thomas was nothing like snorkeling in Hawaii, at least not where we went.  In Hawaii, there’s always something to look at, all kinds of colorful fish.  In St. Thomas, I saw one turtle and a handful of sea stars.  The sailing was nice, though- I’ve never sailed before.
I also got horrendously sunburned the first day.  You know how it is- that first day, I’m all cute in my swimsuit, feeling great.  The second day, I’m wearing a swim shirt, swim trunks for ladies (truly the best thing ever), swim socks, a hat, sunglasses, and visible regret.  Seriously, I really hurt myself, I was in agony.  I applied and reapplied the heck out of my 50 SPF sunscreen, too, so I’m pissed.
If you want more details, let me know, because I learned a lot on the trip about vacationing in St. Thomas.  Overall, I’d say it was a nice lowkey experience, but damn the sunburns and the ice pool were upsetting.
Tumblr media
Also, my shy cat recognized me right away when I came home, which was a relief!  On my last trip, she treated me like I was a stranger wearing a Hidden suit for a few days x_x
Life Update
I feel like I’ve just been...  Adjusting?  To a new life?  The last few months.  I can say that my new job really is a mental health improvement over the last one.  I also get paid more- like appreciably more, and it turns out that this also reduces stress (who knew, right? /sarcasm).  But it is still a huge adjustment, and I’ve already found some of the new problems in the new place (mainly that they are hiring more people than they have space for, and they just... keep... hiring and telling us to deal with it however we want).
I’ve also been focusing on health, particularly exercising and reducing my resting heart rate.  I already reduced it by 2 bpm in about 6 weeks!  Taking better care of my physical self truly is possible, like in quantifiable ways (which makes my scientist brain happy).  It just helps to have small, manageable goals, and to focus on health rather than weight.
Writing News
So for most of camp digimonth, we had daily 45 min sprints for our writers and artists on the discord.  It was really fun to create together, and I’m so proud of everyone!
I hate to say it, but I basically wrote or finished two new chapters, and barely touched my nanowrimo draft.  I also completed an artwork and am mostly done with another.  Er- basically, I did a lot, but also not...  What I...  Thought I would?
Soooo I am thinking that updates to PdA will start again in late February or early March, to give me more time to make a ready-to-post content buffer.
And on that note, I’m going to go write!  Much love, mwah!  I hope you’re all doing amazing.

Useful Tips to Remember When Joining a Charter Fishing Trip
Tumblr media
A fishing trip is the perfect mix of relaxation and excitement; especially when it’s an organised fishing charter. There’s no experience quite like it. You get to have the experience of catching fish while meeting new people and experience anglers who can give you tips on landing the perfect catch.
What is a fishing charter, you may ask? Well, simply put, it’s an excursion service offered by boat owners and professional fishermen which brings guests out onto a body of water for a set time limit in hopes of catching fish and other marine animals that can be classified as seafood. These charters are often rented at set rates per time limit or can be customized to meet the needs of the group.
If you and your mates are interested to join a fishing charter and want to dabble in the experience, here are some tips on how to enjoy a charter fishing trip and make the most out of the whole experience:
Know When to Go Fishing
If you have a very specific fish that you want to target, you need to know when they’re available in the local waters where you’re going to fish. The captain will help you determine when the best time to catch those special fish and help you understand when you should book your charter. Knowing when to go fishing will enable you to focus 100% on the species of fish you want to catch. Talk with the captain first before setting a time and date for the charter trip.
Pack Smart
Most charter boats have a list of equipment, supplies, and gear that you should bring with you. You can easily purchase fishing gear in marine boat shops near you. Don’t forget to pack water and food. You also need to include these items such as extra pair of clothes, medication, sunglasses, a hat, medication for seasickness, first aid kit, and your trusty smartphone. Take down this list because it is designed to help you have the most comfortable experience while fishing for long hours.
Respect the Captain and His Crew
The captain of your charter boat is a highly skilled professional so it’s expected he knows what he’s doing. A good captain will be able to help you fulfil your bucket list of fishing for each trip that you take with him. Treating him with respect helps make that happen. A good tip is always to ask permission to come on board his boat. He’ll gladly welcome you aboard. Make sure not to litter inside the boat and don’t touch any equipment without permission. Be polite and friendly. Anglers can be chatty at times so try to engage in polite conversation with them.
Focus on Learning Not Catching
One mistake that aspiring anglers make is they come with a long list of expectations that are unreasonable and unreachable. It’s easy to idealise the experience and end the trip on a high note by landing a big game of fish. While it’s okay to set a goal on what type of fish you want to catch, be sure to be realistic about the whole experience. It’s okay to say you want to catch this kind of fish or whatever, but asking to catch a big game fish that’s not in season or targeting a specific species that is notoriously elusive is sadly not likely going to happen. Instead of having those grand expectations, set your mindset to something else: come prepared to learn more about fishing and make that your focus. What you catch or if you catch anything will really depend upon skill level and that is what you’re here to build up to.
If you have specific requests for fish or fish species that you want to target, you must reiterate that to your captain while you’re booking your charter. Captains are very wise, and they know the lay of the land and the water. They will be able to pair you with like-minded fishermen who want the same thing that you do. Keep your list simple and give the captain a few options for fish. Some fish may not be in season or may not be available because they migrate. Don’t be too disappointed if the fish you want to catch is not in season. Open your mind to catching other species.
Tipping is a Great Way to Help Boost Your Local Fisherman’s Income
Most charter boats have a tipping section on their website since tipping makes up a very large portion of their income. You want to know whether or not tips are shared among all the crew or just specific members of the crew and what an acceptable amount for tipping should be. If you had a good time and the crew has been good to you be sure to tip well and explain to them your gratitude for their service. They are imparting your life lessons and the skills you need to master the art of fishing if you should decide to fish on your own. That service is valuable and should be appreciated.
Be a Friend to Everyone Onboard
Charter boats often have mixed populations of people who don’t know each other. To get along with them, you need to be accommodating while you’re on a charter boat. It’s a good idea to start by making friends with people on the boat. Those relationships even if they’re only hours long can be very beneficial throughout your fishing adventure. It’s not uncommon that people who meet on charter boats to become lifelong friends and meet up in different locations to enjoy the sport that brings them together. Seize the opportunity to make connections and network while you can. These people can help you build your career in angling. For example, they can give you valuable tips and teachings on how to fish on your own or how to get the best deal on buying a new boat for sale in the market.

#APEX WAVEMAKER DRIVER#
We have tested many pumps in our lab and the WAV has one of the quietest driver systems on the market today. In fact, the ramping and pulsing sounds can even resonate into solid floors and be heard in other rooms. Some of today’s most popular water moving pumps are anything but quiet. Dollar for dollar you will not find a higher-quality controller that gives you. The flow in your aquarium can be as unique as your favorite coral! The Apex System is the best-value aquarium controller on the market today. The easy to use Apex Fusion scheduling graph makes it a snap to set up huge waves in the morning, stir up detritus in the afternoon, and slow the flow at night. You can even set one or more pumps to mirror or be the inverse of another. So Apex Fusion controls the WAV with a multitude of patterned flow and random settings. Originally manufactured for reef aquarium that houses various invertebrates and corals, this wavemaker powerhead is very serviceable at home specifically for planted fish tanks. Jebao OW Wave Maker Flow Pump with Controller. We know that everyone likes their flow a little bit different. Besides these cons, it is one of the most less pricey and excellent marine tank pumps ever. You get the flow where you need it and you stop blocking the beautiful side views of your aquarium! Imagine mounting the WAV on the back side glass or even the back wall, set an angle, and kicking the flow off the side or front glass. Neptune Systems has been proving you ability to control your tanks in every aspect. This provides so many more options than flow that coming straight out from the side or back of the aquarium. With its innovative, low-profile magnetic mount, you get up 40 degree range of motion on the pivot and then the entire pump rotates 360 degrees. This is the approach we took with the WAV. Through research we found that most customers usually never need to point their pump at extreme angles – usually 20 degrees one direction or another is enough. The Tunze Nanostream 6040 Circulation Pump is the ideal wavemaker for medium-sized Aquariums, with magnets rated for. The WAV answers both of these problems with a new take on an articulating mount. Jebao SLW-LPH adjustable aquarium wave maker and circulation pump, suitable for the fish tank size from 30cm to 60cm Comes with magnet mount, tank thickness up to 8 mm,the tank thickness not more than 8mm.
#APEX WAVEMAKER PRO#
Having a powerhead that can be pointed in all directions is nothing new, but the hardware to make that happen usually takes up too much space and is unsightly. Make sure this fits by entering your model number. Buy Polarized PRO Replacement Lenses for Maui Jim Wavemaker MJ109 Sunglasses - By APEX Lenses (Black): Shop top fashion brands Replacement Sunglass Lenses. This really limits an aquarists options and, in some cases, obstructs the view. Unfortunately, some of the leading water moving pumps on the market only send flow in a direction perpendicular to the glass. Magnetic mount works on up to 1″ glass (in a class by itself)Įasy installation with just a single skinny wire for all power and control (1LINK interface makes it a snap!)Ĭompetitively priced (In USA just $199.95 for one WAV, $499.95 for the WAV Starter Kit with two WAVs and a 1LINK Module)ĭirectional flow allows stealth mounting options Incredibly Quiet (possibly the quietest driver on the market) GAIL III 559304 NO STRING WAVEMAKER WAVERLY WAVEY 11 WAVR 415 USN. Walden Catalyst, Warburg Serres Investments, Wavemaker 360, Wes McKinney. installation with just a single skinny wire to 1Link or APEX Gold for all power and control. Multiple operational modes (random flow modes, mirror, inverse, etc.)Įasy to clean (pump automatically shuts off when removed from water) Andreessen Horowitz, Anthony Sassano, Anvilogic, Apex Capital Partners. More than 4000 gallons per hour of it! Better yet, for the same amount of flow, the WAV is smaller, uses less power, and is quieter than the most popular powerhead pumps on the market.Ĭompact size (less total mass compared to nearly all similar flow pumps)ĭirectional flow (pivots with 40 degree range of motion and can be rotated – great for rear wall use) I also have some programing there for night mode, and if a power outage happens and the water level goes down a bit, water isn't sloshing over the edges (yes that happened).Requires: 1LINK Module with open port on Apex, Apex Lite, or Apex Jr.Īpex with open 1LINK port on EnergyBar 832 After you get the wave you want for your tank, and it isn't as simple as copping someone's programing because due to size and rock work, yours will be different.

Caring for Your Eyes: Essential Tips for Optimal Eye Health
Tumblr media
Your eyes are incredibly precious, serving as windows to the world around you. Yet, amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to neglect their care. Proper eye care isn't just about maintaining good vision; it's also crucial for overall well-being. By adopting simple yet effective habits, you can safeguard your vision and promote long-term eye health.
Regular Eye Exams: Schedule routine eye examinations with an optometrist or ophthalmologist. These professionals can detect early signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration, which often show no symptoms in their initial stages.
Healthy Diet: A balanced diet rich in vitamins and nutrients is beneficial for your eyes. Include foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants like vitamins C and E, and zinc. Leafy greens, fish, nuts, and citrus fruits are excellent choices to incorporate into your meals.
Protective Eyewear: Whether you're outdoors or working on a computer, safeguard your eyes from harmful UV rays and digital screen glare. Wear sunglasses with UV protection when outdoors and consider using blue light filtering glasses when using digital devices for extended periods.
Hydration: Adequate hydration is essential for maintaining the moisture balance in your eyes. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent dryness and irritation.
Proper Lighting: Ensure adequate lighting in your workspace and living areas to reduce eye strain. Avoid reading or working in dimly lit environments, as this can cause unnecessary stress on your eyes.
Frequent Breaks: If you spend prolonged periods staring at screens, practice the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and focus on something 20 feet away. This simple exercise helps reduce eye fatigue and strain.
Avoid Rubbing Your Eyes: Refrain from rubbing your eyes, as this can introduce dirt, bacteria, and other irritants, potentially leading to infections or corneal abrasions. If your eyes feel itchy or irritated, use artificial tears or consult with an eye care professional.
Quit Smoking: Smoking is linked to an increased risk of several eye conditions, including cataracts, macular degeneration, and optic nerve damage. Quitting smoking not only benefits your overall health but also contributes to better eye health.
Stay Active: Regular exercise promotes good circulation, which is beneficial for eye health. Engage in activities that get your heart rate up, such as walking, swimming, or cycling, to maintain optimal blood flow to your eyes.
Get Adequate Sleep: Quality sleep is essential for eye health and overall well-being. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night to allow your eyes to rest and rejuvenate.
In conclusion, prioritizing the care of your eyes is vital for maintaining good vision and preventing potential eye problems. By incorporating these simple yet effective practices into your daily routine, you can protect your eyes and enjoy optimal eye health for years to come. Remember, your eyes deserve the best care possible, so make it a priority starting today.
