How to Prep Your Pre-Loved Luxury Items for a Successful New Year’s Sale
Tumblr media
As the New Year comes, it's the perfect opportunity to tidy, refresh your wardrobe, and create a way for new finds. If you're considering turning your pre-loved luxury items into extra cash, planning is vital to a successful sale. This guide will help you get the most of your belongings while making the transaction easy and satisfying, whether you're looking to sell your Hermès handbags, sell your second-hand luxury Chanel bags, or find a new home for your Louis Vuitton discounted bags.
Thinking more?
Imagine beginning the year with more money to spend on something significant or new, as well as a lighter, better-organized closet. Selling previously owned luxury goods is a thrilling way to give things you've treasured a fresh lease on life, in addition to helping you declutter. It's possible that your cherished Hermès handbag will become someone else's ideal accessory or that someone could discover a new passion for your timeless Chanel purse. The procedure doesn't have to be intimidating; in fact, it can be a journey of empowerment that combines elegance with sustainability.
By opting to sell, you’re sharing its legacy while generating space for the next chapter in your collection. Additionally, selling your pre-owned luxury bags is now simpler than ever thanks to a growing number of platforms, which allows you to reach a worldwide audience ready to offer your goods a second chance at life. Together, let's set out on this adventure to make sure your products stand out in the booming resale market.
Why Selling Pre-Loved Luxury Items Is a Win-Win
Luxury items retain remarkable value, especially when well-maintained. Platforms specializing in pre-owned luxury are booming, offering opportunities to sell pre-owned luxury bags, sell Gucci men purses, or even sell pre-owned watches to a global audience. With more buyers seeking sustainable shopping options, there has never been a better time to list your coveted pieces.
Why It's Beneficial to Sell Pre-Owned Luxury Items
Particularly when properly cared for, luxury goods preserve their exceptional worth. Pre-owned luxury platforms are flourishing, providing chances to sell pre-owned luxury bags, Gucci men's purses, or even sell pre-owned watches to a worldwide clientele. There has never been a better moment to offer your desired items because more consumers are looking for eco-friendly shopping solutions.
Here's how to prepare your products so they stand out and sell fast.
Step 1: Evaluate Your Collection
Determine which things you are prepared to part with first. Do you have any watches, purses, or accessories that you no longer wear?
Consider this:
Does this item still seem good?
Does it suit the way you live now?
In the last year, how many times have you utilized it?
Even if they are gently used, luxury items like Hermès Birkins, Chanel flap bags, or LV bags can command significant prices. However, specialized products, such as a Gucci men's purse, may only be appealing to a small number of people but still have a high resale value.
Step 2: Clean and Restore
The condition should be up to the mark as it will help increase its value. Here’s how to make it shine:
Clean the Exterior and Interior: For leather bags, use a gentle leather cleaner. For fabric or canvas items, spot-clean stains with a damp cloth. Ensure that the interior is free of crumbs, ink stains, or odors.
Polish Hardware: Buff metal clasps, zippers, and studs for a like-new shine.
Condition the Leather: Apply a quality leather conditioner to prevent cracking and restore the item’s luster.
Repair Minor Issues: Replace missing studs or have zippers fixed by a professional. Consider minor touch-ups for scratches on watches or handbags.
Remember, potential buyers of Louis Vuitton discounted bags
or Hermès handbags will appreciate items in excellent condition.
Step 3: Gather Documentation
Authenticity is everything when selling luxury things. These can raise the value of your item and lend credibility. For instance:
Sell second-hand luxury Chanel: When selling used luxury Chanel, make sure the hologram sticker and authenticity card are still in place.
Sell your Hermes handbags: When selling your Hermès handbags, make sure to keep the original box and dust bag.
Sell high-end accessories: Including evidence of purchase or certification increases credibility.
Use third-party authentication services to confirm your item if you've misplaced the original paperwork.
Step 4: Take Excellent Pictures
Does Initial impressions count? Yes, ofcourse. Showcase your stuff with high-quality photographs to draw in a buyer:
For clarity, use a lightbox or natural lighting.
Take pictures from every aspect, including up-close shots of specifics like hardware, stitching, and logos.
To gain the trust of the buyer, honestly point out any flaws.
Display the watch's face, strap, and any box or papers that come with it.
When you sell pre-owned luxury bags or sell pre- loved luxury items, attractive photos can help your listing stand out.
Step 5: Examine Market Patterns
Know what your products are worth on the market right now before listing them. Look through recent sales on luxury resale platforms. For instance, Hermès Kellys and Chanel Boy Bags are frequently more expensive. For example:
Limited-edition or seasonal collections typically draw high-end customers.
Due to their wider appeal, accessories like Gucci belts and Louis Vuitton discounted bags may sell out rapidly.
In order to draw in customers and seal transactions, competitive pricing is essential.
Step 6: Select the Appropriate Platform
Different platforms cater to different consumers and needs. Here are a few choices:
Consignment shops: Excellent for expensive items like Chanel classics or Hermès handbags. They take a commission but manage the selling process.
Online marketplaces: For the sale of used luxury bags and accessories, sites such as eBay, Vestiaire Collective, or The RealReal are perfect.
Social media: Sites like Facebook groups and Instagram provide direct communication with customers for products like Gucci men's purse.
To choose which site is best for you, look at its conditions, costs, and audience.
Step 7: Create a Catchy Listing
Provide thorough descriptions and make strategic use of keywords when creating your listing. As an illustration, consider the "Authentic Chanel Medium Classic Flap Bag in Black Quilted Leather with Gold Hardware." The original receipt, dust bag, and authenticity card must be included.
For better discoverability, include terms like sell pre-loved luxury items, sell LV bags, or sell pre-owned watches.
Step 8: Speak with the Buyers
As soon as your belongings are posted, answer any queries. Customers could request more pictures or details about the history of the item. Being polite and quick to respond increases the likelihood of a transaction and builds trust.
Step 9: Close the Deal
As soon as you locate a buyer, make sure the transaction is safe:
Make use of systems that have integrated payment security.
Meet in a public, secure area for in-person sales.
To prevent loss or damage, ship things with tracking and insurance.

Treasured luxury items will continue to be treasured rather than thrown away thanks to this conscientious attitude to fashion.
As you get your stuff ready for the market, consider what you hope to accomplish in the next year. Maybe you want to finance a dream purchase or create a more deliberate wardrobe. Selling pre-loved luxury items can be the first step toward realizing your goals, no matter what they are. Accept the process as a means of evaluating the development of your style and establishing a purposeful, clutter-free beginning to the new year.
Hurry! don't let this chance to sell classic and magnificent pre-owned luxury goods and accessories pass you by.

“Baby…”
Your dramatic drawl came with the equally dramatic act of draping yourself over Chris’s body, effectively gaining his attention from whatever video he was watching on his phone as he happily welcomed your weight sinking him further into the couch.
“Can I ask you something?”
He laughed, tilting his head, “I’d be surprised if you did all that with the intention of not trying to get my attention - what’s up, baby?”
“Can you give me a pearl necklace?”
The twinkle in your eyes did nothing to explain away your sudden request - you weren’t the type to usually wear accessories as it was already, so the desire for a pearl necklace out of any other form of jewelry had him raising an eyebrow.
“Pearls? Like, pearl beads? I mean…” Glancing at his phone, he swiped at the screen to pull up Google, “We can look up some places that sell them if you really want it, I think I can find a few stores that-”
Your hand swiftly slipped his phone from his hold before locking it and stashing it near the couch pillow underneath his head, dismissing his growing confusion with a charming smile.
“Actually, I was thinking that we could make it together.”
“Oh?”
Do-it-yourself, of course - he loved when you had little projects you wanted to include him in, even if the outcome sometimes didn’t go to plan, it was the quality time that mattered the most.
“Sure, I’m down for that,” he sat up while you rose to sit in his lap properly, his hands resting on your bare thighs, “did you buy the stuff already? Do we need to go shopping?”
You shook your head, pink tongue peeking out to wet your lips, “Nope, everything we’d need is right here.”
A devilish swivel of your hips, loose pajama shorts almost becoming an invisible barrier against his worn basketball shorts, and his confusion spiked up once again.
“Pretty, what- Wait a second-” Hands gripping the width of your hips, he tried to will away the near instant reaction his body always had when it came to you, “What’s going on? I thought you wanted to make a necklace-”
“I do.”
Normally, your nod of agreement would’ve been enough to clear the air, but when you pulled your oversized t-shirt up and off of your body, the layers only deepened.
“So why are you taking off your clothes? Not- Not that I’m complaining, I just…” His train of thought began to trail off with the drifting of his eyes down your neck, following the contours of your collarbones to the swells of your chest he’d been acquainted with time and time again. “Are we actually making a necklace here or…?”
“We are,” leaning forward, you placed a featherlight kiss to his pouty lips, “we just need to do a few extra steps first.”
Tumblr media
Chris designed a few pieces of jewelry in his lifetime, and though he wouldn’t say he’s an expert when it came to the actual crafting of the pieces, he’d be inclined to assume that the process of making a necklace didn’t involve his girlfriend on her knees, giving him the best head of his life - granted, he always considered everything she did for him as the best in his life, but his point still stood.
“Fuck… Just like that, baby- Oh, god-” His head fell against the back of the couch, a shiver running down his spine when he felt the tip press against the back of your throat again. “‘S so good, baby - you’re so fucking good, pretty girl.”
You hummed around his length, hollowing your cheeks as you slowly pulled off of him with a wet pop - lips glistening in a mixture of saliva and precum that put any form of lipgloss to shame.
“Just ‘good’, Channie?” Voice laced with teasing allure, you held the base of his cock as you laved your tongue along one of his balls, sucking at the skin and smirking at the kick of his leg in response.
He choked on a moan, one hand gripping the edge of the couch cushion while the other ran through his hair “Baby, please - I can’t- fuck- can’t really think while you’re doing this!”
Giving his other ball the similar treatment, you littered open mouthed kisses along the underside of his cock, “Mm… Can you look at me then, lover boy?”
To be honest, he wasn’t even sure when he had closed his eyes to begin with, but lifting his head and directing his full attention to you made him realize why keeping them closed was working in his favor.
Hypnotizing sultry gaze behind lidded eyes, your lips resting perfectly against his shaft as your hand gripped the base of his dick with practiced perfection - if he even dared to look any further then he’d see the utterly filthy line of saliva coating your chin, or the way your free hand was making itself busy between your legs.
The twitch of his dick was all you needed to feel to know that you had him right where you wanted him, a satisfied smile curving the corners of your lips as you pumped your fist.
“Ready to make that necklace for me?”
His breath hitched, lips parting to let out a shivering moan as he frantically nodded, “Y-Yeah- Shit, yeah - gonna make you look so pretty, princess.”
Your eyes sparkled, a giddy expression almost overtaking the utter lust exuding from you as you doubled your efforts with your hand - the wet, slick sound floating through the air while you jerked him off.
Chris fought the roll of his eyes as he focused on your goal-driven face, bucking into the drag of your palm as if he were truly fucking you, until the pressure in his abdomen became too much to bear.
“I’m gonna come, baby- Oh, god, yes- Y-Yeah, yeah-” His hand flew from the couch and wrapped around your own, angling his dick toward your chest with panted breaths, “I-I’m coming - I’m coming, f-fuck-”
The first splatter of cum landed directly on your neck, dripping its way toward your clavicle and between your breasts. Tilting your head back just a bit, you felt the warmth of his cum land around the curve of your neck, painting a shaky line of white against your skin with each shivering pass of your combined hands.
He let out a strained grunt as the last few drops dotted your cleavage, using your hand to thoroughly milk himself of the final remains before effectively melting into the couch with a worn sigh.
“So…” Giggling, you dropped your chin to get a better look at your exhausted boyfriend, “How do I look?”
Looking down, he noted the way his release seemed to follow the downward curve before either spilling down your collarbones or further filling out the line down your clavicle, adding a sort of teardrop design to your necklace.
“Honestly?” A breathless giggle escaped him as he reached his non-soiled hand out toward his phone, “How about I take a picture to show you, then we can work on adding some accessories to go with it.”
Safe to say, this wouldn’t be the last pearl necklace you’d receive from him.

For a Christmas type of fic could u do kcc x reader where they have their first kiss on Christmas/Christmas Eve
First kisses || Kyra Cooney-Cross x reader
A/N Just a small fluffy one 🫶🏻
Summary You and Kyra share your first kiss on Christmas Eve
When Kyra had originally asked you on a date, you hadn’t expected her to say Christmas Eve.
You’d gone on a few dates now. They started off as friendly dates, just as friends.
But then the lingering touches started, her hand resting on yours on the table, Your legs brushing under neath.
You figured that the date on Christmas Eve was going to be similar to the ones you’d had before, dinner and maybe a movie at the cinema.
But when Kyra messaged you the day before, telling you to wear your big coat and fluffy socks, you somehow knew it wasn’t going to be inside.
After hours of debating what to wear, you finally decided, laying it out, ready for your date.
The day finally came, not only was it Christmas Eve but it was the day of your surprise date.
You were still puzzled on what Kyra had planned.
“Ky, where are we going? Please tell me.” You begged, looking at Kyra as she grinned.
You were on the way there, no satnav on or anything, Kyra clearly knowing the way or having memorised it.
“There’s no way I’m telling you now. I’ve done good so far not telling you.”
“Please…” you pleaded
“Nope. Anyway, we’re in five minutes away. You’re too impatient you are.” Kyra said, you playfully rolling your eyes, knowing she was right.
Just like Kyra said, within five minutes, you were parked and ready to go.
You got out the car, Kyra covering your eyes so you couldn’t see.
“Kyra! Is this really necessary?”
“Yes, it is. It’s a surprise.”
You couldn’t make out where you were.
You could faintly hear the tune of last Christmas playing but you mainly focused on not tripping over as Kyra led you to the mysterious place.
As you got closer, the sound of music and laughter became louder.
“Are you ready?” Kyra asked, you nodding desperately as she took her hands away from your eyes.
In front of you was winter wonderland. The lights were blinding as you looked around.
Fair ground rides were everywhere, food stalls selling the most delicious sounding foods were scattered around.
It was just like you imagined.
“I knew you wanted to come here. I kind of overheard your conversation to Steph about winter wonderland so I thought this would be nice.” Kyra explained, your heart melting as you pulled her into a hug.
“That’s so sweet of you, Ky. thank you.”
You had moved to England from Australia in the summer and had never really experienced a ‘proper’ Christmas, hence why you wanted to come here and experience the best Christmas landmark, winter wonderland.
“Everything’s on me tonight as well. My treat.” Kyra told you, you pressing your lips to her cheek as a thank you.
The rest of the night was incredible.
You went on the fair ground rides together, played a few games, had amazing food.
There was one thing left to do, the ferris wheel.
It took a bit of persuasion to get Kyra to go on the ferris wheel but all it took was a pleading smile from you for her to say yes.
You were nearing the top when you shivered slightly, the temperature dropping as the moon rose.
“Here, have my hat.” Kyra said, noticing you shivering.
She took her hat off, placing it on your head before placing a soft kiss to your cheek.
Your cheeks reddened, your eyes catching Kyra’s as you watching her own flicker down to your lips.
Small snowflakes fell around you both, the first fall of the year.
The snow glistened as it fell, you and Kyra still not looking away from each other.
Slowly but surely, you both began to lean in.
It felt like a lifetime before your lips finally met in a sweet but passionate kiss.
You both pulled away when it felt right, the two of you having rosy cheeks and smiles on your faces.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for weeks.” Kyra admitted, a small chuckle leaving her lips.
“Me too. I really like you, Ky.”
“Will you be my girlfriend, Y/N?”
“Of course I will.”
You rested your head on Kyra’s shoulder, staring out at the city lights that lay before you both.
“Merry Christmas, Kyra.”
“Merry Christmas, Y/N.”

Here’s a Jason idea for you: imagine a criminal he’s fighting as Red Hood suddenly mentions you, by name, to mess with Jason. Jay would absolutely obliterate the criminal, but that leaves the question of how his enemies know about you… I love the potential for angst/protective Jason 😍 Also, I love your writing so much, it always makes my day to see you on my feed! Thank you for sharing your writings 💞🥰
Tumblr media
Tw: blood and violent stuff.
Also thank you for enjoying my stuff! It’s really appreciated and makes me wanna write a lot more in the future. It’s just nice being reminded that people do like the stuff that I put out and not hate it as much as I do when looking back on them.🤣 🦦
A well placed punch to the face landed the criminal flat on his back as he groaned upon impact and was currently struggling to get back up to his feet, only to be pinned by a heavy combat boot weighing down on his chest. Finally Jason had caught up with the drug dealer that had been lurking near children and vulnerable adults alike for the past couple of days, and right where he wanted him too.
‘It’s such a shame that you caught me as fast as you did RedHood because just you came along, I was going to pay one last person a visit before the night was over.’ The criminal smiled, showing off his blood stained teeth in the process, his smile then became a grimace as Jason put more of his weight onto his chest. ‘Well it was a good thing that i came when I did because after tonight, you won’t be selling drugs to anyone anymore, that I can guarantee.’ Jason growled, feeling his blood boil hotter for every second that he didn’t put a bullet in this assholes head.
‘What was their name?’ The criminal trailer off, not heading Jason’s warning and throwing his head back and laughing. ‘Oh right now I remember, it’s Y/n. What a pretty name for an even prettier person.’ Jason froze at the mention of your name, his blood had gone cold but his anger skyrocketed at the insinuation of you being placed in any sort of danger. Whether it be by a drug dealer or otherwise, the same conclusion was to be expected with Jason and that was that he would personally hunt down every last thug, drug dealer and crime lord that ever dared to speak your name.
Jason wordlessly then grabbed the criminal by the collar of his shirt and threw him into a wall with all his strength. Watching on as the scumbag crumpled the floor as he then began to stalk towards him before gradually breaking out into a run and brutally ramming his knee into the criminals head. Jason wasn’t done there though, not by a long shot. He wanted the make the bastard pay for having your name come out of his filthy mouth, he wanted to tear him limb from limb, put him back together again so that he could rip him limb from limb all over again before ever giving him the satisfaction of death.
‘You will never, ever, ever bring anyone to harm ever again! Not while I’m here, not while I’m still breathing and able bodied enough to tear you fuckers to bits!’ Jason hissed pure venom as each of his punches become more and more brutal then the last, his knuckles were going to bruise like hell and hurt like hell too, but the pain and punishment he’d receive would be all worthwhile if it meant keeping you safe and sound. Jason would gladly taken on any punishment anyone could throw at him if it meant you remained unscathed, he’d happily gain more scars on his body if it meant that you could sleep easier at night, Jason always had your best interests in mind whenever he was clearing the streets of Gotham.
He was doing it for you, he was doing it for the kids at Crime Alley, he was doing it so that everyone could have a peace of mind; And he didn’t care about the methods he took to obtaining that.
It wasn’t long until the criminal stopped moving all together, Jason didn’t care that his fists were stained with blood, he just stood up and left the criminal in the alleyway where he was brutally beaten to death and headed home; to you with a heavy mind and a growing pit within his stomach because if a low life scumbag like him knew you by name…then who else did? Black mask? Penguin? Two face? Scarecrow? Carmine Falcone? He didn’t like to think about this one but does Joker know? All these thoughts running through Jason’s head didn’t do him a whole lot of good with his ever growing sense of dread and slight paranoia; He had to get to you and he had to get to you now before anything else happened before the night ended.
‘I’m coming baby, just please still be there when I get home, please don’t let them take you away from me.’ Jason muttered under his breath as he pushed himself forward as he ran from rooftops to rooftop, determined to make it to the apartment before anyone else does because if they did, may god have mercy on their souls because Jason would go to war for you and will violently cut anyone down to size if they were to come between him and you; For nothing got between you and Jason and if they did, Jason would make sure to deal with it before it became more of a problem.
‘Sweetheart? Are you in here?’ Jason called as he slammed the door behind him.
‘Jason? What’s-‘ you rushed into the room and gasped upon seeing the dried blood on his knuckles and his paling face as though he looked about to pass out where he stood. ‘Oh my god.’ You whispered as you rushed towards Jason who rushed towards you, arms out stretched to grasp your waist while your hands held his face. ‘What happened out there? I thought you said it was a simple mission.’ You said, concerned for Jason as he seemingly let out a sigh of relief and rested his forehead against yours.
‘It was meant to be a simple mission but then…’
‘Then what?’ You asked, stroking his cheeks reassuringly and feeling him melt into your touch like he did every night he came home from a long patrol or mission, but he also did it when he needed to feel you on him after waking up from a nightmare.
‘He said your name chipmunk.’ Jason squeezed his eyes shut as though he was trying to rid himself of the events that happened early on and focus on the feeling of your thumbs caressing his cheeks lovingly instead. ‘He said your name -clear as day I heard him say it- and before I knew it I was wailing on him until he stopped moving…all because he said how he was going to come for you next and I couldn’t…’ Jason paused to regulate his breathing that he hadn’t noticed had become fast and uneven the more his mind lingered on that small detail. ‘I couldn’t let him do that. I won’t let them take you from me. Never.’ He then tightens his grip on your waist as he kept uttering the extent he was willing to go to keep you in his life under his breath, almost as though it were a prayer or a promise, which ever one it was you weren’t quite sure but you let Jason squeeze you against his chest with his strong arms like a stress toy to his hearts desire.
‘It’s okay Jaybirdie. I’m right here, can’t you feel my warmth? Hear my voice? I’m right here baby. So you can squeeze me, hold me, cuddle me as much as you need to feel alright again because I’m not going anywhere with my Jaybird.’ You said loud enough for him to hear over his thoughts, pressing kisses into anywhere that you had access to, whether it be his shoulders, face, neck, forehead, you’d plant several kisses to each of those areas respectively. You may act calm but much like Jason, you too didn’t like the idea of some random criminal knowing your name. The implications of that were endless and it would be enough to put anyone on edge or even over it depending on their mental state, and to put it lightly Jason’s mental state wasn’t the healthiest.
The occasional whimper and sniff that came from him only made your heart hurt even more that you were willing to put aside your own fears about the situation to instead focus on comforting Jason, who must be feeling it ten times worse then you were, but it was the fact that in this moment you were bonded by a shared fear but that fear could be eventually overcame by the pair of you working together. ‘It’s okay baby it’s okay, we’re not going anywhere, they can’t make us because we’re stronger together.’ You spoke into the skin of his cheek as you finished pressed a thousand kisses onto them.
‘Stronger together.’ Jason echoed as he pressed himself further against you to feel you closer to him. ‘We’re stronger together.’ You smiled softly, seeing that you finally go through to him somewhat. However you were more than willing to stand in this position all night if it meant bringing Jason back from the edge within his mind because nothing was more important than having your Jason back.
‘That’s right baby.’ You cooed. ‘We’re stronger together, nothing will tear us apart.’
‘Promise?’ Jason asked looking deep into your eyes, it felt as though he was looking at you rather then through you which has your breath hitching in your throat momentarily.
‘I promise.’

Tumblr media
Read Most here | ~ 6.1k words
From me: I might be changing this from 5 parts to 6 parts 🎉 I wanted to get further in this section, but felt like a good place to stop as well.
Warnings: I think this part is more fluffy than the last couple, but of course there's some angsty stuff hiding in here too.
Summary: There are about 200 question Harry wants answered. But he can barely ask one because she's home. She's got a lot of worries. But maybe most pressingly, is finding out if Harry's moved on.
Tumblr media
*Six Weeks Earlier*
Addie and Carter were arguing over the inconsistencies of the movie they were watching with what was recorded in history. Addie was obviously winning. But she thought Carter just liked to see her riled up, like to have her argue just a little because she got so excited when she did. She was so passionate, and it made Carter’s face glaze over as she showed off her expertise.
As they quietly bickered on the sofa, she was at their little kitchen table.
She was looking at apartments for rent near her mom because Addie was probably holding out on asking Carter to move in solely because of her. There weren’t a ton of options—no real surprise on her end. She didn’t want to live in the same town as her school as she thought of post-graduation and how it would be flooded with students, and she thought that parties outside her apartment wouldn’t be conducive to writing the next best-selling romance novel. (If she could muster the strength to go through such a feat.)
Her quest brought her to another search engine, and it seemed as if it was the holy grail. Reasonable rent, new building, new appliances, semi-walkable—it seemed too good to be true.
It was. Truly.
There was one issue. But only one. Her browser’s location services were majorly off course—the last time she visited the website must have stored her old info. Back when she thought she was going to have to find a place of her own because her mom was going to move away, and she was going to need a way to stay close to Harry.
The location was the life and town she left behind were part of the new building’s address. Her email pinged with a message regarding her schedule for the semester. All online classes so she could focus on working and writing as much as possible.
For a second, she forgot. Forgot all about her heartache and the pain she probably caused. He was probably over it by then. She hadn’t forgotten, but she figured three years later, he must have. But there was this pull on her chest to call him. To tell him about the place. Hi baby! I found a place for us to live. Do you like it?
With a shake of her head, she pulled herself out of it and examined the floorplan.
Addie and Carter were still debating. “—The American Revolution is constantly blown out of proportion,” she told him knowingly.
It pained her to interrupt, but it was now or never. “Do you guys think I should still jump?” She asked quietly. They both turned to her. Tilted their heads in curiosity. Almost simultaneously. Carter turned away first, pausing their movie and Addie was already crossing the room to look over her shoulder.
“Oh,” she blinked. “Oh,” she looked at the address for the apartment building. “You... you want to go back?”
Carter followed over and smiled, sat next to her, squeezed her arm. “That’s awesome,” he smiled. “Of course we—”
“What about your classes?” Addie frowned. “We’re supposed to have a year.”
“Well, I can’t keep living here when you’re days away from asking Carter to move in,” she rolled her eyes. Carter chuckled.
“I’d pick you over him,” Addie grumbled.
“Hey!”
“Oh please,” she laughed shaking her head. “I would never make you make that choice... don’t you want to have weird shower sex without me around?”
Carter smirked, his cheeks turning red slightly as he looked at Addie knowingly. “Told you that you were too loud,” he winked, kissed her cheek, and headed to the kitchen to start something for dinner.
Addie glared at him for implying it was her fault. Then she stage-whispered. “He does this thing where he turns me so that the angle—”
“Addison.”
The girls giggled. Then she turned to her laptop again. “My schedule just came through. My classes are online... there’s no apartments by my mom or aunt...” she swallowed feeling the anxiety creep up from her stomach. It moved to her chest, then her throat making her voice quiet. “I just think... if I go now... and I see that he’s moved on then I can... I can too. A reset.”
Addie stared at someone who was sure to be one of the most beautifully talented, insanely intelligent, and incrediblysuccessful authors of the 21st century. She was so honored to have her in her life and be her best friend.
Even if she was an idiot. “You really think he would have moved on?” She wondered.
She shrugged, hovered her mouse over the link to apply for the apartment. “Wouldn’t you?”
There was a pause as Addie watched her. “I’m going to run to get some ingredients,” Carter said tugging Addie toward him for a swift kiss. He grabbed his keys off the counter, then kissed the top of her hair as well. It made her blush because quite frankly, other than flirting at the restaurant, she hadn’t had physical male affection in years and even Carter’s assuring hand squeezes made her a bit flushed at times.
There was nothing at the store; he didn’t need ingredients. She and Addie had gone shopping the day before for all the food they could ever want (at least for the week). But Carter was perfect, and he knew when they needed their girl time.
Addie took the notebook that resided at the end of their faux-dinner table. She kept it there for inspiration. She never knew when the mood would strike to write something and since her best writing was often done at the table—be it essays, some of her favorite ideas, or just a grocery list where her handwriting looked nice—she liked to have something to work from when she was stuck for a thought. Addie lifted the cover slowly. Her heart took off, terrified of someone else seeing her most personal thoughts. But instead, she stayed silent, and Addie pointed to the inside cover.
A heart with her name and Harry’s written in the center took up majority of the space.
“When’s this notebook from?”
A brief pause as she tried to date it from visual and handwriting. There were so many notebooks she owned it took a moment to figure out which was which. “I was... ten,” she swallowed.
Addie nodded and went to the coffee table. She removed a cup of tea off the cover, a few hundred rings lined the blue cover as if it were truly a coaster and not one of the notebooks that would be in a museum about her famed author-life hundreds of years from now. “When’s this one from?” She asked and held out the nearly identical inside cover—another heart bearing two names.
She didn’t need much time to identify this one—it truly was her favorite. The evidence and words that reflected the first time Harry told her he loved her were written within the pages. “Sixteen.”
Then she went to the bookshelf tucked in the corner of their main room. This notebook was wedged between copies of novels she refused to part with, even though they hadn’t been read in years and they weren’t necessarily her favorites, but they were a part of her love of writing and books throughout school and home: Of Mice and Men; Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry; Perks of Being a Wallflower; The Kite Runner. Books she didn’t think of as romances but books that made her feel. The purpose of the notebook that resided among those titles was to remember those feelings even if they were painful. “This one?” She wondered.
“Eight,” she whispered. She started that one when she read her first Babysitter’s Club novel. “But I wrote in it last week too,” after she finished Where the Crawdads Sing.
There on the inside cover was the same heart and same names as every other notebook.
“What about the one on your nightstand, for your dreams?” Addie asked.
She blinked, looked at her lap. Twenty-one... I bought it last week when I filled up the one before it that I used for dreams. I liked the green and gold pattern. It reminded me of his eyes. But Addie already knew all that. There was a picture of Harry on her fridge. The two of them on his final day of school, her arm around his waist and his draped around her shoulders. They were just kids there. Unknowing that a year later she would break both their hearts. Sometimes she looked at that picture and wondered what it would be like if she didn’t leave. Maybe she would still be in the very same spot. Because Harry would have grown tired of her and their hum-drum life.
“I know I didn’t move on, though, Addie.”
“He didn’t either,” Addie put her notebook back safely between The Princess Bride and My Antonia.
“Addie... you don’t know him.”
“You don’t write fifteen notebooks worth of love poems about a man that doesn’t love you even half as much. Even if he loved you an eighth the amount that you loved him, you would still have the greatest love story ever,” Addie was confident. Watched her friend wordlessly as she processed all that.
After several more seconds of silence, she finally answered her. “Twenty-seven,” she mumbled.
Addie stared at her in awe. She loved Carter, but truly, her best friend had the greatest love story she had ever heard. “Yeah, exactly.”
Her attention went back to the available apartments. She frowned as she looked at the screen. “They’re all fifth floor,” she closed her eyes. It seemed like an obstacle set out to change her mind. “Maybe I shouldn’t do it.”
Addie was back at the table and pushing her hands out of the way. “So you don’t go on the balcony. It’ll be fine. You’re not going to live there so you can lounge and sightsee the view, anyway. You’re going so you can go back to him,” she reminded her. Not quite ignoring her fears but making sure they didn’t hold her back. Addie clicked the link for the first apartment and began typing in her information as if it were her own; she wrote that she was ready to move in within a month. “What if he hasn’t moved on? What are you going to do if you’re wrong and I’m right?”
It seemed impossible. Harry was beautiful, loving, so kind. Perfect. Why wouldn’t he have moved on?
There was this little flutter in her chest. It felt the way birthday candles flickered when everyone was singing, and the cake was brought to sit before the guest of honor. She grabbed the book at the end of the table and jotted a note down about how hope was often described as a flicker of light in the dark. When all seemed lost. But no one ever mentioned how darkness often came right after a birthday wish. How hope was really nothing more than a flameless candle.
Because of what she just wrote, she blew out a deep breath. “I hope you’re right,” she whispered as she closed the notebook again hoping her wish would come true.
*Present*
It felt like he couldn’t get back to the station fast enough. He left his coffee behind in the truck; only two sips taken from it. But it turned out it couldn’t compare to the adrenaline he felt then. He left his wallet behind in his locker. That didn’t matter, either. He didn’t need it.
Nothing else mattered.
He barely said goodbye to anyone and left his coworker to tell the rest of the shift why he was rushing to get out of the station. Normally, he took off his uniform before leaving but the thought of not seeing her, or that she was already gone had him sprinting to his car in the lot. Instead of his change of clothes he remained in his standard-issued navy-blue pants and the flame-resistant boots. Fortunately, he chose the station’s T-shirt and not the more formal button down for the day. It was the smallest bit more comfortable and slightly less ridiculous to be out and about.
Maybe she was just a figment of my imagination. He thought to himself. But his partner saw her. So unless he was projecting said figment...
She really was home.
To further his torture, his car and flow of traffic refused to go faster than the speed limit. It was utterly infuriating for his cause. He wanted nothing more than to just be there beside her. Nonetheless, he returned to where he last saw her car; turned right onto the street at the light and drove until something looked like she could be there. His heart was racing faster than it had in years. Adrenaline and excitement rushing through his body, making him sweat with anxiety. But it felt good. Like it was the best thing. It felt like he had just finished running. It was pure joy.
She was home.
There was an apartment building that seemed entirely too tall for their town. But he pulled into the lot wondering if he could identify the car that he saw on the road. He pulled into the spot beside it once he saw it, his heart in his throat. Harry took a deep breath, closed his eyes and tried not to panic. Scaring her off was his worst fear and if he did so, he might lose his mind worse than he ever had.
There was a metallic sound that hit his ears as he opened the door. Like the way a garage door opened. By the end of the lot was a storage pod, door open, and the sight of her from behind. Harry thought he was going to cry but he swallowed the emotion down. Slowly, he walked over, still terrified to scare her.
She disappeared deeper into the pod, and he heard a crunching, scraping sound. As he approached, he realized she was trying to maneuver a loveseat sofa out of a truck all by herself. There was a small dolly on the ground outside the storage pod entrance and Harry wondered if she seriously intended on lifting all the heavy stuff on her own like this.
“Fuck,” she hissed. The end of the sofa she was holding simultaneously dropped to the floor of the truck. “Stupid fucking—”
“Are you okay?” Harry asked instinctively. He went right into the storage pod as if he was moving in alongside her and was joining her because he had stepped out to grab something from his car and was just returning. It wasn’t the grand reunion he had planned, but to be fair, he hadn’t really thought about this moment in a long time.
Even the way her voice sounded when she cursed was sweeter than he could have imagined. She stuck her finger between her lips due to whatever injury she had inflicted upon herself. She shook her head with irritation. “I swear I’m a magnet for those stupid staples they put on the fabric and frame,” she inspected her finger and then pinched it into her hand. Effortlessly, he grabbed her hand. Like he hadn’t missed a day of touching her. He cupped her hand in his, inspected her finger himself. “This is like the tenth time this has happened to me.”
“I think y’need a new couch then, kitten,” he chuckled. It wasn’t his intention to just fall back into the way it was before she left. But it was without thinking—instinctive and natural. It made her heart ache to hear her pet-name from his lips. She sighed and gently tugged her hand from Harry’s and shook her hand, ridding herself of the minor pain. Harry turned and looked at the variety of furniture within the storage pod. Given he had been to her house no less than one million times, he recognized the couch he had also grown up with. The coffee table that they put their feet on when they watched movies. The table in her kitchen where he had so many dinners with her, he couldn’t count it. “Y’mum coming back?” He murmured terrified to hear the answer but desperate to know why he was seeing her in the flesh after all the years between them.
She shook her head. “No... she’s living closer to my aunt now in this tiny one-bedroom place. So, she had a ton of extra furniture. This is all hers. I’m just picking what I like best.”
His heart felt like it was going to explode out of his chest and jump into hers and live there, the way it was supposed to for all this time. “Y’moving back?” He tried to keep his voice even, so it didn’t sound so hopeful in case he was wrong. But he hoped. He hoped so badly.
“Yeah,” his heart swelled as she nodded shyly. But then her face contorted into a strange expression. Harry tried to place it but he hadn’t ever seen it on her face. Especially not in front of him. Was it...anxiety? About him? That seemed wrong. “Um... if that’s okay?” She asked looking at the ground briefly before gazing back at him.
Why she was asking didn’t bother him nearly as much as it should have. How she could possibly think he was going to decide such a fate was beyond him. But he was immediate in his answer; anything to get rid of the weird expression on her face that made him realize she was thinking about how she needed permission to live in the same town again. He nodded quickly. “’Course!” He almost shouted it. Cleared his throat awkwardly. “I mean... s’not my decision really... but... It’ll be... nice t’have y’back,” he was so worried he was going to scare her off. He was glad he wasn’t holding her hand any longer because he was sure his hands were sweating something fierce.
“Yeah? That’s good. I’m...” she took a deep breath. “I’m really glad I’m back,” she looked at him with those beautiful eyes that he loved more than anything. That gentle smile that made his heart race.
“Good,” he murmured because if he said anything more, he was worried he would cry or ruin whatever moment of bliss this was. She was real and in front of him.
“Can I help y’move this?” He asked.
“Absolutely not,” she shook her head.
He frowned and tilted his head at her. “You are obviously getting off work and I have made you do way too many furniture moves over the years and I don’t think it would be—”
Harry pulled his phone from his pocket and sent a message to his group chat with their friends. “The rest will be here in a bit.”
“No, they’re not,” she looked alarmed. “Harry, you’re joking.”
“Y’know them, kitten. They’re going t’be so excited—”
“Harry, they hate me.”
They didn’t have a lot of time alone. Harry gave them a forty-five-minute window to themselves. It wasn’t much, but he didn’t want to overwhelm her.
Professing his undying love for her after their time apart and begging for her back... he was hoping he wouldn’t manage that in forty-five minutes.
But the idea that anyone could hate her, when he was so completely, wholly, unbelievably in love with her even after three years of not speaking and nothing but memories replaying in his head... “They don’t hate you.” She looked at him nervously, like when they joined a lake party and people pressured her to jump off the plateau leading to the water. “Kitten,” he shook his head. “They missed you. They’ll be thrilled to see you.” She shrugged, unbelieving. “I promise,” he assured her and began distracting the pair of them before he said something ridiculous (even though I love you was so close to the tip of his tongue, it was absurd).
Harry took the end of the sofa that had snagged her finger. “Can y’jus’ guide it for me, kitten?” He asked. She nodded and helped get it off and onto the dolly. It was something small, but an effortless reminder that they worked so well together. They barely spoke, practically reading the other’s mind after all this time as they maneuvered the couch out of the storage pod. Once on the dolly, they made their way for the building in silence. “Elevator?” Harry asked. She nodded, continuing the comfortable quietness. “What floor?” He asked.
“Fifth,” she wrinkled her nose in distaste.
His eyebrows rose in surprise. It felt like a hug that she hadn’t got from him in a long time. The feeling that he remembered something about her. Which was ridiculous—she remembered everything about him. “Y’didn’t ask for a lower floor?” He pouted.
“There were none,” she frowned.
“M’surprised y’agreed.”
“It’s a new apartment building,” she shrugged and shook her head. She felt like an idiot for saying that to him. He probably knew it was a new building. Probably did the safety inspection himself. “Anyway, there weren’t many options around here...” It took every bit of Harry’s crumbling restraint to not invite her to move in with him right then.
He missed her. That went without saying. Worried he would still say something outlandish, likea marriage proposal, he broached a different topic. “How... how was school?”
“Really good. But I only have a semester left because I took all the summer courses,” she explained. “They’re virtual and I... I really missed it here... so I figured... I figured it was time.”
His heart leapt. Praying that he was one of the things she missed but desperately clung to his semblance of coolness. “Miss Smarty Pants,” he murmured with a smile. Then she laughed. Harry thought he was cured. All that time between them was nothing. She laughed, she smiled. She was his best friend. She seemed older, more mature, and somehow more gorgeous than he could have ever imagined. In fact, she was so pretty he felt his mouth move before he could think about it.
“Y’look beautiful,” he couldn’t help but say it as they got to the floor and she gestured down the hall for her apartment.
“That’s very sweet. I lost a lot of weight running around campus and work without a car,” she admitted. “Well... enough weight to...”
Harry sighed, shook his head. Wishing he could squeeze the insecurity out of her like a wet sponge. “Your weight has never had anything t’do with why y’were beautiful, kitten.”
The way her cheeks turned pink made him feel sick. Didn’t people compliment her while she was gone?
Fortunately, he didn’t have to suffer thinking about her lack of compliments for long. “You look great, Harry. But you always did. It was incredible seeing you on the firetruck,” she smiled fondly. “I’m... I’m really proud of you.”
The very pride she felt went directly to his heart, swelled in his chest, and bloomed warmth all through his body. Once more he tried to feign his excitement and overwhelming urge to wrap her in a hug he decided to distract himself. “Where do y’want it?” She took a deep breath and shrugged.
“I don’t know... maybe... against this wall for now, I can move it later.”
“Don’t hurt yourself, love,” he frowned as he settled it into position. He was already worried about how he would manage to invite himself back into her apartment to prevent any self-injury—especially from the staples in her furniture.
“I won’t,” she promised. “I was... going to have Lauren come by once I get settled a little bit. She could help.”
“S’nice. I see Lauren a lot at the coffee shop. M’sure she’ll be happy to see you,” he smiled sweetly.
With the sofa in place, it felt the slightest bit awkward. She worried she would do something insane, like kiss him and put her arms around him like she was his necklace. So instead, she thanked him. “Thank you,” she sighed. “For helping.”
“Of course, love. M’happy to see you. S’been...” he trailed off and shook his head. “Where’s the rest of your stuff?” He asked curiously. He also asked so he wouldn’t continue the end of his sentence about having not seen her in ages.
“Ugh,” she groaned and rubbed her hands over her face. “My storage unit is delayed naturally. There was a mix-up and it’s on it’s way cross country currently, no way to stop it so it’ll be...” she shook her head. “Ages. Until I see it. Fortunately, I have a good chunk in my car... but all my books, shelves, a ton of stuff I’ve collected since college. I don’t even have a glass to offer you a water,” she pouted.
He chuckled. “Oh... s’okay. M’fine, kitten.”
“It’s the principle of the thing, Harry.”
He smiled and looked around again. “S’nice here. The balcony is pretty.”
“I guess... but I don’t plan on going on the balcony unless necessary... this fear of mine is ridiculous. Can’t even enjoy all 804 square feet of it.” She glanced out the door to the balcony. “I don’t think we ever had a building this tall around here. The view, from what I can see, is so pretty. A new way of seeing our pretty little town like this.”
Harry’s heart fluttered erratically over the way she said we and our. But he tried not to panic and instead made himself useful. “Do y’want t’go out there t’get a better look?”
She shook her head. “No way. I’ll probably hyperventilate or throw up or something equally embarrassing.”
He snorted, smiling easily. “I’ve seen you throw up before,” he reminded her.
“I’m well aware, Harry,” she groaned. “That was so gross. Literally the worst. I don’t know why you stayed.”
“I agree it was the worst, but because I thought y’were dying. Not because y’were gross or anything,” he shrugged. “C’mon, I’ll show you,” he moved next to her at the window and unlocked the slider, pushed it out of the way. She watched him step over the little threshold and held his hand out to her.
It was the reason she couldn’t go on a roller coaster by herself or jump off the rope swing at the lake like all their friends did in school. She couldn’t help her mom hang up Christmas lights on the house and always paid Harry to do it for her. Her fear of heights felt irrational. Only a small percentage feared it. Harry was always quick to remind her that the small percentage still accumulated to hundreds of millions of people.
But even still, he held his hand out, waiting patiently and expectantly. Somehow, it was the easiest thing in the world to trust him. The feeling was electric, holding his hand. It was as if no time had passed at all. As if she had said ‘see you tomorrow’ instead of, ‘it’s too far for us.’
He squeezed her hand as she took cautious steps onto the balcony. A measly hand hold. Harry had touched and kissed parts of her that would never see a drop of sunlight but somehow the way he held her hand was more intimate. His palm pressed to hers, warm and familiar. His thumb stroked the back of her hand. It was perfect. It was slow and felt so safe. It was unreal how easily it was to revert to the time before. Harry was there, so she was going to be okay.
“Watch y’step,” he said softly. “S’a little uneven there,” he scuffed his shoe on the floor. “S’probably a support beam,” he explained. She nodded.
“I’ll have to put a little patio rug out here and a table and chairs so no one trips.”
“That sounds so cute. Can y’put a grill out here?”
“A grill?”
“I don’t know. I was thinking about that pound cake bread y’like with the strawberries? Or jus’ marshmallows.”
She smiled eager to hear more about what he remembered and what came to mind so readily. “Uh... I have to read the lease agreement. I’m not sure. Probably a fire hazard. Wouldn’t want you rushing down here because of me,” she giggled.
He smiled and squeezed her hand. He glanced back over the railing and admired the view for a moment. “M’not sure about the whole town, but a good chunk of it.”
“Is that the fire station way back that way,” she pointed and then put her free hand on the railing. Harry stood beside her, following the direction of where she pointed, proud that she was able to stand there without fear it seemed. It made him happy she still felt safe with him. “Yeah, I think so... Mum’s house is...” he pointed the other way. “Y’see the blue house? Four streets back from that.”
“Cool,” she grinned. “Do you live with her still?”
He chuckled. “No... I live...” he squinted a bit and pointed back towards the fire station. “You see the shopping plaza?” He asked. She nodded. “Two streets behind it. The small one.”
“It’s cute... I think,” she giggled again which made Harry chuckle quietly. “I like the trees.”
“I want t’put a hammock in and—” he released her hand to speak and gesture what his plan was with two of the trees in his yard. But she gasped the second he released her hand. Nearly tripped as she stumbled back away from the railing. Harry caught her around the waist before she could fall on the uneven ground. “Hey, careful—”
“Don’t let go,” she reminded him turning toward him slightly but trying to maintain as much distance as she could; given he was holding her around the waist, and she refused to let go. It wouldn’t be fair to him to get too cozy in his arms the way she would have a few years prior.
“Oh,” he swallowed. His heart raced with nerves and anxiety. Part of him felt shame for not realizing what that would do to her. He should have known. He knew how nervous she got about heights. Especially from the level they were on. “M’sorry, kitten.”
She swallowed; her cheeks turned a soft shade of pink. “No, I’m sorry. I was just... I don’t—”
“No, s’okay,” he promised. “I won’t let go,” he assured her and took her hand again (even though he would have preferred to have her stay in his embrace). “I wasn’t thinking.”
She bit the inside of her lip. “It’s not your fault.”
“No, but m’sorry. Didn’t mean t’scare you, love.”
Harry was way too nice. If he was smart, he would have pushed her off the side of the balcony for making him so sad the last few years. “It’s really okay, Harry. I know you didn’t—”
“But I should have—”
“Harry,” she squeezed his hand silencing his sentence. “You don’t need to apologize. I promise. I’m just nervous, you know.”
It was quiet and Harry sighed. “Yeah, I know.”
They could have stayed on that balcony for the rest of their lives if it meant Harry was going to hold her hand and they would stay rooted in that spot. They were silent and watched their not-so-little town, filled with bustling cars and people. “It feels bigger,” she whispered.
“Well, y’did go t’a school with the population of sixteen people and a moose.” The laughter that came from her mouth was like pure magic. Harry swore he never heard anything sound so sweet.
Once they both stopped giggling, she wanted to know more about his hammock and what he planned to do with his yard and other things. She wanted to hear about his career and school and everything in between. As she was about to ask, Harry saw the cars pull into the lot.
Sarah and Eleanor in one vehicle, the boys in the other. “C’mon,” he murmured and pulled her back inside. Silently, they made their way down in the elevator to the parking lot once more. The five of them were grouped together near the back of the two cars, huddled together conferring.
“I bet it’s a creepy shrine. Like he’s going to do a séance to get in touch with her,” Louis suggested.
“She’s not dead, Louis,” Eleanor rolled her eyes. “I’m just worried that he’s finally gone off the deep end,” she frowned.
“Well, it can’t be worse than him asking Lauren where she is all the time,” Sarah grumbled bitterly. Mitch put a hand on her back and gently rubbed the bitter tension from her muscles soothingly.
“Who knows, but he asked for us to bring him pizza, so that’s a good sign, right?” Niall asked.
“They’re going to hate me,” she whispered under her breath as they approached quietly.
“Shh,” he squeezed her hand.
“Can I just say that I’m really worried we’re going to have to call the authorities about him?” Louis asked releasing a massive breath, like it was painful to say the words out loud.
“No, I was thinking the same thing,” Sarah nodded in agreement. “It’s right around the time she left and you know how he gets—”
“The first year was the worst,” Mitch reminded everyone.
“You guys really thought I would text you and tell y’where t’find m’body?” Harry asked. They all turned to the pair of them. Their words disappeared into the air. Silence spread between all of them.
“Holy shit,” Louis whispered.
“Pretty weird of him to ask you to bring pizza if that were the case,” she swallowed nervously. For her whole life these people were her best friends and she abandoned them as much as she abandoned Harry, their town, and everything that was good. She looked at the five pairs of eyes that were unblinking as they processed what was happening.
Niall dropped the pizza. “Oh my God,” he was first. He broke into a quick stride and wrapped his arms around her the way Harry dreamed of doing for the last forty-five minutes. He kissed the side of her head and Harry was just so overwhelmed with jealousy he tried to focus his attention on anything but the way he felt utter dread seeing Niall hold and kiss her the way he had ached to do so for the last three years. “How are you, princess?” He asked.
“I’m okay, how are you?”
“Out of the way!” Eleanor hip-checked Niall before he could answer and wrapped her arms around her the same way that Niall had. Further fueling how jealous Harry was. “Make yourself useful, Niall. Order more pizza!”
“I don’t even have plates or enough seats to have you all in and—”
“Did you think we would get all fancy?” Sarah asked and gently pushed Eleanor aside to get her own hug. “We’ll sit on the floor and eat off the boxes.” Mitch was next and murmured something in her ear that Harry wanted to know desperately, solely because her cheeks turned that pretty shade of pink so much.
Louis was last. Because as hurt as Harry was, Louis was a close second. All of them mourned for their friend in their own ways—even though she wasn’t truly gone. But naturally they put their own grief aside for Harry. But she was back now. Sure, Harry was ready to forgive her instantly, but Louis would be a harder sell it seemed. “Hi,” she whispered. Louis looked at her pensively, making her gulp.
“Hi,” his voice was curt and filled with distrust.
She looked at the ground. “Pretty crazy about Messi, hmm?” She looked back up at him.
“Don’t tempt me, darling,” he grumbled and finally pulled her into a hug. He kissed the side of her face and held her for a long time. Louis also whispered something in her ear, and she nodded against him.
“Well,” Eleanor clapped her hands together. “I was wondering why Harry said we needed to wear comfy clothes. Point us in the right direction, babe. Let’s get you moved back home.”
“You okay?” Sarah asked quietly, taking up the rear with Harry as they moved toward her storage pod. Peppering her with questions and falling back into old jokes and laughter within seconds.
Harry nodded, his heart finally started to feel whole. “Yeah," she turned back and met his gaze with a gentle smile. A smile that made him melt and feel like he could fly if she asked. "Finally.”

Captain John Price
Tumblr media
The two of you returned to base after just recently completing the mission; the target was secured and handled, and you rested in the general area as you looked through your phone again, updating your to-do list as you had stumbled upon the photo of the cute latter art previously. You stop and lean on the counter as you smile. It's so freaking cute, you think to yourself before a nudge takes your attention.
"Come", was all the captain said before you quickly followed along without questions. You’re always eager to follow any instructions he gives; maybe he needed to discuss the upcoming mission. But it’s obvious it's not going to be that as you sit in his car. Where are we going?
You ask curiously as you fasten the seat belt. The Captain only gives you a smile as he presses the gas pedal. "Just getting something to eat", he replies as you nod and relax into the chair. Well, it's nearing evening, and you are, in fact, quite hungry, so a small bite before dinner doesn’t sound too bad. It wasn’t long before you finally reached your destination. It’s a quiet town that has a few stalls and shops, and you walk alongside the captain until you stop before a small cafe, tucked nicely at the end of the street.
You look through the window as you watch the few people and barista chilling inside. It looks warm and cosy; there were soft fairy lights lining the pale yellowish wall with brown pillars supporting the structure. The captain gently places his hand around your back as he guides you to enter the cafe. You follow along as you take in the fresh smell of coffee and pastries and the sight of the small place. Price let you wander around for a while before taking a seat near the stairs, and a waiter quickly came as he greeted him.
"Ah John! It's been a while; I see you brought company." The older man then hands you both the menu as he chuckles and bumps the captain’s shoulder. Price nods back as he glances back at you and says, "Pick anything you want, it’s on me", You give him a surprised look before you nod and take a look. You smile as you look through the list on the menu; it has a lot of cute drinks and desserts, so he saw. You thought to yourself as you ordered a latte; it's apparently their best-selling drink with the 3D cat milk foam on top of the drink. The waiter nods as he looks at Price, to whom he orders tea and some apple strudels. The waiter takes down the order on his notepad before promptly returning to the counter and preparing the orders.
How did you find this place? You ask the captain as you take in the surroundings again; it's a hidden gem, that’s for sure, and the prices on the menu were not bad as well.
"I knew this place because Oliver, the man who took our order just now, used to go to the same college", you hum as a reply and nod.
It's a nice place, and I can’t wait to try the drink, you reply back with a smile as your eyes twinkle with excitement. The captain chuckles as he nods.
"Well, I didn’t take you as someone who likes these kinds of things, but it's a pleasant surprise, don’t worry. So I figured I'd bring you here."
He raised an eyebrow out of amusement as he watched you blush slightly. You huffed out a puff of air before you replied sheepishly,
Ah well, I guess cute things are my weakness after all; who would’ve guessed?
"Just don't let the enemy know, and you’ll be fine", the captain jokes back as your drink arrives, and you immediately close your mouth as you watch the foam wiggle around when it was placed gently on the table.
Oh my god, you whisper to yourself as you gasp and take in the sight, quickly taking your phone out and taking a picture. You glance back at Price with sparkling eyes as you tilt your head, giving him a "are you seeing this?" look as he chuckles and nods. He can feel the joy radiating from your face as you go ahead and stare at the drink, and the way you carefully turn the cup around to see the whole thing? Precious.
He watches you take a sip. You close your eyes and give a nod as you savour the taste. Not only was the drink cute, but the flavour was perfect as well. You can smell the coffee's aroma and see how smooth the drink is. You didn’t realise when you had a bit of foam below your nose as you smiled back at the captain. Price couldn't help but laugh slightly as he took a tissue and wiped off the foam from your face. "Guessing you like it then?", you nod as you place down the cup and cover your mouth slightly to hide the pink blush that’s creeping up to your cheek.
Yeah, it's not too bitter, and it tastes pretty rich. I like it. You reply as you watch him hum and take his strudel and tea.
"Good, we can come here again next time". He says this as he gives you a warm grin and a wink.
John Soap MacTavish

It was another week of training with the two military dogs, specifically Max and Judy, two German Shepherds who have been quite fond of you as they follow the training. Over the course of the regimen, you are supposed to reinforce essential handling techniques and carry out a few conditioning exercises like generalised commands. You may not be a military dog handler, but the training has definitely improved your skills to be one. Soap has joined you on a few training sessions and watches on the side as you smoothly handle the dogs, carrying out the essential steps and watching as the dogs follow you obediently. He finds it inspiring to see you train with the professional dog handler, Sergeant Sam, who has been offering a lot of help and tips.
Today, Sergeant Sam guides you through controlled aggression training for Max, something the dog has had some trouble with for the past few days. Max has shown a good level of precision when commanded to attack a target, but its restraint technique still needs more practice, as Max tends to move before you give your words. You coo and guide Max as you carry out the demonstration, pointing at the volunteer as Max growls. You hold onto the leash firmly when Max tries to run towards the target, and you speak with a steady, calm voice as you patiently coo at the dog.
Alright Max, steady. Not yet. Stay.
Your voice hushed Max as it reduced his growl and made him stand on the ground, no longer pulling on the leash, and wait for your next command.
Okay, good boy Max, you don't forget to praise it immediately. This is one of the many bits of advice given by Sergeant Sam, it is said to give the dog motivation and let it know it’s doing the right thing if you praise its action immediately.
You finally gave the signal after a while, and Max immediately went to jump and bite on the protective coat the volunteer was wearing, growling and displaying its aggression as you guided the dog. Sergeant Sam and you continue to practise a few more times with Max to properly train him to improve his restraining skills.
After a few hours, you were finally given a break as you sat on the floor, sweating as you gently rubbed Max’s head.
There you are, good boy Max~ So proud of you!
You whisper to Max as you feel something poke your back. You glance back and smile as you watch Judy (the other military dog) wagging its tail and giving your cheek a lick.
Ah! Judy, did you miss me? Hey now, who’s a good boy~?
You immediately shower Judy with attention and pat its head as you glance up to watch Soap approaching you. You wave to him as he stands at a distance. You watch his nervousness show as he rubs his neck and taps his foot repeatedly on the ground. You then stand up and order Max and Judy to sit and remain still on the floor as you walk to Soap.
Sergeant Soap, good to see you. You greeted him with a smile as he relaxed slightly and smiled back at you.
"Aye, I saw da training todae; it seems yer gettin better at this!", he said as he nervously glanced back at Max and Judy before staring back at you again. You nodded appreciatively as you chuckled and spoke.
Yeah, Max and Judy have been behaving well, and the training with them is running smoothly. They remind me of my own dog back home, you say fondly as you watch him glance back at you with a surprised grin.
"Wut? You owned a German Shepherd? That’s perfect, then, actually", You watch as he shuffles around his pocket as he holds out a bag of snacks; it’s Milk-Bone dog biscuits! You smile widely as he hands you the snack.
"Well, I wanted to give it to ya as a wae to say thanks since yer took the job for me; you seem close to dogs anyhow; I hope I bought the right thing". Soap says as he laughs and pats your shoulder, "What’s the name?", He asks before you take out your phone and proudly show him photos of your own German Shepherd. It's big, and it has a golden sable pattern that shines ever so slightly under the sun.
Named it Meatball because he always managed to steal some from the kitchen. He is my little ball of sunshine, you explain with a soft giggle as you show him more pictures, swiping the gallery before stopping on one where you were carrying Meatball with a struggling look, face scrunched up with a frown with a grin, you chuckle as you look back at Soap,
He’s almost 5 years old now and still jumps and expects me to carry him around like a baby, even when he's 60 pounds!
Soap laughs along as he stares at the photo. You looked so happy and content, and he likes how cheerful and giddy you are when you start talking about your dog. He’s still scared of dogs, but he felt like with you, he might be able to overcome that fear a little as he listens to your stories.
I'm sorry for babbling so much, by the way. You stop halfway when you realise you’ve been talking for the past 10 minutes about your own dog, but Soap quickly shakes his head as he rests his hand on your shoulder, giving you a reassuring look as he speaks,
"No, no, go on. I love hearing yer talk about Meatball. He’s really cute!", Soap says as he gives you a nudge. "might even visit the fella with how sweet he sounds". Your eyes beamed when he suggested that,
Really? I mean, I don't want to force you to meet him if you’re still uncomfortable and all
Soap nods again as he gives a chuckle.
"Well, I think I'm still a bit nervous, but it's something I want to try again, ya know?", You nod in understanding before you think for a moment and give a reply as you glance back at the military dogs.
How about you start by warming up to Judy? Max is a bit bigger and more intimidating, but Judy is smaller, and he’s more obedient. Do you want to try it? Soap sucks in a breath as he contemplates for a few minutes before finally sighing as he nods slowly. You smile as you rest your hand on his thigh to soothe his nerves.
It's okay; you’re with me. It will be alright. You say gently as you call for Judy to come around. Soap watches as Judy slowly makes its way towards you and Soap, his legs shuffling a bit as his muscles tense up when Judy comes and sits in front of you.
Be good. Soap is going to touch you, okay? You coo at Judy as the dog gives a nod and rests its head on your knee. You glance back at Soap as you hold his hand and speak.
You’re going to be okay; Judy won't bite, I promise. Soap nods with a gulp as he lets you take his hand and guide it to Judy’s head. You watch as he retracts his hand a bit when Judy tilts its head to stare at Soap.
"y-y/n…" Soap says nervously before you pause and rub his hand in small circles,
It's alright; take it slow and don't worry. You speak patiently as you watch Soap nod and take a few deep breaths to calm himself down. You don’t move and continue holding his hand in the air, and wait to let him take the initiative to move, and not long after that, he starts running his finger along the head of Judy’s fur cautiously. Judy remains still as it closes its eyes and wags its tail slightly. You give a small chuckle as you whisper back to Soap,
You’re alright; look, Judy likes you. You say as Soap relaxes more as he watches in awe, smiling slightly when he watches the dog press its furry chin onto your knees and melt into his touches. It’s certainly a much different response to what he imagined, and the memories of dogs biting into his legs and arms still haunt him sometimes. He can feel those sharp teeth sinking into his skin and drawing blood in those nightmares, but now? This dog he's touching is peacefully laying on your knee, not moving an inch as he strokes his fur softly with his palm, it's unnerving to him still, like he still expects the dog to bite him if he lets down his guard. But slowly, he gets more comfortable when he sees no signs of that happening, he also knows that if you're here with him, he'll be alright.
Soap glanced back at you as he held his gaze. "Thank you...", he said with a tone full of appreciation as you smiled back at him and nodded.
No worries, I'm happy you’re able to come this far, you say back with a soft tone as the both of you just continue like this, chatting idly back and forth as Soap slowly strokes Judy’s fur. By the end of the conversation, Judy was resting its head on Soap’s tight, and Soap was no longer trembling as he rests his hand on its head.
Kyle Gaz Garrick

Ever since Gaz dropped off the bear in your room, you’ve been trying to reach out to him. But many times that has not happened because of the busy schedules, and it also doesn’t help that you’re not often teamed up with him.
However, when you do see him, you make sure to give him a nod and an appreciative stare as he returns the same. You’ll admit you were not as close to Gaz when compared to Ghost, but ever since the IKEA trip, both of you have been trying to change that, even if it’s just a bit. Sometimes he brews you a cup of tea in the morning; other times you’ll secretly take on his paperwork when you notice those tired eye bags in the morning.
But you wanted to return the favour with more than just these small gestures. You’ve thought about a lot of options; the first thing was perhaps to buy him a game of sorts. You heard from Soap before that Gaz is a gamer himself and owns a Switch. The problem is that you’re not aware of what kind of games he’s into, and asking those questions will raise suspicions. You have a rough idea that he might like action role-playing and multiplayer games like Elden Ring and World of Warcraft; sometimes you know Soap and Gaz will play Mario Kart because of how loud their laughter can be in their room. But you don’t like guessing and would rather get him something you’re absolutely sure he will like. The other thing you wanted to get him was perhaps a hat or a scarf, seeing as he likes wearing those. But you learned that he is very attached to his scarf, so buying him a new one didn’t seem right to you. As for the hat, you actually found a blue beanie that might look good on him, but you decided to save it for his birthday. After many sleepless nights of trying to figure out what on earth to give him, the opportunity finally presented itself one day. You just finished a mission with the team, and as the crew made their way back to base, you noticed how Gaz’s gloves were damaged; the thumb side was burned off, most likely due to the explosion previously. Gaz took notice of your gaze and gave you a smile.
"It's alright; the rest of it is still fine I can live with it."
You give a nod as he turns around and speaks to Soap again, back to their usual banter as Gaz elbows Soap for not warning him when the bomb goes off. You secretly thank Soap for his recklessness because now you know exactly what to get him.
You tip-toed around the base during the late hours, being quiet and stepping cautiously on the floorboard to avoid generating any noise. You rest your hand along the wall as you walk before finally reaching the door. You glance around once and finally bend down to put down the little green box with a cute yellow ribbon. You smile softly to yourself as you stand up, only to yelp slightly when Gaz taps on your shoulder from the back.
"Hey, erm, what are you sneaking around for?-", he stops as you quickly glance back as you nervously stand before the gift, shuffling it behind your feet as you shake your head. Gaz watches your demeanour before he smiles as he looks down, noticing a small gift box. "I didn’t know it was my birthday today", he jokes with that charming smile of his, chuckling softly as he tilts his hand and leans closer.
"You don’t have to be so shy around me. Come on", He bends down to pick up the box as he opens the door. You were about to leave before he stops as he looks at you, motioning to enter his room. You gulp as you nod and follow along, deciding to sit on his bed beside him. You have never entered any member’s room at this point, and you’re surprised at how cosy his room is. A few blankets here and there; he even has a few plushies himself! You get distracted by his place without realising he has already pulled off the ribbon and taken out the gift. You turn around and face him when he lets out a gasp.
"YOU DID NOT-"
Gaz said excitedly as he held a pair of Moto gloves, navy in colour with a dash of blue camouflage, lined with hard leather that protects the knuckles. You watch as his eyes shine and he smiles so big that you can see his prominent canine teeth protruding, silently satisfied with yourself when he thanks you for the gift.
I've been wanting to return the favour since you got me the bear.
You say softly as he nods and tests out the glove. It’s a perfect fit as he feels the texture and size.
"This is amazing! I love it. Thank you so much", He thanks you again as he gives your head a pat. Both of you decided to stay for a while and chat idly after that.

You were awake the entire night, blinking and shuffling around your bed as you sighed deeply.
Another sleepless night
You thought to yourself as you pressed a pillow to your own face. You usually have trouble sleeping sometimes—more than you would like to admit. Whether it's because of the stress that lingers after missions or because of nightmares, They plague your nights without mercy.
You groan and sit up as you stare at the clock.
It's about 5 a.m. already, and I still can’t sleep.
You grumble to yourself as you stand and stretch, pissed that you can’t even enjoy a day off without getting a good night's sleep. You decided to run some laps around the field to tyre yourself out and nap afterwards.
And you did just that, running around the field for the past half an hour already, yet somehow you can feel that you’re more awake than usual. You know you’re physically tired, but your mental state refuses to calm down and screams at you. You sat on the ground hopelessly before lying on it, staring up at the sky as you let out a long, defeated sigh as you let out a few more grumble.
"Good morning, y/n" comes a voice as you glance to your left, recognising it as you divert your gaze from his shoe to his mask.
Good morning, Lieutenant Ghost, You reply back as you sit up and frown, slightly embarrassed that he saw you like this.
"Grabbing coffee for them, coming along?" He asks as he shakes the car key in his left hand, his other resting in the pocket of his black hoodie. You nod as you stand up by yourself and brush away the dust as both of you head to the jeep.
You’ve done this routine before with Ghost, sometimes doing it yourself. The group likes to take turns buying coffee and breakfast every weekend near the base; even the barista and workers have already recognised you guys at this point.
"Ah, it's you, 3 black coffees and 2 Earl Greys as per usual, yes?" Ghost nods to the shorter barista as she promptly prepares the drinks. You stood beside Ghost as you glanced around when you waited for the order before catching your sight on the fridge that displayed pastries and other small bites.
swiss roll!!
You take notice of the delicacy as you step closer to the glass. They rarely have cakes, at least whenever you come to visit anyway; mostly they display croissants or sandwiches, and you have to admit that the swiss roll they sell looks pretty good and tempting.
Matcha, strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate
You take a close look at all the options as you stare excitedly. Ghost watches as he stands closer and bumps your shoulder.
"Chocolate is good."
He whispers into your ears as you blush slightly at the sudden closeness and glance back at him. You nod as you stare back at that specific swiss roll. It even has what you assume is chocolate whipped cream with a small cherry on top. You whisper back softly as you grab his sleeve timidly.
Can I try the cake with you?
You know you can finish this cake yourself, but you wanted to share it with him since he suggested it in the first place.
Ghost blinks before nodding as he pats your hand, ordering the chocolate swiss roll as you smile and happily take a seat in the corner of the cafe. You watch as he brings the plate and sets it on the table. He hands you a fork as he watches you poke through the cake and take a bite.
!!!
Your eyes beam as your face lights up when you have a taste; the soft, spongy chocolate cake is perfect, and paired with the chocolate whipped cream? It tasted like heaven. Ghost chuckles as he watches you take another bite.
"Told ya"
You nod as you glance back at him with a giddy smile. You were right. You say as you take a much bigger part of the cake and hand the fork to him, and he nods as he pulls his balaclava to eat the cake, making sure he watches you from the corner of his eyes as he eats it. He likes seeing you take in the sight of him shamelessly, even if it's just his jaw and lips. He liked how you always stare and trail along the faint scar he has around the chin; it's as if you’re mapping him out and memorising his features. He gives a hum of approval as he finishes the bite and hands you back the fork, urging you to take more as you shake your head.
"It's okay, kid, I’ve tried this cake before already. Eat."
He says this as you frown slightly and nod along, then enjoy the cake again as your brows slowly relax. He smiles as he continues to watch you eat; he knows that you’re always eager and tend to be more compassionate than the other members, even if you don't show it. Gestures like how you always save a seat for him in the planes beside Soap, or how you silently wipe and clean Soap’s guns after missions, or how you always helped Gaz with reports, and you always brew a cup of coffee for Captain when he needs it, your actions doesn't go unnoticed by him.
Do you have a sweet tooth?
The question caught him off guard as he watch your eye. He took a few moments to ground himself before nodding. He watched the glint of amusement in your eyes as you smiled and leaned in to ask another question.
Then what’s your favourite dessert?
He smiles at your question as he leans in and rests his arm on the table as he stares back at you.
"Chocolate, if that wasn’t obvious enough already."
You chuckle as you shake your head and slightly poke his muscular arm.
Yeah, I have an idea, obviously, but you know, like, what kind? Like chocolate bars? Cocoa drinks? Chocolate brownies? You know what I mean, you list out the example as you bite on the fork.
He chuckles as he goes on and answers back, then you shoot another question and the process repeats. They may be small and mundane questions, but moments like this make him feel human again, to remind him that he is not just a war machine in this world, that he too has cravings and such, plus it also feels like you get to know him better, and perhaps this friendship can flourish more.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= a/n: am I biased towards Gaz? yes, yes I am(and yeah the gloves are from CSGO lol), like and reposts are appreciated! Have a good day/night! <3

Ahhhh .. I love the Someone Older couple already !! Could we maybe get a drabble, where YN takes care of JK after his accident?
Of course!
Tumblr media
Jungkooks house is.. huge.
But it also feels a little stale almost, like an apartment you'd find on pinterest or those websites that sell furniture. Like a display home, not being lived in.
There are some traces of him here and there, but no solid proof that it's him who's made those little hints happen- there's no personality to most of the decoration or even the furniture.
You're trying your best to help, and he's grateful. Even though you have to ask a lot, mostly where what is placed, you're still taking a good amount of weight off his shoulders.
He's eating slowly, mostly because he can't move his arm very quickly due to the bruising still, but even if he could, he wants to savor this. Not even a day of you staying over, and he's already noticed the faint smell of your bodywash lingering in his main bathroom. Your sweater on his couch. Your shoes at the door.
You're filling up his empty house with something alive. Something warm to contrast the white walls.
"Are you cold?" He asks as he notices the way you keep rubbing your socked feet against one another beneath the table.
"The tiles are cold." You say, and he chuckles.
"Gotta get you some slippers then." He suggests, and you shrug.
"Maybe." You agree. Does he want to just make you comfortable, or is he hinting at something more permanent? "Where do I sleep tonight?" You wonder, watching him finish his plate as he leans back, stretching for a second- painful face to go along with it, muscles still aching badly.
"Next to me, preferably." He shrugs after he gives up trying to have his stiff muscles relax. "But you can also take the guest room, if you'd like." Jungkook tells you, giving you another option just in case.
You feel a bit conflicted.
Will he compare you to what he knew with Evelyn if you sleep in the same bed she has before? Will he remember the things they both had, the happy times when they had cuddled or made love, and start reflecting on what this is now instead? It's weird. You want to be close to him, but not in the same spot he used to love another woman.
You're so selfish.
"I uhm.." You're not sure how to properly explain your problem, involuntarily glancing over to a coat left on the hanger near the front door, and Jungkook chuckles.
"She hated this house." He says. "She never liked it. Was angry at me for months when I bought it despite her distaste for it." Jungkook explains. "I got.. rid of most of the furniture and redesigned it all after she left."
"Huh?" You wonder, surprised.
"I just didn't want her anymore. I was hurt." He shrugs. "But in every.. object so to say, I saw a glimpse of her. Mocking me." He confesses. "And I couldn't stand it."
"So you.. threw out the furniture?" You wonder, and he laughs.
"Sold it, to be more precise." He corrects gently. "But yes. That's why it now looks so.."
"Sterile." You mumble, and he nods.
"I didn't want anything like what used to be in here. A complete opposite." He says, before he looks at the coat near the front door. "That coat by the way isn't hers. It's Taehyung's wife's." He says, watching fondly how you become a bit shy at being found out like that.
"I.. oh." You simply nod a bit awkwardly, when his hand reaches out to hold yours on the table.
"She forgot it months ago, Tae never picked it up." He chuckles. "And my bedroom has.. never seen anyone ever in it but me." He further teases, making your eyes snap up to his own, a strange, boyish excitement almost in his gaze.
"I think it's time to change that, don't you think?"

Only You
Sofia Falcone Gigante x fem reader
Sofia Gigante, the woman who has Gotham in her hands, who controls every corner and calls the shots everywhere, is sitting right in front of me right now, saying something that I’m not really paying attention to. Her piercing eyes seem to see right through you. The place around us is loud, but her firm voice cuts through the noise in the room.
She’s wearing a tight black dress with thin straps that hugs her curves perfectly. The matching black corset accentuates her figure even more. On her feet, a pair of black combat boots. Her beauty is undeniable.
“Hey, pay attention here, y/n,” she says, snapping her fingers in front of my face. The sudden sound of her voice makes me blink, and I quickly sit up straight, focusing on her. She leans back in her chair, putting some distance between us. “This is serious, I can’t let just anyone think they can take what’s mine.” She frowns, like the very thought is deeply offensive to her.
We were tailing some guy, a small-time dealer who had been selling his stuff in Sofia’s territory, territory she had taken over piece by piece after taking down Oz and his crew. Sofia didn’t need to say anything; I knew failure wasn’t an option. The last thing she’d tolerate was any challenge to her control, so she decided to handle it herself, wanting to send a message to anyone who thought they could mess with her.
“Right, what were you saying again?” I ask with an uncertain smile. I wipe my slightly sweaty hands on my pants. I wasn’t the best choice to accompany Sofia in this—I’m just the girl who manages her money. But for some reason, she walked into my office this morning and told me to come along. I didn’t have the guts to ask why, and now here I am.
Sofia rolls her eyes and sighs, “Stay alert, he’s in your line of sight. And I can’t turn around, so when he leaves, we’ll follow him and get him into the car.” I nod and look toward the guy. He was eating, all clumsy like he was starving. Despite his manners, he was well-dressed—modern clothes, neat shoes, nicely trimmed hair and beard. He had a scar on his left arm, visible through the rolled-up sleeve of his sweater. He finishes eating, wipes his mouth with a napkin, pays the bill, and gets up, walking through the doors and out of the place.
I look at Sofia, who’s watching me closely, interested in what I’m seeing. “He’s out.”
“Perfect,” Sofia says with a satisfied smile. I feel a bit sorry for this guy—he messed with the wrong person. She leaves some bills on the table, enough to cover the check and a generous tip for the waiter who served us before we get up and leave. The guy is leaning against the driver’s window of a car, chatting with the driver like they’re good friends, until we see him slip a small package in exchange for cash. He’s screwed. The guy walks away, starting down the street, and Sofia and I get into the car, starting to follow him.
“You know, I don’t think I’m the right person to be here. What am I supposed to do if things go wrong and he grabs you? I can’t fight or use a gun; I’m useless.” I finish speaking and immediately regret saying it—I shouldn’t have gone against her. Sofia takes her eyes off the road and looks at me.
“Sure, I’m no one to tell you what to do, I would never do that, but you should have brought one of your guys for protection,” I say nervously, starting to sweat again.
“I brought you for a reason,” she says, pausing, her gaze shifting between the road and me. “That’s all you need to know for now.” I nod, not trusting my voice to respond.
The car falls silent, and we keep following the guy. He walks a little further and turns into a dead-end street—perfect timing. He’s talking to another man when we pull onto the street; it looks more like an argument. Sofia stops the car near them and gets out, with me following behind. As soon as they notice us, the other guy gets scared and hurries off, leaving the small-time dealer standing there, talking to himself.
Sofia moves closer to the guy, and when she’s close enough, she hits him with the gun she had grabbed from the glove compartment just seconds ago. The man drops to the ground, and we struggle a bit to haul him into the trunk of the car. We get back in, and in complete silence, she drives us back to her place.
She’s been inside with him for over two hours now. I’ve been waiting outside like she told me to, and I didn’t question it—I just stayed there. Eventually, she comes out, her face and clothes splattered with drops of blood, her gun in hand as she wipes it with a small cloth. I’m afraid to see the mess she’s made of that guy. One of her men approaches at Sofia’s signal, and she tells him to dump the guy at the abandoned junkyard, where he’ll be easily found.
______________________________________________________________
I spent the afternoon working as usual, still thinking about everything that happened this morning. It was almost time to leave, and I hadn’t seen Sofia since all the craziness earlier. It was 10:40 PM when I heard a knock on the door. I gave permission to enter, and Sofia appeared. She walked in and shut the door behind her. She was wearing white tailored pants with a long-sleeved shirt tucked in, her hair loose and a bit messy, and she had two wine glasses in one hand and the bottle in the other.
“Time to celebrate our successful mission,” she says with a suggestive smile, sitting down on the sofa near the big window in my office. I tidy up my desk and sit on the couch next to her, keeping a bit of distance—not wanting to be intrusive. She pours the two glasses, and we clink them together before taking a sip.
We start talking about everything and nothing. She asks about whatever interests her about me, and I answer—I wouldn’t dare to ask her anything. In the two years I’ve worked for Sofia, I’ve never seen her so relaxed before. I feel glad to know she feels comfortable with me, considering I know she doesn’t have friends and never leaves the house, except for business.
I feel Sofia getting closer, her hand taking mine that was resting on my lap. I hear her clear her throat before speaking. “To answer your question from this morning, I brought you because you calm me down,” she takes a breath and continues, “You were with me when I built my business. You left the Falcones to help me build the Gigantes when no one else would. You were the only one who visited me in Arkham, and even though I pulled away and got cold after I came back, you still stayed by my side. I didn’t want to do this alone today, but I also didn’t want someone who’d get in my way, and I knew you wouldn’t do that. You were perfect. We might seem strange, even though we weren’t super close, but I still care a lot about you and want to keep you around.” I see a single tear fall from her eye, sliding down her cheek, and I lift my hand to wipe it away.
“Sofia,” I say softly, “I didn’t know you felt that way. You never showed it. When I started working for your uncle, I knew it wouldn’t last long. I didn’t agree with the things he did or how he ran things. When I found out you’d been unfairly locked up, I was furious, and I went after you to find out the truth. After that day, I knew I had to do something about it, so I waited for you to get out so I could help you take back what was yours.” More tears fall from her eyes, and she covers her face with her hands.
I freeze, not knowing how to react to the situation, but I move closer to Sofia and wrap my arms around her. “You can cry as much as you need, I’m here for you.” With that, she starts to sob even harder, and I hold her tighter. We stay like that for a few minutes until Sofia calms down. She lifts her head from my shoulder and wipes her wet cheeks. I gently run my hand over her cheek, caressing her softly, and Sofia leans into my touch.
We stay like this for a few minutes, her tears falling onto my shoulder. Gradually, Sofia’s breathing slows, and her sobs quiet down. She lifts her head from my neck, her eyes still red and her cheeks damp. Carefully, I brush my hand over her cheek, stroking it gently, as if trying to erase every tear she shed.
Sofia leans into my touch, closing her eyes for a moment, as if surrendering to that instant. The closeness between us becomes almost palpable, and I can feel the warmth of her skin beneath my fingers. My heart races as she slowly moves closer, her eyes now opening and locking onto mine, as if silently seeking permission—feelings I didn't even know I had rise to the surface, and it feels like this was meant to be.
I gaze back at her, my fingers still tracing gentle lines on her skin. Without words, Sofia leans in even closer, our faces just inches apart. Her breath mingles with mine, warm and hesitant, before her lips touch mine—soft and uncertain.
In that first contact, it’s like time stops. The kiss is light, but filled with a sweetness that makes my heart race. I kiss her back, closing my eyes and allowing myself to savor every second of this moment, a moment I wish would never end, feeling the softness of her lips on mine, the warmth spreading through my chest like an explosion.
When we finally pull away, our faces remain close, and our eyes meet again. It’s a moment of silent understanding, as if, without saying a word, we’ve said everything.

Selling Luxury Timepiece: A Guide To Turning Preloved Cartier Watches Into Cash
Tumblr media
The Cartier watch and its display are an unending luxury one will never forget. What of these exquisite timepieces appealed to you? Cartier is more than just a timepiece; it's a marvel of old world engineering, skillful craftsmanship, and design. A Cartier watch is a valuable possession you should treat as an investment.
A sophisticated, opulent watch with exquisite design Whether you used to own a Cartier watch that you no longer wear, received it as an heirloom gift, or are simply trying to make a profit on your future investment, it can be a satisfying way to collect some cash for your old watch. However, a better strategy is required to obtain the most value for your money. This comprehensive guide will take you step-by-step through the entire process of selling your preloved Cartier watches.
Cartier rings and accessories
One of Cartier's most well-known designs, even after over a century, is the trinity ring among other accessories. This ring, which is essentially a cult classic, is made up of three bands made of grey, yellow, and pink gold that are inextricably linked in a sensual embrace. You can sell Cartier accessories if you have a better price value.
Where to sell Cartier rings?
Do you own jewellery and rings from Cartier that you are unsure what to do with? Alright, you may sell Cartier accessories at its official store. The secret to confirming the value of Cartier jewellery is knowing how to assess it. Assessing it before selling it is crucial. The simplest and fastest method would be to use a reputable, knowledgeable jeweller, even though the majority of these might be independent services to assist one in the approach. To assist you in determining the true worth of your Cartier jewellery, they will evaluate each important element.
Cartier jewellery and watches are very pricey, and among others, some of the best places to sell Cartier love bracelets and rings are online authentic stores, auction houses, and pawn shops selling preloved Cartier watches. To get paid what they are worth, you should sell them to the right buyer. You can progress either from a known dealer or jewellery company or find private buyers—basically, you want a group that has satisfied customers. And it can also be quite useful to know the alternative buybacks for Cartier. Selling online isn't as hard as one might think! If done correctly, for a great business venture point of view, you can sell your luxury accessories at the right place.
1.Check out and research the market
Recognise the Market: Know what the market is currently doing, what brands and models are in demand, etc. Make sure the watch is genuine by having it authenticated. If you are unsure, have an expert validate your watch. Additionally, a comprehensive condition assessment must be performed to ensure that the watch is free from flaws. Finally, but just as importantly, compile the paperwork and save the original documents, invoices, certifications, and, if any, the box. Check out all the online marketplaces.
Professional Appraisal: You might think about obtaining a professional appraisal from any reputable jewellery or watch vendor.
Consignment stores: Distribute via several stores that specialise in upscale timepieces.
High-end auction houses: These are the greatest places to get such exquisite and uncommon timepieces. Prestigious auction houses like Christie's and Sotheby's can serve as brand ambassadors for retention houses.
2.Direct Sales: Make direct sales through classified advertisements to watch dealers, pawn shops, or individuals.
High-Def Images: crisp images taken from various perspectives will attract the buyer.. Draw attention to everything, even faults and unique qualities.
Detailed description: This would include the device's make, model, serial number, state, past servicing, and all accompanying paperwork.
3.Advertising and Promotion
One can use social media and other platforms for promotion and ads.
Watch Forums: Promote your listing in watch-related forums. Exercise caution when transacting.
Safe ways to pay: To prevent issues, consider using escrow services, bank transfers, or PayPal.
Shipping: Use track-and-confirm delivery and obtain insurance for the watch when shipping it with a reliable shipper.
4.Following-Sale Support
Follow-up: You want to address any concerns the customer may have and confirm that they are happy.
Returns & Compensation: Before you finalise the deal, you should be clear and explicit about your return and refund policy.
5.Be Truthful: Building confidence with customers is greatly aided by any openness regarding the state and historical history of the watch.
Remain Up to Date: To be competitive, you need to know about previous market-oriented pricing or activity.
Reputation at Risk: Essentially, it will be the favourable comments and evaluations that support you in achieving your goal of establishing a solid reputation as a reliable seller. A proper sense of the market and meticulous attention to detail are essential if you were to sell your luxury watch. Careful planning and a precise strategy are essential if you want to sell your old luxury watch for the best price.
Check the watch's general state of repair.
Before being allowed to sell pre-owned luxury watches, you must examine the outside of the case for dents, scratches, and other indications of wear. A flawless case can add a substantial amount to the watch's worth. Inspect the bracelet and clasp for signs of wear; authentic, unharmed components are in high demand. A thorough examination of the dial and hands is required. It must be spotless and devoid of any damage, oxidation, or discolouration.
Additionally, look for any chips, scratches, or even splits in the crystal. A spotless crystal significantly improves your watch's appearance. Ultimately, a professional watchmaker should be consulted to ensure optimal operation in the movement. Since accurate timekeeping is needed for a few days, accuracy testing should also be conducted. A very thorough service history, which explains how well-maintained the watch has been, will raise the cost. When you add in the original box and papers along with other accessories, the watch's overall value is significantly increased. Assemble a comprehensive bundle by combining the following items in one location: When original packaging is used, there's always something extra unique about the authenticity, charm, and monetary value.
When approached wisely to sell Cartier accessories can prove to be a worthwhile endeavour. The first step is careful planning and investigation. It is important to comprehend both the types of Cartier products that are in demand as well as the current industry trends. You may be certain of the worth and originality of your accessories by having them authenticated. The majority of Cartier accessories have hallmarks and serial numbers, which can be used to verify authenticity. Examine each item's condition because well-kept products with minimal wear and tear might command a higher asking price. Acquire all valid sales receipts, authenticity certifications, and other valuable documents to include in the sale, as doing so significantly raises their worth.
Determining the value of your Cartier accessories will be the next crucial step. To see what comparable products are now selling for, check out the website, Confidential Couture to obtain expert appraisal services if there is a large worth at stake. You can price your products fairly and competitively, attract serious customers, and make a profit on your investment if you have a thorough understanding of their value.
Any excellent listing is likely to draw in buyers. Take erect, crisp, high-quality pictures that highlight your best features and flaws from every angle. Add the item's measurements, materials used to make it, condition, and brand or model name. Include any documentation that the item might arrive with. This can help prospective purchasers recognise your item in a well-prepared listing and give them peace of mind. This will assist you in increasing the success of the deal. Make use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest to promote and market your listings to a wide audience that could be interested in buying what you have to offer. Post your listings in forums or communities for fans of luxury and fashion. This can assist you in becoming more visible and credible.
Ensure safe payment transactions
Whenever possible, choose secure payment options like bank transfers, PayPal, or escrow services. To ensure that nothing goes wrong during the shipment process, make sure the things are adequately insured and sent via reliable shipping companies that offer tracking and delivery confirmation. After a sale, always get in touch with the consumer to see how they are feeling and to ask if they have any questions. Before completing the transaction, specify the return and refund policies to avoid any misconceptions.
The entire process of finding out the accessories' history and condition demonstrates an effort to be very transparent with the purchasers while fostering confidence. Staying abreast of pricing trends in the market will help you remain competitive, and good feedback and reviews will help you establish your credibility as a trustworthy supplier. You may successfully sell your Cartier accessories or second hand luxury watch and achieve the best results by keeping track of these facts and organising the selling procedure.
Conclusion
If done correctly and with preparation, selling a second-hand Cartier watch may be a lucrative endeavour. If you assess your watch's condition, obtain paperwork for it, look out for its market value, select a good selling platform, and prepare your watch for sale, you can maximise your profit. To ensure a smooth and lucrative transaction, all that is required is realistic pricing, followed by skilful negotiating, and finally, safely concluding the deal. Whether you are a seasoned collector or a first-time vendor, following these steps will enable you to sell your luxury items quickly and profitably.

Hold Me Tight
Tokyo Debunker: Kamurai Jin x Reader Tags: Fluff, established relationnship, So much fluff omg, kinda case fic, there is a creep be warned
The day of the gathering, you were incredibly happy to remember that to the Frostheim ball Jin has gifted you three separate dresses. While you were sure you could have been able to improvise with the artifact cloth, real dresses were still better. After all, while it wasn’t a proper mission, it was adjacent to one. You have been sent to gather information in the ball where only the high society will attend.
Why you? Why not anyone else from Frostheim, who at least belongs there? Those were the first questions out of your mouth too when the Academy requested your presence there. You didn’t even have a background to get into the party. The invitation… You weren’t sure it would hold up given you were a no-name person.
Yet, given your status it wasn’t like you could actually say no to the request. Therefore, here you stood today, looking at Sinostra’s casino hours before you had to get going. You could think of no one who knows human faces better than Romeo. Maybe he also knew how to apply the appropriate makeup. At least you really hoped so. While the ghouls were incredibly helpful in life or death situations dealing with the occult… They weren’t famous for their make-up routines. What you wouldn’t give for just one of them to be a woman as well…
Given the total male community of ghouls, the best bet you could make was Romeo. Even if he didn’t know how to do so, he had a bunch of employees, near servants. There must be at least one girl who knows how to do it right, right?
Thus, you brought over the dress, the shoes and your meager makeup kit. You have never been one to use it much, the most you know is the basic foundation, blush, mascara, lipstick. You hoped for the best as you walked into Sinostra. You were far from an uncommon sight in the Casino given your work, so no one even glanced your way as you made your way up to the rooms.
As you were led inside Romeo was sitting in his usual chair, ordering people around as usual. Seeing you, he sighed. He knew, if you were not here for your inspector work then you needed something. Not that your inspector work didn’t bring him enough headaches. Why was Taiga so prone to eat anomalies? You awkwardly shuffled your feet.
“Out with it! I don’t have time to dally with you all day long.”
“Umm… Can you do my makeup?” You ask while looking at anywhere but him. “It is for a mission! I have to go to a high class party,” you added hurriedly.
“Do I look like your servant?! Me, Fico doing a BB’s makeup? Do I look insane to you?”
“I could mention your great contribution in the case file?”
And thus an hour later you walked out of the room all dolled up and ready for the party. He even made one of his house members style your hair. You really were grateful for the help. You will not look too out of place at the fancy high-end party.
The Galaxy Express ride, while beautiful, went uneventful as you read the case file once again just to be safe. Your work wasn’t anything strenuous, just gathering intel for one of Frostheim’s missions. According to the file a suspected anomaly was turning up at a few fancy parties. Nothing too malicious happened yet, but a few women would complain about strange noises in the restrooms. Like someone was watching them, but when they called out, only silence. Creepy. Maybe they weren’t wrong to send someone to investigate. It wasn’t every party, so you might just go, try to talk with some of the women and “enjoy” the high end life…
You walked to the party’s place from the closest Galaxy stop, getting out your invitation and steeling yourself to appear composed and regal. No use of all this planning if you can’t sell yourself as someone belonging there. You walked up the steps to the double doors, taking out your invitation and handing it to the butler standing in front of it.
He looked at the invitation, which you really hoped was actually real and not just a great replica, may the academy not fuck you over like that. Then he looked at you up and down. You were feeling his judging stare. Something was wrong with the invitation? Your clothes? Your makeup? Hair? Oh god.
“I haven’t seen you at one of these parties yet.” He crossed his arms. “I have zero idea where you got the fake invitation but you better give getting in up. You are not the first who brings a convincing replica.”
Oh god! You didn’t look like you belonged, right? No matter how you dress up a pumpkin, it will still only be a pumpkin. And anyone who knows pumpkins will recognize it in a glance. You were near panicking in your mind. How to deal with the situation? Insist you belonged? But if he asks for a family name? What would you say? Puff up and make a scene? Cry? Abort the whole mission and demand the academy come up with better plans?
As you stood there, silent but for a frown adoring your face, a slender arm sneaked around your waist, pulling you into a solid chest. You glance up, you could guess who the hand belonged to by the way it clutched you possessively. Your brain does not betray you, Jin’s unimpressed face looks straight at the butler.
“Is there a problem here?” He pulls you even closer, which you didn’t think was possible.
“I… the girl…” The butler gulped, clearly recognizing the Kamurai family’s son.
Jin raised an unimpressed eyebrow at him. His commanding aura was not less than if he used his stigma to make the man fall to his knees right there. Maybe he wouldn’t even need to use it. You relaxed in his arms, knowing he is going to take care of you.
Not even ten seconds later the butler opened the double doors and let you two in, bowing low as you walked through it. Before you entered the actual ball room Jin stopped to look at you.
“What are you doing here?”
“Working,” you replied casually. There was nothing more to it, you had orders from up high, you had to comply.
“Without an escort? Not even one ghoul?” He frowned, but you knew his ire was not aimed towards you.
“I think I just got myself one.” You slipped from his arm to lay your own onto his, into the typical escorting position, smiling up at him. Well, maybe grinning would have been the better description. He chuckled at your antics, pulling your hand to his lips, laying a gentle kiss onto it.
“If the lady insists.”
You walk into the ballroom with your arms linked, having given him the details of your mission. Given the sensitive nature of the case, he let you go to investigate while he did his own job as the Kamurai family’s heir. Meaning PR, which really was just standing around looking menacing as men old enough to be his father looked humbled by his presence. It was quite funny if you were honest.
You mingled with the women, trying to gain a scrap of information that could help the investigation. Given your penchant for the worst luck, neither of them were one of the victims. They told you some gossip but that is as far as their knowledge went. Today also seemed to be a quiet, calm night. Not a scream from the direction of the restrooms.
Well, at least you got out of the school grounds. A night spent in a luxurious ball room with soft classical music, a bar not far away, finely dressed people you have nothing in common with. Just your idea of a fun night out… Not so much. With little left to do but suffer through the night, you headed to the bar. If you had to be here is case the anomaly, if it is an anomaly, shows up, you were going to get a drink.
Thus decided, you walked to the bar, plopping yourself down on one of the barstools. The place was fancy, but it lacked the charm and homely feeling you would get at Rui’s bar. As you looked through the menu a drink was placed in front of you. You glanced up at the bartender.
“Courtesy of the man over there.” He pointed to a man sitting not too far away. You grimaced and pushed the drink away, the man looked old enough to be your father, creepy predator. When he saw the drink being taken away, instead of getting the neon lighted huge NO signal, he moved to the stool next to you. Paying him no mind, you looked at the bartender.
“A strawberry daiquiri, please.”
As the bartender set the cocktail in front of you, the guy next to you piped up. What you wouldn’t have given to shut his mouth, preferably with one of the fancy barstools.
“Let me cover that,” he said, all slimy and not at all visibly wanting to gain your favour. Which was still so gross. As if it was his right just because he had money and you looked young and alone. Thankfully the bartender looked at you before doing anything. At least he was a professional, not disregarding you for your age or gender.
“No, write it up to Kamurai’s name,” you said, looking at nowhere but the bartender. Jin said not to worry about any expenses, he had you covered, the academy didn’t give you any money after all. They really expected you to do nothing but investigate, like a good little robot. The bartender nodded and walked away, clearly someone who knew not to argue.
“Pfff.” The man next to you let out an undignified bark of laughter. “Girly, clearly you think yourself to be someone. Do you know how many try to curry favour from that family? It would be better for you to keep your pretty face down and let me be a gentleman for now.” He leaned in, too close for comfort, you could smell the alcohol on his breath, his closeness repulsing you like no anomaly so far.
“After that, I can make your pretty lips take in something better than the straw in your drink.” His hand reached out, touching your hair, then sliding down to rest on your thigh, even as you tried to move away. You couldn’t make a scene right now. While your own reputation didn’t matter, you were a nobody either way, Jin might just get the burnt of it if you act on impulse and really beat the crap out of this disgusting pervert. You tried to move as far as possible on your stool, but given its size, you couldn’t put too much distance between the two of you.
Diplomacy, diplomacy, you repeated in your mind. You will not pour your drink onto this waste of space. It might get on your dress, you’d loath to stain it. But, well it will be burnt either way after this man put his disgusting hands on it. Maybe you should pour the drink on his head. No, diplomacy, polite but firm.
“I do not wish for either to happen. So if you would unhand me.” You tried to push his hand away. Ew, you better wash it well after this. But his hand wouldn’t budge, no, it only squeezed you tighter. THIS TRASH! You felt your temper rising like the Sun every dawn, steadily reaching new heights as the predator only smirked at you, letting his hand wander higher, leaning in too close.
“Playing hard to get, I see. Don’t worry I am good at making brats like you beg for mercy. Preferably on my co—” He couldn’t finish his sentence as your drink landed on him at the same moment his ass hit the floor. But it wasn’t you who dumped it on him. The man looked shocked then enraged.
Yet, he couldn’t say a word as your knight in shining armor, khm nice suit, saved you for the second time this night. You might have to rethink your decisions. You are not a damsel in distress but you couldn't stop your heart from beating faster and feeling relieved that he came to your side when you were in need. You might just fall harder for him. Was that even possible?
“Get your hands off her,” Jin growled at the man. The man on the floor couldn’t utter a word in the presence of Jin. Like someone cut his tongue out. He clearly got the memo, finally, that you weren’t joking with having The Kamurai family cover your expenses. With a swift motion Jin put his black card on the bar, signaling to the the bartender to swipe it for your drink.
“Oi, it was the girl who came onto me. What can I do with such a needy bitch? Not play along. She is a total gold digger.” The man tried to stand up, his bruised ego not letting him take the reasonable defeat. Tried, being the important word, as Jin let his feet fall onto the man’s hand, exerting enough force to make him fall back down. As he put pressure on it, the middle aged man winced and grimaced.
“You better shut your ugly mug.” He motioned for the guards. After all, this was a party for the filthy rich. Of course there were security guards. When they got there, Jin lifted his leg off the man.
“Take this trash away.” When they lifted the man Jin leaned closer to him. “If I see you anywhere near my girlfriend again, losing that disgusting hand would be the kindest thing I will do to you.”
As the man was unceremoniously thrown out Jin turns to you, offering his hand so you could comfortably get off the barstool. When you did, he pulled you in, fixing a stray strand of hair, gently tucking it behind your ear.
“Let’s fix your dress, some of your drink splashed on it.”
You glanced down. And truly, a red stain was on your dress. You were so entertained by Jin putting the fear of god into that pervert that you didn’t even register the coldness. You nodded and let yourself be led to the back.
Given the place’s fanciness, it was no surprise that one of the restrooms had a unisex room that seemed to exist for emergency uses, such as a spilled drink, an uncomfortable feet due to high heels… The emergency truly had a different connotation in high society… Not that you were complaining right now, given that you have a so-called emergency.
Jin closed the door after stepping into the room, following you. You looked down at your dress. It didn’t seem salvageable to your eyes. And given the stain’s location, you couldn’t wash it without taking it off. Then you remembered. You didn’t wear a bra! The dress let your breasts be free of bras but now you need to take it off. Seeing you hesitate, Jin lifted one of his eyebrows at you.
“You see… I have nothing under it…” You blushed and looked away. Then you heard rustling. Glancing up, you saw Jin take off his suit’s coat, holding it out for you.
“Put this on then.” You nodded, reaching for the zipper. Which decided to be uncooperative! You could pull it up just a few hours before! Why couldn’t you unzip it now?
Seeing your predicament, Jin reached for the zipper.
“May I?” You nodded, holding your breath as the zipper slipped down, the dress following after it’s path towards the floor.
“I’m sorry, I ruined the dress you gave me.”
“I can buy you a hundred more. And it was me who spilled your drink on it.” He laid a gentle kiss onto your shoulder, following it up with laying his coat onto you so you are no longer half naked in the room. You stepped out of the circle of your dress. Jin took it in his hands, looking at the stain with annoyance. Whether he was annoyed about staining it himself, or the things leading up to that, you didn’t know.
“Let’s just toss it and take one of the provided substitutes. They are not the best, but they should do until we get back to the Academy.” He tossed the expensive dress into the trash as if it was nothing. Then he walked into the inbuilt closet room. You let him do the choosing, he did a good job last time, you believed in him. The filthy rich really had everything. The organizer seems to have thought of everything! Kudos to them!
Being left alone, you looked around the room, holding the coat together to keep your skin covered. While it wasn’t cold, it wasn’t the best temperature to be bare chested in. The interior was decorated lavishly but still elegantly. A couch, a few armchairs, a coffee table as well. Two doors, one obviously opening to the closet, the other to the restroom. You sat down on one of the armchairs, no reason to stand around awkwardly.
After a while Jin walked out, holding a blue dress in his hands. Clearly he wasn’t above dressing you in his own colours. Who said he isn’t a possessive boyfriend? You took the offering, smiling at him, no doubt you will look good in it.
“Go put it on, then we can go home.” He lifted your head gently by your chin, planting a quick kiss to your forehead.
You walked into the restroom, ready to change and get out of this place. But something got you on high alert. Something seemed to be strange. As you put Jin’s coat down to put on the dress, you saw it. Someone, rather something from the chill running down your spine, was watching you. And then it started coming closer. Too fast. You have nothing to defend yourself with!
Nothing else to do, with fear chilling you, you screamed! Half naked or not, this wasn’t what you signed up for! You were supposed to get intel! Not run into the obvious anomaly! Because of course you would run into it! Because your life was one big joke, that’s why!
Hearing your scream Jin immediately ran into the room, sword already drawn. He didn’t hesitate to slash it in two. Clearly this one shall go into the case file as “destroyed” as well, not like you cared today. When Jin deemed it dead enough, he pulled you to him.
“Clearly I shouldn’t leave you alone for a minute. You have an uncanny way of getting into trouble.”
“Hey, this was clearly not my fault. I didn’t sign up to play bait tonight for whatever this was.” You pulled his coat back onto yourself buttoning it up. Clearly today wasn’t the day to wear dresses…
“Hold onto me.” He wrapped his arm around you and slashed the veil of reality into two, stepping through to his dorm room. You should have used the Galaxy Express to come back, but this was honestly more convenient, faster, and safer as well. You weren’t about to complain for a free taxi ride back to the Academy.
But his dorm room was admittedly a lot colder than the ballroom was. Seeing you shiver, Jin pulled you towards his bed.
“Stay the night? I’ll even let you wear one of my warm shirts.” He lifted your hand to his mouth. Laying a kiss onto it before playfully biting into it. You chuckled at his seduction. You wouldn’t be able to sleep much anyway if you went back to your dorm, while this was not too dangerous compared to a few cases that you managed to live through… You felt way too vulnerable, nearly naked in front of the anomaly.
“Only if you won’t complain when I hog all of the blanket,” you countered, already fluffing his pillow up to your liking.
“Deal.”

You buried your finger in Jin’s silky hair as he peppered your naked shoulders with kisses.
“I forgot to ask. How did you know it was me in front of the doors at the entrance? I can’t have been the only one to have that dress.”
He bit into your shoulder, as if disagreeing with even the thought of not recognizing you.
“Ridiculous. I would recognise you anywhere.” He planted a kiss on your forehead. “From a glance.” A kiss on your cheek. “By the scent of your skin.” On the tip of your nose. “By the colour of your eyes” On your eyelids. “By the feel of your hands in mine” Another on your neck. “By the sound of your heartbeat.” Another kiss on your lips. “Anywhere. Anytime.” He intertwined your fingers with his, pulling your back against his chest. Lulling you to sleep with his steady breathing, content in his arms. Knowing you have arrived home.

“Fae!”
Luna barely made it inside the bar before she was yelling your name, making you jump at the sight of your friend, almost spilling the beer, worried for just a second - until you saw her grin. Oh, that kind of grin meant she had news, or well, gossip to be more exact.
You finished filling up the glass for one of the regulars, smiling at the older gentleman who went back to watch some sort of sport show at the small television in the corner with the others.
“Faefaefae-” Luna didn’t even stop, almost crawling over the desk, as you gave her shoulder a gentle tap.
“Calm down,” you said, before turning around and getting her a bottle of sparkling water as you knew she preferred, “tell me then, what is so important that you’re screaming my name?”
Technically it was just your nickname, but those tended to stick in this town. Not that you minded. First halloween in Stonemill, where you dressed up as a fairy and your fate was sealed.
“Somebody bought the Johnson family house,” her voice was in a dramatic whisper, eyes wide, “full price even.”
That did make you pause and blink. The Johnson family house was at the edge of the town and had, in fact, been owned by said family for generations - until the last one, who ended up being the only family member left, elderly and without kids of her own. Miss Johnson had tried selling the house for years, but Stonemill wasn’t well known, nor was a lot of people interested in buying a giant house that needed well, a lot of love. In the time you had lived there, Miss Johnson had lowered the price three times.
“Full original price?”
Luna nodded, like an excited pup.
“- And Miss Johnson?”
“Over the moon! She got enough money to get that lil two bedroom apartment near the Franks and Hales, and there won’t be any stairs there and enough space for her to use her walker too.”
You felt yourself smile. You weren’t close with Miss Johnson in any way, but it was hard not to know each other at least vaguely in a town like this. She was a big part of the elderly community but after falling about a decade ago, she had struggled with chairs - moving closer to the other elders would be good for her.
“That’s good, bless her heart,” you answered, “I’m really happy - do you know who bought it?”
“Yes! well, no I don't but–”
“- but you heard gossip?”
“Excuse you,” Luna touched her chest with a mocking, horrified expression, her red curls almost bouncing “I am a good christian woman, I never gossip.” You rolled your eyes as you picked up a glass, beginning to clean it.
“Tell me then, oh great Christian woman, what didn’t you hear then?”
“Well, Miss Johnson said that it was a lot of handsome strange men,” the words made you frown but Luna merely waved her hand at you, “yeah, I was confused too, but I talked to the couple that lives nearby and the guy said that it’s a group of four men, all veterans, apparently used to be a squad.”
“That doesn’t make them weird–”
“They’re British, Fae.”
“... Ah. I see Miss Johnson’s point.”
“Anyways - neighbor said he is pretty sure some of them is gay, but his wife said it probably wasn’t all of them and that we shouldn’t judge, but that they all seemed very polite and nice, but that they probably wanted to come here to retire, ya’ know?”
“Luna,” you took a deep breath, having to stop yourself from pinching the bridge of your nose, “how do you even know all of this?”
“Mailman - and the butcher.”
“Hah. Of course.” you wanted to roll your eyes at the ridiculousness of the entire situation.
“BUT! you know what this means, Fae?” She almost lit up again and you raised an eyebrow, putting the glass away.
“That we’re officially 154 town folks now?”
“Yes! SO! New people to date!” Luna sounded incredibly proud of herself.
“I - Luna you’re a lesbian,” you pointed out, your friend just rolling her eyes, grin not faltering for a moment, “It’s not for me, you idiot! For you!”
You wanted to deny that the thought didn’t catch your interest. Your cheeks felt warm and though you let out a huff, trying to not seem bothered, both you and Luna knew it was a lie. One of the regulars, further down the bar giggled at the two of you and you sent him a stern look.
Why did they care about your dating life? It bothered you.
Looking back at Luna, her head resting in her hands, freckles standing in a stark contrast to her sunburnt skin, her green eyes shining in the unnatural light of the bar.
“No.”
“Ya’ haven’t even seen ‘em!” Arguing with Luna, on a night like this, where she was full of energy, had been out in her garden half the day without enough sunscreen, was almost impossible; after several years of knowing her, you knew that. Yet, here you were.
“Neither have you, dipshit.” A part of you wished that there would appear more thirsty bar goers, just so you wouldn’t have to defend your singleness. Finding a partner that wasn’t a wolf and wouldn’t ask too many questions was tough to say the least. At the same time, finding a partner who was a wolf, meant letting another wolf, a stranger, into your territory. The urge to gag overwhelmed you for a moment.
“But-”
“No - now, do ya’ wanna talk about something other than planning my dating life?”
The ginger pouted.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Hours passed, you returned home from your shift at the bar, taking the usual walk home, smelling slightly of beer and cigarettes as always. It was like a rhythm that had settled in your body after living here half a decade.
Cars passed, lights illuminating your body for mere seconds, a person or two greeting you as you passed them, wishing you a good night. Stonemill was considered a rather safe place. There was the occasional bar brawl, but they were often nice enough to take it outside and figure it out on their own.
Whenever you walked home on nights like these, bathed in the last colors of the sunset, you liked to imagine you were in a music video, like the ones you grew up watching repeatedly on youtube.
The thoughts of the newcomers had drowned in your mind, by another local drama, then by a heartbroken lady who came in not too long after Luna had annoyed you about being single.
No, you just enjoyed the air, much nicer than the big city air you had grown up with.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
It was two days later when you stepped out of your door, to go get groceries, that the scent in the air made you physically gag - gripping the door frame, to stop yourself from falling over.
Wolves.
There were fucking wolves in the area. Strangers, in your fucking territory.
How dare they?? For a non-human, it was clear that this area was yours - you made sure of that, making sure it stank of your scent. You rubbed your muzzle against house corners, against trees, hell you pissed several places on the regular, too.
You had to close your eyes, breathing through your mouth for a couple of seconds, building up your courage to take another sniff. You needed to know who the hell this was, how many, whether they were alphas, betas or omegas like you.
You took a deep breath, this time with your nose, wrinkling it at the scent. It stank of alphas, definitely more than one, if you had to guess by the mixed scents.
Right. You wetted your teeth with your tongue, the urge to let your wolf form free overwhelming for a second. To find the intruders, as quickly as possible, attack them, show them that this place wasn't open for them. Groceries afterwards.
Hopefully it was just a pack passing by, though they had definitely been in the area for a couple of hours, if the potent scent was anything to go by.
Following your nose wasn’t quite like following the maps app on your phone. It forced you to use an instinct you mostly used when hunting. It was like the world  around you didn't matter, though you tried not to look too weird as you sniffed your way towards the unknown goal. Smiling and greeting as familiar faces passed you, either on foot or in their cars.
The house at the edge of the town was a dull green color, worn by the weather by the years, begging to be fixed - but it needed more than just a new paint job for the house to look nice again. It was a fixer upper, as Luna had described it once. With the stream nearby and the forest curling into the backyard, it was a big and beautiful house, where a big family could live. Usually you wouldn’t even be hesitant to get close, because Miss Johnson would always be sitting in the window, watching the street - waving at you with her boney fingers and big grin, her little poodle always next to her.
No more.
The scent was overwhelming, even as you stood around 20 metres away. A big truck was in the driveway, getting unloaded by several big men. They were chatting among themselves and you didn’t need to be a genius, to know that these men were the ones mentioned by Luna. British veterans.
Hiding behind a tree wasn't your proudest moment, but you needed to be able to look at them in peace, just for a bit.
Tall, all four of them, clearly strong as they easily carried the bigger furniture pieces and moving boxes. Some of the neighbors were helping, chatting. One of the loudest of them wasn’t even British, if the Scottish accent was anything to go by as he chattered away. He wore a knee-brace, blue shorts and black t-shirt, hair in a fucking mohawk. A big grin as he argued to another one of them that it was his knee, not his arms that were broken, as he took another box.
The one who looked worried - or well, his upper half of his face looked worried - was wearing a black facemask, short clipped dark blonde hair, scars littered all over his body and face. A pair of pants and long sleeve shirt, despite the warmth. You couldn’t hear what he said exactly, drowned out by all the other voices and noise from their moving.
A black man appeared, wearing a cap with the british flag - and the prettiest face you had seen for a long time. Smiling politely as their neighbor asked about something, wearing a gray t-shirt that was a tad too tight on his arms and a pair of long shorts. You already knew all the housewives and older ladies were going to try to marry off their daughters to him.
Then, finally, the last stranger appeared.
He wore a boonie hat of all things, t-shirt too but an open flannel over it that was folded up to his elbows, exposing his tattooed arms. He was big too, but looked much older - mostly due to the beard that looked like it had stepped out from a history book.
The wind had been hitting your face, letting their scents come to your hiding spot. Alpha. All fucking alpha, potent with their wolf scent, which meant they had probably changed yesterday.
The urge to create a scene, to snarl at them, humans be damned and get them off your territory was overwhelming.
At once, the wind changed. Before you realized, it was too late, the wind curling along your short hair.
The man with the beard was the first one to quickly turn his head, your gazes instantly meeting as he sniffed the air. Fuck. As if on cue, the three others froze, their faces instantly turning towards you too, but you were stuck in some sort of staring contest with the first man.
The moment he grinned, like he knew something you didn’t, you slipped away into the slim alleyways of the two houses near you, escaping to the back of the enclosed gardens, away from the gazes of the four alpha wolves. It wasn’t that you didn’t want to fight you did - but it wasn’t the right time.
You barely remembered what you bought in the grocery store - bringing home the oddest mixture of things that you didn’t care about either. You barely ate, just sat around your house… waiting.
Watching the sun going lower and lower on its travel across the sky.
It was dark when your wolf had you get up, howling and snarling in your mind, begging you to let her come out, so that you could go to the house and scare the alphas off.
But you didn’t. Reason with them, you told yourself, try communicating before going directly to violence… Besides, the more logical part of you feared not winning the fight. Your wolf didn’t particularly like the idea of communicating.
Pulling on your boots, your thick jacket since it was cold and you weren’t - hopefully - going to shift, you needed to keep your warmth. A dark knitted beanie pulled down to your ears, a scarf and you were off. You didn’t look scary, you knew that. You were smaller than them, chubby and had short hair, but according to Luna, a mean stare. Your wolf form was more dangerous with her teeth, but alas.
You didn’t go through the town this time, foregoing the usual streets, in the hopes of not catching unwanted attention. Instead you crossed through the forest, the trip a little longer, but the scents familiar and shadows easier to hide in.
The closer you got to the Johnson Family house, that wasn’t the Johnson Family house anymore, the more their scent began to return, making you wrinkle your nose - and this time a small growl left you.
Minutes passed as you calmly walked in between the trees, knowing the place like the back of your hand. Maybe you ran your bare fingers along a couple of trees, to leave a little more scent behind, who knew.
It took a little while, time almost slowing down the closer you got. As you got closer, you began to mind your sounds, trying to be as quiet as possible. It was easier in your wolf form, but you made due, making it to the stream in their backyard - you didn’t cross it, keeping it between you, since it would give you a good head start, in case it was needed.
You stood there for a moment, watching the usual dark windows, lit up, picking up the vague sound of laughter and moving. For a moment, just a short moment, you imagined what it would be like to have your own pack. To have somebody to rely on, someone to spend your life with, to run free with, letting your wolves free and enjoying nature. The next moment, you wanted to hit yourself for even thinking about it.
You let out a little howl, giving away your position, letting them know you were near. Everything stopped within the house. Only because of your non-human genes, you were able to hear rough talking, though you couldn’t pick out the words. You waited. A few moments later, the backdoor opened and you braced yourself, ready to turn and run for your life in case it was wolves that barged out.
Instead it was the man with the beard, hat forgotten in the house, bare feet and a hurriedly put on leather jacket. His eyes ran over the garden, before it landed on you.
The stench from the house of male alphas hit you like a brick wall, but you stood quietly, waiting, even as the anger grew inside of you with every second that passed.
The man turned towards you, having the audacity to grin at you as he stepped down from the wooden back porch, down towards the stream.
God you wanted to rip his throat out.
